Glad you are putting it to work and that it’s found a new home! Spent 40 plus years on a working ranch in Southeast Oklahoma. Can’t wait to see what you create on it!

You gave it a nice respectable home Chris!! Looking forward to seeing many projects birthed on that anvil.

Thats a nice find and gone to a good home, here in UK anvils are expensive to buy, a swage block can fetch £500,I got mine off ebay traveled 200 miles for it but im glad i did. Stay safe you and your,s

That's wild, I never really took into account that they may be high everywhere. I honestly just thought it was a US thing due to shows like forged in fire driving interest and prices up. A swage is on my list but unless you buy new from Holland anvil they seem more elusive than anvils.

Very nice! I like that you made texturing dies for your press; I will do the same when mine arrives. Gotta say, though, that if my anvil bounced around as much as your new beauty it would drive me crazy!

That siren sings solid. May be a good candidate to Goop to the stand.

    hi
i have a question its always bugged me,
why do black smiths let there hammers bounce off the anvil .
    all my best simon

For me it's more of a rhythm/fatigue thing. I've heard that in heavy hot hammering out may reduce some of the surface temperature in the hammer head but honestly I think it's more the aforementioned for most.
