I love how absolutely apocalyptic that battle was. Back when Necrons were written as being genuinely terrifying, and not as the latest bolter fodder for the Astartes.
They really should be borderline Lovecraftian. They’re literally undead aliens who were fighting galaxy-wide wars before life on Earth had properly emerged from the primordial soup, or at the very least long before mammal-like creatures began to appear on Terra. And the only real emotion most of them are capable of feeling is loathing for all life.
Tbf would we not adapt to them somewhat over the incomprehensible time we’ve been fighting them ?

Nice work bringing the campaign alive. The account was pretty chilling and gave the Necrons the feel of Lovecraftian Great Old Ones returning to end the world as we know it.
The only problem with writing a foe that apocalyptic, is you inevitably have to either put them back to sleep just as quickly as you woke them, Cthulhu's fate, or you have to de-power them back down to just another enemy. Otherwise, the game would be over, LOL.
i love it at the last minutes as these necron horror are coming upon you ,you are saved by reinforcements only to see your still living commanders get killed at told for your cowardice you must repent by running into those metal horrors and dying. then they themselves show you how to die properly as standard Krieg operation dictates. ahh love those guys.

Necrons are absolutely overpowered. They got absolutely ridiculous technology and beyond ridiculous intelligence and on top completely immune to the corruption of chaos. They crushed literal gods, eons past, certainly none contemporary factions are anywhere close to being their equals

Reminds me of how the humans fought in the Human-Covenant war from the Halo universe. Humanity could win space battles but only with double to triple or more losses. The Necrons in this campaign causing even more destruction than what the Covenant could do.

I Imagine the Kreig swarming the necrons is what it feels like for a guardsman to be swarmed by Tyranids
Sometimes I wish the Necron would just win. They get intel from a dude surviving and then kill him for surviving. The Imperium dooms itself and then blames everyone else. There are no good guys in 40k, but the Imperium is absolutely not part of the "smart" factions.
The Necron don't even register "cowardice" so all they did was kill a dude for surviving. GG Imperium, GG anyone stupid enough to defend this methodology- even with in-universe reasoning. An Inquisitor of any intellect would put to death whoever made that ruling- including calling another Inquisitor into question for such reckless wasting of life. Granularity is a waste.
Could we revise that to not include the Imperial Guard by any chance? Any time they show up they seem to be pretty honorable

Ok, if the Necrons used those endless scarabs in concert with their Infantry they would quickly wipe out enemy infantry and armor. Air units could deal with enemy artillery and supply dumps. Not even the Krieger's could overcome that. Even the Astartes would fall to these tactics.

This is Imperial propaganda. The Necrons are too powerful for a squad of Astartes to decapitate them. What really happened is the Imperium got its butt kicked and wisely ran away. This cover story about a final Imperial Victory is just pap for the masses. Did you notice the part where they slammed a moon into a planet?
Yea and the sector was permitted off limits, hah. Also was the chapter master of the minotaurs killed, and then subsequently brought back due to the fact GW is incapable of killing off marine characters, or did he never die in the first place? Here it sounds like the latter, but I thought the former.
