I can keep making these proper phone reviews if you guys want. There are tons of phones I want to try now. I know the iPhone 15 Pro is out so thats one of them but there is the Pixel, the Oppo phones, One Plus, Nothing... I just wont be able to rock them for 6 months if I start reviewing so many phones but I can try to rock them for 2 months at a time!
@@nikkibaby111309That would still be horizontal, but he wants vertical app list just like stock app drawer. Goodlock can help but that too is not as good as stock app drawer.
Great video . Just got pixel 7 pro as a second phone . Main is iPhone 14 pro . Really starting to enjoy the pixel . Keep making these type of videos . Love them .
I switched from android to iOS and it has definitely made me lazy😂 it is actually simply about prestige and nothing else, people are set in their way, and think iMessage is the prestigious thing to show off. since whatsapp and other chatting apps, never made a dent in the market Ios always remains the go to.
What a lot of people miss about the whole Android experience especially with the galaxies is how in-depth the customization process really is. A lot of people do the surface level stuff and don't even realize the hundreds of semi hidden features throughout the phone
Yep. I switched to iphone 15 pro max and no customization is happening right here anymore 🤦♂️🤣 My previous huawei p30 pro had better user experience than iphone 🤔
The problem is that customization is enormous on Android, even too much for some people. But it's an advantage, you can have the same person but a different person's personality and that's good. Afterwards with Samsung we can have an ecosystem and he doesn't talk about it, he stays on smartphone vs smartphone
@@Giavva1311 you'd be surprised of how many people miss it lol the people you're talking about are probably tech savvy people and not just normal people having an android phone
FYI - The app drawer can be set to alphabetical and you can even setup folders within so you only have 1 page if you choose to (I do). Once you're in the app drawer, look for the 3 dots on the upper right hand side and choose either custom or alphabetical. In the alphabetical order, you can add folders and those are also done alphabetically.
Finally: an unbiased review! Fellow Apple fanboy here, who purchased a refurbished S21 Ultra a few years ago, to see what I was missing. I can completely relate to your experience. Sometimes the grass is refreshingly greener at the other side of the fence ;-) The customisability is just mind-blowing, I feel Apple keeps us at a very short leash, Android is years ahead of iOS.
How long did your S21 Ultra last before it got slow as molasses? Both Samsung phone's I've had lasted about a year before the keyboard got slow and apps started taking way too long to open.
After a little more than a decade in the iOS ecosystem ive switched to the Fold 5. Very refreshing and rocking it every single day now not wishing for the 15 Pro even after watching Keynote. Multitasking is what missing in the iPhone without realizing it. Cool video as always, subscribed and keep it coming
I went from the iphone 13 pro to the reg s23 , and even that phone was a night and day experience! It was so good that I complexly changed ecosystems! Complete change to samsung!
That's true. Even regular S23 is a beast and an all-rounder phone. It doesn't have that crazy 100x zoom of S23 ultra but it does everything that the other 99% Phone does. Whereas In Apple's iPhone pro series have most of the perks and non pro models don't even have high refresh rate...
I'm considering getting an android for the first time since 2012. Nervous but I feel like its gonna be a refreshing experience. Never been a heavy user so iPhone has always been great but maybe this will open new possibilities with the performance and customization battery life etc.
@@chickynuggies2739 that's actually a good thing mate. Go ahead try it and immerse yourself. At first you are giving to feel odd but after a few months it's going to be just fine
if all you do is basic stuff, both are pretty good. If you want basic stuff AND more advanced customization(at least), iOS is stricly worse than Android. There is a reason we call Apple products "idiots proof". You can't mess up in them, everything is quite there and working perfectly. Which is enough for most people if it wasn't so expensive.
I tried iPhone, have been using the 12 mini for 3 years. I’m switching back to android, I like how responsive is iOS, how software is more optimized and the long update cycle but It’s just way too limited for me.
Been an android user since the S3, i have the note 10 now but was think about switching over to the the 15 pro max. The fact that a Iphone does not have a back button is i think a deal breaker for me. How does Apple not have such a convenient feature on their phone is crazy to me.
Started using the gesture bar on my galaxy a54 three days ago and i dont know if i can go back. The three buttons are obviously a lot more comfortable and more responsive but the gesture bar is smooth and elegant looking.
Was with Apple since iPhone 4 and switched a couple months back to the s23 ultra. No regrets. I still have a MacBook and iPad but I plan to completely leave the ecosystem. I have a galaxy watch 6 and budspro 2. I love how Samsung all work together. It’s just like Apple but with much more control which I enjoy. Definitely recommend for ppl who need a smart phone with full capacity
and the best part is that even with the budspro 2 and galaxy watch, your next phone could be a google pixel or sony xperia and you'd still be able to use your earbuds and watch.
How good are the buds vs airpods? I was thinking of switching to galaxy next upgrade, but I’m worried of switching not knowing if the ease is the same using Samsungs products like apples.
