@@sylvasilva2851 I think Atriox and Chief are starting become something like Yin and Yang. Atriox was an enslaved soldier for the Covenant, sent into suicdie mission after suicide mission, sent to die for beliefs not his own. He viewed his fellow Jiralhanae brethren and the alien species inside his Banished as brothers. He began to shows signs of Independence and free will during the Battle of Algolis which lead to his rebellion and the birth of the Banished. It’s somewhat entertaining to see so many comments that are REALLY defensive over the fact that Master Chief could’ve won that fight. It’s okay to have a villain who’s capable of outmatching our heroes, because our heroes NEED to be challenged, I mean a good comparison would be to Nolan’s Batman trilogy, with how Bane is able to clean our protagonist up. It sets up a precedent that this isn’t going to be easy, our hero isn’t going to waltz in and win the day. There’s going to be a struggle, and when the Master Chief does win, damn will the payoff feel truly great. Although if we want to ignore the narrative elements of this, and observe the facts, Atriox took on 3 Spartan IIs and won so, if anything, having John even resist by putting in a few hits actually makes him just as impressive, if not more impressive, compared to 3 Spartan IIs. Despite him losing that fight, it also made him come across as even more of a bad ass in my opinion, so I LOVED the way this was handled. Although saying that, yes he was ambushed and caught off guard but he very decisively lost IMO. I think Atriox would be more likely to win even in a fair fight but Atriox would definitely struggle somewhat. My hope is that they reintroduce the Arbiter to the story and allow both him and the Chief to take on Atriox together. How fucking cool would that be.
My favorite comments are the ones where people whine and moan at Chief not instantly winning any battle. Because y’know, my FAVORITE heroes are the ones who never face any adversity or real danger. (sarcasm) It was honestly a breath of fresh air seeing Atriox beat Chief. I know we saw the Didact... sort of(?) beat Chief at times, using his Forerunner tech, but let’s be real, it was nowhere near as impressive as Atriox using his cunning, strength, and fearsome arsenal to dismantle the Spartan. He always has a way of making an entrance, ambushing super soldiers and booting them off with a badass quip.
If he hadn't, the Chief would've: the Weapon locked her down which had trapped her for Atriox. The Chief was then supposed to retrieve her and get her back to the Infinity for deletion. He just never got the chance because of Atriox's attack.
Atriox hardly can be considered a blown out villain. Yeah, he killed innocent people and all but he has an honorable cause, his actions always favor the banished and for extension, his species. He gives an opportunity to anyone willing to listen. His pursuit in Zeta Halo is not to conquer the galaxy, he wants insurance for the Brutes and that they will prosper. Over all, he's still an underdog, in the face of the Covenant, the UNSC and the Created.
He’s smarter than the other brutes. Especially since Esherum hyped up his battle with the Chief for so long. Atriox would never do something like that.
@@sanducatan5775 I'd say that Escharum is more of an old-school Brute while Atriox is a new-era Brute. Ironicall, old-school Brutes would've never allowed for someone like Atriox to take their roles as leaders. Escharum allowed Atriox to be the leader of the Banished despite Escharum being the one who mentored Atriox. I guess Escharum saw a proper future for the Jiralhanae inside Atriox and allowed Atriox to be the boss.

