- This time it's Ron's turn to fly an old-school RC plane, a glider he put together from the bag of mis-matched wings and fuselages he bought recently. It flies okay too! But what was the bit that fell off?

The wing might be a Gentle Lady but the fuselage is different. I have one here on the shelf.

What fell of was the red patch on the left side of the nose. It's missing as he makes his second start.
I love old school! I think every effort should be taken when possible to remaiden those old birds. Mabe redress them if need be but Its such a shame seeing old planes just hanging in garages and out buildings until they fall apart from disuse. Sometimes its hard to get these old duffers to let loose a classic plane,too many good memories I guess. If more people were like Ron,we would be enjoying more video's of these classic crustys. I say leave them as is if possible too. Those paint spots give it character. I under stand you are just having a bit of fun with ole Ron,some people need to lighten up. If it bothered him,he would say something. Give it a break people,kidding is part of the flying fun.

Go Ron! Bruce, those dots in Ron's paintwork are obviously the southern hemisphere star constellations. Not a sky I'm familiar with here in Scotland but Ron might be flying at night and using the dots as a map. Crafty!

lovely vintage type glider, hours of work to build, so glad it didn't crash. Ron didn't build it though, said he bought a job lot, bargain.

Old timers are quite popular to fly at my aero club. We also hold an annual olt timer event.

Now I need to buy myself a SIG Riser 100 - for that is what this luscious sailplane is ! years ago I had a Riser 80, and it was a sweet flyer.

It looks like a Sig Riser 100 fuse with some kind of wing mated to it.
Despite the prop, Ron did a good job landing this heavy thing at their feet.

Is it just me or does he seem condescending to Ron? It might just be how they are in New Zealand, but it just seems he's overly sarcastic and takes Ron as an idiot.

Not Sure Yeah i understand that people joke around, but it just seems that Bruce finds a way to make fun of everything that Ron does, or he questions Ron about what hes doing as if Ron is dumb. For example, in this video he acts as though Ron doesn't know what gravity is at 7:30.
he is just taking the piss. And ron gives it right back. You have to have ear for sarcasm. Ron is a pilot I believe, or was in a previous xjet video, so he knows how to fly just fine.
I assume that at their point in life, a spectacular failure is more entertaining that a mild success, why else hobble together crazy plane ideas.

looks similar to a Gentle Lady by Carl Goldberg, not sure where you'd get the plans but kits are pretty easy to find since i think they still make them.

beautiful flight! would you provide the spec of it, such as weight, wing span, power etc..
It's a Sig Riser 2m Fuselage with a Carl Goldberg Gentle Lady 2m wing on it.
Looks like a 400 or 450 sized motor, 8-9" prop. Weight should be in the 35-40oz range, as the Riser is 30ish ounces in regular glider form.
A Sig Riser fuselage and a 2 meter wing? :)

Don't know about the wings, but the Fuselage is a "Sig Riser 100". I know, I have one. The wings is not for the Riser though. The Riser 100 is a 100 inch bird.
