He was counting his key changes if he was going to a higher note and had to keep it light he would light his thumb would lightly touch is index finger; if he was dropping his thumb would drop to a lower finger. Sometimes he looked to be pointing notes out rapidly on a keyboard or guitar fret.

Robin was using his hands to count, and keep the notes perfect. Also putting his hand over his ear to keep some of the sounds out. They didn't have the technology like they have today. Some artists do that. And Robin was a perfectionist.

Flawless performance, despite the fan disruption. Bee Gees were absolute professionals on stage. I've never been aware of anyone who complained attending their concerts. Listen to the notes - flats and sharps - as Robin Gibb sings with his unique vibrato and delivery of the lyrics. No one who has covered this song was able to come close to the sound of the original. Chad, I'm so pleased you finally listened to this lesser known but brilliant song from the Brothers Gibb.

Chad, I dropped everything when I saw in my notifications that you reacted to "I Can't See Nobody" from Melbourne in 1974! What an amazing reaction! I've been waiting for a very long time for this wonderful Robin lead to be done. With a full orchestra accompanying them and Robin's emotional performance, I don't think there is a better version out there for you to have used and you did not disappoint! To answer your question about what was distracting him during the performance was that a fan had made it onto the stage and was headed for Maurice and was detained by security before the situation got out of hand. And yes, our precious Robin kept his composure and didn't miss a single word because of it! A true testament to how amazing he was every time he performed live. And, on your recommendation, I will check out your Anjelina reactions. Looking forward to them.

Not only was Robin Gibb extraordinarily gifted musically, he stayed a professional (and did it with a big smile...), AND didn't miss a beat during this performance - all while a fan tried to storm the stage!
I agree with You, Chad - one can only benefit from keeping an open mind - and be willing (and eager...) to listen to upcoming artists.💕
(One day, once You've gotten through all of our Bee Gees requests, I'd like to see Your reaction to his final Masterpiece, "THE TITANIC REQUIEM" - which he did in collaboration with his youngest son, Robin-John.
Robin's solo performance in "DON'T CRY ALONE" [which was completely spontaneous...] is a Masterpiece within a Masterpiece...).

Robin's hand gestures were obvious and vital to his performance. He actually seeks out notes like a conductor. When he is about to hit a high note, he physically reaches for it with his hands. To sustain a note he clenches his fingers. He is acting out the song physically to match his voice. A lot of people cover Bee Gees songs but often avoid standards that were sung by Robin because they know they are inimitable. As you said, his voice is unique and nobody has been able to duplicate it. His vibrato is astounding and his inflections are marvelous and yet so natural and instinctive to him. He did a much better version on The Midnight Special in the 70's He really ad-libbed a lot and got into it, eyes closed and belting it out full voice. Just for your own interest to compare, not asking for a reaction -

He was simply perfect……one of my favorite songs and I believe the best performance of it …..he was looking stage right because a girl had gotten on to the stage …..he was smiling and didn’t miss a beat …..I’m 70 years old and remember when this song first came out and was on the radio ……in those days Robin sang lead in almost every song …..

I wondered for YEARS who was there OR what was going on? I've read about a girl trying to get on the stage BUT recently I read, from someone that was there, that Andy had walked in. THIS makes more sense to me to account for Robin's grin, the applause, and the photo flashes! Perhaps it was both? But this is my FAVORITE rendering of this song!! Robin looked and sounded GREAT here!! ❤❤

In 1974 Andy would have been only 15 or 16 years old being he was born in 1958. Was he that popular yet ?
In any case Robin’s smile was Adorable 🥰.

@@anastasie_0214 - His three #1 hits were at age 19 his own band was playing locally prior to that. Plus, this concert was in Australia so..... Yeah, they probably did know who he was, but I can't swear to that. I'm just going by what one of the people said who was there. 🤷‍♀️

I don't think most people would have recognized Andy in 1974. He was still close to 3 years off from becoming known (1st record released April 1977). I was a young adult in 1974 & a Bee Gee fan since the 60s & I wouldn't have had a clue who he was.

@@wnsafford1854 - I wouldn't have either, especially being older than him, but, as I said, this was IN Australia so maybe that's the difference.

You might be so wright, it is the way he grinned, my first thought was by looking at him, it was someone he knew, because he was so pleased!

🥀I've always loved this song it's soothing but Powerful. There's so much I could say about the Brothers Bee Gees but you did a great job on them. Your right no one can replace The Brother's Bee Gees 🥀☝️🥀

This song is very reminiscent of the period that it was written in (around 66/67) and makes me think of the Moody Blues.

That long hold near the end was Robin and Barry together. Their voices together were another whole sound from each individually. Thanks for the reaction. 👍
Could you please react to Every Second, Every Minute from 1971? It was a surprise to me when I heard it a year or so ago.

Love when their voices blended or started over-lapping each other! Truly Mesmerizing!!!😍
Love their trading off on lead verses in a song! And adding backing-vocals for each other. Each of their voices accentuated the other!
I can usually instantly hear when Robin comes in, BUT not in a couple songs. One where they are so perfectly blended is in the song 'Fanny Be Tender.' I swear I Can't tell who is who there in certain parts. Now That don't happen Often!!😉

This whole concert is pure eye candy for us Robin girls, and ear candy on his lead songs. Incredibly impressive that he never missed a beat or an amazing high note, especially on such a serious song, at the distraction. Which I had heard had something to do with Maurice and Yvonne but maybe the others on here know better about that.

Not sure if anyone answered your question but there was a concert goer who tried to get up on stage and security tackled them so that’s what got his attention. I watch another guy who actually analyzes videos who breaks down the singing and voice performances. He explained why Robin kept looking to his right and mentioned that Robin was able to not miss a beat even being distracted. True masterpiece

Many professional singers, including those in opera and Broadway, will use their hand to screen out environmental noises. We hear in two ways, through air conduction and bone conduction. The sound that comes to the ear via bone conduction is not distorted by environmental sounds.
