    i had the same problem as you with the bodice not lining up perfectly at the waist. i ended up moving the buttons slightly to get it to line up visually as it was driving me crazy as well. your dress ended up beautiful and congrats on a successful vlogmas!

    Thank you for a wonderful Vlogmas series this month! You should be proud of your red dress-very festive and not so revealing of your “mistakes”. (I think I’ve seen on other channels that people were challenged by this pattern’s bodice.) Not to worry! If you had not bravely pointed out the construction issues we would have never noticed in your festive reveal. Wear it proudly! Wishing you and yours a lovely Christmas and all good things in the new year!

    The dress looks stunning on you! That color suits you SO well. You were brave to use that fabric in the first place and I think it came out great. I love that you are embracing the "perfectly imperfect" aspect of your lovely little red dress - well done!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Congrats on a successful vlogmas 😊

      Thank you so much, Michelle! I am proud that I finished it mostly, but I don't think I will be sewing anything satin related for a while 😬 😂 Congrats to you as well for wonderful Vlogmas, I loved your favorite countdown idea! I am planning to catch up after Xmas and I am going to leave your #1 for a surprise! I can't wait to know what it its!!

    Your dress is just lovely! We are our own worst critics, no one would ever notice the tiny errors except you. I once made a beautiful quilt only to see later that an entire block pulled apart. Some good zigzagging and matching thread worked wonders. Thank you so much Katie for sharing this Vlogmas with us. It has been a joy to watch. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your husband!

      Merry Christmas, Donna!🎄 I appreciate you taking the time to watch & comment! Once I took the pictures, I barely even noticed the problems! I always notice so many little mistakes when sewing, but then once it's in my closet, it all disappears. Funny how that happens 🤔 😂

    Making buttonholes in that fabric must have been really difficult. What a patience you have. You can be very proud of the result. I’m a bit sad because my beloved cat is very sick and had to stay at the vet for treatment, hoping she will recover. My vet will treat her through xmas. So sad but she couldn’t be taken better care off. Happy Xmas and a happy new year. 新年快乐。

    The dress is beautiful and looks so good on you. The covered buttons were a perfect choice and one I hope to remember in the future. I think they really elevate the look of a garment. And your earrings are also perfect. So delicate and understated. If you had done the reveal and not pointed out what you considered to be problems, I would never have seen them. It’s what we all do though. I have had so many things that I’ve made and worn and received compliments on, and yet instead of saying “thank you” I immediately start to call attention to areas I consider less than perfect. Now that you have the pattern adjusted for an amazing fit, do you think you might make it again? Dresses seem to be extremely popular and I can see that one in a soft voile with a pretty slip under it in the spring. And it would be lovely in a georgette. That’s a favorite fabric of mine because I see it so much in ready to wear. But it can be a sister nightmare like your crepe back satin. Again, thanks for this month of really nice videos and inspiration. Hope you will be back with frequent content in the new year. I love your mix of kitchen and cat and craft. And now I’m off to find a recipe for mulled wine.

    • @WanderingBobbin
      @WanderingBobbin  3 года назад

      I do really like the pattern, so I think I will definitely make it again! Probably in a casual fabric, maybe a voile or lightweight cotton. It would be really nice in a rayon challis because of all the gathers too! Maybe in the summertime! I do that too-immediately point out what's wrong when I get a compliment! It's a bad habit! I like to point these things out on my video, because I think many times beginners watch RUclips videos and get the perception that everything people sew is perfect. But it's not! And that is part of sewing! And it's ok! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, I appreciate it. Happy sewing!

    Your dress is really pretty! I wonder if a little invisible hand stitching could fix the frayed part? Merry Christmas!

    Carol from Omaha:
    (Sorry for introducing myself each time but I don't feel comfortable for appearing that my husband is watching.)
    Your dress is beautiful AND beautiful on you. I love your description " perfectly imperfect" as that is a very good description of life. We can fully enjoy and appreciate the uniqueness of things that supposedly don't quite meet up to expectations. Thinking of your choosing an attractive pattern and a lovely fabric, adding precious time, developed skill, and trying something new (covered buttons) and voila a dress that never before existed is brought into "being".
    Have loved your vlogmases---all the interesting and entertaining content was very enjoyable.

    It’s beautiful! The covered buttons are perfect. I think a friend of mine that used similar fabric used gray check on all edges before she started sewing or she served all edges before she started. She made a blouse. It too has places that are not perfect. And like us all,we proudly wear our makes😊 I’ve been sewing for over 50 years and I still have makes that don’t come out perfect! I wear it🥰 unless it doesn’t fit which as happened😳

      Fray check or serging the edges probably would have been a good ideas for the edges...next time! I think it will be awhile before I sew with any kind satin again 😂 It was a great learning opportunity, if nothing else! Once the dress was done and I was taking pics of it, the problems all just melted away and it was like it didn't happen, so I will definitely wear my dress proudly. I put too much work into it not too! 😊
