Geothermal and air to water will run off of that easily with a soft start attached.
Or if it’s an 3 phase continuously variable style, it will work just fine because there’s no inrush.

  • @adc604

Nice work on the install! One thing to consider is adding another 240V outlet next to the large garage door under the panel, just so you can use less extension cords to do any work outside the shop if need be.

Daddy Cornstar from Cole the Cornstar’s channel said that he wished they would have put the raised metal paneling on the inside of their shop vertical instead of horizontal, because all the horizontal ridges catch dirt and dust. When then recently put metal inside another shop, they did it vertically.

    • @jmuller86
      @jmuller86  3 месяца назад +3

yea I think vertically would be a little better but it would require putting furring strips around the whole building. by the time I do that I could have the panels installed and be done

Does that power station stay on when it's idle? I had bought another brand to be the power system for my cabin and the stupid thing shuts off after an hour of no power draw, which means it also stops taking a charge from the solar panels, ended up returning it.

Some of these have an Eco setting that can be changed. The reason for having an option is that an inverter uses power even if it isn’t powering anything, which can drain the battery. I have my main unit AC output turned off normally so I would have to turn it on manually to power critical circuits, but I have manual cutover switches anyway. It can be complicated to figure out the way you want to set things up.

When connected to the Anker Home Power Panel, the F3800 never turns off. But as a stand-alone power station, you are given to turn it off after so long (multiple options) or never.

As I am watching your set up, the only shortfall so far I see is 20 amp for compressor. Maybe rethink that one. A 220 volt would use less energy than 110. And be a stronger unit. And go 220 for hot water heater. Same idea as compressor. Just a thought.

Very nicely done electrical video. You are very knowledgeable of the system. It is always a pleasure seeing someone doing it right! Some comments. When I did my shed, I put all the receptacles at 48” so I can put counter tops anywhere and not block them with objects sitting on the floor. I use a #2 square Robertson bit on most electrical termination screws. For future reference, long bends in pvc conduit, opposed to factory bends, causes way higher pulling friction. Conductors on conduit sidewall while pulling for many feet instead of a couple feet with a fitting. NM cable must be protected from physical damage below 8’, so conduit or wall covering. Hopefully you are not 6’3” tall. Maximum height to center of breakers is 6’7”. Please show in your next video, installing #6 bare out to and connected to two ground rods from the ground bar.
    Again, very good video!

At your young age you are probably going to outlast your shops roof and having to deal with solar panels when re roofing......or if you have any leak at the roof and you have the panel support system it could get complicated even if you do own your own lifts!! I have been wanting to get one for our home, but have to save up for an electrican to install...Is your brother or Pat an electrican as well?? Noticed in all your videos that They are always there to help you in all matters, and wondered what they bring to the table, and are they both employed by you in your business as well?? Equal partners?? I know you did not feel the NEED to extend the culvert until now, but should of been done some time ago, if not only for the fact that getting some of your equiptment in and out was a bit tough, Using the Tracks of your small excavator to pull the electrical liners was awesome,.GOOD!!. You have a nice logical setup there Jesse; very impressive!! One thing that needs to be done and I mention this for my old friend Justin Case on the off chance you haven't considered it and that is you absolutely need to document the setup and how it all works. Going to make is so much easier if you become incapacitated and are unable to repair it if something breaks.

Plug in lights make sense on several levels. They are all made in China now and many come that way, they often do not last long so replacement is much easier than hard wired. Moving them is much simpler if you find in future that you would prefer them in a different place. I would leave ample room on the circuit in case you wish to step up to brighter lights or more after working under this set up. As you get older you will find more and brighter light is helpful. The shop will really be appreciated come winter!

In the inverters I worked with, the DC was changed to a square wave which was then changed to a sinewave.
There is a lot of loss in this depending on the quality of the 'Tank Circuit', a combination of a coil and a capacitor.
This was over 40 years ago, but electronics doesn't change much on a macro system.
Microelectronics has changed so much you can't even see it anymore.

As usual, AWESOME video! Something to think about- another RUclips channel (can’t remember which one) installed the raised rib inside their workshop with the ribs going horizontal and said they wish they did vertical because all those ribs catch all the dust and dirt when they are horizontal.

25:30 only problem with those mechanical lugs is that they go past the panels plastic that protects the connections from shortcircuit. I would have taped them or something.

a ventiator fan would be ideal.. since you'd be working inside most the time and there is cutting joining and welding.

Very interesting video for solar electric stuff. If you plan to install a mini split for winter time just check if the condensation unit will work in frozen environment, most of them won’t do that in my experience, but maybe you already know.

You and the crew roll like a well oiled machine. Unlike most other channels you have the brains and qualifications to do this work yourself. Very much appreciate the videos, and explanation of things.👍

It would be interesting to see what the power sine wave looks like when you’re running some larger amps . Some of them are rubbish at welding but Anker is a brand leader .

Hello Jesse. So that is what a Master Electrician does for his workshop. Impressive! If Anker does not sponsor a few videos of yours and perhaps a perk or two, I would really be surprised. That was a fantastic explanation of what their equipment can and can't do. They could even ask you to write a manual. Have good days!

Got a 24k mini-split in a garage we converted to appt. Love it. Super quiet and efficient. Not great in sub-zero but that doesn't happen much here. Summer cooling is perfect. Had to replace the main board in the compressor unit outside because a family of roaches took up residence on the circuit board and fried it. But found a new board online and replaced it no problem.

Pause @31:27 and look to the far left. Is it possible that L1 and L2 touch each other when the connection loses up !?😮 If it mechanical possible, I would put in an isolator to prevent that and a possible fire.🤷‍♂️ You're now outside the existing separators.

Using CTs to prevent back charging the grid is super nifty. I’m gonna use these units to provide my emergency house backup. Anker made a well thought out unit

Have you ever used smooth edged bucket without teeth? I think you’re using a lot of attention to those teeth that are not needed 98% of time and those make other work harder.

On the 83% rule for dwelling units, NEC 310.12, it applies only to a feeder or service supplying the entire load of the dwelling unit, or any downstream feeder of the same size. So if your dwelling unit has a 200A service, you can use 2/0 Cu for the service and for any 200A feeder, e.g. if you have feed-thru lugs connecting two 200A panels. You may not use #4 Cu for a 100A feeder within that dwelling unit, that would require #3 Cu, same as any non-dwelling unit. [All sizes above require 75C rated conductors, so no NM cable.]

Yea I figured unless it was the main service it would not be eligible for the 83% rule. I guess I explained that wrong
