- Tasman went for a nice week long tahr hunt in Canterbury early June, hitting some proper cold mornings and bluebird days. A bit of poor shooting, close stalking and rutting action topped off with some succulent feasting.
Cheers for watching! Stay tuned for part 2 😁

Thanks Matty 😊
You never fail to amaze me, Tasman, on how much ingredients you pack to prepare your meals. I enjoy watching your cookups as much as your hunts. Thankyou!
Hahaha thanks Kevin 😁 cheers for watching!
Next level footage Tasman! The close ups of the tahr are right up there with the best I've seen!!
Wow thanks so much Brian! Much appreciated 😁
Another awesome adventure video, loved the scenery, closeups of the animals and the phat sausages ❤ keep it coming! 😀
Thanks Dad 😁
Mate if I walked into that hut and saw you cooking up a "michelin star" meal in the middle of the Southern Alps I would crack up! Nobody does Kai time better than you! haha
Hahaha I don't think Gordon would think much of my cooking 🤣 Thanks Ben 😁
Mate, there's no way you alone. You must have a team of porters to get your stuff up there.😉
Hahaha sometimes it does feel like I need at least a couple porters 😅
Awesome adventure yum as feeds too
Love watching your adventures.
Another excellent Video. You must be incredibly fit and agile to do the hunts including the awareness to photographically storyline and execute the hunt. 👌👊
Really appreciate it 😁 believe me I don't feel fit nor agile with that bloody backpack on 🤣 but thank you!
I'm not forgetting the cooking. We absolutely love what and how you cook up. We learnt some thing from your exploits.👊👌
That's awesome, glad you're enjoying the vids!
Cool footage there Tasman, I would hope you take some long pants ,etc on your hunts, I got hypothermia once in winter with the shorts on hunting, didnt realise I had it untill back at hut later,,,took 2 days to recover.
Thanks Fred 😁. That's actually a really good reminder, I'll pack something long just in case now👍. I tend to just wrap up super warm on the top half and the bottom half is all good, but definitely a good idea to have something if the weather or leg status changes... cheers mate
Mate that was awesome. Some impressive leg work in there too. I even chuckled out loud to myself at one point. Great video
Cheers mate! Glad you enjoyed it 😁
Sausages looked unreal!
Cool as!!!🥳🤠👌👌👌👍Nice 😊💯💯💯
That's a nifty funnel attachment for your mincer 👍
sausages on site! Wow . . . you eat real well . . . a good thing to do on a hut day!
Thanks mate, beats freeze dried that's for sure 😂
Awesome trip Tasman, I especially like the light reading!! Keep it coming! 1:02
Thanks Chris! Haha yours was a great read, cool story and a nice animal 😁 cheers mate, you too!
Very creative with your processing and menu ideas. Great footage and one hell of a step pinnacle with huge drop offs for the shot.
Thank you! Cheers for watching, haha it didn't seem that steep at the time 😂
Epic footage bro
I like how you kept in the embarrassing shots, I have made a few including my last time which was 2misses in a row with 2 mates standing right beside me. Life is a learning exercise and those are the lessons. From my shots I learnt, no matter what is going on find the best rest you can to shoot from. Easy shots are the easiest to screw up.
Haha happens from time to time 😂 yeah that should've been a pretty easy shot whoops. But but there's nothing worse than wounding an animal so we got off lucky there!
Detailed filming Tasman ,that was followed up with next level Alpine Cuisine . Enjoying your adventures ,bring on part 2
Phat Rulz.
Thanks Wayne! Cheers for watching 😁
Fantastic video again. Thank you
A bit disappointed to see you in boots and not your normal Jandals! As always, a pleasure to watch your videos, your animal photography is getting better and better.
You could give the Duleys a cooking lesson or two, get them away from those abominable freeze dry things 🙂
😂 uh oh do I have a reputation to uphold now 😅 Thank you! I always love getting a close stalk in on some animals.
Hahaha a freeze dried is good for emergencies but nothing beats a good fresh tahr burger 😂
My new favourite channel!! While most walk in ultra light these days, you bring a mincer, pasta maker etc! Too good!! What a legend!!
Aw thanks! Anything for a proper cookup aye 😂 Thanks for watching 😁
Reality lived and sights seen by only a handful. Thanks for sharing 💯.
Thanks for watching!
The great Chef returns.
Oh yeah, that settles it, Andrews Stream this weekend it is. I really enjoyed seeing your full vlog style complete with pack content breakdown. Its all the detail I love to live through while watching. You are like a virtual friend to help me prepare myself for my next journey. I only just discovered your channel, it was actually recommended by another youtuber during his video. I was not disappointed! I really enjoyed your approach to stalking combined with photography. I cant quite picture where you are, it it up the Crow river top of the Waimakariri? Ignore this question if you want to keep it a little secret. CHeers for a quality production, Heath. PS I nearly fell over when you started making your own sausages, on trip! well done.
Wow thanks so much for your comment! Very much appreciated 😊. That's nice of that youtuber :). Lovely to hear such positive feedback 😁. This spot is closer to the Rangitata, good numbers of tahr rund there for sure. Those sausages sure were succulent 🤣 Cheers for watching!
Hi Tasman great videos.good to see you only take what you need, and not over hunt for just for the sake of trophy hunting. Very nice views from the mountain top.
Beautiful country. I was in South Island not to long ago what a beautiful place.Hope to go for a hunt in South Island one day.👍
Thanks Peter! Would like to catch up to a nice stag one day, but I'm a meat hunter through and through 😁. Cheer mate, hope you get out there soon 👌
What a feast from the beast. Nice Bro!

