  • In this video I make a heavy duty steel anvil stand out of some scrap material in the shop. The anvil mounted to the top is this $325 anvil I picked up on ebay. Check out the video about that anvil here:

    That’s one hell of an anvil stand man! I’d love some weld on hammer slots like that.

    Love the ToT method of cutting metal. I should try that someday.

    If you don't need the added weight of the sand, you can deaden the noise instead by filling the cavity with 2-part rigid polyurethane foam. That's what's in my anvil stand, made from 2x12s and it is wonderfully quiet.

    Personally, I would've done even less welding but hey, you managed to keep it flat and to each their own. Good work and good inspiration. Would love to start blacksmithing

    One minute in and I’m already missing the pile of huge steel plates and the plasma cutting table. Oh well. Tree stump it is. 😅

    I like that stand. Only one minor thing I might not like though, I can immagine allot of bounce to your tools when you drop them in the slots. A little bounce and racket to follow. Yeah, I know, I'm talking about noise at a forging "station" but everything does add up...

    If hammer storage becomes an issue near the top, try basket type pockets on side of the tube steel w/hammer heads in the bucket (handle's up for easy grab)

    I thought about making a metal stand, but making it short enough to put a 2×10 board between the anvil and stand, that way it won't ring.

    Sweet! Been trying to figure out a good way to hang my hammers around the anvil. Currently using 6x 4x4s bolted together for the stand.

    Try bed of silicone under the anvil to dull the ring - as well as some large strong magnets.

    Варить крышку не надо надо сделать на болтах и положить мешок в трубу и насыпать в него песка. Делай так чтоб конструкция была разборной и ты мог её передвинуть если нужно на другое место сам безо всякой помощи , крепления для стуловых тисков лёгкое ,при таком креплении нельзя в них бить молотком они будут прыгать , нужно или утяжелить конструкцию ,или сделать шире угол ножек тогда будет устойчиво.

    How do you like that 132# Amazon anvil?

    • @MakeEverything
      @MakeEverything  3 года назад +1

      Overall I think it’s a good value at under $325. It’s a cool shape and e rebound is good. I haven’t put too much metal on it so I can’t speak to its lifespan but so far it sure looks cool!

    • @lukelofgren4108
      @lukelofgren4108 3 года назад

      I have the 66# version of it and you can't go wrong for the price. I wish I had waited till that one was back in stock but I can't complain. Just try not to strike the face of the anvil with a hefty hammer blow is all I can say as advice. I have a couple dents from beveling blades. That stand you made is awesome! My stand is a hard maple round with a large rope wrapped and nailed to create hammer and tool storage.