@@tdrew337The samsung ecosystem is as good if not better than apple's and Im not joking. I went from having all Apple products (applewatch, macbook air, mac mini, airpods, etc) to an all samsung ecosystem (s23 ultra, galaxy watch 5, samsung buds 2 pro, samsung 4k pc display) with the added bonus that my range, microwave, fridge, tv and even my fucking air conditioner is samsung and can be controlled with my s pen like Im doing harey potter shit (no jokes, i can turn on/off and increase/ decrease my room's temperature by just moving my s pen like a magic wand). Believe me, you WONT regret the change, totally opposite, you will see how much of an upgrade it is
@@tdrew337 i really like the sound quality of the buds a bit more than the airpods! i also feel like theyre much more comfy! the case is also super nice cuz im a clutz and when i drop them the buds dont fall out as opposed to the airpods! theyre also more durable in general to me!
I'm Italian, and like most Italians, I started with (cheaper) Android devices. My first smartphone was the original Samsung S and from there I grew up with its successors. I've seen Android evolve with each update, and I can confidently say that with the S23 Ultra, Samsung has delivered a complete device in every way: performance, hardware, reliability, features, and more. Two years ago I switched to iOS with the 12 Pro. I encountered many challenges and limitations, but the system worked smoothly, without any lag, something that was missing from Samsung devices. However, this year with the S23 Ultra the problems I had before are no longer there. What I indicated on the iPhone is now no longer present; It has everything and works well. Both iPhone and Galaxy have their strengths and weaknesses, which make them attractive and enviable. So, to date, I don't have a favorite device, I bang my head in the choice... damn the day I decided to change
app drawer can be set to alphabetical order or you can even get rid of it altogether to have all apps on the home screen like iOS (you can also hide specific apps you don't want to be show yet they are still discoverable via search bar)
It's awesome to finally hear someone testing out the full potential of OneUI when talking about Samsung devices. That's something so many youtubers don't do snd then complain about missing features that they just didn't discover. Awesome work man.
Soon as you said you ditch the iPhone I was like yeeeessssss!!!!! Lol I did the same thing. My girlfriend has the 14pro and when I traded mine in I immediately felt that I was trapped in Apple's loop. The freedom of not being completely stuck in the Apple ecosystem is truly eye opening. I love my s23 ultra and can't wait for the 24 ultra with android 14
@jaysupa1882 I do photography as a hobby so I'll edit everything between my MacBook and iPad. So I'm not completely free from Apple but to compare the iPhone to S23 ultra is literally night and day. I've been with apple since the phone came out and back and forth between the two and Android just wasn't giving me what I was looking for. Now apple is so late to everything and you're so limited to what you can do that's when I was curious with the s23. Soon as I started playing with the Samsung I absolutely loved it and really hated apple 😂. I tease my girl like damn your phone can't do this and that. It's crazy to see the difference and to really make the phone yours
@jaysupa1882 focus on getting things set up "comfortably" on the phone, (setting up your daily use apps) then explore whatever you want! if something mildly inconveniences you, theres probably a solution for it, if you have an idea for how your homescreen, lockscreen, anything, could be prettier/more useful, that idea probably exists!, theres some basics you can and should probably try, such as RUclips ReVanced, which integrates adblock, sponsorblock etc, (allowing you to except great channels such as this one), system-based adblock with Blokada, EMULATION!!!!! if you care about games, almost ANY nintendo game runs on the S23U, (I've been playing Hades) and anything else you can really ever ponder. I set something up last night to turn my pc on and off from the quick settings panel (swipe down panel)
This video describes my exact experience when I made the switch back when the Z Flip was released. I was DONE with the lack of innovation from Apple. Now I’m on a S23U and I still think I made the best choice of my mobile life. Thanks for sharing 🔥
I switched from s22 to a 14 pro two months ago and man do I miss android. It was just so much more intuitive and the swipe gestures were miles better. And the lack of fingerprint scanner is something I couldn't get used to. I will switch back when the s24 comes out.
Yes android swipe gesture is so good, however because its not their native setting it could have some animation bug, i have s22 and have some slightly annoying bug when texting and then go to menu, i think its adaptive refresh rate problem
Similar story, my s21's cameras stopped working after being exposed to rain and I got so annoyed that instead of getting it repaired I switched to 13 pro as it was about 2yr old anyway. But after few months somehow cameras started working again and I switched back to it to see if I miss something about iphone. I didn't. I actually enjoyed being able to customise my phone back again. Now I'm still using that s21, 3 years old but still going strong. Only thing iphone does better is video stabilization, that too because I got the pro and paid almost double than what I paid for my s21.
@@lok6314 There's a stabilizer in google photos app which pretty much takes care of that. But there's nothing on iphone that can take care of things that I found missing from samsung. It's good at stabilization but worse at pretty much everything else (for me ofc).
Thank you, Andres for the unbiased and unpaid review. Most mainstream reviewers nowadays like this boss guy and mk something who used to be Android users seem like paid Apple advertisers nowadays. You are a breath of fresh air! Thank you so much.
Recently I switched from iPhone to Samsung Z Fold. It is an eye opening experience indeed. I still tinker with the device everyday and still there are so many things to discover. I am completely into apple ecosystem but honestly I don't feel that pull, even the Apple Music app works great on my Fold. One UI is great and polished. I was planning to buy 15 pro max but I don't see the point of buying it cause it won't feel any different from the last iPhone. BTW Samsung Labs is great too. I still love my iPad and MBP but I don't see the point of using iPhone anymore at least for now.
