I've owned 16 different pickelball paddles and I have to say the Pickleball Apes Pulse V Paddles is the best paddle I have ever used, hands down. This thing does absolutley everything well. This paddle is ridiculously good.
I built boats and worked around a lot of fiberglass (unfortunately). There definitely is a difference in quality of glass and resin. The expensive products are stronger and more uniform. Glass can be cured in different ways with polyester, vinyl ester, or epoxy resin. There are also many different types of weaves and thickness of fiberglass. I think Paddletec did their homework on different weaves/thickness along with a perfect curing process and amount of resin. I do not think it will be as easy to duplicate as you think. If corners are cut the paddle will be cheaper, but performance will suffer.
Great post as usual guys! Just curious, Aizec is the Shogun still your main with all the new great EP weave paddles, including the J2Ti etc? I like the J2Ti and Neonic Flare, but just keep coming back to the Shogun! 🥊
Watched their video a few days ago about the company tier list for pickleball and had a hard time finishing it as the audio was nassal... Hilariously I was comparing your audio setup while watching them a week ago and now here we are you guys are actually in the setup. LOL.
I've seen a few reviews of the Pickleball Apes Pulse that there's a break-in but not from core crushing. Piqued my interest so I ordered the V and S. The V sold out on the first day. I'm hoping mine has a break-in, John Kew considers his to be in the Goldilocks stage now.
I hope so too as I don't think control-oriented all-court paddles are the way to go for 4.0+ players. As James Ignatowich said, it's really difficult to have to take more of a swing with your technique as your opponents are hitting harder and with more precision at more advanced levels of PB. Your strokes and recovery have to be quick and power paddles help with that.
The new Hollbrook edgeless paddles look cool, but I think Thompson will be the big winner in the edgeless space. They already have an objectively large sweet spot for an elongated paddle. Once they fix their handles and come out with a hybrid or standard shape, it’s going to be unreal
I think I understand why @JohnKew refers to the Pulse as a 'power' paddle. I got mine yesterday (Pulse S) and compared it to my current Pro Line Energy S: With a lower swing and static weight, I can generate more torque out of my swing on the Pulse than I would with the PLE. The same stroke feels like I added more MPH on my serves and volleys. It also allows me to react faster on exchanges closer to the net. I will still recommend PLE if I am more of a defensive player. It allows for (more) controlled plays like; dinking, third shot drops (or other drops) and the like. Moreover, I can focus on providing directional shots because the paddle is so forgiving. Otherwise, I use the Pulse because I want to be more aggressive; faster, more power, less focus on placement. This paddle has some 'punch'. Both paddles are fantastic, btw and thanks for your review.
I've gone through 2 olympus paddles thus far. I have had issues on the top with dead zones after a few weeks. I could bend the first one in the top center. I also can hit pretty hard.
The problem with unapproved paddles might be not so much when people play tournaments, but when people play just random dupr round robins or other non-tournament play where paddles aren’t checked much. If it’s just reporting scores, it could mix up dupr ratings at lower levels and impact tournament adding more sandbaggers to 4.0 or 4.5.
tbh, I feel like the end game, would go quite close to what's happening in the Table Tennis world now. Brands make a paddle frame, with the options to swap the surface on both sides for full customisation of spin or pop etc.
It’s going to turn into what Paintball does, where you have to shoot your gun over a radar to make sure it isn’t shooting too fast. At tournaments start testing paddles to make sure they aren’t too hot.
Curious if people have seen that same break in outside of the pulse V. I put the most time into my S and haven’t felt a huge change but didn’t have a brand new one to hit side by side either
Has anyone complained about the Olympus handle yet? It is some styrofoam material that seems like it won't bounce back into shape if you put a dent in it. What is bad is that they drive a staple through the middle of it (on both sides) and the hole is pronounced when you hold the paddle. Even through an over grip you can feel the dimples
28:39 A tongue twister about putting weights inside an edgeless paddle: I think that has made the edgeless paddle better, but then is this edgeless paddle better than the best edged paddle?
lol my opinion is a bit more cynical - i see paddles going the way of cars, phones, etc....built pretty well, but not too well to the point where people no longer have to keep buying more and more. The fact that a lot of these paddles break (even with warranties) is better in the long term for companies and I just don't know why they would go away from that. I definitely wouldn't want to if I were business owner and part of the model was paddles breaking/wearing out relatively quickly so that people can buy another...and another.....and another...lol great pod, these reviewer/influencer crossovers are very good!
Chris is now a 5.0 card corrupter. Good to see your foursome at the table. Looking forward to what's coming in paddle technology. I just ordered a aluminum core and face sheet topped with the crbn top sheet. I think the "propulsion core" paddles will start to degrade over very little time. Where the foam adheres to the PP looks sketchy on X-ray. MASTER ATHLETICS makes a paddle with unique weighting system. (rail system) Just not approved.
Without knowing anything about the game results,,, it sounds like one set went to pickleball studio and the other set went to pickleball effect. WHICH MEANS!!!! There needs to be a final tie breaker!
I prefer market goes back to 4.75 or 5 inch handles. CRBN is one of the only ones that offer this right now. I feel longer handles are wasted paddle space and sluggish at the kitchen line. Great for baseline power but that is not super helpful at higher levels

