Time stamps for the cards discussed would be HIGHLY appreciated! I'm watching these in several sittings, and half of my time is spent, finding where I left off.
The most powerful story I’ve heard involving Atemsis the all seeing involved quietly durdling, to get the lethal hand, then equipping Atemsis’ with Sorcerer’s wand. Atemsis says “deals damage” not combat damage specifically, so that means you could remove someone at instant speed
A friend of mine reguarly plays this commander, it is a deck with a lot of parts. Get a lot of cards in hand, big X spells with lots of artifact mana, get something to uncap your handsize while you're at it. The finings stroke usually comes when Atemsis has a way to deal non-combat damage, like you suggested, and a way to untap a bunch, like Pemmin's Aura. Then you can ping out the table in one turn.
nah Atemsis is crazy better than you guys made it out to be. It doesn't have to be combat damage. So auras like Hermetic Study or Psionic Gift work wonders. Youre in mono blue so untap effects make it even easier. The six different cmcs are kind of trivial as well thanks to blue cards and even a scroll rack will help you craft your hand as well. And when all else fails, just cast Enter the Infinite and reveal your whole deck as your hand lol
With faith bound judge you could have Ozolith and/or Nesting Grounds to move judgment counters from the front side to the backside. Or flash it in on end step, get one counter, proliferate, then play Sphinx of the Second Sun to get another upkeep.
Ozolith only works with creatures, and since the backside is an Aura you can’t animate it, but Nesting Grounds is definitely an option (especially paired with proliferate).
My Deck of Many Things story: I was playing against a control deck and was running it in a ramp shell. They had no creatures in the bin and I had an elf. I rolled the 20. I had to reanimate my elf. They killed it immediately and I lost.
I actually really like just seeing them over Crim's shoulder. Especially when Crim is all like misery is back on the menu we're going to make our opponents cry today and there's just a little corgi rolling around on the bed behind him
On the subject of cards that make you lose the game, I'd love a pod on Donate commanders and the jank cards to run in them. Maybe even a clash episode showcasing Zedruu, Beamtown Bullies etc. Could make for a fun Christmas episode
Atemsis is in my Atris Minigames deck, which has lots of Fact or Fiction effects and MDFC lands, including Sea Gate Restoration. I constantly have a full grip, so people fear the sphinx and they're right to do so.
Tomer is correct about Atemsis, just get no max hand size and you'll get there. I play it in my Unesh sphinx tribal deck and I often get the style kill on 1-2 players and thats in a deck that not only isn't built with a curve specifically for Atemsis in mind but is also deck filled with 4-7 drops because that's the cost of most sphinxes and I've never had a problem using ot as a finisher.
14:17 Okay, I'm sure I won't be the first one to point this out, BUT you don't need to do COMBAT damage with Atemsis, just any kind of damage!! So you can use an equipment like Sorcerer's Wand or Viridian Longbow which both say: Equipped creature has "Tap: This creature deals 1 damage to target player" to ping with Atemsis. You can also look into using an enchantment aura named Freed From the Real which has the activated ability of U: Untap enchanted creature. Then you can ping all 3 opponents at instant speed! It's gonna be a huge mana sink, and of course you still need a few cards in hand, but at least you won't have to wait multiple turns!
I have died to the sphinx at least 3 times. Eot mass bounce-> cast artemis-> either hold counterspells or if there is enough mana boots and attack for the kill. Those variations also had a bunch of spell recursion in case they need more time, mostly etb creature variants as they reset with bounce spells.
Atemsis isn’t combat damage. It’s any damage. Use one of the blue auras that when you draw a card deal a damage, or any equipment that gives tap do dmg.
I play Atemsis, All-Seeing in my Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir ramp deck with a very high curve. In that deck, it is EXTREMELY easy to kill people with Atemsis. I've had multiple games where I did nothing for the first four turns, cast my commander on turn 5, cast Atemsis on turn 6 at the end of the opponent's turn, and then attacked someone on my next turn and already had the mana values in my hand to kill them, without having to draw any extra cards. It's rare for the deck to need more than ten cards in hand to kill with Atemsis.
@44:15 there's actually two commander legal cards from Unfinity that let you modify a dice result! "Night Shift of the Living Dead" is an enchantment that lets you pay 1 life once a turn to add or subtract 1 from a die roll, and "Xenosquirrels" (Alien Squirrel type, for those interested), a creature that once per die roll lets you remove a +1/+1 counter from it to also change the result by 1.
