I just found this movie on DVD. on Sunday at Wal-Mart for $5. So of course I had to buy it!☺ since I no longer have A VCR and I just watched it yesterday.☺
Probably one of the best written songs where the melody rises and falls perfectly inline with the storyline, mood and lyrics of the song. Perfect balance between bitter sweet, attempted cheerfulness and melancholy sadness.
There.'s something about this song that makes me feel so emotional . I think memories of watching the film with my family come flooding back. Dolly Parton writes and sings from the heart and she is simply brilliant.
At 22, I spent 9 months deployed in the Persian Gulf, my long time boyfriend decided to stop talking to me shortly before Christmas and broke my heart for the first time. At 24, I had just left my abusive boyfriend right before Christmas, after he started threatening to hit me and cheated on me with his ex. I spent the holidays by myself that year too. The lyrics perfectly capture what was going through my mind those years, if I'd ever have someone who loved me to spend the holidays with again (my family is all deceased/estranged). Now at 28 I have a supportive husband who loves me and I finally feel like we have our own little family, but I will always remember those hard candy Christmases and appreciate what I have now. It's crazy how people we've never met seem to know our story. I love Dolly so much!
I never saw this movie, but I love this song. I think I'll watch it. Did you notice, that even surrounded by beautiful and talented women, there's just something about Dolly that sets her apart. Not sure what it is, maybe just her homespun wholesomeness. It's a hard candy christmas here, but maybe the memories will help. I wish you all peaceful wishes for comfort, love and joy at this time and all year long.
I worked on this house in pflugerville a few years back. it was remodeled by some good craftsmen. releveled ,new wiring, plumbing floors refinished interior finishing and exterior paint. and a new septic.

Oh Dolly without your music I could never emote what I truly feel. You have such a gift. I saw you in 2016 and it might have been the best day of my life. My son saw you through the womb. I played all your music when pregnant, now he loves you too😍
I watched this on HBO as a 12 year old staying up late so everyone was asleep to watch a movie with such a title. I remember how sad this scene was. Underrated film, and the cast was perfect!! That was around 1983-84. Great times!
This is one of so very many Dolly Parton songs. I also loved this movie and the beautiful harmonic voices blending together to make this song be a complete and absolutely phenomenol song to sing along with. I repeat it a few times and sing with it because it is such a beautiful song. Thank you Dolly Parton for this music.

It's crazy how people we've never met seem to know our story.
I love Dolly so much!
Bless you, you are a very strong person ❤️
@@simon2460 thank you, bless you too!
Wonderful song and Dolly's voice is amazing!!! I love this film with Burt too
I worked on this house in pflugerville a few years back. it was remodeled by some good craftsmen. releveled ,new wiring, plumbing floors refinished interior finishing and exterior paint. and a new septic.
Ugh! Such a great vocalist. The vibrato! The control.
Just took a trip to Texas and had to ride by the house where these exteriors were filmed. Very cool
Dolly is truly the queen of country music!! Ive loved her every since I was a little kid. I wanted to be her someday, but unfortunately I never made it
This has always been one of my favorite Dolly songs. Along with Jolene. ❤❤ Love Dolly
Still the best Christmas song imo.
I don't know why this sweet song always brings tears to my eyes!
Dolly is like an Angel. How can you not love her?
Some Christmases are like some soft candy and are the best..but some are like hard candy 🍬 Christmases, but you have to keeping pushing forward till it gets better...because it will, it doesn't rain forever 😢😊❤🎄🎁🎭
This scene gets me in the feels every time.
Instantly fell in
Hello Katherine
They should do an all star remake of this song including Dolly singing her parts
I agree and Dolly has to be involved in it somehow.
She said she wouldn't do this movie in any form after bert died, said it wouldn't feel the same.
Oh Dolly without your music I could never emote what I truly feel. You have such a gift. I saw you in 2016 and it might have been the best day of my life. My son saw you through the womb. I played all your music when pregnant, now he loves you too😍
Hello Aray
Whenever I see or hear Dolly Parton it's like a cleansing rain going through my soul.
One of the greatest songs ever written.
The entire soundtrack for this movie is great.
My favorite country singer 👩🎤
About 10yrs ago we had layoffs at my job and I was spared... i hummed the chorus of the song the entire remainder of the day😢
Greatest experience was watching Dolly perform at Cheyenne Frontier Days where I worked as a volunteer for the night shows for 15 years.
I'm here in a puddle of tears💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭💔😭 I hates seeing everyone leave....good luck ladies and stay beautiful always
This is such a beautiful and heartbreaking song.❤❤❤❤
I remember watching this as a kid in the 80's on Movie Channel...oh how I miss those days 😕
Yep. Got that right. Merry Christmas

Some people can’t sing alone but can sing 🎤 with others when their harmonizing
Oh how I love this song and the movie. Thanks for posting it. I love it anytime.
This scene makes me cry every time
This was such a sad part in the movie. Miss Mona stayed strong for her girls.
The one in the straw hat and tan jacket was my absolute favorite ((besides dolly))...she gave me Lynda Carter vibes!!!
Lyrics:
Hey, maybe I'll dye my hair
Maybe I'll move somewhere
Maybe I'll get a car
Maybe I'll drive so far they'll all lose track
Me, I'll bounce right back
Maybe I'll sleep real late
Maybe I'll lose some weight
Maybe I'll clear my junk
Maybe I'll just get drunk on apple wine
Me, I'll be just
Fine and dandy
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down.
I'll be fine and dandy
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down.
Hey, maybe I'll learn to sew
Hey, maybe I'll just lie low
Maybe I'll hit the bars
Maybe I'll count the stars until dawn
Me, I will go on
Maybe I'll settle down
Maybe I'll just leave town
Maybe I'll have some fun
Maybe I'll meet someone and make him mine
Me, I'll be just
Fine and dandy
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down.
- I'll be fine and dandy -
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down.
~ I'll be fine and dandy ~
Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas
I'm barely getting through tomorrow
But still I won't let
Sorrow bring me way down.
*last goodbyes*
I'll be fine
~ I'll be fine
~ ~ I'll be fine.
This song is so sad, what is going to happen to all those girls I watched the movie the other night and I cry every time I see this part
