It is by design, they are controlling the market. They make the new resources must have the first week or two and then make them worthless. If they had these exp rates from the start the wc/fletch update would of been the biggest flop in the history of the game. Jagex is a really shitty gaming company that is all there is to it.
I noticed this with a few updates recently, but the shooting star update sealed the deal for what Jagex is doing. They are trying to say they are adding new content to the game, but trying to also make it so you have to do more, thus play the game longer ie spend more money, to get stuff done. Nerfing the fletching forces players to play longer, thus needing more months of membership of which they just increased the price of. The shooting star update, which is requires for Trimmed Comp, gives almost no benefits for doing it, while also taking up to 50 minutes to mine a lvl 10 star. All this sucks up a players time, which then makes them spend more money on membership, or keys, to speed it up. That's it. That's what they are thinking of when making updates now. At least that's what it feels like.
true, i've been playing almost 20 years and one thing that has always stayed true in my mind is how fucking dumb they are. they have blinders on and earplugs in, no quality control at all or common sense. heck, there's a typo on 50% of posts or content dialogue, like, you could bet irl cash on the chance there'll be a typo in the next update and have good odds. complete mongs. its still a 'small indie game' imo, a small indie game with close to a billion in the bank. lol.
I once complained Jagex doesn't know how to balance anything fairly and someone responded to the comment with "No company gets thing exactly perfect on first try". This is true and a good point, most devs when coming up with rough numbers can tweak things after launch by 5-10%. Jagex REGURALY will buff or nerf by 100%, 200%, 500% stuff like FOFO construction on launch needed to be cranked up by like 10x to even be viable. Not getting things perfect is understandable but stuff like this amount happening constantly makes me thing Jagex just doesn't play their own game.
In general it feels like top tier to highest level skilling content for some reason suffers a lot from "not really worth it" type problems. Is it because they overdid the value of lesser stuff and are spooked to scale accordingly? Possibly. But it is a bizzare situation to find crop up so ofthen. Why can't the highest level skilling option just be hands down the best option? Like logic would dictate if you unlock a new tier of things. With some modifiers for "this one gives better xp but no resources!" type choice. Highest tier stuff should be more rewarding than lesser than. High level rewards should be high tier rewards. High tier unlocks should be high tier unlocks. None of this lame duck dead duck stuff where they seem afraid to actually let things do what they say on the tin because of building a creep they can't sustain. The top is not how you balance such a thing.
This happens with many games that rely on new content to get cash and player attention again. Overtune a new update, let it cook, let people exploit it, and once the hype dies down, nerf it and address it as "nerfing due to community feedback". This happens with MOBAs, hero shooters, MMORPGs; it's a method to sell the new content or updates while they are strong. It's really gross.
I am back at buying ascensions shards to fletch to ascendri bolts, then combining with hydrix bolt tips and then enchanting them. Yes, it's a bit slower method, but I get money profit from it and some magic xp in preparation to 110 magic update( I only have like 99 magic with 14 mils xp). With various boosts, shards to bolts are roughly 250 xp, and bolts to hydrix bolts are an additional 130 xp. So one load is around 14k and 7k xp, which in total would give you roughly 21k xp instead of around 32k to 40k, making primal headless arrows pre nerfed.
Honestly i think everyone needs to complain way way more. I play warframe where they use to drop the nerf hammer left and right till the community got fed up with it and said something. They almost completely stopped nerfing things and most "nerfs" now are slight changes that actually balance. They also just got better and not introducing OP things. If anything the tend to come in on the lower end and buff things now.
Also hearing about the xp rates i thought you know it is the highest fletching in the game so it kinda makes sense. I really should have known better. I think this might be the final lesson and I should stop expecting things from these people.
I don't think it could be more obvious at this point. They're slowly catching up the people that are willing to grind at the start of an update to the already 200m xp player base. Then they nerf the method for the people that aren't consistently playing so that it takes them longer to reach that same goal. Sooner or later they will raise that same 200m xp, or officially end the game. All while milking the playerbase with the still existing MTX. It's a win/win for both the company and us as a playerbase, until it isn't. We get to enjoy the game we still so dearly cling to, and they profit from us for years to come until we all see this same point.
To be fair, none of fletching makes any sense since the mining and smithing rework and the evolution of combat. Dragon darts are a level 95 requirement for a level 60 dart and is one of thehighest gp/xp out of almost any skilling method in the game. If and when they decide to rework the entire skill, I still think it should be at least a bit more exp than dragon darts are right now.
Jamflex should let the old school team run RS3 for a few months; I jumped ship in 2020 and the disparity in levels of competency between the two teams is wild.
Expecting Jagex to balance this out with a Fletching themed Treasure Hunter promo. (Please revert the Slayer exp nerf, my Hellhound tasks hurt to complete now)
After this much time you really would think Jagex would have more common sense: higher level methods should award more xp. Also skills should all have at least three methods: fast and active, profitable and active, and slow and afk.
they should increase the buy limit on primal arrows 10k is to low when you can buy 100k arrow heads every 4 hours.. primal arrows are only like 100-200ea
its honestly dumb how mutch they nerfed them. its worse xp/h than rune arrows below 104. rune arrows head require 50 smithing to make if you are an ironman and requires 2 low lvl ores. primal arrow head requires lvl 100 smithing, lvl 100 mining and 10 ores for every 250 (?) arrow and they give less xp action unless 104+ and you need the level 100 logs to and if its simular to elder shaft each log gives 15 of the specific shaft while regular arrow shaft gives up to 40 pr log (Magic log) so you get them a lot faster to. i think a reasonable one would have been to atleast give them slightly more xp pr item than rune arrows so 200 xp pr fletching or maybe 225 which put them at the level of broad arrows.
My only conclusion to this is they were trying to make the highest level ammo a money maker as opposed to an xp method, In theory the highest tier ammo should be most in demand except this makes no sense because we have baki bolts and god arrows. So I am at a total loss here.
As soon as I started making primal bolts I knew they would get nerfed. Glad I rushed the 100mil fletching exp I needed for 200mil exp before the nerf. Jagex just does not know how to do anything other than overreact. I understand 20mil exp per hour being beyond insane with dxp bombs and bxp, but this nerf makes the update pointless.
primal arrows are probaly the things that are least affected by poor balanced just look at active vs not playing the game kind of training or effort vs reward points in certain cb styles c:
this has always and will always remain an issue with Runescape. You really start to notice how illogical some things are once you get serious on an ironman. Level requirements are often completely out of wack with rewards.

So not only is the gp per xp terrible but so is the xp per hour making it damn near pointless to even consider making unless your an iron and need the items or some random swing in the market makes it a good money maker.
To be fair, all metal bolts are small xp, that's what they're supposed to do. You should've compared the primal bolts with the other bolts instead of darts, as darts are always the fastest xp

pretty sure primal mining/smithing is worse xp/hr than elder rune also. considering how long it takes to mine the primal ores

And each of those factors entirely rely on eachother.

Tbh Jagex is like a binary code. It's either 1 (overpower af) or 0 (nerf to hell)
It's worth clarifying that the increased xp/hr is not more xp per arrow. You simply make more arrows.
The xp/arrow made is lower than adamant arrows.
Dude, those Xp rates were great why do they hate us?
