Came in expecting five cuts of eating at a snack bar, and going to seminars, or the workplace gym, and instead got actual work related content. Thanks for sharing this.
Omg me too. I literally just came from a video that's a "daily life of a software engineer" but the whole video was food + unboxing a new laptop + a game day with coworkers.. like yeah that's totally their daily routine..
@@snowbird7254well it was probably just one day. You don’t know if that’s how everyday actually is for them, since every workplace is different, so it’s important not to judge
It's funny that this is the expectation when women make such videos. And it's true, that's all I was seeing, at least until they have been first to be laid off.
Thank you for actually showing a work day that looks realistic and stressful, and you've definitely taught me that even though things seem very difficult and stressful it is possible to make it through and sees is through to the end. Seeing that things aren't perfect all the time is honestly more relieving than I thought and it is important to remember that everyone has ups and downs and goes through difficulties so I certainly feel a lot less terrified to graduate next year...
This is my first time watching one of your videos, and I think the timing could not have been better. I've been stressed at my first "adult" job which is remote and I think I needed to see another young professional not having a perfect day. It's honestly more motivating to see someone be stressed, have a bad day, and work through it to the end than to see someone whose life just seems perfect, so thank you, Jenn
Appreciate the kind words~ I hope you get through this stressful period as well. Adjusting to first "adult" job is a hurdle itself 🥲 but keep going! you got this :)
This is my first time watching your video. I really appreciate how you dare to show the bad side of adult working life, I know it's really tiring and stressing. Appreciate the mindset that you didn't stop filming only because it's a bad day. Keep it up the good work. If you're having a bad day, remember it's not only you and I hope this comment makes your day. Have a great day ahead dear Jenn Cho.
Everything online is glamorized nowadays so that’s great you’re able to show the not so great days. It definitely takes a little bit of vulnerability to do so. There’s always going to be better days though. Keep doing what you’re doing. Love the videos! 😊✨
Well it may be the same job but it looks different for every person depending on where they work, especially since someone may buy certain things to romanticise school or glamourise their life, so it’s important not to judge 😊
This video is so relatable, thank you! This is literally my life right now. Additionally daytime in Seattle nowadays is super short, and with the end of H2 coming fast, I think that also compounds onto the stress at this time of the year. Learning to manage expectations across stakeholders and set healthy boundaries gets easier with time and practice. It's always better to say no with good justification, than say yes and burn yourself out.
it’s really refreshing to see a real routine and a real situation, so thanks for sharing even the stressful parts!!! also, howl’s soooo cute and i love how talkative and playful he is 🥺🩷
Thank you for showing a real you and a real day of your life, it's always nice to know that sometimes there are just not so great days, but we can always push through. Keep on going!
Thanks for sharing this! I'm a software engineer as well and some days are sooooo stressful and overwhelming so this is very realistic. When I get super stressed I just tell myself that it's temporary and every project has a finish line :)
Finally someone to show the more realistic "day in the life" video. Although I'm working in IT, I know exactly how you feel. Just relax and keep pushing, turn the negative thoughts into positive. Good luck!
It's my first time seeing howl this active like in all other videos he was just staring or sitting in the background but in this video his natural instinct woke up 😂.....btw howl is soo beautiful
Thank you for the realistic content. I have started a corporate job and while other bloggers may mean to be aesthetic, the glamourization made it unrelatable for me, whereas this one I felt very connected with
i just got into big tech as a SWE intern (in the seattle area too)! 😊 a huge part of it honestly was the motivation and inspiration i found from your videos, so thank you! definitely one of my fav youtubers & role models:) hoping i can will myself to make vids of my own soon enough :>

i do appreciate the transparency, i am currently in school for engineering and using these types of videos to get a glimpse of what i am getting myself into. so thank u
Thank you so much for sharing this day in your life, despite having more stress and less glamour than others. This feels more like slice of life than many of the “day in the life…” videos. Not to say that every ‘realistic’ day would be like this one, but more so that days like this are part of reality in SWE life.
Great insight into a realistic work day as a software engineer, there are definitely days where things get very stressful. Been going through it myself past couple weeks with a MVP for a new system that we have been working on for the past couple months, last weeks bug fixes and testing is just a huge mental drain, but things always get better :)
Hi Jenn !! Thank you for showing us the reality of life, as you said, working in technology is often romanticized and you need to know that there are two sides like everything in life
Hi Jenn! I've been a long time viewer of your channel and I just want to say that you have inspired me so much! I'm a senior in university studying CS, and I really hope to get into big tech. This honesty is so refreshing to me, and it's reassuring, since right now the job market is tough. Thank you!!
Thank u so much for sharing this "not so glamour side" of working in tech. I have bad days in my tech company too and I think we need to normalize it more. Especially being a woman, we often work on cycles every month so we need to be gentle with ourselves 💕 edit: HOWL IS SO CUTE
This is for sure a realistic software engineer work day, as SWE we deal with tons of things daily that usually we just show the bright side to others. Thanks for sharing. P.S. Loved your cat’s named.
Best wishes to you that you won't get burnt out like me. Some nosy 3rd tier advice: Don't buy what you don't need (don't go revenge spending) and try to save as much as you can for if or when you truly do get burnt out, you at least get the luxury to buy the time to ride out the burnt pain and self reflect to discover what you're missing all this time. Do note, I still haven't found my answer, so apologies that I don't have more to share.
I'm a software engineer too and I feel the same everytime I go to the office. It's nice to meet the teammates but I lose a lot of time commuting and at the end of the day I don't have time to do anything, just eat and some relax
I still don't get companies sending people to the office. Stand-up is through a video-conference and for the rest, the office seems quite empty. Same as the place where I work (IT as well). Almost totally empty and most people don't want to be on those Agile rooms anymore. Most guys are going to the office and isolate themselves to avoid being bothered by the rest. I really prefer WFH.
I like your videos so much. Howl is so cute. Can you please make a separate vlog on him? Like about his healthcare, neutering and how he spends time home alone.
Howl is a cutie! 💜 Loved this vlog. Thanks for showing the unglamorous side of tech jobs (been there before). Seems like you have the right mindset and approach to get you through the busy times. Respect.
hello, sweetheart. i just bumped into your video. thank you for sharing the realistic part of working in tech industry. im also a worker in tech industry and i can relate to how you feel in the video because everyday is just another stressful day :") the thing about working in this industry that it's not always glamorous and fun. stressful days when we have so much on our plates do exist. whatever it is, i hope you always find a few relaxing time to recharge everyday. watch your favorite drama, pamper yourself, and play with howl! sending you so much love and support!
Your kitty is so cute and is just like mine ha. Very vocal when he wants something. Also, I appreciate seeing a realistic day from you! I hope the rest of this week goes well for you and is less stressful! :)
Your morning routine to your kitty to your office was beautifully planned. Looks like you got this your intelligent and passionate in your career. Man, waking up at 8am and still have time for bathroom routine and breakfast before work. That's a luxury for sure xD And you're even home around 6pm by the looks of things. Guessing commute isn't that far? Most days I'm up at 6am, work starts 7:30 and I'm moving non-stop until 3pm (home nurse), then maybe .5-2 hours overtime for office work to round off the day. Workout, afternoon nap (nearing your 40s is rough), dinner and 2-3 hours of personal time before bed at 10pm... Luckily I like my job cuz it really feels like I have no life outside of it. -.-
