Probably one of the best written songs where the melody rises and falls perfectly inline with the storyline, mood and lyrics of the song. Perfect balance between bitter sweet, attempted cheerfulness and melancholy sadness.

Even though I don't agree with the trade they were in, having to pick up and start over again is never easy, no matter what kind of a life you lived. A rather pleasant sounding song, even if it is sad.
The Chicken Ranch is alive and well. And I'm glad of that fact. The knowledge of that has gotten me thru more hard candy times than it, perhaps, should.
HappyandAtheist it’s not always that simple. As a former Deputy Probation Officer I have seen women trafficked, selling their bodies to support drug habits and end up diseased and ill, pimps taking advantage of these women in cruel ways. In a legal setting such as a business is obviously much better but many see no other way and resort to this. It would appear they are willing but they are desperate, it steals their souls.....high rates of substance abuse, depression and suicide go hand in hand with this profession. Until you work with these people it’s hard to understand what goes on behind the scenes, truly sad in many cases.
This is like the best movie in the world. You never see it on TV in the song that Whitney Houston me to hit Dolly Parton wrote if she sings the end of the movie it makes me cry all the time.
Oh Dolly without your music I could never emote what I truly feel. You have such a gift. I saw you in 2016 and it might have been the best day of my life. My son saw you through the womb. I played all your music when pregnant, now he loves you too😍

I watched this on HBO as a 12 year old staying up late so everyone was asleep to watch a movie with such a title. I remember how sad this scene was. Underrated film, and the cast was perfect!! That was around 1983-84. Great times!
This is one of so very many Dolly Parton songs. Wonderful song and Dolly's voice is amazing!!! I love this film with Burt too
This was such a sad part in the movie. Miss Mona stayed strong for her girls.
Even though I don't agree with the trade they were in, having to pick up and start over again is never easy, no matter what kind of a life you lived. A rather pleasant sounding song, even if it is sad.
hey, we all got a living to make. And at least it was in a house with some protection than on a street corner somewhere.
Very true. Much better in a place like this.

Hello Katherine
This is like the best movie in the world. You never see it on TV in the song that Whitney Houston me to hit Dolly Parton wrote if she sings the end of the movie it makes me cry all the time.
I don't know why this sweet song always brings tears to my eyes!
Oh Dolly without your music I could never emote what I truly feel. You have such a gift. I saw you in 2016 and it might have been the best day of my life. My son saw you through the womb. I played all your music when pregnant, now he loves you too😍
Hello Aray
This is way more than just another Christmas Song. It is a masterpiece
Ugh! Such a great vocalist. The vibrato! The control.
I really love dolly a.This really brings me sad memories for my mother she has been gone since 2005 and believes me when I say I miss her every day. But at Christmas is the hardest for me ...
Whenever I see or hear Dolly Parton it's like a cleansing rain going through my soul.
Dolly is like an Angel. How can you not love her?
I watched this on HBO as a 12 year old staying up late so everyone was asleep to watch a movie with such a title. I remember how sad this scene was. Underrated film, and the cast was perfect!! That was around 1983-84. Great times!
Greatest experience was watching Dolly perform at Cheyenne Frontier Days where I worked as a volunteer for the night shows for 15 years.
The entire soundtrack for this movie is great.
This is one of so very many Dolly Parton songs. I also loved this movie and the beautiful harmonic voices blending together to make this song be a complete and absolutely phenomenol song to sing along with. I repeat it a few times and sing with it because it is such a beautiful song. Thank you Dolly Parton for this music.
Some people can’t sing alone but can sing 🎤 with others when their harmonizing
About 10yrs ago we had layoffs at my job and I was spared... i hummed the chorus of the song the entire remainder of the day😢
Me: “Maybe... COVID will end one day.”

Just took a trip to Texas and had to ride by the house where these exteriors were filmed. Very cool
I remember watching this as a kid in the 80's on Movie Channel...oh how I miss those days 😕
Yep. Got that right. Merry Christmas
@Major woody lol
They’ll never come back

Lyrics:
Hey, maybe I'll dye my hair
Maybe I'll move somewhere
Maybe I'll get a car
Maybe I'll drive so far they'll all lose track
Me, I'll bounce right back
Maybe I'll sleep real late
Maybe I'll lose some weight
Maybe I'll clear my junk
Maybe I'll just get drunk on apple wine
Me, I'll be just
Fine and dandy
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down.
I'll be fine and dandy
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down.
Hey, maybe I'll learn to sew
Hey, maybe I'll just lie low
Maybe I'll hit the bars
Maybe I'll count the stars until dawn
Me, I will go on
Maybe I'll settle down
Maybe I'll just leave town
Maybe I'll have some fun
Maybe I'll meet someone and make him mine
Me, I'll be just
Fine and dandy
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down.
- I'll be fine and dandy -
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down.
~ I'll be fine and dandy ~
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down.
*last goodbyes*
I'll be fine
~ I'll be fine
~ ~ I'll be fine.
Dolly's version of this song is really good, but this... this hits different.
Still the best Christmas song imo.
This song gives me the chills and nostalgia big time!!!
My favorite Christmas song, I love this song so much
This scene makes me cry every time
I absolutely love the suspensions in the chorus of this song.
One of the greatest songs ever written.
This should be
2020 christmas theme song 🎄
Or should have been!
Fear not, the vaccine is being dispensed..... Next Christmas will be better!
Jennifer❤
This version should have been on the soundtrack and released as a single
I ordered the soundtrack from Amazon with this song version on it
@@augustinesanchez3361 The soundtrack version is just Dolly singing. The movie version has never been issued on an album, as far as I know.
Love Dolly. This is my favourite Christmas song (and it isn't even about Christmas)
A great song from a great movie. Makes me smile and also brings tears.
This is when Dolly Parton looked the most beautiful.
I just love that movie and that song she and them all of girls was singing hard Christmas candy I cry every time I hear that song it's just a beautiful song love Dolly parton
This song is so sad, what is going to happen to all those girls I watched the movie the other night and I cry every time I see this part
This is honestly my favorite Christmas song but I heard it before I knew it came form this musical.
I loved growing up watching these classics. Burt Reynolds was so hot! Dolly still is beautiful .
Dolly is amazing!!!! Brilliant talent!!!
this scene always made me cry
I know everyone was probably hoping that something miraculous would happen and the Chicken Ranch would get to stay open. However, if it did, it would undercut the lesson of this song and of life: Nothing lasts forever. Changes happen, many that are out of your control, but you must face them with a positive attitude and with a hope that something better will come along. This is a beautiful song that really embodies hope and resilience
I'm here in a puddle of tears💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭 I hates seeing everyone leave....good luck ladies and stay beautiful always
Oh how I love this song and the movie. Thanks for posting it. I love it anytime.
My favorite country singer 👩🎤
