Wow! A messy kitchen is the sign of a good cook...or a good party!! What a lovely set of traditions surrounding a wedding. Great job- see you next time- Love from CT!
When I saw the start of the video and the condition of your kitchen I thought “ holy cannoli, I know Chana is not liking waking up to that.” But I knew you had a wonderful and blessed occasion/party/meal the night before. Thank you for sharing all the information about the tradition. What a beautiful blessing your faith community gives the newlyweds. Have a blessed Shabbat!
Mr. Firefly is a lucky man to find such a lovely woman like you who wanted to learn and live the orthodox life. You are a lucky lady to find a handsome kind man.
I love that your community has so many celebrations. It seems very joyous and connected, I love that! Also I am so happy you are getting all of these sponsorships. You go Channa!
this is actually a very cool concept for a video it's nice to see you live in the everyday life of the world aside from every body You are not like anyone and this is what makes you a special and exceptional person. I wish you a happy life and to everyone who reads my comment ❤️🥰💖😍😘🍓♥️
Thank you for showing us your life, a normal life like the rest of us. I feel some RUclipsrs fake it, but not you! Thank you! So needed your laugh today, great way to start my weekend! Have a great day, Shabbat and weekend with all your Fireflies!❤️☺️
I saw the photos on instagram and everything was just lovely. So do the newlyweds go on a honeymoon in your culture, Chana? I like that the wedding goes on for a week....what fun and the couple must feel very loved and supported.
Good job Chana! That was a lot of work. So good to hear how you and your husband work together on this. On Christmasevening when all our children and grandchildren come to our house my husband and I prepare food for about 30 people and that’s so fun to do every year! Working together as a team is the best to do!! Have a nice day 👋🏼👋🏼
I have to say that your family really knows how to throw a party. In California I was the creative arts director of our church and it was a bit large. Everyone wanted to come to a staff member's house for Bible study so we ended up with 45 people every Friday. I worked all weekend at church Saturday and three services on Sunday to get everybody in! Everyone would come at 4:00 and go swimming we would make dinner together, generally a barbecue and then my husband would need a Bible study and they would never go home until about midnight. So I understand. Oftentimes my husband would cook and I would always clean, or my housekeeper who happened to come to our Bible study would try to do the dishes but I wouldn't let her if I could help it. LOL but I agree I am much prefer my husband to do the cooking and I prefer to do the cleaning as he's just not into cleaning. But he does so many other things much better. He has a green thumb and it's good cook. And currently he takes care of me and kind of does almost everything except with the housekeepers take care of for us on Mondays. I think the dinner for the married couple is such a beautiful thing to do and such a timely thing to do in the beginning of their marriage where they can feel the love and have that extra little push in life. Personally I think you make the cleaning look really easy. You and your husband are gifted to care for others in that way. You do need a calm attitude about your home in order to share it properly. There's nothing more important than a human being not a table not a chair not a crumb on the floor. God bless you too that is beautiful. My favorite word. I will talk to you again soon.
I’ve just recently started to be intentional about putting my kitchen to bed every night. It does make a big difference when I wake up in the morning. Kudos to you and your hubby for undertaking this big celebration!!🎉
I imagine that you are a wonderful home school teacher. The way you explain things thoroughly and clearly makes it interesting to learn from you. Now I know about Sheva Brachot and I feel smarter than I was!
I feel like we are old girlfriends now that I see your kitchen looks like mine after I cook. Just makes you that much more endearing my friend. I have such social anxiety, and so admire people who have the talent to make people feel welcome and open up their home to family and friends. Hope you find time to relax after all the hard work. ❤
When my son got married everyone made him a sheva brachot at a nice kosher restaurant for all the days It was nice of you to have it at your house and put in all that hard work. Made it more personal and cozy
Chana, I am in the first 30 seconds of watching this video and I am laughing...not at you, for you. Of course, I will be watching to see how this turns around. You go, girl!
These videos help a lot, I live alone so I don't clean as much as I should, if I had roomates or a family I lived with I would feel the need to clean more to make a comfortable home for every one, but living alone I always think, "Just leave it a bit messy, I'm too tired to clean" since it's just for myself, I know that's not a good attitude to have. I will try to clean more and make a nice home for myself even if it is just me in this new year.
I made brownie bites a couple weeks ago, you are right, they are so cute and look great for serving! No more tearing brownies trying to get them out of a pan! I felt so accomplished!
The bride and groom were very lucky! What a special dinner you guys hosted for them. I love learning about the Jewish faith. Thank you for taking us on these journeys.