Me too iphone too boring for me,I can't go back to an iPhone always too little too late with features ,apple basically owns your phone after you purchase it ,samsung let's you own your phone ,do whatever you want on your device
lol eye opening. Just to include this in the video title mean he just want a fanboy war in the comment section. Its so pretentious cant believe people still take the bait on this.
No more FaceTime, iMessage that works with your other Apple devices, being able to have all your notes, calendars, contact book, notifications, preferences, across all devices. There are so many features you are giving up to tinker with an Android. You’ll be back.
I recently moved from the iPhone 14 Pro to the Galaxy S23 Ultra.. I felt at that time that I was previously living in the year 1900 and now in the year 2024. It is a different and wonderful experience.
I also own this phone. To solve the scraches issue, what I did was I put a protective silicone film on top of the Gorilla glass. It works like a charm and protects it from scraches which are expected since glass is glass and it will scratch at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7.
I also switched from being an apple fanboy to an android enthusiast last year, I changed my mind as soon as I started to understand the hardware of phones and actually seeing the more advanced features android has. I switched as soon as my iPhone started having unsolvable issues with charging to a poco f3 (it's a 300€ xiaomi phone) and it felt so much better, I really appreciated the freedom of use, the speed of charging and the multitasking it offers. Currently I prefer my cheap Xiaomi over every iPhone existing because the charging speed and the multitasking are still unmatched out of the android world
Respect. I've owned both. But I take a little time to actually make my phone a completely unique *art piece.* And I'm not the artsy guy. But having a stately setup is important to me. When people need to see something on my phone, I want it to reflect me. Not some ubiquitous phone that looks like a children's toy.
Never knew how much of a difference watching RUclips and other stuff in 1440p rather than 1080p on my iphone. Everything just pops. Was shocked to see how Android has improved over the years since I switched to iOS. Just like you after a few weeks, im too deep into Android to switch back. TBH, it's better not to switch back to ios
I have been using iphones since iphone 4 and now have 14 pro.. Seriously thinking to switch to S23 Ultra. The only thing keeping me from doing it is my other apple products and the apple ecosystem. Some day hopefully. Thanks for the video bro :)
Lol go for it. I have the macbook pro, iPad, Mac mini , and the s23 ultra. Once I switched I didn't look back. I can still do everything I need to do between my laptop and iPad while having the freedom and power to do whatever I want with my phone
For anyone who have stuck to a single platform for a long time, I suggest at taking a leap to the other side of the garden (even if its just for a short stint) at least once - you’ll never know which suits your needs or preferences more unless you try. I myself completely migrated to iOS after being an Android loyalist for 8 years after trying out an iPhone for first time for work but the opposite may be true for a lot of folks.
I've had a mac for years and after trying out an Android tablet for a year decided to go back to iPad. I've been working between the 2 and have loved the integration so much that I'm getting and iPhone 15 to see how that feels! It's the first time I will have used an iPhone since the 5S! I've honestly found I don't use alot of the special stuff Android has and many of the features they share I have found easier to use on my iPad over the Android tablet. Not that they're difficult to use just that the way they're setup is more convenient that using them is more top of mind and more quickly accessible I find. Android and iOS both definitely have their pros and cons and I look forward to seeing how the other side is these days!
I’ve been back and forth and I’m firmly planted on iOS now. Can’t see anything drawing me back to android at this point. But yeah, trying both is a good thing. Helps you understand the pros and cons and you’re able to speak from experience when someone challenges your choice of platform.
I have been an Android user since 2010, but I am very familiar with iOS. I used to work for a national carrier. I also have an iPad and have an iPhone as my work phone. Now that I've been using iOS regularly, I can safely say that my experience with it has been awful. The UI is clunky and is not intuitive. Yes, you can do more with Android, but it's also just simpler to do day to day tasks.
@@avenuePad Android is easier. What? Apple has an entire ecosystem, android is just a phone and some shtty tablets. No integration with laptops or computers, tons of things it can’t do that are actually useful. Not changing useless features and tinkering with things endlessly. Apple is solid. Android is like Windows. Meh.
11:14 I am blown away by thier ability to zoom this far and capturing the color of that person's shirt,i mean how did it know that guy is wearing blue😮
Very awesome unbiased review! The s23 ultra is a jewel! I got my I phone 14 pro max when it first rolled out last year, but after so long with I phone and seeing the quality of android vastly improve over time am tempted to make the switch.
