I have no idea how the algo-magic worked, but thank goodness it suggested one of your videos, Sakura! I'm looking to go into L&D and I can't wait to jump into it after 10+ years in a completely different field (talk about pivots!) Looking fwd to watching more of your videos. Do you cover more aspects of challenges in L&D/general, working at a global (and multi-cultural) company?

Can I just say that your comment made my day? I'm so glad this was helpful for you to get an intro to L&D because I really enjoy what I do and that's why I wanted to share with people like you! To your question -- definitely, I'm already planning to make a video soon about working at a global company in Japan, and 100% would love to deep dive more into L&D soon. Thank you so much for watching 😊Also I'm not sure if you've seen it, but it might be additionally helpful to watch my "how to career pivot" video if you haven't already: ruclips.net/video/Of24vL6-XI0/видео.html

@@Sakurambo SO happy to hear my comment made your day! I'd love a non-tech tech career, ideally utilizing both ENG/JPN, and L&D related. I'm already a member of ATD (Assoc. of Talent Dev), I already made the big pivot and now work in HR. Just a bit more of a pivot! I look forward to you future videos re: working at a global company in Japan (any diff between global nikkei kigyo v.s. gaishikei) or event top bilingual jobs in Japan!

I have a bachelor's in design and a master's in Strategic design management (Not an MBA) I work as a UX researcher at a tech company and realised lately that this field is just not for me. I love a role where I have more human connection/communication; I genuinely only feel a sense of accomplishment when I get to help/guide others to become better. My current role does not fulfil me. Can someone from design shift to an L & D role? I'm quite lost so if you have any tips it would mean sooo much!🥺
Glad I came across this video! Thank you for sharing

I may be naive but omg, absolutely! Design folks have to be mindful about the user & strategic about content & details to achieve certain goals. Maybe you can look into a role like Instructional Design, where you are the person creating the physical (?) course flow, objectives, and the actual training such as an e-learning course via LMS (learning management systems). In L&D, I think this would be a great role to use your cross functional skills as an entry into the field. I'd recommend you to start connecting with folks on your internal L&D teams to find out more information. Good luck!

As a fellow Japanese American and kikokushijo, I’m curious to know if you work in Japanese or English?

    • @Sakurambo

Both! I work with my direct L&D team in English (global team), but the org I support in Japan and vendors prefer Japanese so I adjust then.