I love your face after you put the candles on the table...pure joy and a little exhausted. I love a party but hate the prep and clean up. I also am blessed to have a husband that likes to cook. Much love Rissy
Wow Superwoman strikes again. How lovely hosting for the newlyweds and how lovely for them dining out for a week - bliss. The menu sounded amazing. What a lot of work and cleaning up for yourselves, but I know you will do it with a willing heart. Blessings to you all.
Oh mercy for you, Chana!! I would have cried if I had seen that mess in the morning. But it is so lovely to have friends to dinner and your husband is an amazing cook. I know it is so exhausting and then not enough energy to clean that night. Bless you for that clean up.❤
I hosted a lunch party after services on 1st day Rosh Hashanah for 40 people. Salmon, gefilte fish, fish goujons, egg mayonnaise and various salads . Did all fish because we had creamy desserts. Great fun but the cleaning up afterwards is extremely hard work . You did a great job!!! Shannah Tova from London UK
Shana Tova!! What a lot of work. So much celebrating in an orthodox community! I see a big difference between reform, conservative and the orthodox communities.
Kosher Question: when you host a meal or have guests, do you let them know whether it's a dairy or meat meal before? So that they can leave enough time between meals/snacks if they've already eaten the other type of food?
Great question! Yes. Unless it’s a Shabbat or holiday meal where they will assume meat will be served. Exception being Shavuot where dairy is traditionally served, we serve meat for that holiday so we always let our guests know that we will be serving meat.
You are a rockstar dishwasher loader! 🤩 That was truly fascinating to watch you fit all of that in! I loved that nice, deep sigh you gave at the end. Ahhh, there’s nothing like a freshly cleaned kitchen!
Again, such an interesting video. Glad that you enjoyed the gathering for the celebration. My only question is there any special activity for the children? Shabbat shalom, Chana and family.
Hi Chana! Another wow for you and Daddy Firefly. the way you open your home for a Simcha, along with preparing food, ( and still around the time of Rosh Hashana,) there is so much work to be done, but you are thinking of others! And you are after birth! Amazing! I have made a couple Sheva brachot meals. The difference is we had ours catered. I could not prepare for it ourselves. May Hashem bless you and the Firefly family with continued good health, Simcha, and to be able to make many more Smachot in your home!
what a task ,well worth the time ,congratulations to the couple what a amazing way to spend the first weeks of married life more blessings with freinds and family xx
I love how real you are... a lot of creators seem to want to show the world an unrealistic view of their life. No one is perfect, no matter how hard you try..and I appreciate your realness. Thank you for sharing a piece of your life💙
Chana, you clean up exactly like I do - run the dishwater, hand wash the rest, and save another load for the dishwasher 😊👍👌 I love a clean kitchen and I love wiping counter tops 😀. At my children’s and close friends’ homes, they know I will grab a cloth and start cleaning the counters automatically 🤣. It’s what I love to do ❤️
I totally agree with waking up to a clean kitchen. Many years ago when my daughters were little there were so many nights when I was too tired to clean even one more thing. But, I quickly learned that when I wake up to a messy kitchen I become grumpy and my girls did not need a grumpy Mom for sure. So, I had to adapt quickly. It wasn't overnight but life was much better when Mom woke up to a clean kitchen lol. This video reminds me of when I used to work with a campus Chabad house. I handled the kitchen. We used to host 50-60 college students plus members of the community every Shabbos. I would stay late after Havdala and clean, clean, clean 🥵. Nowadays, I hear they host at least 200-250 students every Shabbos BH!
Your kitchen looks like mine right now! I had to clean the table off just to eat breakfast and watch your video!! Now it’s time for me to clean!! How did you mange to get your kitchen clean with no interruptions???
There were interruptions :) I cleaned while baby firefly was sleeping so that was the big thing. The older kids mostly played and it was after breakfast and before lunch so they didn’t need much :)
@@jaroffireflies doesn’t it feel great to have time to focus on a project? I usually do stuff at night when kids are asleep, just so I can enjoy cleaning and knock it out! Your kitchen looks fantastic!

I hope you will always have the energy and stamina to be such a blessing, not only to your own family, but to others, as well! 🙂 Shabbat Shalom; enjoy your weekend! Rosemarie 💖
I definitely don’t do it all :) But I’ll tell you what helps me the most is that my husband cooks for Shabbat and holidays most of the time, and that I wake up early most days so I have quiet time to reset and get work done before my kids wake up :)
I am just in awe of you! As a guest being hosted I would feel so embarrassed to leave your house in that state OR as a host I would feel so anxious if my kitchen looked like this.. and you are just taking it in stride! That's truly inspiring 🥰
You are right, the day starts better when you can walk in to a clean kitchen. It's nice that your community is an extended version of family for events like marriage, death, and birth.
