A 100
Rizzo is the best character in Grease, period. She also had the best story arch and didn't change who she was for a man to like her. SLAY QUEEN RIZZO.
Loved Rizzo but they all had good characters which we could relate to back then. Rizzo actually did changed. She was a sloppy second recording to Danny Zucko, means she was a loose girl but she let her toughness go and opened up. Something many women should do and not keep hanging in bitterness because of past bad relationships with men they themselves choose🙄 After opening up she saw that Kenickie meant well with her and after that she SLAYED. Something she could never do if she kept hiding after the high brick wall🙂
Stockard Channing really owned this role.
i cant believe these people in thire late 20s & 30s played highschoool kids. they even to old for college kids
@@SFBenjaminK You can't have teens working the hours necessary to make films.
@@SFBenjaminK They picked big names for the cast. I was a teen and none of them seemed remotely like teens to me. But Olivia Newton John was very popular with teens and so was John Travolta. My mother laughed that Stockard Channing was almost her age. But it appealed to my parents and their friends as they were teens in the 50's. So I guess it worked.
"I don't steal and I dont lie but i can feel." That always makes me tear tear up.
"But to cry in front of you. That's the worst thing I could do" always has me.
“A fact i bet you never knew” :(
My wife says cheating with bottle
Great song
and i can cry!
I love how at the end of the song, instead of going out to watch the race with the rest of her friends, she chooses to focus on herself and walks through the school hallways. Great scene.
For the character she plays, she exhibits one thing in this song: maturity. It is something reslistic, as when we are young and face a crisis, it makes us grow up and attain maturity. For me she is one of the best characters of the film. And her acting is excellent.
its a teenage film! Not some art analysis
Best song in Grease. I've been listening to this song for 40 years and I love it always reminds me not to "throw my life away for a dream that won't come true". Especially with bad relationships just waiting and hoping for them to change. They won't. Don't throw your years away. It's hard to admit you're not compatible, and even harder to move on. But we only get one life!
100% ❤ from Australia 😊
Well said
Also my favorite Grease tune…. You said it..
Reading this heartbroken and what a blessing to have come across this comment. Thank you for writing this 4 months ago. 🙆🏿♀️💕
@@kimouiyabrown9780 aww I'm sorry you're going through heartbreak, hang in there! I'm glad my comment helped if even a bit. I meant every word. Big stranger hug❤
One of the most underrated songs in Grease
My favourite.
@@tommoncrieff1154 my favourite too
Totally. I love it
Agreed 👍
My favourite, such a beautiful voice!!
She had made so much emotion on one of the shortest songs in the "but to cry in front of you, thats the worse thing I could do" is how I feel towards my Dad
comkng back to this at 18 and i NEVER realized what a strong voice she has!
@@DannyShine that too! 😅
Always loved this song, sang it out loud back in the days💃
My favorite song from Grease. She murdered this role, amazing.
Stockard Channing was the "Star" of this movie.
❤
True❤
100% ❤
She was my favorite.
she was definitely the glue that pulled it together
I served Stockard a puff pastry canapé thingy once at an event at the Met. I told her how much I loved this and she said “thanks! Just for that I’ll take two!”
Yassssss
lol hell yeah
Stockard Channing did the best rendition of this song both visually and sonically. She placed emphasis on the lines “ then refuse to see it through, that’s a thing I’ll never do” that most singers just glossed over, which is unfortunate as it reveals the core of Rizzo’s character.
You are right. She doesn't play with other people's feelings. Even though she sees it as a bad thing I believe that makes her a great person.
I love Rizzo, so funny and such an interesting character. She was doing what all the guys were doing. She was doing what she wanted, she was doing it for herself.
Rizzo just calling out the hypocrisy in her society.
This is amazing. Channing is brilliant here. Not just the singing but the emotion she conveys. You can see the genuine emotional anguish of the character. Every aspiring actor should watch this to see how it's done.
At the time Grease came out in the theaters in 1978, I was 9 years old and being raised in an abusive, dysfunctional household. As a result, I turned towards watching LOTS of TV and went to the movies as a way of providing myself with escape and comfort from my misery.
Back then I was going to the movies with my then best friend. We were a couple of fanatics about the movies. We talked, read, ate, drank, and slept the movies. And we went to the movies together once a week, every week for a lot of years from the 1970s-1980s. We saw literally hundreds upon hundreds of movies over the years.
We tried to see every new movie that came out regardless of plot, genre (he loved horror films, I preferred comedy), critics reviews, who was starring in it, etc. So there was no particular reason we went to see Grease. It just happened to be a new movie that was just released.