So glad u enjoyed it knowing how tough it was from the beginning for you. I also like the fact that u were willing to watch video and learn so many new things about Samsung, one ui and Good Lock. You did great. We samsung fan boys are proud of you 😅👏❤️
Honestly one of the best videos i have personally ever seen in my life about the android experience and Samsung's One UI,i have had Android my entire life at this point, and might switch to IOS in the Future just to see what it is like and mainly because they Finally added USB-C to the mix
appletip: dont use cable 1) buy any magsafe stand or gopro mount and glue magsafe to it 2) buy smart electric socket 3) set up automatization shortcuts on iPhone for me it turns socket on: - if battery drops below 60% - when I get home - if battery drops below 5% (as failsafe) When to turn it off: - when I leave home - when battery is at 80% - when battery is at 100% also set it up so you wont have to be on same wifi to run shortcuts on ur smart home - for example use Homepod mini as hub device. The only thing you have to do is to put ur iPhone on magsafe (if u position it nicely with faceID you dont even have to touch your phone to unlock it to read new msgs) and then you will simply stop worrying about charging or what port is on your phone. My iPhone 13 mini is virgin and I have never put cable in it. I am pretty sure you can do the same with android. iPhone 15 has some feature that in setting you can set that battery will stop charging at 80%. I am not sure how it works if you want to charge your battery to 100%. Imho my way is better but bit expensive.
The level of immersion with your videos *chef kiss*. From the other phone reviews I've watched, your approach is definitely preferred (immersion into HW/SW) and something that lacking these days. To answer your question, using the S23U, my biggest draw is literally as you stated - customization of the features + multitasking. If I find something I dont like, just tweak and move on.
Apple fanboy here. To be honest, my behaviour is weird. I’m the kind of person who usually jumps at every opportunity to modify the ecosystem. Still, everytime I’ve used an Android, I’ve felt so uncomfortable that I just don’t have any urge to switch. I know I should. And after watching this video, I still don’t.
What a fantastic review (and amazing production)! I've been in the iOS world for years, then in Android (well, OneUI) for years, and recently tried to go back to iOS but couldn't do it. I gave up after just less than a month - for reasons you've outlined (and a few others). I truly love the OneUI experience and while I really enjoyed my S22U, using the Fold 5 has been an amazing experience. I still use an iPhone at times but will probably never leave the Android world. (I've subbed to your channel based on a Tweet [or Xeet? what the crap do we call them?] and I'm glad I found your channel; keep up the great work!)
Great long term review 💯 I've always used Samsung and Apple devices, but mostly Samsung. And I will suggest that you try the whole Galaxy ecosystem next year when you get the S24 Ultra... I think you will enjoy it. It's a very good and capable ecosystem. There are a lot of things that you should learn (like setting the app drawer in alphabetical order, etc.)
Thanks for the great re-cap of your experience. I have never had I-phone and never will. I have had several Android phones and love my Ultra 23. I was very excited when you reviewed this phone and I learned a lot about making it better. I worked hard to use the stylist and I noticed you didn't even mention it. Once you learn about all the features you'll be back. No complaints. Waiting for 24. Thanks again for another great video!
You probably should give Apple a go. I did after years with Samsung and the difference is massive. 2 of my Samsung phones died after getting slow and buggy, fading screens, green lines across the screen etc. 2 of my daughter's Samsung phones died, most recently a few days ago her 17 month old Flip 3 the screen just stopped functioning fully, only half the screen works. She hates Apple for privacy reasons and will try Pixel next. I'm sticking with Apple until it breaks, which feels like it'll never happen. I guess that's why Apple hold their value for many yrs while Samsung you can't give away after 3 yrs? You say you've had several android phones - well I'm not surprised, they don't seem to last long. That's probably ok if your idea is to update every 2 yrs or so. I want a rock solid device that just works brilliantly all the time and forever, and my iphone 13 pro max is the best phone I've ever had by miles. I thought I may update to 14 and 15, but the 13 is so good there's no point. Hopefully it'll start slowing down next yr and I can upgrade to 16.
This is best switching to android video I've seen. Also kudos to you for doing it for 6 months instead of the "long term" 2 week review other reviewers do.
Being in Europe, I switched a few times from an iPhone to Android (Asus Zenfone 9) and didn't really feel the lack of iMessage as it's not that used here. I think AirDrop is the most annoying to lose but as you said I enjoy a lot more other Android possibilities such as having a proper file system, sideloading, Android Auto, etc. But I'd say iOS still has advantages, at the end of the day it's personnal preference. In my opinion someone who does a lot with tech and isn't too deep into the Apple ecosystem can switch pretty easily and discover new things, it's worth the try!
Tech youtubers and Apple make people believe switching is difficult. I use both an iPhone and an Android everyday with a Windows 💻. I don’t have any issue. It works ✅.
Exactly. When we talk about customization, we're not just talking about video lock screens and icon packs. We're talking about settings to basically control your entire phone.
I really miss the customizations moving to apple but Samsung can suck it with their few years of updates. I'm on my note 9 as I wait for the iPhone 15. Also if you buy unlocked us variants you can't typically flash any custom rooms which was one of the biggest selling points on android, at least for me. And I can't stand carrier locked phones. So I'm instantly fucked because of it.
Since 2014 I was using Samsung mid range phones and the experience is quite good, 2-3 years per phone, I use it 24/7 then i switched to iphone 13 pro max because I wanna try and all the hype made me purchase it, it was good and a beast phone. However, I realized that I am more of an android phone especially when I tested S23 ultra on the store, right off the bat, I knew that was the right phone for me. i was thinking of switching to android again. Apple’s ecosystem is amazing but I think it all comes down to preferences.
