I really enjoyed the End and The Death Part 3 and I will probably make a video on it at some point. Thank you all very much for watching!

      Except the Raven Guard. The Iron Hands were often largely responsible for field-testing of new armor, but the Corvus was shipped out to other legions for testing as well. They all disliked it, the Iron Warriors and Iron Hands full on HATED it. Less armor plating, stealth baffling, the design of the helmet prevented installation of a gorget to prevent shrapnel and stray shots from finding your jugular. To them, it sucked. The Raven guard saw it and said “stealth baffling? Reduced radar cross-section? Quieter motive systems? Improved power delivery? Greater range of motion and flexibility?? I’LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK!!!” And 10,000 years hence, the Raven Guard veterans are still kicking ass with it. I may be an Iron Hands fan unto death, but I will never talk shit about the Raven guard. I’ll stick to just making bird jokes. 😂😂😂
      The raven guard have acquired a reputation for making lemonade out of lemons, and I honestly respect that.

    Fun fact:
    In one of the ForgeWorld’s Black Books for Horus Heresy, there is a passage explaining how hoarding MK IV actually blew up in Horuses face, since after the Heresy was in full swing and the supply lines started to collapse, MK IV became extremely hard to maintain, due to it’s complicated and high tech design.
    There is also another passage that describes how as Heresy was progressing more and more marines from both sides started to favor MK III over any other type when available, as it was unintentionally best suited for marine v marine combat due to its hardened frontal plaiting.

    • @unclesamlore
      @unclesamlore  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yup! That’s why so much non production mk5 was based on mk3. I love the black books so much. Thanks for watching!

      That, and lots of space marine vs space marine shootouts in the heresy were either in close confines or straight up boarding actions, in which guys like the Imperial Fists, Iron Hands and Salamanders were REALLY fucking good, and they all had tons of MKIII

    If you still see this, see more speculation would be great. Especially with your deep character analysis. It makes the lore videos more interesting and fun to watch and speculation coming from that angle is always fascinating to me. Tbh, I don't play, it's a daunting prospect to get into lol but I've been listening to a lot of lore for years and I very much enjoy listening to these. Keep it up! And tell shadow to do the same!

    Honorable mention to Gorgon Terminator Armor? It was developed by Ferrus Manus and the Iron Fathers of the Iron Hands in the last couple decades of the Great Crusade, attempting to combine the very first variants of Indomitus Terminator armor with all the goodies that Cataphractii and Tartaros had, like the Cataphractii’s dual refraction field generators which basically gave it two very strong forward facings of energy shielding. The Iron Hands were making pretty good progress with it, until Istvaan V happened and cut the project short. What we ended up with is basically an up-armored version of Indomitus with near flawless targeting systems and sensors, and a conversion field generator that turns incoming weapons fire into flashes of blinding light. That’s right. Shooting at a Gorgon Terminator is basically just flashbanging yourself. The unfortunate part is that Ferrus died before the project could be completed, which leaves the Gorgon suit producing a shitload of toxic chemical runoff and radiation while the conversion fields are active, and the only way for its wearer to survive that is through extensive cybernetic alteration surgeries, to the point where the occupant is basically permanently entombed within their terminator armor. Fortunately for the Iron Hands, they see this as an immense honor and privilege to be offered the opportunity to undergo these procedures and BECOME THE MACHINE. Unfortunately for the other legions/chapters, they aren’t so enthusiastic about rejecting the frailty of their flesh, so they prefer to stick with plain old Indomitus. Which isn’t really a bad suit in and of itself to be honest. It’s cool as shit. Love the big, bulky rebreather helmet. Looks like a mechanical bull or bear head.

    Games workshop has told us over and over how expensive SM wargear is, but how often do they show it?
    Are there chapters with plenty of gene seed and recruits but not enough wargear for new marines?
    What about an experienced veteran in mismatched salvaged gear with bare arms who then loses a hand?
    How about a story about a great company of Space Wolves confidently chasing a chaos warband who meet a force of Squats that goad them into betting their wargear on a drinking game and lose. The Wolves are then reduced to borrowing ogryn gear from a guard regiment and they know that if they fought the chaos warband like that they'd lose. That could be a fun story but for that to work the squats are pretty certain they will meet another chapter that's short on wargear with money/ barter goods to buy them with. Otherwise if the Squats can't use the gear themselves it's just scrap to them.
    If every full full fledged SM has a full suit of armor then it's not scarce and if it's not scarce simply saying each suit of power armor is a priceless relic isn't enough to make it feel valuable. Either show the disastrous effects of fighting a better equipped enemy or else show the vast effort chapters will go to to acquire more gear.
    Chaos warbands are said to be less well equipped than loyalists but how often do we see them needing to maintain stricter fire discipline since they have less ammo or taking a riskier attack plans to try and kill loyalists without damaging their armor? Does 'being less well equipped' get shown in the tactics chaos marines use or regularly cited as a reason for loyalist victories as much as numbers/ experience/ tactics?
    Honestly, a story about the quartermaster of a chaos warband showing how they buy/ scavenge/ earn/ steal enough gear for new recruits would be interesting.