Truly amazing filming, it must be hard to shoot the tahr after seeing how beautiful they were with your camera
Thank you! Definitely, was considering not having a shot, but the lure of meat for the rest of the trip proved too tempting 😆. Cheers for watching 👌
Awesome brother 🤙🤙
Your the man bro great footage as usual an yes Ladies definitely taste better a nice bull tahr mane would look nice too on the floor infront of the fireplace 😊
Thanks mate! Yeah I've got my mate Alex's nice pelt on the wall from three years back, pretty awesome coat 😁

Nice one Tasman!
Thanks Jim!
Love this hunting chanel you cook yummy meals
Thank you! Filling the belly and soul 😁
I really enjoy your style, Id love to know your pack weight, lovely meals to made me hungry, keep the vids coming!
Thanks so much! Packs pretty standardly at least 20kg, 30 for longer trips, often 50+ on the way out with a bit of venison on board! Cheers mate 😁
On the off chance I ever bump into you in a hut, do you take cash only for those burgers or do you take eftpos too?
Some outstanding footage in this one! Awesome.
Hahaha I'd gladly share just for a couple good yarns 😂 Thanks for watching!
This was a good one. Do you seek out those prickly bush things! What a lucky brother. I hope to see the other ¾ of that pie in the second video, unless, that modest slice you cut was just for the camera and reality was that it was eaten entirely that night! Amazing scenery, fantastic weather and incredible backpack MacGyver skills. The coats on those Tahr were amazing. And what’s up with that Tahr dude and that tongue action? That was a good call not shooting the ones that would have ended up in the river, and then very kind of you to send out a warning shot, but then OMG, you were very goal focused (and ibex like) skipping alone those stones to take that shot. It looked dodgy, even for a professional. Any news on Arved’s return - maybe he is waiting for summer before returning? How could it be those intestines looked so gross, but the sausages so good. Culinary show off. It’s nice that you cook enough food for your whole crew. Tasman code - hut day = food day. Whole video was epic. Loved it.
Unfortunately the matagouri is all too often quite unavoidable, nasty stuff 😂. Hahaha the pie lasted one more night, too good to keep! The tahr dude was "tasting" the air to see if the nanny was ready for a root as far as I'm aware 😂 first time I'd seen it in person. I think the camera made it seem steeper than it was! Didn't seem too dodgy at the time anyway 😂.
No news on Arveds return, however he's sounding pretty keen on getting into the old freediving over in Ireland, so here's hoping he gets stuck in and we get treated to some nz Irish adventures finally 😆.
Yeah the intestines were yuck but it all scrapes off so all good, thinking maybe I should buy some casings for next time as it took a wee while 👀. It was a really fun trip, thanks Paul 😊
@@NZWildAdventures dirty Tahr dude - gonna have to carry a PG13 rating on your videos if this keeps up.
🤣 uh oh
Phaat !!🤙👍🇳🇿🇳🇿
🤣👌
Mate... Was it you who got stuck on an iceberg up Mt cook in the inflatable? That was my first thought when it came on the news😅
It did cross my mind too😂😂
Nah but I agree, 100% of the details are correct (except for the getting stuck bit) 🤣 I wanna know how it happened 🤦♂️
Haha same here!
Well it would make for a blockbuster video 😀
Hi Tassie, another nice bit of filming, certainly great to see some animals should have put that weird antler animal in the freezer, just wondering do you actually put on weight on those trips 😅
Thanks mate! It was pretty ugly aye, I wonder if it was genetic or just an injury. Hahaha definitely ain't going hungry 🤣
I Shot one back home on the West Coast years ago and one antler had some how been bent around and it was growing in to its face still tasted good keep them video and that camera footage coming mate I love how clear and crisp the shots are and it's just great watching their behavior when they don't know your there 👍
Damn that sounds nasty 😅. Cheers mate that's much appreciated 😊, plenty more to come! Yeah that's what I love, added bonus of taking a bit of top shelf meat home too (sometimes)👌
Awesome footage 😁 but the shorts. Shorts!
Shorts for every occasion 🤣 Thanks Summer 😁
Niiiiiiceee
cool trip ! how much dos your pack end up weighing?🤣
Too much 🤣 58kg this time, got another animal later in the trip and had plenty of nanny left to carry out 😅
Ah yes that tongue action always gets da ladies
🤣 works every time
@nzwildadventures hay ??? Those mincer are thay at huts or are ya lugging it in every time
An what happened to those Irish sea lobster cach'in'cook he did promise a dive vlog , well in my stoner mind I'm sure he did 😜😂😂
The mincer only weighs a kilo so it's one of my packing essentials these days 😂
Hahaha Arved's working on it, hopefully we'll get a vid sometime this winter 😉
Do you take any clothes? ha ha, just trying to figure out how you fit all of that food and cooking utensils in your pack...!!
Hahaha it's definitely a bit of a squeeze sometimes, had a fair few things dangling off the outside on the way home with the meat on the inside 😂