So did the banished wipe out the guardians along with the entire unsc fleet? If that’s the case, that is absolutely badass, atriox was hellbent on revenge for his planet.
When Cortana was contained by the weapon she lost control of her Guardians but it does seem like the Banished destroyed one because there’s a dead Guardian that can be seen on the horizon of Zeta Halo.
I love how Atriox’s intelligence and defiance to Cortana posed a larger threat and made the created storyline feel relevant but also being wrapped up to make way for the Banished. Just need the Flood to return now
So as badass as the Banished are who made the Covenant think twice about facing them, beat the Flood in conventional warfare, curb stomp humanities most powerful ship and greatest soldier in 4 minutes, to single handedly push back Cortana's forces that field forerunner weapons that can pacify entire systems and crack planets. Made Cortana as crazy as she was regret her decisions she up until that point believed whole heartedly in. What does that say about the Spirit of Fire and her crew? An aging ship retrofitted for military logistical support, low on manpower and using outdated but modified equipment. They fought the Banished who had them outnumbered, outgunned, and outmatched in everyway to a stalemate on the Ark.
Agreed however remember that Humans are the reclaimers and that they have a AI who has had more time to research the Ark. Plus during the early days of their war their sole ship was destroyed which I bet has limited the Banished combat and tactical capabilities, unless somehow they got word to their fleet which I doubt.
In Halo: Shadows of Reach it's revealed that Atriox managed to contact Escharum and directed him to find a Forerunner Portal on Reach like the one on Earth from Halo 3. The Banished and their allied forces, including another major ex-Covenant faction called the Keepers of the One Freedom, searched the planet for it. At the same time, Blue Team was sent to the planet to retrieve 3 cryo-bins and a lockbox from a hidden cryo-vault in CASTLE Base for Halsey. They were supposed to somehow hold the key to defeating Cortana. In hindsight, which is basically confirmed by the Infinite Audio Logs, they were what Halsey needed to create the Weapon: presumably her remaining cloned brains from the creation of Cortana. The Portal was located beneath CASTLE Base so by following the Spartans, the Banished located it. A human acolyte of the Keepers of the One Freedom triggered the portal and once it was open, Atriox was able to just fly through in a Banished Lich with several of his top warriors, some of which are a few of the Targets of Opportunity in Infinite. Atriox was then extracted by Escharum and left his forces on the Ark behind to hold it in his absence while he and the Banished in this galaxy departed to attend to a "greater purpose" of some kind. Presumably Zeta Halo and the Endless. As for the Spirit of Fire, when Atriox arrived, the Keepers of the One Freedom hijacked his Lich and flew it back through the Portal to the Ark before it closed. The Keepers are religious fanatics who still believe in the Great Journey and all of that jazz and they wanted to fire Halo from the Ark still. They were opposed by forces from the Banished led by Pavium and Voridus from Awakening the Nightmare, forces from the Spirit of Fire and the Ferrets, a deep cover ONI special operations team made almost entirely out of Spartan 3s that were undercover in the Keepers. However, the Keepers were helped by Covenant soldiers who were stranded on the Ark and survived due to the shields of Truth's ship and Intrepid Eye, a rogue and INCREDIBLY powerful Forerunner AI who has her own dark plans for the galaxy. She's a major antagonist in multiple books and is incredibly hard to defeat. Very powerful, manipulative and she has proven to be damn near invulnerable. Without Cortana around, Intrepid Eye would be the most dangerous AI enemy of the Halo story and she frankly WAS before Halo 5. However, Cortana's too powerful even for her due to Cortana's control over the Domain. Without that though, Cortana would be no match for Intrepid Eye. In the end, the struggle leads to the Keepers being almost completely annihilated, leaving only their leader Castor and a single Elite who had defected from the Banished in Shadows of Reach. They learn about Halo's true purpose and abandon their plans to fire it in favor of getting vengeance on all of their enemies. They're still on the Ark somewhere. The Banished forces took heavy losses, but Pavium and Voridus both survived. The Spirit of Fire only lost a pilot while one of the Ferrets was killed too. The Covenant took heavy losses as well, but they're still active on the Ark and scheming. As for Intrepid Eye, she was FINALLY destroyed by the Spirit of Fire which also took out the Ark's ability to fire Halo for the time being.

I won't lie...I was extremely satisfied to see Atriox make Cortana shocked at seeing Master Chief defeated and, supposedly, gone forever. After she destroyed his homeworld, and murdering his people in cold blood, it was high time she got a taste of her own medicine.
Did she just blow up his home planet in front of him? I need to understand more about the interactions between Atriox and Cortana to understand what led to these events. Are they explained in the games audio logs or elsewhere?
It’s likely the same sort of ultimatum she issued to the rest of the galaxy when she showed her hand at the end of Halo 5. She was trying to get the Banished to stand down and surrender their weapons, bowing to her new galactic order. Atriox refused because…. Well, we’ve seen his history with the Covenant.
Yes that was the brute homeworld. And what lead to it was that Cortana was enforcing her will upon all beings in the galaxy to either submit or fave destruction. She did it to humanity, Sangheili, Unngoy worlds and then her attention turned to the Banished and so she contacted Atriox leading to the scene you see in this game.

