I'm contemplating adding Octoprint to my Qidi X-Plus. I have the Raspberry Pi on order and a USB lead to connect to the control board under the printer.
Great, you won't regret it. It just adds so much more functionality to your printer making it more enjoyable to use, easier to manage, and most of all, enabling you to do things you couldn't without it!
Good idea , after your are happy with any plugins, is to save, backup those to your hard drive. This backup can be loaded without having to install all the plugins you want
That's really odd, it's definitely still a completely free service (with bonus features available for a fee). It may be that you're trying to use one of the features which has limited use on a free account. You can check which features are behind a paywall here: octoeverywhere.com/supporter Generally managing and monitoring a printer with the free account gives you all that you need, but if you want to run multiple printers with it, or have additional controll or features, you're likely to want a supporter package.
@@3DRevolution All I'm trying to do is open the OctoPod app in iOS which has been working fine until some days ago. Now it says I'm not a supporter. Looking at their plan it seems like you have to be a supporter.
@@b0rj3550n Ah yeah I think full app integration does require a supporter account. You can however just save a link to the homepage as an icon on your phone and that'll still give you all your available OctoEverywhere functionality on your phone.
Hey Toohr, thanks glad you liked it. Ah exciting and welcome to the wonderful world of 3D printing, what did you go for? I've got a lot of tutorials for other aspects of 3D Printing but let me know if there's anything in particular you'd like me to cover.
@@3DRevolution I went for a CraftBot Plus Pro (black Friday deal) . Not the most popular printer in the community, but looks quite capable nevertheless. Octoprint is first on the list to get up and running. Already have and old pi 3b and a webcam. I'll let you know if I have some good ideas for a video. Next for me will just be to master PLA printing, then move on to more durable and "exotic" materials.
@@pitor87 ah great, I've not used the Craftbot Plus Pro but I'm sure you'll have a great time with it. Don't worry too much about moving beyond PLA unless you have a super explicit need for a special property of something else. 99% of what I print is in PLA. You can also get ePLA (engineer grade PLA), matte PLA (a textured matte finish rather than a shiny smooth plastic look) and a ton of colour options. As for durability, I've got things I printed in PLA 5 years ago that have sat in my car in the sun that whole time and are still perfect. That's great you've already got a Raspberry Pi as they are in super short supply right now and so 3+ times more expensive than normal. As I mentioned I've got lots of Octoprint videos out already and many more to come so let me know if there's anything you'd like me to cover.
Great suggestion! I'd also like to give a big shout out for the MultipleUpload Plugin which allows you to select and upload multiple files at a time! Makes things so much faster!
That's odd it's not working for you. If you've gone into the plugin settings menu to make sure the features are all turned on after installing and restarting, then the only thing that could stop that from working would be that the slicer you're using isn't exporting thumbnails with them. I've only had one file that's not had a thumbnail which was from a 3mf I downloaded from Printables, but anything I've run from scratch in PrusaSlicer and Cura has had them no problem.
??? What gives? Nice presentation but to see it I need full screen as everything is too small, if I go full screen, it turns blue, I can see the image but still can't make out what your doing due to blue tint. why are you doing this?
Hey Chip. Are you talking about my video or one of the plugins? If it's one of the plugins, which one are you trying to get to work? If it's the video, it sounds like an issue with your playback device or software as there's no problems with my video.
I recommend using the UI customizer to clean up the new layout

Very good suggestion, yes this definitely. Any time you make significant changes to your OctoPrint setup, do a backup!
Some great plugins I wasn't aware of!
Hope some came in handy!
Slicer thumbnail is not working for me, I dont get the images nor the button for the thumbnail , I restarted like 3 times
Hmm, which slicer are you using to create your gCode?
This was an extremely informative video. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
awesome hints 🤟
Thanks, hope they help. Happy printing!
I just subscribed great video!
Octo Everywhere wont work for me anymore, it says i have to be a ”supporter”….

Thanks for the overview. Still waiting to receive my 3d printer, and now just hoarding RUclips for relevant videos
