Extremely detailed video. Amazing flawless examples. You can see how much dedication and effort the author had. This is REALLY great content. Congrats!

This is one of the best videos I have seen on how to set up a GoPro. You actually showed the differences between the settings. While it takes time to set that up, that was really helpful. Thank you so much,
WOW! Awesome video! I have literally watched 50+ videos trying to understand the settings for my new GoPro (going snorkeling in Hawaii for the first time ever!). You video is by far the best video I have watched. You explain everything so well. THANK YOU!!!
So many times I've watched gopro videos explaining underwater shooting, this video is the most detailed, . Now I'm using a gopro hero 10, but this video is what I applied to my gopro hero 10 settings. Greetings, I'm a beach boy, the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia
By far the best video for underwater vids with a GoPro. I come back to this video from time to time to refresh my memories before I go under water. Great work Mic.
I'm so glad I found your channel. You explain stuff others don't. I've always wondered how different FOVs would look like underwater because water distorts light a bit different than air does. Also, I like to shoot raw and with flat profiles as much as possible to edit in post and you showed just that, moat other gopro channels use only auto settings, and a few that do show how to use more manual modes never show it underwater. Great job man, you just got a subscriber :)
That aside, these tips are essential 🙌🏽! I always tell ppl that bright (mid-day) sun & water clarity make the biggest impact on how UW footage ends up. Great video!
Just came across your channel. I am blown away by your talent and kindness in sharing your tips. God bless you! Thank you for all the time and effort you put in to making your videos. They're fantastic.
You are the master of tips! The third person to recommend The Snorkel Shop report to me!! I subscribed- YAY! I think you taught me more about my GoPro than the manual. Thank you! Mahalo!
I just got a GoPro Hero9 and I know absolutely nothing about it. That is, until I watched this video. I have been practicing in my pool. Though I can't go deeper than 8ft, I can still test out the camera, mount, and various settings. At end of July I am going snorkeling off Catalina Island, CA. this video is helping me become better perpared and what to expect. Thanks much!
I'm not using a gopro. I have an Olympus Tough I will attempt to use the same concepts. I'm glad you are teaching concepts and techniques. I hope some of them "sink" in.
your videos are great. I can hear and I like that you have all the words printed because I'm a slow learner on stuff like that and reading the information helps me retain better so thank you! You explain well.
OMG this is the first GoPro underwater video tips video that I actually watched all of the way through! Well done! Your ability to explain what so many others cant is amazing! Subscribed.
Man, these are great tips! I do most of these settings already but you filled in some stuff I've been missing, like the weight belt. Take it easy and thanks!!
Amazing video, a one stop shop for everything. And everything with clear example videos with comparisons. I wish all my tutorials were this complete and well explained.
Thanks for the info! I have my own RUclips channel where I post my dive videos and they never seem to turn out as good as yours. You’ve given me lots of food for thought.
So many variables and challenges when filming underwater and slowly you learn to improve your game with loads of practice and watching awesome videos like yours, filming in shallow water is always the best and considering most life lives first few meters
dude this video was the best I've come across for help with beginner filming underwater. Straight to the point with visuals for all. amazing. thank you! subbed!
I keep stumbling onto your videos as I'm learning and they are the best, now subscribed. So much useful information, so well put together by an awesomely cool bloke. I"m a big fan!
I bought gopro9 last week as my first diving camera. For sure, I feel dumb now 😅 and I found you here. I am enjoying your video with your happy and love energy about the water. Plz keep helping me out till becomeing an expert!! Thx and love and peace ✌
Love this video thank you Mic! My family goes to Hawaii every year (until this year because of COVID) and in the past I have brought my GoPro hoping to take some amazing underwater footage but have come away with garbage. Looking forward to trying some of these tips out! Thank you soooo much!
Hey man I just bought the GoPro Hero 8. This summer I will have the diving license and I will start my dives here in Italy (Sardinia). I wanted to tell you that this video is very useful to me. My underwater videos will be super. Thanks so much. Greetings from Italy
Love these tips and your presentation--I giggled a few times. *fish swims by too fast* "Hey, wait!" Just got a Hero8 and looking forward to trying it out with your tips later this week in Hawaii!