Frodo is a really fun commander to build with a Lurrus companion. All the best staple Frodo permanents you need for evasion, card draw and Ring Tempts are all 2 cmc or less. Call of the Ring is the ultimate flavor card that not only card draws but also ramps you into your lethal state. Then you can also put in cheese infinite combos like Leonin Relic Warder, or blow out X spells like Exanguinate or Torment of Hellfire in case your main strategy is shut down.
Atemsis is the only one of these I've pulled off. In the 99 of a Sphinx deck, with 7 cards in hand. No shenanigans, but we're playing budget, and it only killed one player.
I've been playing Strixhaven Stadium in Derevi birds and it's pretty busted. With derevi you can untap the stadium with the triggers and kill somebody with just 4 birds+ derevi. I often just kill people as soon as I draw the stadium. Sometimes I can send a single pigeon at an enemy and the rest at another opponent and kill one player with damage and another with stadium. Two people with one stone.
I have an Atemsis Commander deck and its probably the equivalent of playing Exodia. I wouldnt run it in any deck but the hand manipulation strats are so fun. Also Atemsis can ping to kill
Out of all these I've seen Vraska's most often strangely. So many drafts in the format and she's such a "SCOOP IT UP" planeswalker in 95% of cases in the set.
My friend has an draw-heavy Azorius sphinx tribal with Atemsis in it. If he has like, 9 cards in hand, he often can get it to trigger. It's not as bad as you think
I have made someone lose with Atemsis before, it isn't that difficult. You just need to play Simic-ish ramp, which already has a large curve, and draw a lot of cards. Also, it isn't just combat damage that triggers the ability. You can give it Equipment that allows it to ping, and you never have to enter combat.
Lil flex: one of my fav decks is build around Door to Nothingness! It’s Garth+Jengatha companion, and I use untappers to untap Jengatha to get DTN mana! I’ve even pulled off full-table kills multiple times by copying the trigger using lithoform engine and Dynaheir. DTN is def hard, but when you build around it, it can be dangerous lol
For sinner’s judgement you could use goldberry to get a judgement counter, proliferate up to 3 and move it to the backside and win on your upkeep. Also puts you in extra turn colors
i've won several times with mirrodin besieged. i run it in my marchesa modular deck, so a lot og artifact graveyard shennanigans, and i only drop it right before my endstep to kill off the most threatening individual against me.
I think my favorite one of these is captive audience (though it technically only puts them to 4 life, so idk if it meets criteria). But the other effects it has always do something to further your game plan whether its giving you 5 zombies or making that opponent discard their hand, its really feels like a hybrid of a curse and saga. Other than that I like vorpal sword in any pinger/creatures that can burn deck, since it turns them into avatar of woe and pingers usually struggle to close a game after clearing the board.
Atemis is literally the easiest on the list. In the 99 and azami as the commander. Ive seen people constantly get it out on turn 4 and kill most of everyone turn 5. Clones work with the kill so clones that make it non legendary. Its a lot of deck building and manipulating the top of your library for the next card kinda deck
29:00 Vorpal Swords is sweet because it's great even if you're not activating the ability, which is 99% of the time. It's just a one mana equipment, that cost 2 to equip, and your opponents have to be very wary of it if you have 8 mana available, which again, you don't have to pay, you just have to attack before playing your spells. You put it on your worst attacker and it just became a taunting elf. Your opponent will make unfavorable blocks, and sometimes will shoot a boardwipe for your 1/1 if they know they can't block it the next turn. You rarely have to pay the 8 mana to see how it affects the board. It warps your opponent decision making so hard just by the threat of activation.
The Deck of Many Things is one of my favorite cards of all time- I play it in my Sefris deck and actually pulled off the kill in my first game I stuck it. Plus, the other two modes are fantastic!
True. It can only be blocked by 0 and 1 (or less) power. Which might be a bit rare, outside of tokens. I've been playing Dinos lately. And I never get to block any Ring-Bearers. 😂😂
Triskaidekaphile {1}{U} Creature - Human Wizard You have no maximum hand size. 3 blue 1colorless: draw At the beginning of your upkeep, if you have exactly thirteen cards in your hand, you win the game.
With atemsis the way to make it easier is runing the enchantment and that gives creatures t: deal one damage to any target. There is two of them. Since atemsis doesn't care about the damage being combat it makes it way easier to get people with.
Am a little surprised no-one's mentioned Surestrike Trident for Hidetsugu Consumes All / Vessel of the All-Consuming. It does solid work in my Simic Sea Monsters deck if it's allowed to stick around.