Atriox is the anti-chief, and likely better (till plot armor kicks); Chief was all but gifted his power (Spartan Program, Librarians gift in H4), Atriox gained power through trials and tribulations, he forged himself. Chief is driven by duty, Atriox is driven (mostly) by vengeance, against the convenant, and now the UNSC. Cortana being stupid made it that much worse. Atroix is alone, he doesn't have a super intelligent AI helping him at every turn, and while the Banished likely have a war room of generals, he drives the entirety of the Banished through their belief in him/his ideals. UNSC/ONI throws a fit anytime Chief gets out of line because hes a pawn to them, despite the crazy heroic things he's done. (The "giving the covenant back their bomb" scene made him a legend among the lower eschelons of the UNSC, (though; this actually came into play in Halo 4 during the ship scene with Chief disobeying the order to turn over cortana). Overall humanity worships him as a hero but he really isn't a leader in the way atriox is. He's the perfect villian for Chief, its a shame we have to be sidelined with the Endless, more than likely.
I used to scoff at the idea that the Covenant had been concerned with the Banished, I used to think that they never really bothered to take care of them and that Isabel just had been feed post war propaganda or something when she told their story. But now, after seeing how Atriox stood up against Cortana, getting back at her, hurting her, I do start to think that the Banished truly are a force to be reckoned with.
Is it just me or Atriox talks to Cortana with a great deal of hatred? Like he would tear her limb from limb if she wasn't a digital construct? Can't say I blame him though.
Probably because he’s proud of what he’s become and his choices made him that. It’s a curious thought from cortana because we are all going to die eventually anyway; it was probably a point of curiosity to her as she likely considered herself immortal in her new state.
I think its because cortana is full of regret of what she has done and become and wants to know about atriox. to which him not changing anything in his life cause his choices, bad or good, are his alone and what made him who he is. in a way cortana respects and admires that and wanted to know before she tries to kill them both.

Plus they both have crazy dictator eyes
This is actually a great comparison. From a big transfomers fan and a huge fan of that show I can see the similarities a lot, the only thing atriox needs is someone like starscream to beat up
Also they both survived an almost impossible situation to survive, Megatron survived the space bridge explosion and atriox survived that planet being destroyed
But I disagree with Megatron seeming monstrous because Megatron doesn't resemble a monster like atriox just a very tuff leader, also Megatron doesn't have a raspy voice in TF Prime he only has a raspy voice in g1

Atriox is turning out to be as good with one-liners and badass phrases as Chief.
@@sylvasilva2851
I think Atriox and Chief are starting become something like Yin and Yang.
Chief was a brainwashed child-soldier made by ONI to fight for the UNSC. He was literally trained to follow the orders he was given, without question. He never had his own idependeng thoughts or ideas, he was always following the orders of others. Believing that what he is doing is for the good of humanity. However, like Atriox, he began to show signs of independence and free will throughout Halo 4 and Halo 5, and even in Halo Infinite.
Both are viewed as legends among their people and they have rightfully earned it.
@@WhyTho525 I honestly think this is shown best from Chief's angle with his respect for Escharum. OG Trilogy Chief wouldn't of done that. He would have spit a one liner and shot him, but not now.
I do also find it interesting that even after EVERYTHING, Atriox didn't just flat out butcher Cortana. He gave her time and an option to surrender multiple times when we all know he could have easily obliterated her
@@raizenr2387 I believe part of why he gave her time was to really hammer in her defeat. You can see and hear her shock at him being the one who used The Weapon on her already, but you could tell that she was simultaneously distraught and at a complete loss for words at Chief's apparent death. She was imprisoned, cut off from her AI allies and the guardians she had under her control, and the person who (despite everything that happened between them) she cared about the most appeared to be dead.
Well said!!!
My favorite comments are the ones where people whine and moan at Chief not instantly winning any battle. Because y’know, my FAVORITE heroes are the ones who never face any adversity or real danger. (sarcasm)
It was honestly a breath of fresh air seeing Atriox beat Chief.
Despite atriox being the villian he did the whole halo universe a favor by getting rid of that insane ai who would have killed alot of more people
If he hadn't, the Chief would've: the Weapon locked her down which had trapped her for Atriox.
What does that say about the Spirit of Fire and her crew? An aging ship retrofitted for military logistical support, low on manpower and using outdated but modified equipment. They fought the Banished who had them outnumbered, outgunned, and outmatched in everyway to a stalemate on the Ark.
The Spirit of Fire crew are the ultimate human chads.
Agreed however remember that Humans are the reclaimers and that they have a AI who has had more time to research the Ark. Plus during the early days of their war their sole ship was destroyed which I bet has limited the Banished combat and tactical capabilities, unless somehow they got word to their fleet which I doubt.
I honestly can't wait to see the Spirit of Fire show up in a mainstream halo game in the future. Hopefully soon