I am an apple fan boy but I recently switched from 14 pro max to the s23 ultra and I must say it has been an eye opening experience. Things I like about this phone are - 1. Superfast charging 2. Cameras 3.Display. 4. Customisability.
Thank you for sharing a genuine experience. As a long time apple fan I keep reaching for Samsungs and trying them out. I had some of the original galaxy’s and then stuck with iPhones since the 5. I think the gap between the two is how good apple was at the time was significant. However, since the iPhone 11 I think things have gotten very stale. Not only stale but even more expensive. I feel like your return on new features and experiences with apple is so little for how much they are asking. They have been in the lead for so long yet take zero chances or introduce new features that are ground breaking. At least for example, Samsungs 200x zoom even with some magic to take a moon photo. Come on, among one of the coolest things to see and it was still done safely as in, no one would use it and hate having 200x. Apple could have pioneered that. They still haven’t even been kind enough to put colored pixels in front of the camera like Samsung does on the note. Every iPhone for the past 3 years has been almost the same. Same choices, same features more or less, higher price, still 60hz screens on $900 phones and 128gb of storage. I like the consistency of the apple experience and the ease of linking everything together. It does help they have their own OS. But it’s been so many years of boring. The latest thing, pushing your fingers together on the Apple Watch. Only to find out you could already do with accessibility. This is the apple we got right now. I think they need someone else or new teams to revitalize the life into their products. The M1 jump in theirs Pc’s are great but, other than that all they got is a giant notch for no reason, no Face ID, and still for how dirt cheap memory is, it costs you $200 to add more just like the hard drives still in 2023, coming on base models as 256GB. At the end of the day their boring stuff works, sounds great, has great battery life, great support. I can complain all day but they have a winning formula even if it’s not the best. And I truly hope to move off their devices for a while until they bring back some actual innovations. Not $3500 headsets for the rich.
the smartphone world is nothing but a milking cow for them. I mean//if they want..like really want... they can give us 10000mah battery life and 1tb memory or more.. But yeah..noone will upgrade anymore after buying that i assume. so they keep pumping little dumb improvements for 500% the price who the fck needs 200mp cameras...whats next 500mp camera? so i can shoot the pores on someone face? They know demn well what the consumer wants battery life and memory and lower price
finally a dude doing a REAL SWITCH TEST seriously, this video is very well filmed, you describe your experience VERY NICELY I love it, very nice content seriously you went so deep into the ecosystem and into the android system and samsung system, like wow thanks for this
Yes like gorilla 3 is better in scratch resistant but it shatters quickly and vice versa for gorilla 5..... In my POV It's better to have shatter resistance because youre gonna use tempered glass anyway and a case .....
OMG dude are you that committed?????? I’m currently using my 14PM and starting to lose faith in Apple, I’m doing the switch to the S24U when it comes out…..
Great perspective and information. I switched to iOS couple of years ago and to this day, I miss the accuracy of swipe to text I was used to on 1Plus and other Android phones. I also miss some of the apps that are not available for iOS. I have contemplated moving back to Android and your video gives me great hope. Thank you.
at this point the deciding factor is your preference when it comes to the operating system, you can't go wrong with either the S23 Ultra or the iPhone Pro Max.
Does the Samsung integrate with my MacBook Pro, my iPads, my Apple Watch? Can I have the same contact list on all devices? Can I have the same files shared across devices? Can I receive and send texts from my computer? Can I pick up a FaceTime on my iPhone and then seamlessly transfer to my MacBook Pro without ending the call? Can I sync notifications, calendars, etc., across all my devices? Ok then.
I've been using iphones for over 4 years. just switched from iphone 13 pro max to s23 ultra. after using it for like 2 days I realized how outdated it makes the iphone feels. Everything i try, gaming, productivity, multimedia, the s23 ultra just does everything much much better. also it has features that I never even thought was possible with a smartphone.
@@deepakbisht4957 there are lots. The S pen itself is an awesome thing. Then the level of customization. And many more. Also It does everything that my iphone does and it does it in a much better way.
You really proved a point here and the point is, "you don't really appreciate something until you use it or experience it firsthand" that's what I've been telling my iPhone user friends who are like "we don't care about wether android has more features or whatever iPhone is just better" I tell them just try i won't argue if you try it and keep your opinion.(I used to be an iPhone user)
Yes people should try both. I left Samsung for iphone pro max 13 and can't see myself going back until I have a bad experience with the iphone. I've had 4 Samsung phones that died on me and suffered lagging performance. I can't believe how much less stressful and reliable the iphone is - flawless performance, runs like brand new 2 yrs later. I can see myself hanging onto it for a few more yrs if it fails to degrade.
Me from Android to Iphone, first time, nice phone but wait how do I go back? where are the gestures, why I have to press up right then up left then on the bottom? what is this.. and I sold it asap.
