Thank you for your help. I purchased the proper 4K, for Mac HDMI for my Macbook -> Samsung 4K, 42' TV to use as a monitor and all problems solved, including the 60hz refresh rate. Since It's been a dreamy experience using my 4K TV as a monitor. Absolutely NO lag. I use the Magic Keyboard + Magic Trackpad and it's also working perfectly! Thank you for the tutorial!
Heres what worked for me: (2021 Macbook M1 Pro with Samsung 4k TV) 1. used the best hdmi port on the tv (usually its HDMI1) 2. bought the usbC to HDMI cable (check that it supports 4k60) 3. changed the Samsung tv "HDMI UHD Color" from OFF to ON. (other brands may have a similar setting) Then i got 4k 60hz on the tv. Did not need to disable SIP or download any softwares. Hopefully this helps other mac users. :)
After many hours of try different settings you're solution was thats worked for me. I have to just turn off HDMI UHD colour to get full 4k output. Thanks alot
Great video. Another tip that helped me get the 60hz rr... try Dongle or ctype to hdmi in the different hdmi ports on TV. On my lg... hdmi1 is the only hdmi port that will mirror in 60hz.
OMG - that was my issue! I bought one of these dongles and it still wasn’t working. But I had it plugged into HDMI 3. Even though all the inputs on my LG C2 42” are supposed to be 4k 120, only HDMI 1 allowed the Mac to output 4k 60. Thanks!
