    Thx for the review. Have the 826 just delivered and am waiting for new Audioquest speaker cable to show up so I can get rocking here! My old Tara Labs cable was oxidized after 20+ years so I upgraded the speaker cable. Running the Focals through a Rogue Sphinx v3 integrated amp (hybrid tube/SS). Ill keep you posted! BTW, I am replacing B&W 602s from 1999 and I also have a B&W ASW 608 sub if required, which I will probably keep hooked up for extremely low frequency response. Cheers

    It’s great when someone sells me the speakers I bought! Yes, I have the Chora 816 in black. I’ve been fantasizing about Kanta 2 to pair with my Nova, but seriously it’s hard to justify. If I had Kantas here to try in my home it would be a no brainer for sure, but aside from having something 5x the cost show them up the Choras are really impressive. It’s interesting to hear you threw so much power into them and that they loved it. Maybe I should think more about a Chora center rather than upgrading to Kantas? My room is smallish (11’ x 18’) and I’ve wondered if it’s too small for the Kanta 2s.

    I have the 826s in my home theater… they are fantastic. Reveal so much in recordings and movies but do it subtly that isn’t oppressive or harsh. These speakers offer lots of sparkle, drums symbols and cowbells sound absolutely real at times. Such a great value!

      Hi Carl. I have had the RP-280F and I'll say this, they have more bass. BUT, the mids and highs have a different sound all together with the Focals. I would give the Focal a listen if you could before purchasing to make sure you like the sound as it's quite different compared to the Klipsch.

    I have the 4 focal 806 and matching center channel speaker with Focal in ceiling speakers for a 5.2.1 system. I have the Onkyo Rz820 AVR and was wondering if a 5 Channel amp would be a good fit for this system to get better sound separation and what would you recommend for an affordable 5 Channel amp? Or would full separate system give me better channel separation? Any suggestions would greatly appreciated 👍

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad 3 года назад +2

      Hi, K Man! I would totaly recommend a power amp for your system. I feel like AVRs just don't cut it when it comes to power output. Don't get me wrong, they do a whole lot, but as far as power is concerend in a multi channel situation, you're better off with a power amp. We (Dreamedia) sell a lot of Marantz and Rotel power amps, but they can be pretty pricey. Check out the Outlaw Audio Model 5000x

    • @TechnoDad
      @TechnoDad 3 года назад

      Thank you, Bryan! So the Focals "fit" my room better than the Martin Logan's...what does this mean? The ML's design is bi-polar, meaning, it's better for them to be about 3 - 5 feet off the wall. I don't really have that kind of space, so I never felt like I was getting the full effect from the ML's. These Focal's have a front firing port which makes placing them up against a wall much easier without sacrificing and sound quality. If you were looking at the ML's I had, the ESL-Xs, then I would look at the Focal Aria 926, which is what I have right now. They are a more capable speaker than the Focal Chora 816. @@Dreamediaavi. How would the 816s work with a Marantz SR14 in a setup with just two speakers? Twelve years ago the SR14 was connected to Thiel CS2.3, but that was in a different house, different, bigger, living room. But the sound was great. To me, of course. @@fluxcapacitor3273 these 826s drop down to 2 ohms in the lower frequencies, so i.e a modest 100w marantz amp isnt going to cut it. I pump mine with the Crown XLS2502 that is capable of handling a 2 ohm load with over 1000 watts and the bass it produces is just super tight and precise. For comparison, I tried driving them with the SMSL DA-9 which is also capable of handling a 2 ohm at 150w but bass sounds messy, undefined and flappy. The 826s require a lot of power to perform optimally. The mids and highs are just out of this world.

      @@fluxcapacitor3273 I own the 806 and recently bought the 826... was driving the 806 with a couple of subs which helped out greatly. The 826 scales up fantastically but it still needs a sub to go full range like most floorstanders do. I just cant get over how well the Choras soundstage compared to my old speakers, and the detail retrieval on these speakers are just mind bendingly exceptional.

    Chora 816 or Wharfedale Diamond 12.3?

    • @-MarkWinston-
      @-MarkWinston- 2 года назад

      I owned the 12.4 and R700 and now own the 826. Bass goes to the R700, clarity, detail retrieval, transparency, soundstage and dynamics all go to the 826. The 12.4 does everything well but does not excel in any particular area, which can be an excellent thing. One thing I loved about the 12.4 is how realistic the mids are (in comparison to the R700), they bring the singer right into your room. The 12.4 is the cheapest of the lot, but its the most balanced. But if clarity and transparency are important to you, look no further than the Focal.