As a long time and user of every galaxy note and now s23 ultra I can say you did a good job reviewing this unit and I can appreciate the extensive research you did to properly review this unit my only request is that you do the same for the s pen it is an underrated tool and no youtuber has dedicated time to display or describe its usefulness.... so what do ya think?
i really don't switch. i use both so i could enjoy both worlds. And using both, you can really see the difference between the 2 phones. Samsung S23 ultra really is a beast of a phone. i can literally use it as my handy PC with samsung dex and the multi tasking ability is so cool. whats cool with iphone though is case support. Apple has a wide variety of cases supporting particularly threaded portable camera lenses. That's what samsung lacks. Hopefully oem companies will make cases that support threaded lenses from ulanzi or other companies. Nice video man.
I also switched from the iPhone XS max to the S23 ultra earlier this year. The camera experience is so much nicer, with more options and ways to shoot photos thanks to the wide variety of lenses. The 120Hz edge to edge display is amazing, great for watching content and feels very smooth. I find the small camera cutout much easier to ignore than the notch or dynamic island, this is one of the main reasons why I didn't feel like getting an iPhone 14 Pro. There's many other things I love about Android, it definitely gives the user more control vs iOS which feels like a walled garden. My only complaint would be like you mentioned, app optimization is better on iOS. Overall, I'm very happy with my decision to switch, and I think more people who are used to only getting iPhones should try it out!
So you went from a phone that is like 5 generations old and you had a better experience with the new Samsung. Ok. Good luck with useless features you’ll never really use while losing the actual usability and ease of iOS and its ecosystem.
At last , someone who gets it , this is a breath of fresh air , it's so nice to see someone dig deep into the android system and realise how flexible this system is , great video 👊
I am glad you took time off to enjoy One UI. For me, the reason why I can not leave Android/One UI is that I know it inside out, and the monthly updates make it better and better. ❤
My name is Benjamin, I'm from Mozambique, I've been subscribed to the channel for a long time, I've been an Android fan for a long time, and I recently bought an iPhone 7 just to get a feel for the iOS system, I thought it would be difficult but on the same day I realized it and I liked it , it's a top cell phone, but it also has its complications, for those who are used to using Android like me, this is going to be a great experience
I have the 13PM and the S23U. You mentioned you may be trying out the Pixel 8. Just a heads up, the difference between One UI and the native Pixel OS is not completely the same. I've owned the Pixel 6 Pro and the 7 Pro. The OS's have quite a bit of a difference in terms of ability to change almost everything on ONE UI. First time watching your content. Good job, and keep up the good work 👍🏻
Pixel is for enthusiasts who don't want a crazy performance but a simple phone with good software whereas S23 ultra is for power users who want everything in a Phone..
You can easily switch the app drawer to alphabetical order!!! I just traded my iPhone 14 Pro Max for the Z Fold 5 and I love it. So much more you can do on this phone. It's extremely tempting to order the 15 Pro Max though. I had to leave my Apple Watch Ultra in the transition and that's been the hardest part. I picked up the Samsung Watch 6 Classic but it doesn't even come close to the Apple Watch Ultra.
I'm feeling the exact same pain. I'm kind of stuck and don't know what to do whether I should keep my AWU and use it separately from my Fold or go back to iPhone.
@Lee-dr2im In my opinion the design, layout and straps are all better. The capabilities and smoothness of the AWU are unmatched and the action button is a huge addition. The battery life is amazing and the speakers are much better for phone calls. I work outside and the past year I've had the AWU have been huge! I also prefer the crown over the rotating bezel
This is also one of my concerns. I don’t like the iPhone 15 pro max, nothing worth switching from 13 pro max. I want to use z fold 5 but the Samsung watch is I am not sure about. Apple Watch has been awesome for years. I am one of the early adopters and have kept with it.
You can alphabetize the app draw on Samsungs UI. All in all, I feel like you did an awesome job explaining the differences of the two worlds, IOS and Android. I have an s22 ultra for my personal phone and an iPhone 12 for my work phone. There are some days that apple seems to have the upper hand, but in most cases, I wish my work would consider switching to Android based devices.
I came across your video as I want to purchase S23 ultra (youtube's algorithm). The video and explanation is great no doubt for it. I want to appreciate for the movie filter you kept through out and the way you edited the video. Also your tech setup is super sexy!
Great video! My last Samsung was a galaxy 6. Yes, the 6. I’ve been with Apple for a number of years mainly due to the fact that most of my immediate family is within that IOS group, but I’ve missed Samsung Galaxy and the android group for years. Especially the camera! iPhone cameras are rubbish. I’ve been contemplating for some time to jump back into Samsung by getting the 23 Ultra. Especially since paying off my iPhone. I just need to make certain my pics, important messages are transferred into a safe location outside of iCloud. I would rather not pay for something I rarely use. Your video was detailed and answered many of the questions I had and honestly didn’t think about prior to watching your video.
Incredibly awesome video! I also got the S23 Ultra, I recommend you to try it with different devices as Tab S8 Ultra and Galaxy book 360/3 ultra. This will give you a pretty cool experience to the ecosystem where you can extend pc screens and so on. For the Apple AirTags you have Samsung Tags as a competitor. S Pen is also practical. 😊 Looking forward to see your videos ❤
Thanks for sharing your experience with the S23 Ultra after switching from iPhone. It's great to hear about your positive Android experience, especially the customization and camera features. Your insights on battery life, display, and camera are helpful.
