For me i consider this film they best 50/60's style musical that hasn't been toped yet even in the heights failed with there musical. Grease is one of those classic you can just enjoy even today

Lol, the end of this tune takes me of guard cuz back in the day we used to press the rewind button at the end of the tune so often ,it stretched the tape on the cassette so at the end when it's got to the last "hopelessly devoted to you" it'd go "hopelessly devoted to you-hu-hoo" 😆 I still sing it like that
We were extremely blessed to have this gorgeous angel, with that incredible voice, here with us in our world for as long as we did. There will never be another Olivia Newton John. She will be in our hearts (and music catalogs) forever!

Whenever I watch Grease, this song always stands out from the musical for me. It almost feels like it was inserted from a different movie. The style is different from the other songs, and the quality of the performance of Olivia Newton-John levitates ways above the rest.
In fact, it was. It was the only song written for the movie. The others songs were written before for the musical.

I saw someone recently cover this song. They sang beautifully and had a wonderful voice, but nothing really compares to the magic of Olivia Newton John. So many of her songs, including this one, just knock it astronomically out of the park. It's still so sad to think she is gone.

This is Grease's 'special' song in my view. It represents those times when falling in love meant mostly imagining that special person. A time without social media or any instantaneous means of gratifying your feelings. All you could do was daydream about that special person and build the courage to act on those feelings whenever you saw them, which made everything that much more special and unique.

This song has always been one of my favorites by ONJ and I remember playing a lot of her songs when I worked in radio. And being a videographer too, I love this scene from Grease. Watch from the shot of her coming out onto the porch to just before she sits down by the kiddie pool. It's one long tracking shot with no edits. Love it!