You are fabulous teacher and I have a benefit from your tips. But unfortunately I am not interested to use GoPro 4 and just in case .At last time I do not much shoot video so my tour is different. It is ok .
This is amazing. Even though i don't understand sign language and your sounds don't really make sence with the words that are shown. I really feel like this is super comprehensif. I'm subbing straight away, i'm so amazed by this
WOW! This is sooo great! Thank you very much for making these videos. I just got a refurbished GoPro Hero 5 for Christmas and am trying to figure it out. I did not realize there was not a zoom feature built, in and watch one of your other videos, which then lead me to this one. I'm hoping to start filming all the weekend adventures that my kids and I go on to post for family friends and others who want to know more about what life in Hawaii (Oahu) is like and things that you can do with family and friends that are in expensive (since the cost-of-living is so high here). I'm hoping to especially focus on things you can do with kids. It will be a long time before I'm posting anything of value, but am hoping that by watching more of your channel I can learn enough to be able to let others share in the Aloha of just some of what the Aina offers. I'm REALLY happy I watched this before getting into the water so that I can get some additional accessories, like the double handle mount. Thank you again for creating this channel.
Great video and tips. I appreciate the detail. The information is presented at a speed (not too fast, not too slow) to help in understanding the concepts. I also like that you show video examples and shots of the GoPro screen selections (very helpful when learning how to select settings on the GoPro). Thank you!!
Well done brother 👍🏻.. probably the best underwater camera settings tutorial that I will happily apply to my insta360 as well as the gopro on my next dive 👍🏻
Absolutely brilliant video. So informative and easy to follow. The example shots to illustrate what you’re talking about really helped. I subscribed to your channel after seeing this video so keep em comin’!
Thank you SO so much!! These are the most helpful tips I have found! I am a newbie and you go very in depth. Even when I don't understand what something means, you explain it within the next minute. WOOHOO! so excited to put these to the test!
Hi Mic! Thank you so much for your video! We are freedivers and we do videos since many years! Like you, we have a dual handle mount, we have a pool and a dome too. But we never use Wide FOV, we prefer use the Superview FOV because we often film ourselves too. Regarding the other camera settings, we film in Protune, in 1080 60fps, with HyperSmooth on, EV Comp 0 or -0.5 (it depends on the depth), White Balance: Native, but we always use ISO Min and ISO Max both equals to 100, and we always set the Sharpness at "Low" and the Color as "Flat", like you do. The other difference we have with you, is that we never use filters, because we go under 20 meters, and if we use filters, we have to add or remove it during the dive... If you want, you can have a look into our videos (all in Corsica Island), it probably interest you!
Perfect video! Simple but still detailed explanation on how, when and what. I love the clips that really show before and after, with and without sun etc. I have no experience in filming underwater, so this clip is a gold mine! :D I agree with others here in the comment section, I would love to see how to color grade underwater clips :D
You my man are AWESOME!!! That was a great video and you had me in stitches with your facial interactions and hand movements. I was disappointed with my underwater images and videos on my recent trip to the Maldives, and you have given me some great tips to take better shots on my next under water adventure. Keep up the bloody good work. Cheers from Gold Coast Australia
I really liked your video a lot! Simple, easy to understand and very informative! I don't mind getting notifs from your videos from time to time. ^^ Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. :) I'll buy gro pro 8 because of you. 😁
Dude, you always have the best tips, thank you! I just upgraded from the GoPro Hero 1, yes, the O.G., to a Hero 7 Black and absolutely love it! I have been obsessed with stills for the past several years and still love them but video is so much different. Your videos have helped a lot, thanks again! Keep it up
Something I’d still love to see you try as it goes with underwater filming. When you’re deep enough to need a light, you get a subject close and it shows up a bit red due to the filter. Adding blue filters to the lights should eliminate that. At least that’s what I saw on another video. Care to give it a try?
This guy communicates better than 99% of people...WELL DONE!!!