As much as I loved the moviegoing experience in itself, as an abused, neglected child, there were a small handful of movies that stood out and managed to hit me in the very right places at the very right time. Grease was one of those movies. Right from my very first viewing, it quickly became one of my all time favorite movies and remains that to this day. In the following years, I purchased the soundtrack album, the fotonovel, and whenever Grease popped up on tv, I'd drop everything to watch it. Today I own the movie on DVD.
So, I say to the creators and the cast and crew of Grease, from the bottom of the heart of an abused boy, thank you all so very, very much.
I hope that you recovered from your abuse and live a wonderful life now. It is never a childs fault.
What a post. I Also ws was 9 in 1978. Not in an abusive household but do craved the escape of going Joy’s Cinema 6 at least once a week. But will never forget the impact of Grease on me. To this day , I stop and watch, when it is on. And Stockard’s perfect performance has never left me. And this is THE song. I hope she knows how many young guys she gave permission to feel. I’m one
This is my favorite scene and song on Grease.
Mine too, very real.
Mine aswell for sure
My mother showed me this musical. She watched it when she was a teenager. I just loved it so much! Songs like these are still so relatable. A masterpiece.
Growing up in a small town, this song always got to me a little cause, like Rizzo, I didn't have the best reputation and maybe in some ways I had earned it but I wasn't really as bad as everyone thought I was. However, in a small, closed-minded town, it's sometimes better to let people believe what they want. The lyrics, "I don't steal, and I don't lie, but I can feel, and I can cry. A fact I'll bet you never knew but to cry in front of you, that's the worst thing I could do." Always stuck with me. Beautiful song.
One of the best performances of the last 50 years 😍😍😍😍
I played tenor sax in the pit during my senior year of high school. This was my favorite piece from the show.
0:00-0:03 R.I.P. Susan Buckner aka Patty Simcox, the class gossip
I swear I love this song till the day I die! Makes me miss my sister so so so so much! Always comes around when I’m feeling down and sad and makes me love myself in many ways!
Oh god ! My favorite song in the movie ❤ what a voice what a feeling . ❤❤❤ I'll always love livy but the despair this wonderful actress and singer put in this song with the the power of her voice always broke my heart. GREAT LADY
My all time favorite movie Grease ,Stockard Channing was a great actress ,and singer ,love this song
Definitely the best character in that movie & loved how she sang “Sandra Dee” The Pink Ladies were the best ❤️
Rizzo was cute back then i had a huge crush on stockard after seeing this i was 7 it was 1984 around Christmas time when i first saw this on the tele 👍🏻😅
Thats so funny, most guys had a big crush on Sandy😂
@@kallahari7542 Guys, especially younger ones, are more likely to be attracted to blondes without any regard for much. Thankfully that has changed to some extent in some places but still remains largely true.
Me too same age 7 in 1978 and I had a crush with this gorgeous Lady Stockard Shanning ❤
This scene itself when I was younger instantly changed my thoughts of Rizzo, she and Frenchy instantly my favorites.
Hail Queen Rizzo!! heheheee love this song and she did it with so much emotion, you really empathize with her. But I also have to say I think that part at the race where whatserbutt gives Ugly the good luck charm is the best insult I ever heard in a movie. "What did she give him?" "A lock of HAIR! From her CHEST!!" Savage!!
This scene reminds me so much of Meg from Hercules when she sings I Wont Say Im In Love
Underrated character and voice.
Merci pour ce partage et cette vidéo
Joli extrait de Grease
On perçoit vraiment ici la force de sa voix
Merci pour les sous-titres
J'aime beaucoup

She made this movie! I remember when Grease became popular again, (I'm konda old, but it was already an "old" movie by then!,) back when I was a kid! The only reason that I watched it more than once, was for Rizzo! And SC aged so very beautifully! 😻
Great song my fav movie and songs of course❤
Brilliant composition sung perfectly
I sooo love stockards portrayal of rizzo in this movie shes so like vulnerable when shes singing that song thats my all time fave scene in grease
I've had this song stuck in my head for the past 2 days. I guess that's my sign to watch grease again😂
My god this relates to a lot of feelings right now xxx that is the worst thing.. xxx 😢😢
Looove her also as the aunt in Practical Magic! I wanna be like her and make midnight margaritas when I get older 😂
She was also really good in Six Degrees of Separation and To Wong Fu movie with Patrick Swayze.
My favourite song from the movie. Stockard Channing sang this beautifully.
She has a awesome singing voice 😊
I can respect Rizzo recognizing her flaws. For me it’s the opposite. I’m mocked for not being trashy, and that’s made me rather harsh towards modern hookup culture. But shaming people still isn’t ok so that’s a flaw in me I’m beginning to recognize.
Always for me the STAND OUT song, of what is a great soundtrack anyway.
“But to cry in front of you? That’s the worst thing I could do.” All of us “strong” women that they judge and call sl*ts and wh*res can relate to this song so deeply.