Just liked and subscribed. I'm a long term iphone girl but in March I was gifted a fold 4 (used both). I'm now sending both away and have just purchased a s23U, will be weird having a samsung as my only device and I'll miss some things : facetime, imessage and the typing experience. All in all I think the s23U is the best there is and - the learning curve commences.
Love my 23 Ultra. I did the exact opposite of you a while back...ran an iPhail for however long their return period is. I was not sad to return it. At all.
Are you talking about Iphones? Because I've dropped all my Samsung phones I ever had and nothing ever cracked, full on concrete, sand, pebbles, the shower floor, in water🤣
I have never owned an Apple device, been on the Android train for years. My experiences with Android have been different, which also has to do with switching brands a lot. I'm now on my second Pixel phone and I love the way all the features it provides, it feels...cohesive and thoughtful. The standout for me is the camera; the hardware is less powerful than that of Samsung, but what it lacks there it more than makes up for in AI processing power. One pet peeve that I still don't get is why I can't select a different ringtone based on the sim card, instead of based on my contacts. Samsung could do that, feels like Google should too on their own phones for Pete's sake... 😉
Incredible video! So in depth and honest opinions. Well done! Very helpful! This helps me lean towards Samsung (again) and specifically Ultra (despite not wanting a bigger phone) because of the better/best cameras and screen real estate in general. Thank you for sharing this video with us! 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great video, I have been tempted to switch to an android phone for years just to see how it is on the other side as I m sure there is pros and cons like with the iPhones. I had multiple blackberry phones and then switched to iPhone since the first one and always was curious to make my own opinion on android because we cannot trust reviews fully. It’s kinda like video games some people will hate a video game and I found myself loving it at the end all is subjective to us. So I really appreciate that video. Sadly I m so stuck in apple ecosystem. Maybe one day I will say F*** it and try an android but for now… waiting for my 15 pro to arrive.
I was deep in the ecosystem but took the plunge starting from the Samsung S10. Each year Samsung gets better and better and iPhone is starting to slack off on their R&D and not really come up with anything really "new". Each year I LOOK for enough reasons to switch back, but have yet to find enough. I am happily loving my Samsung. Looking forward to the S24 Ultra. My Samsung is a beast of a machine and really doesn't have any lag. It handles anything you throw at it. So many more features on Android and you aren't in the Apple prison with very few customization options or choices. I can use whatever app I want as my default app. Never liked the native iPhone "maps."
I was an android guy. And used windows computers. I was curious about iPhones. I switched from a Note to an iPhone and absolutely loved it. Then I ditched my Samsung tablet for an iPad, and it blew me away. Finally, I got an iMac and was absolutely in love with Apple. The only thing I miss is being able to run custom launchers. I was heavily in to customization on Android. I used to jailbreak and customize my iPhones, but many of the features are now available on stock iOS.
I was an android user when I was in high school. I got my first iphone in college. It’s been 13 years since I’ve been an apple user. In that time I only bought 3 iphones. The 6 plus, the XS, and more recently the 14 pro max. They all do the job of a phone well. But android has really stepped up their game since I became an apple user. There are many more options on the market and the line between a high end phone and a budget phone has blurred in the android world. Samsung has removed a lot of their bloatware and I wish they removed even more. But they’re moving in the right direction. My next phone will more than likely be an android.
@@boejiden7093 from what I hear, if you want the pure android experience minus the bloat, go with a Pixel. However, I’m not into the Pixel hardware. I’m fully into the Apple ecosystem, but I very much appreciate Samsung’s hardware. If I was to ever try another Android, it would definitely be a 23 ultra or the equivalent. My last Note was a Note 4. I absolutely loved it and I had the most amazing custom UI. I’m mostly a hardware guy though, and to me, the sexiest hardware is Apple
@@CRASS2047 i’m fully in the apple ecosystem too. It all started with the 6 plus. Then ipad, then macbook and the rest is history. But i’ve grown too dependent on apple’s ecosystem. I definitely want to break out because the iphones just don’t excite me anymore. It works really well and is a great phone. But thats about it. The s23 ultra has so many more features that would be useful for my everyday. I attend a lot of meetings and taking notes with the s pen would be perfect. I sign a lot of documents on the go and the s23 is perfect for that. If apple had an offering like the s23 ultra, i’d pounce on it instantly.
Tried to switch to the s22u. Really nice phone. Awesome features but I’m so baked in to the Apple ecosystem system that switching really isn’t an option for me. That being said, if Apple implemented true multi tasking and provided more functional customization options we’d really be on to something.
I was switching multiple times between samsung and apple. But since some years there are midrange phones for like 400-700$ where you have to pay atleast 800 or even 1000$ to get a "good" iphone and the storage pricing from apple is just ridiculous. Since the Iphone 10 i think there was no great innovation anymore or just a slow implementation of these. Iphone has its up sides ofc but i dont want to have any device like PC and tablet on IOS too. i like it way more to have different manufacturers and stuff is still working well together. Atm i got a S20 FE 5g for 600$ and it has a 4500 mah battery, 120hz, good cam, is fast and efficient (battery lasts the same like a 14 plus) plus it can have a SD card. To find a iphone that is near its hardware you have to pay like 800-950$ . This is kinda strange since they are like even in much tasks. Iphone doesent even have fast charging and also had still 60hz.