Loved every second of this. Good people talking about good stuff. 🙏 appreciate you guys and all you do for this community!

Chris and Aizec It was great to meet you guys this last week at TFP!

Eh, sound wasn't so bad. Good show gentlemen.

The future of paddles: build them like PCs, component by component. Thompson's frame, Paddletek' s core, Reload's grit. Any advice for the handle? 😅
Awesome pod. It's better to fill a gap in the lineup than to imitate it.
Paddle companies are hardly incentivized to make paddles more durable. They sell way more when they wear more.

Brayden: “I hate these jokes”. My wife: “what’s so funny to make you laugh that loud “ 😂😂😂

The most popular customization that is done, using over grip to fit different size hands! Then weighting.
Just got my Pulse V today and played with it for 2 hours. It does seem to be an all court paddle leaning control.

Funny pod, great job boys
Amy info on Thrive Blackout?

What Sony cameras do you guys use!? The one you all have that you like?
FX30/FX3
I’m the loser with a A7IV 😂
@@DinkSmashMedia Imagine not having an fx3 👶
What is the link to your Discord?

@PickleballStudio out of curiosity, what are your guy's favorite Melin hat shape/shapes?
Everything is preference. Odyssey is a classic. Coronado Hydrolite is my favorite to play in.
Chris + auto-tune =C-pain
I am very new to the Pickleball scene but it sounds like quality control standards aren’t high enough.
MasterAthletics has a paddle with adjustable weight slots already

Drink every time they say “Insane!”
I like a well fitted shirt but man - too small bro - too small!
Yes!! Haha Aizec in the smedium 😂

Braydon, your shirt is making me mad. We should play tennis soon. 😉
It does help that my epitaph will mention tennis and be silent about the wiffle.

Lmao u basically said Brayden's audio setup sucks 😂😂😂 and it did 😅
Where is the multicolor Melin. Bring it back Aizec!
Had to send my Olympus back after 2 weeks for core crush
Crowd sourcing a $50 Hush … what could go wrong?
Who pissed on Kyle’s corn flakes, he looks like he’s at a dentist appointment 😂
I was actually just exhausted 😂 Aizec told my son to keep me up late and behold he got sick and woke up at 3am. Long day.
All good man, just wondering why you weren’t your chipper self . 😉

Aizec's shirt fits well. I think Brayden's shirt is too loose. I'm not a fashionista though. I hate shirts with long arms
With the fee being charged to get approved, small guys will just release "non-approved" to the Rec players. Suits me just fine. "F" Big Pickle!!!
They're just trying not to get sued by onix
The whole ONIX thing is BS!!!
So is the apes pulse breakin more it getting softer or also “hotter” more powerful?
Shogun handle is doodoo
WILL! Where are you?

Guys what a great pod, audio was totally fine. People are too picky sometimes. Loved the discussion.
Audio wasn’t totally fine. It was doable until they fix it, but let’s not say totally fine. We do want them to fix it in between episodes
is the audio randomly robotic for anyone else?
Blame it on PE equipment ha
Did you miss the intro 🤔
It’s because they are all fake reviewers. They’re using AI
The audio on this one lost me. Sorry fellas. Was tough to listen any time Chris spoke.
That’s just his nasally voice.
First!!!!!