Infinite just made Atriox even more cold than in HW2
nothing can be more cold than Atriox trying to sell a shitty car for $6000
@@batmanneedssome200 Bruh those Halo Wars 2 ads were just straight gold
Atriox is a character which we as players should never fight because he's one of those villains that although can be beaten can never be destroyed
That's the thing. He is not a villain. He is a soldier. He is doing right by his people.
@@dentalgrind technique yes but he is an antagonist and an enemy of humanity even if he is a hero and legend of the Banished
Yes he be like the prophets or truth and will be always there from a far and there will also be someone just above atroix like the leader of the endless or whatever
@@zinzanbrooke2479 He's not supposed to be an enemy of humanity, that theory is really dumb. He didn't blame all Elites for the genocide their kind did to his, why would he blame all humans for the UNSC's Cortana especially when he has humans in the Banished?
@@Luxembourgish Well it's the prophets and their lies Atriox hates and how his people and many others were slaves to the covenant that's why his Mace is called Chainbreaker, as for being an enemy of humanity he is even if it's nothing personal. He and the banished are still responsible for millions of deaths of humans both during and after the covenant war and even if he doesn't hate humans he sure doesn't trust them and most humans in the banished were purged or are used as tools to use forerunner tech
The more i look at it that uppercut really sent atriox back he just recovered awfully fast
I miss John Di Maggio’s voice, but this is the same voiced used for MK11 Shao Khan and Injustice 2 Atrocitus, so I’m still happy.
Really?, Damn then it’s cool to see the same VA from both games to here
Lowkey atriox is a badass, he’s one of the few most effective villains masterchief has ever faced and still beat the crap out of chief, and even after his death not a single one of his men gave up the fight for his vision, he’s a true leader in my opinion 🤷♂️💯
Atriox is the anti-chief, and likely better (till plot armor kicks);
Chief was all but gifted his power (Spartan Program, Librarians gift in H4), Atriox gained power through trials and tribulations, he forged himself.
I mean she did blow up Doisac. I'd be pretty pissed too. Lol
"I would change nothing."
I know that's probably a line that's really important, but I can't put my finger on how.
We defend humanity
Honestly impressed master cheifa punches did anything to atriox
Kinda funny that Ike amadi voices a Atriox, a character that everyone loves, and Locke a character most people hate. Range people
Kinda wish they didn’t change the voice actor. The new one is good but the original one was better IMO
Yes, the original voice actor was much better. He gave more charisma and depth to the character and made Atriox sound like an actually intelligent being like he truly is.
This voice just makes him sound like some cartoon villain.
@@WhyTho525 I wouldn’t go that far, but he sounds too much like a monster trying to intimidate. Where the old one was just perfect. He was intimidating but had character behind it. Also, the voice actor of Marcus Phoenix did the original voice where the new one is Agent Locke’s voice actor

Yeah, I might've went a bit far with saying that. But I just fucking loved DiMaggio as Atriox. He was perfectly casted like Michael Wincott as Truth in Halo 2.
I knew that was Atriox in the ending
It just occurred to me Master Chief weighs about 1k pounds and Atriox is lifting him up with EASE with one hand...
Come on bro do you even lift 😎
wow what a great story! another big character defined by tragedy in war, looks like chief's inner circle of friends are always sufferers so they should B called: Chief's Dead Poets Of Society Inner Circle"
The jirlharnae are my favorite alien species in the halo universe and atriox is my favorite leader among them. He has my respect for defying the wayward ways of the covenant and forging his own path with the banished. My favorite faction in halo.
I love the Banished, and there leader, Atriox. BTW what's the Created?
6:47 Wait does this imply Cortana believes in _Gravity_ now?
Uh what???
Somehow 343 Industries didn’t add the audio in the legendary ending, but in a video they added clues by putting audio to make it interesting.
He's the only one who actually looks like the brutes from Halo 2
I really can't recognize atriox without the face tattoo
Not face tattoo, its actually the banished logo as a white war paint
The master chief of Spartans meets the master chief of Brutes
Dude atrioxs voice actor would make a great megatron
Honestly, I was just thinking he reminds me of megatron, specifically from transformers prime, the idw comics, and the Netflix series. From his origin story of leading a rebellion against a tyrannical regime, to his philosophy of securing a positive future for his people through brutal and bloody methods, his war with humanity and their Allies, right down to his mission of avenging or restoring his home planet.
Makes you realize that Atriox is a lot like megatron, and the banished are basically decepticons.

What if the writers of Atriox took inspiration from Megatron ?
Does anyone think Atriox is the Thanos of Halo?
I
Is it just me or does Atriox look different in the final scene? Like he's missing his white face tatoo/markings
He did get blown up 😅
Mans lived through an explosion which severely damaged the ring, he definitely won’t be looking the same after that
He is missing his war paint
His face got burned in the explosion that he somehow survived.
your big brother and little brother get into a fight over who gets to play the Xbox first.
What the toddler sees: 0:49-1:19
Atriox's planet was destroyed by cortana, so he took away her world as well. At least she thought chief was dead
Tartarus deserved more so I'm glad they kept Atriox going
Atriox treats Master Chief like a rag doll.
Nobody mentioning how his appearance is different . His face is scarred and his eyes is glowing red
His face is scarred from that explosion that had destroyed part of the ring.
Douglas and John now knows what means to an odst defeat.
Cortana messed with the wrong jiralhanae.
I so want to see a rematch between chief and atriox. This time chief kicks his ass