What a rewarding thing to be able to do for newlywed friends. It was so hard to see your new chairs messy! Maybe invest in nice chair covers for parties that might get rowdy. And lol, you didn't really need to say that your husband had cooked. We saw the counters and stove. 🤣
A great video today Chana! Thanks! You’ve inspired me to go clean MY kitchen!! 😂 What did you end up wearing to that next Sheva Brachot meal? I’m sure you looked amazing. Wishing you and all the Fireflies Shabbat Shalom. Lesley 😊
Blue land is an awesome company! The next time I need cleaning supplies I will be sure to check them out! Since you had meat in this meal or all of the desserts having some kind of dairy substitute? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question
You my friend are a better woman than I! I don’t want the party and certainly not the mess! It’s bad enough when the kids and grandkids all come home at the same time! Prop’s to you! 😊
Thank you for sharing this with us. Wishing the couple a lifetime of happiness. I don’t trust my auto correct not to mess up if I try and Google them to get the correct spelling. Rather than having someone help serve, would you consider hiring a cleaning service to help the day after? I hope that’s not too nosey a question but I was just wondering. I’m sorry I’m so late replying I was running around all day today and then thought oh no it’s Thursday! It’s Jar of Fireflies day! I need to get to RUclips - NOW!!!! Editing to add - another nosey question I’m sorry. I live alone and I don’t cook a whole terrible amount so I basically run my dishwasher once a week sometimes it might even be a week and a half. I rinse my dishes really well before they go into the dishwasher (I know I know I know bad for the environment but I need them rinsed or they will smell LOL). How many loads did your dishwasher run?
I did just two loads in the dishwasher for this event plus the handwashing. We used disposable plates etc for the meal to be served on / with because we just don’t own that many plates etc :) I wouldn’t hire anyone to help clean up because just like the wait staff, I have a really hard time paying someone to do what I can do myself.
Information while you clean😁👍 It is interesting that at each separate dinner, you have to have a new face. And I could see how you would have to co-ordinate with others to ensure that you didn't have the same new face.
Thank you so much for sharing your life and culture with us! ❤ My husband and I have somewhat the same arrangement when it comes to cooking and cleaning. He loves to cook and I'd rather clean. I am now going to Google the reason or importance of 10 men being present. Also, you are gorgeous 😍
I am a good cook but oh boy can I leave a mess 😱my mother said I should have been a chef having people cleaning up after me. Missed baby Firefly. 🌹🌹❤️Ireland
I can't wait to go to lunch with my uncle. Then I'll do Instacart, and then I'll clean a little. I got to sleep in, my head nurse came today. OMG, that's a lot to clean, Chana.
I like your cutting board. What are the plastic red attachments in the corners? It seems as if it would improve my life. Thanks. I can’t put my kitchen “to bed”. My husband wakes up sometime between two and four in the morning to make a snack. I love my husband but I’m not waking up then to clean the kitchen. I tell him to try to clean up from his snacks, but he rarely does.
What a wonderful tradition, Chana. Is there any chance of you posting some pictures here? I can't be the only one who doesn't have an Instagram account. If Baby Firefly will give you time❤
Hi Channa , very interesting, we Ashkenazim do not have 7 brajot, but we mil the jatan the same way, jasan for us is the singer in the sinagogue😂. That always have braja at home, cleaning pass and the memories and the blessing stays. ps I need your GF hala recipe, because COVID The regular flour taste me really bad so I made a test with GF products and sucked. Today I made for the first time knishes with GF flour and where good. All my love❤️
So, is this 7 day celebration supposed to be in lieu of a honeymoon? If the couple will be having a honeymoon as well, must this celebration be done the first 7 days and then honeymoon or can it be done after they return?

Hanna, looking at the condition your kitchen was in really made me laugh. Reminded me of a frat house after a kegger.
😂😂😂 I’ve never seen a frat house after a party but I can imagine
I couldn’t have gone to sleep if my kitchen was in this state. You are so brave.
It was such a late night and we were all exhausted:)
A great video today Chana! Thanks! You’ve inspired me to go clean MY kitchen!! 😂
What did you end up wearing to that next Sheva Brachot meal? I’m sure you looked amazing.
Wishing you and all the Fireflies Shabbat Shalom.