44:06 Night Shift of the Living Dead and Xenosquirrels from Unfinity both add to the roll but only by one. I think foretell also helps a whole lot in the empty hand issue. I think Richard is insane tho. Not letting you use advantage granters is like saying you can only get Door to Nothingness if you play ten lands in a row or that you can't proliferate Strixhaven Stadium or that you have to gain all the life for Angel of Destiny with its own ability. As long as it's not infinite and the power comes from the card in question, they're just support. Edit: But also Deck is just a good staple in my opinion.
My husband had a pretty nasty Atemsis deck, and having lost against it, it is definitely doable. I think he went the every card costing something different route, but also had the draw more route too. (Using past tense because it's no longer assembled, he tends to disassemble decks that are too strong for our play group)
I have a Baron Von Count deck which is very fun and plays some obscure cards, but is not very great. It's so hard to protect him when everyone thinks they could be the one to die to him.
I wanted to build Door typal anyway. Show them the Door! Amulet of Vigour helps not only with Door to Nothingness, but also with Gates, which OBV have to be the land base in door typal. What is a gate if not a glorified door.
Unless i forget something the biggest + on any planeswalker comes from a gideon, champion of justice: +1 get a loyality counter for each creature target opponent controls
You can use The Ozolith and animate Sinner's Judgement (with something like Starfield of Nyx) to win on the next upkeep. You can use Sphinx of the Second Sun to win on the same turn. Alternatively, you can double the triggers with stuff like Lithoform Engine or Strionic Resonator. Or double the counters with literally 100 different cards in green.
you can store the counters on faithful judge with resourceful defense and kill someone sooner than turn 2. It would cost 12 mana though and require resourceful defense to already be out when judge ltb.
My Phage tech is to use shapeshifters, including but not limited to Volrath's Shapeshifter. "Yeah, it's copying a 3/3 demon when it attacks. Whoops I discarded Phage!"
I wonder if Frodo would be good as a secret finisher in Kaalia. Her deck is all about protecting an attacking creature, and frequently getting extra combats.
Sinner's Judgement, you can run it with extra upkeeps. One of the Doctor's has it and you can get a white companion. Also, you can put it on yourself and Fractured Identity it.
I've got dragon God in my ravager deck. I typically get there with citadel combo. Dig through your deck then use brainstorm to stack a board wipe and then deep glow skate. Tada. One turn dragon God ult with everything dead
Yeah, I guess you can run Urborg/Coffers in a 5C if you feel like using top end tutoring spells to get out your mana lands? I'm very confident you can do better than Urborg/Coffers with access to Green, including getting access to Black mana. Strixhaven Stadium is an amazing card that people should run in decks that are already running lots of evasive weenies, and can expect to build up counters. I use it mostly to finish off the last opponent, but you can also just play it out in a deck that isn't threatening and people ignore it mostly. You can play it late of course, but you're playing with some really weird people if they go target you for having it out without having a board full of evasive weenies. I think you HAVE to use pillowfort effects with it, and/or punisher effects, I don't run this in a random deck, only in a deck that combines evasive weenies with lots of strong defensive effects with political aspects. You can use it a bit like a Craterhoof as Tomer points out, but you can only kill the one guy. I suspect Strix Stadium is actively bad in a Richard deck that expects to be ignored because it's board is full of bad creatures (that notably aren't evasive, like Spirited Companion), playing this when you've got a few bodies out can trigger bad players and not having any ways to protect yourself (if you run no interaction for example), but especially pillowfort and punisher stuff, if people think it's fun and easy to swing at you and you have a card out that can pull off the odd sneaky win you end up a target. Hidetsugu Consumes All is a terror in Modern, but it's not worth it's price in Commander I'd say, the effects are fine, but the 3/3 is a bad card in Commander. If it was only $1 or so I might run it in a Rakdos deck as a so-so card, it's so mediocre in Commander. I still use Helm of Obedience in my Zur cEDH deck, it's a 'target player loses' combo card, but I guess it's only a loss if you have your combo together. Mine was primarily RiP, the nice thing about this combo is that you can kill someone at instant speed with the Helm, but it's even better in Zur because next turn Zur can find either Copy Artifact or Mirrormade and you can take out the remaining two players, so once your combo is up, you can prevent another single player from winning in most cases, and obviously if nobody warranted removal you remove the last player before your turn during their upkeep. People don't interact much with abilities. I think I try to avoid 'remove a player' effects because they can be 'feels bad' plays, but maybe I'm looking at them wrong, they are great ways to get rid of the player at the table nobody wants to play with, like the guy who refuses to do politics and just plays super-greedy all the time.
with sinner's judgement, try pairing in mazzy, truesword paladin. She negates an aura from entering your graveyard so youcan cast itfor one turn. With her and sinner's judgement, you can easily chain and pick off afew players. Because killing one person is never enough!