Brings Back so many memories xxx ones I wish would come back 😢
To me, this is the best part and probably the best song in Grease.
ESTA ESCENA PARA MI ES UNA DE LAS MEJORES DE TODA LA HISTORIA DEL CINE, ES PERFECTA, POR LA CANCION, POR SU INTERPRETACION, POR SU ACTRIZ, POR SU PERSONAJE Y SU CANTANTE. COMO ALGO TAN SENCILLO SE PUEDE CONVERTIR EN ALGO TAN EPICO LLENO DE SENTIMIENTOS.
Stockard Channing is my most favourite actor that plays Rizzo. I wish they would make a sequel which includes all the original characters as they make Grease, Grease. Although our sweet Olivia died (Sandy) I still think that it would be a popular hit. I wish I was born in their times where phones didnt exist 😢. My life is just not the way i want it to be.
Ok
Best song in Grease.
Always broke my heart when they would cut this song for time on tv
Love this scene, great song.
She's great 👍.
My favorite song in the movie
At the end of the day, tough Riz was so sweet and really genuinely cared for Kinecki
...possibly, THE most Introspective (& Intelligent) Song, of ALL of "Grease"; Rizzo sings of all the 'Things' she DOES do, because she's a Realist (0:55)....then, mentions all things she COULD do, but knows it won't make her Happy (1:12) ....She KNOWS who she is...(1:46) ...yet, still protects herself...(1:53).... Not a bad...nor, 'Worse'' thing, to do.....
Excellent performance. Great voice.
This is so unrated ❤ this words hit deep and relatable
That totally high school aged girl has an amazing voice.
"there are worse things I could do.. be 30 yeeearrrss olld and goo too schooll.A fact you never knew." Me looking at the screen yeah you didnt fool me lol
I had such a huge crush on Stockard Channing. Beautiful!
Best actress in the movie
The best song in Grease!
I just love this song.
The best song in the musical
The part she played was true class
Excellent actor and singer.
Listening still 2024
Me too
Im going to be singing this next year during my Victory theatre project show with my group and I'm nervous about doing the actions
Shes one of my favorite actesses of all time. Love her
Rizzo was special because she was a strong woman, challenging the female stereotypes of the 60s the movie is based on. She wasn't dealt a hand as good as Sandy's in life, which is why she acted defensively at first, but she had no trouble fending for herself throughout the whole story, and even recognizing Sandy's empathy towards her in the end of the film.
So classic, i love that car its beutiful
Love her and that movie she was great in Grease ❤❤
Loved this !
Обожаю эту актрису! Шикарная женщина.
10 I never tire of watching this movie
I loved this song and the singer is very good and the film is so cool and hopefully it’s be on again on telly again
I loved playing this song and the film
❤ luv this song
Rizzo played a great role!
Grade 11, I simply love the saxophone at 0:33, 0:40: 1:28, 1:36 of the video/song, my favorite musical instrument. Today (Rizzo in Grease) Stockard Channing is 80 years old and had a very successful career.
I have 3 favorite songs from this movie that I cannot decide between for the top spot. This is absolutely one of them. Love this song so much and it was or is one or the more relatable songs in the movie for me. I feel you Rizz🖤
well come on what are your other two
Stockard Channing was 34 when she portrayed Betty Rizzo. She was the oldest of the cast members. What a knockout.
Grease mooie film 4ever Daniëlle aerts ❤❤❤❤❤
I've always liked Rizzo (and this song), but the thing I was never crazy about was how, after it turns out she wasn't pregnant, everything just kind of goes back to normal with Kenickie, like "Oh you're NOT pregnant? Then we can stay together after all!" Never really sat right with me.
I remember watching this for the first time. I thought she was so much better than the rest of the cast lol
This was my favorite song from Grease.
Wow, she can chant. I never really knew how well she sung.
Patty Simcox is the true villain here...
Rizzo was always my favorite
Best song ❤
Love her!
What a great song. Puts dempth into grease . RIZZO WAS A INTERESTING character.❤😂
Don't know if you can tell how 💅🏽 I am but this was always my favourite Grease song from when I was a little boy 😅
Shes the best ! My fave movie of hers is The girl most likely to ! If you havent seen it you NEED TO! Love her !
As a kid I use to always skip this but one day when I grew up I actually sat and listened to it and omg I practically stood and clapped the realist song in the movie about being that girl in school who was pegged as the school whore my god she spits facts in this scene
I never considered Rizzo a bully or mean. She was just tough and intimidating. You see she really cared about her crew. If you think about it, Patty Simcox was the OG Regina George .
She was very mean to Sandy though.
Amazing ❤
Siempre me encanto y me encanta ella.
Classic ❤
People sleep on this song way too much!
