I like the shape of the smaller one. And the step. But I still think I like the bigger one better. I wish I had a big London pattern. They are both good though.
Yeah. I think so. You would forge it in sections. But the harder part of doing a sword is the heat treat. I still haven't made a sword. I have done a few daggers. I really do want to forge a sword though.
I've seen people build a sword shape fire pit with coal/coke and bricks... then put the sword in a metal case filled with sand .... and let it sit on the embers for a few hours.... not sure how good I have explained it.. or how good it is for heat-treat. Thats what I'm gunna for.. I think.. when I try a sword. Either way..... I know the standard ill be making. Lol
You have inspired me to build this stand for my anvil. The first project through my forge and on my new anvil are the bands, which are currently in progress. What is the process for applying the beeswax/orange oil?
Thats really awesome. I work in sections and make sure to get every inch red hot in the forge. That will create a scale on the metal. Once I got every inch red hot then cooled back down, I'll use a torch to heat up sections to roughly 100° Then add the oil and it'll turn dark black. It also keeps it from rusting.
1) I made the wood stand about 28.5 In Tall. The Anvil is 8.5 in tall. so Together it stands 37in tall. I am 6ft 5in tall so when I hold a hammer comfortably so the face of the hammer is on the face of the anvil, the handle is level with my hand. 2) Im not sure what you mean by "what disk" other than the flap disc on the angle grinder. That was a 36 grit flap disc. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you.
I'm sorry, but you lost the commission on this sale for the anvil. I already have one. But you do get a few attaboys for the build. It looks really nice. I'll come back someday to see you use it. *The only place in America where forging is allowed is in a Blacksmith shop.* Now you need a new T-shirt that says "I forge legally"
Oh wow another great build
Thank you
Ridiculously good job! I love the stand, those bands around it look sweet.
Thank you
I just bought my blacksmithing setup and got this anvil, I havent watched yet but your video came at the perfect time. Thanks for this!
Beautifully done! I was going to throw some quick cheap anvil stand together, but you have made me reconsider.
Very Nice! 😮
Nice video mate, just got the same Anvil yesterday , and will make the exact same stand, great job, just subscribed .
That’s awesome. If you’re going to set it up on a concrete floor, you might want to use some angle iron to make a couple brackets to bolt it down.
Very nice. I've been trying to figure out a stand for my new Vevor. Looks like I've got a weekend project coming up.
That’s awesome. Which anvil did you get?
@@drewdoesart9277 the 66lb Vevor like yours. Just getting started in this. Have taken a few classes at Soulcraft in Cleveland and really enjoying it.
Now that you have had some time - and you could only have one - what would it be. The little London Pattern or the larger one you have?
I like the shape of the smaller one. And the step. But I still think I like the bigger one better. I wish I had a big London pattern. They are both good though.
Very nice stand... maybe a silly question.. but... could you forge a sword with that anvil?

What type of beeswax is used?
I use orange oil and beeswax all in one. I got it at the Home Depot. It’s called “Feed-N-Wax”
@@drewdoesart9277 I saw that one, but it said wood and furniture. So I wanted to be sure. Is it best to add while the metal is above warm?
HI. Two questions:
1) How tall is the wooden support you built?
2) what disk do you use here:

Thanks!

@@drewdoesart9277 I understand completely, thank you very much!!

😆 that would be a awesome T-shirt.