There are at least 2 legal cards from Unfinity that add (or decrease) the number from one of your rolls. It's not enough to fully cheese the Deck of Many Things, but you can turn a 19 roll into a 20.
20:00 a really budget friendly way to build phage is with mutate creatures because they prevent you from losing the game if you mutate on her after casting her from the command zone
Now i want to build a sisay assasin deck with all those cards xD. Yes you may be able to tutor those cards but most times you also need alot of extra things
For the Trisk + Repay in Kind you could just drop to 1 life and then the upkeep trigger can do 'each player loses 1 life' so you don't have to deal with getting exactly 13 xD You're doing it wrong that way but it works.
I am surprised that Crim did not mention the Nicol Bolas, Dragon God + Jace, Cunning Castaway + Oath of Teferi combo. You draw most of your deck, remove all opposing permanents and hand, and make that many NBDG copies. Then, you win because they will ultimate over 2 turn cycles with no opposition.
Honestly, I think Atemsis would be a hilarious sneaky fit into Satoru Umezawa. You're in blue, you're sneaking wincons out through Satoru giving your hand ninjutsu, or you already don't care about the consistency of your curve. You're doing hand manipulation already. So you just ninjutsu Atem when you have 5 different MVs in hand, and the bounced card gives you six. And bam, player out of the game. It's like Satoru Blightsteel, with some extra steps.
I run Deck OMT in my Mr. House dice rolling deck, its usally a solid draw 2, but since its random ive also pitched 4 cards time and time again. Also theres a rat(?) That lets you add +1 to any die roll once per turn i think? I know theres at least one card in mardu that adds, but its REAL bad.
There are a few legal Unfinity cards that allow you to reroll, store results for later and swap, and add to rolls. I've been buying a lot of Unfinity boxes for cheap to build up my legal commander card pile.
I had atemsis in my maelstrom wanderer deck. I won several times with it. Just played a bunch of edric effects to draw cards before the damage trigger happened. Was it the best? No, i cut it. But it did work
The only time I’ve ever activated deck of many things I discarded my hand and somehow I still can’t wait for the next time I draw it. Also, I lost a game to Atemsis in a limited a draft of all places and I have to say it is my favorite loss
I did the "The deck of many things" win condition just one time in historic brawl and I totally forgot that it does that and my opp literally didn't know what thing happened to him 🤣
Strixhaven Stadium is easy to trigger. I have several token decks. I win often with it. You only need to do 30 damage to the table at minimum to win the game. It is ramp. If you are making a ton of blockers it is hard for people to attack to take the counters off. I have it as a win con in my Hazezon deserts, Darian, and Ghalta and Mavern decks.
Oh man, my Frodo deck does GREAT! It should also be said that there are a lot of wraths that kill everything other than 1 creature, or only spares low power creatures. This deck can be oppressive once your protections are out for Frodo.
14:16 Atemis, All-Seeing maybe if you hit someone and do something like Paradoxical Outcome to bounce all your stuff back to your hand for the different mana values. Oh Richard kinda mentioned what i said lol
Time stamps for the cards discussed would be HIGHLY appreciated!
I'm watching these in several sittings, and half of my time is spent, finding where I left off.

I think the flexiest one is Door to Nothingness. Show them the door.
I actually won a game of M13 sealed with Door to Nothingness. Was funny as hell. It was the only win I got that night, but it was worth it.
secret strat with Etrata is that you can respond to her shuffle trigger and either phase her out or bounce to hand and then she shuffles no more.
My Deck of Many Things story: I was playing against a control deck and was running it in a ramp shell. They had no creatures in the bin and I had an elf. I rolled the 20. I had to reanimate my elf. They killed it immediately and I lost.
Atemsis is way easier to trigger than the crew think, I used to play it in a Eligeth & Kydele, and it won me several games
Anyone else think Crim's pup deserves his own title square?
Or just replace crim in there.

Every "You Lose the Game" card can be a win con in the right deck
Only if you're up against uber fog decks... losing is far more preferable than playing that game

I enjoy when the tree & Trisk come together in my Mairsil deck. Pure jank, but I love it.
Strixhaven stadium is an all star in my Sun Quan deck! When all your janky blue creatures are unblockable it definitely helps close the game!
Lil flex: one of my fav decks is build around Door to Nothingness! It’s Garth+Jengatha companion, and I use untappers to untap Jengatha to get DTN mana! I won a game with atemsis during a pre release. Built it as a commander and won multiple times. Draw cards, play protection and win.
