    Awesome idea to use that stuff! I spent about $500 or so last year on the insulated panels and it took me forever to put on. I have since moved spots and had to throw it all away. I will certainly hang on to this idea.

    How did you access the dump valve handles? I need to do this this week but was curious how to get a proper seal around the dump handles. Looks great man, nice job!

    • @OneStrangeJourney
      @OneStrangeJourney  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks! So on my RV the dump handles are inside the storage compartment. But in your situation I would perhaps cut a small seem in the reflection that can be resealed with tape you know. Just a flap to open and shut. Mainly we are just trying to keep the wind out from under the RV, but the better sealed it is definitely helps. Good Luck!! I just redid it again this year but used that metal ducting tape, not the gorrrila tape. the Gorilla tape leaves a residue that's a pain to get off.

    Is this sufficient to keep pipes from freezing?

    • @OneStrangeJourney
      @OneStrangeJourney  9 месяцев назад +1

      How cold is it where you are? Last year I added in a small space heater I used on extreme days, but this year so far no space heater. We have been as low as -3f and so far and have not dipped below 40f under the rv. A normal day for the last 2 weeks we have been between 0F and 33f. No issues. but keep in mind most of your pipes also benefit from heat generated by your furnace. Skirting helps stop the heat loss from the RV underneath, and helps keep your tanks from freezing.

    Does anyone know how big of a difference this actually makes?

    • @OneStrangeJourney
      @OneStrangeJourney  6 месяцев назад

      Glad you asked, I can give you a recent example. A few weeks ago it was -30f outside, under my rv was 21f above 0. That’s 50 degree difference with no heater under my rv. It just held in the heat radiating under the rv. I will have an upcoming video showing this in a week or so.

    Did the tape hold up to the wet snow flurries?
    Did the tape remove paint from the siding on the RV?

    • @OneStrangeJourney
      @OneStrangeJourney  7 месяцев назад +1

      It did hold up well, but it left residue behind when I removed it. I have an updated video showing a better tape to use. It’s that metal hvac style tape. I’ll post a link for you to help.

    How did this hold up?
    Did you put gravel over the part that was on the ground?

    • @OneStrangeJourney
      @OneStrangeJourney  Год назад +1

      It did great. No gravel but I did shovel snow over the bottom a few times just as insurance against those nasty Montana winds.

      @OneStrangeJourney what was estimated lowest temp or winds this held up against? Any problems with freezing pipes or tanks?

    • @OneStrangeJourney
      @OneStrangeJourney  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@jakesongbird3256 we got down to -34 f. No frozen pipes. I did later on use a little 800-1000 watt heater to help. Not sure how needed it was. Not running a heater this year in Greybull Wyoming. So far this season under RV stayed above 40f with -1f outside.

    The other video I watched the guy placed Reflectix all around his RV. He said it made a 25% reduction in his heat bill. Although he put the reflective side out and used silver tape. I don't think he cut it he said he put rocks on top of it to hold it in place. I'm gonna be up against this task early next month looks like I will need help?

    • @OneStrangeJourney
      @OneStrangeJourney  Год назад +2

      Hello Mary, yes use the silver tape. My local co-op had none. It will not leave sticky resin behind when you remove it. I went with what I had because we were a day away from a arctic storm.
      It’s much easier with a extra set of hands but not a hard job. Made a huge difference for us. Oh and reflexive side out or white side I don’t believe makes a big difference. I choose white to it would look less noticeable.
      Please feel free to ask anymore questions if anything comes up. Be glad to help! ☺️

      So did you figure if this was as effective in reducing your heating bill as other skirting like nylon or metal? Did it perform as desired?

    • @OneStrangeJourney

      gorilla tape. was a mistake, left residue behind. use that silver ducting tape.

    research before you do anything. KNOW which side should face out. There is a reason. Some people like to just wing it blindly. Whatever floats your boat.

    • @OneStrangeJourney
      @OneStrangeJourney  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey it worked just fine like that and I didn't want it to look obnoxious. I doubt there is a diff between silver side out or white especially in this application. The most important part is stopping the wind from robbing out heat and trying to keep some heat in.

    That tape is worth less. I used Flashing tape. Works better.

    • @OneStrangeJourney
      @OneStrangeJourney  9 месяцев назад +1

      It actually worked well but left residue that took forever to get off. And you are correct, the flashing tape is the correct tape to use and I am using it this year!