Lesley 😊
Thanks Lesley! I ended up finding a nice blouse I hadn’t worn since I got pregnant so I chose that :)
I remember when you used to say mother of 3 ❤
Blue land is an awesome company! The next time I need cleaning supplies I will be sure to check them out! Since you had meat in this meal or all of the desserts having some kind of dairy substitute? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question
Great question! Yes, I’ll use a vegan replacement like applesauce instead of melted butter in the cake for example
Sounds like the ultimate mitsvah! Thanks for sharing Chana. Now rest! 🙂
Thank you 😊
This was so satisfying to watch😀 Well done! What is the yellow cleaning solution you are using to wipe everything?
If you watch the ad I did for Blueland a few minutes into the video I talk about it there :)
There us something very satisfying in cleaning....or watching cleaning!
So satisfying ☺️
You my friend are a better woman than I! I don’t want the party and certainly not the mess! It’s bad enough when the kids and grandkids all come home at the same time! Prop’s to you! 😊
Luckily I enjoy cleaning:)
The good thing about chocolate mousse is that even if it's not perfect, it's still delicious 😊
True!
Did you get to finish the emerald green dress you were working on in time to wear it to the wedding? If so, maybe you could show us how it turned out.
Sadly no, the fabric was too hard to work with. But I found a dress that arrived in time so it all worked out:)
We used disposable plates etc for the meal to be served on / with because we just don’t own that many plates etc :)
I wouldn’t hire anyone to help clean up because just like the wait staff, I have a really hard time paying someone to do what I can do myself.
Information while you clean😁👍 It is interesting that at each separate dinner, you have to have a new face. And I could see how you would have to co-ordinate with others to ensure that you didn't have the same new face.
So glad you enjoyed!
Thank you so much for sharing your life and culture with us! ❤
My husband and I have somewhat the same arrangement when it comes to cooking and cleaning. He loves to cook and I'd rather clean.
I am now going to Google the reason or importance of 10 men being present.
Also, you are gorgeous 😍
I know it's not always possible but I go for the clean-as-you-go method so I won't have a lot of work afterward.
I do that as well but as you said that’s not always possible:) I was not the one cooking :)
Oh my word! I'm exhausted just watching!
It was hard work but very satisfying!
You can't have everything, ?where would you put it?
The menu sounds delicious.
The menu was amazing :)
I noticed you washed your pans and put them in the dish drainer where you put your milk dishes. Will you have to kosher your dish drainer now?
Great question! No, everything was clean so there is no issue :)
Have you ever tried Grove? It's the same premise I love Grove they carry Mrs Meyers
I’ve not tried that company
I am a good cook but oh boy can I leave a mess 😱my mother said I should have been a chef having people cleaning up after me. Missed baby Firefly. 🌹🌹❤️Ireland
That’s like mr firefly, great cook but oh my messy!
Hello~~ love this video. What do you put in your mashed potatoes, so that they can be served with a meat dish?
Garlic, onion, olive oil, vegan butter alternative, and we can also use vegan milk alternatives but we tend not to use those
Awesome! Thank you.
@@heatherlashier1763 you are welcome
I can't wait to go to lunch with my uncle. Then I'll do Instacart, and then I'll clean a little. I got to sleep in, my head nurse came today. OMG, that's a lot to clean, Chana.
Have fun at lunch!
It came that way. It’s great because it doesn’t slip on the counters. I’m not sure where we got it, my husband purchased it
What a wonderful tradition, Chana.
Is there any chance of you posting some pictures here? I can't be the only one who doesn't have an Instagram account. If Baby Firefly will give you time❤
So true! I’ll see if I can get some over on the community tab later tonight ❤️
@@jaroffireflies Thank you Chana. I saw the pictures. Everything looked lovely. I hope you enjoyed being a guest tonight as the celebration continued.

Askenazim have Sheva Brachot too.
I’m so sorry that flour isn’t fasting good for you right now! Here’s the recipe for the gluten free challah: ruclips.net/video/0PUzgMR4JtU/видео.html

@@jaroffireflies thank you! Don’t be is an adventure to learn about
@@artcuriousbymnw no problem! :)
I was surprised that Bella didn't "clean" the kitchen floor for you. lol Did you have someone helping with baby firefly during the celebration?
Baby firefly was with us at the celebration:) one of us or our friends would hold him
So, is this 7 day celebration supposed to be in lieu of a honeymoon? If the couple will be having a honeymoon as well, must this celebration be done the first 7 days and then honeymoon or can it be done after they return?
If a couple honeymoons, they do it later