Agatha’s Soul Cauldron would be interesting to see considering the second effect of the card EXILES ALL GRAVEYARDS! Lmao
The Deck of Many Things is one of my favorite cards of all time- I play it in my Sefris deck and actually pulled off the kill in my first game I stuck it. Plus, the other two modes are fantastic!

Lazav , Phage is one of my go to wincons.
Bro this vid deserves more likes 700??? Give the crew some more love
Love new uploads during my dhift thanks gor the new content to lsiten to
Jank on jank on jank. I love it
Nico Bolas is easy to win with. I mostly dont like it, because it is toi easy. I mostly use his plus one
Is there a "win the game" card tier list? 🤔 I can't remember.
Using Fractured Identity on a curse you control? That will not do what you think it does.
Also got the victory with Vraska Golgari queen a few weeks ago. Was very cool
My idea for Atemsis is to play cycling cards. If the card in your hand does not meet the requirement, just cycle it for a new card
Night Shift of the Living Dead and Xenosquirrels would like to have a word with y'all about The Deck of Many Things. 😂
with sinner's judgement, try pairing in mazzy, truesword paladin. She negates an aura from entering your graveyard so youcan cast itfor one turn. With her and sinner's judgement, you can easily chain and pick off afew players. Because killing one person is never enough!
Richard writing off the Phage ETB ability, meanwhile Beamtown Bullies exists
There are at least 2 legal cards from Unfinity that add (or decrease) the number from one of your rolls. It's not enough to fully cheese the Deck of Many Things, but you can turn a 19 roll into a 20.
Fun fact, if you can somehow turn faithbound judge into a human, you can transform it with moonmist. Same for any double sided creature, actually
Sinners judgment. Use the ninth doctor for extra upkeeps!
20:00 a really budget friendly way to build phage is with mutate creatures because they prevent you from losing the game if you mutate on her after casting her from the command zone
That interaction hasn't been true for over a year after WOTC changed how mutate was tracked.
@@C00kiesAplenty unfortunate that flash mutate is no longer the way to make phage budget friendly
@@kingfuzzy2
I mean there is only a single flash mutate creature playable in Phage.
@@C00kiesAplenty vedalken orrery is under 4$ rn
Now i want to build a sisay assasin deck with all those cards xD.
Yes you may be able to tutor those cards but most times you also need alot of extra things
For the Trisk + Repay in Kind you could just drop to 1 life and then the upkeep trigger can do 'each player loses 1 life' so you don't have to deal with getting exactly 13 xD You're doing it wrong that way but it works.
I love using Phage in The Beamtown Bullies and stuff her in the Dermotaxi for the win.
Phage is my favorite card in all of magic, enough that I built a deck with her as the commander
But it did work
For once, I agree with Tomer. I have a Unesh sphinx tribal, and with blue’s draw, Atemsis is one of my easier win cons to pull off.
Everyone's response to strixhaven stadium tells you a lot about their playstyles.
Stadium in my Darien, King of Kjeldor deck is really good. 💪
The only time I’ve ever activated deck of many things I discarded my hand and somehow I still can’t wait for the next time I draw it. Also, I lost a game to Atemsis in a limited a draft of all places and I have to say it is my favorite loss
Night shift of the living dead and Xenosquirrel can alter dice rolls and are commander legal
I did the "The deck of many things" win condition just one time in historic brawl and I totally forgot that it does that and my opp literally didn't know what thing happened to him 🤣
I actually pulled off the Atemsis win in my sphinx tribal deck just last week😂
Strixhaven Stadium is easy to trigger. I have several token decks. I win often with it. You only need to do 30 damage to the table at minimum to win the game. It is ramp. If you are making a ton of blockers it is hard for people to attack to take the counters off. I have it as a win con in my Hazezon deserts, Darian, and Ghalta and Mavern decks.
Atemsis can be equipt with a ping ability like a viridin bow and do the dmg that way. It doesnt say combat dmg just dmg
Oh man, my Frodo deck does GREAT! It should also be said that there are a lot of wraths that kill everything other than 1 creature, or only spares low power creatures. This deck can be oppressive once your protections are out for Frodo.
I run Hidetsugu in my Snapdax commander deck. Powerhouse win con.
Split cards go a long way toward making Atemsis work. Problem is that's still nowhere near far enough to make it good.
Run The Sixth Doctor and Romana II with any of the historic permanents that end the game for one person and now youve got 3 copies of each.
I play Mirrodin Besieged in my Emry deck and have gotten so many wins out of it.
14:16 Atemis, All-Seeing maybe if you hit someone and do something like Paradoxical Outcome to bounce all your stuff back to your hand for the different mana values. Oh Richard kinda mentioned what i said lol
"Lose the game" kindred, anyone?😂