@@greateminemfan a mid tier phone is a mid tier phone no matter the brand. You can get a good enough iPhone for cheaper than flagship pricing. A top of the line Samsung will run you just as much as an iPhone if not more. I’m not sure why ppl think that overpriced tech is exclusive to Apple. Sure you’ll get more for your money but you’re still way overpaying in almost every case.
Solid reviews, you are giving me an encouragement to upgrade my Galaxy S22+ to the S23 Ultra. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 on the Galaxy S22+ is very bad in my experience, it really wastes so much battery and made me have to charge it twice a day. I compared the iPhone 15+ with the S23 Ultra, because the current prices are not much different, but your review gives me the urge to choose the Galaxy S23 Ultra instead of 15+. Once again, thanks mate 😄
Great review and video. I use the Galaxy S23 and love it. Great smaller phone (which are hard to find). Now that you've dove into the Android OS, you should start to explore different launchers. It will completely change your home screen, app drawer, and daily functions. I use Nova Launcher (prime) and it is seemingly endless what you can customize and create.
The only thing that I'm missing since switching is the airtags because I loose my keys on the daily, but Samsung just came out with its Smart tags so I'm good to go!
The switch from iPhone to android was as you said, "eye opening". I felt like I was out of a prison, I can do so much more with my phone now. Using the pixel right now and I am never going back to iPhone.
I have a 15 pro max personal phone and a S23 Ultra for my work phone. They are both great phones. For me it’s the Apple ecosystem that i cant leave behind. Apple nailed how fluid and intuitive it is. The AirPod Pros, iPad Pro and Apple Watch Ultra are also superior to their android counterparts. How Apple has using the iPhone hand-in-hand with those devices makes it very attractive for its users to stay in the ecosystem. Also, Apple Pay is superior to the competition. On a hardware level the S23 ultra is an amazing phone though. Not to the extent of android, but a lot of the customizability features are now in iOS. Anyway, great video!!
You're right about the apple pay thing. I use Google pay and lost my wallet a few months ago and had to rely on Google pay. Google pay worked everywhere apple pay was accepted but I would always have to ask if they accepted apple pay because most of the time the merchants didn't know or acted like they didn't know what Google pay (gpay) was
Been using the fold 2 for 3 years now. I just love the huge display but thinking about going S23 ultra or s24 ultra because it is ''annoying'' that I always feel like I need to open the phone up to really use it. I maybe use the outer display 5% to look at notification but I always open it manually to answer/look at the notification.
I am a life long android user and I love both iPhone and android. I watch the keynotes and releases of both, my preference is just android. I am fascinated with falling down the rabbit hole of customizations, different and quirky apps to try and use. We all win as both platforms evolve and borrow from one another.
I'm a musician and have been a Samsung/Google ecosystem user for my smartphone and home accessories for the better part of a decade now. The only Apple product I have is my MacBook Pro. My biggest problem with the android ecosystem is the music/audio/video production softwares available on Apple products (not just Logic/iMovie/etc.) are not available to Android users, and they are FAR superior to anything available on Android. I agree with all the points you had on your experience as to why it's a more complete and fulfilling experience, but my above point alone heavily temps me to switch ecosystems!
Would love to watch your impressions about OnePlus, Pixel and the Nothing!
Yeah makes sense you'll be 50 years old by the time you get through everything😂😂
If you go Into the app draw and pess the 3 dot vertical line at the top right you can sort out the apps to alphabetical order

it is actually simply about prestige and nothing else, people are set in their way, and think iMessage is the prestigious thing to show off. since whatsapp and other chatting apps, never made a dent in the market Ios always remains the go to.
Exactly. I literally have converted most friends and family to Telegram. I'm not paying 99¢ per sticker pack when I see what they have to offer 😂
I’m trying to get my girlfriend to understand this. I switched to iPhone 2 yrs ago and I miss Android more and more everyday
What a lot of people miss about the whole Android experience especially with the galaxies is how in-depth the customization process really is. A lot of people do the surface level stuff and don't even realize the hundreds of semi hidden features throughout the phone
Literally. Instead of having to open the settings app.
Yep. I switched to iphone 15 pro max and no customization is happening right here anymore 🤦♂️🤣
My previous huawei p30 pro had better user experience than iphone 🤔
The problem is that customization is enormous on Android, even too much for some people. But it's an advantage, you can have the same person but a different person's personality and that's good. Afterwards with Samsung we can have an ecosystem and he doesn't talk about it, he stays on smartphone vs smartphone
Absolutely noone misses the aspect of Android’s customisation features. It’s one of the only things that people ever talk about.
Just 4 touch away from changing to custom to alphabetic.I wish at least he google the issue a little bit first before making the statement.
This should be on the top
Also I recommend the Nova Launcher app which is superior to the default launcher and has a ton of features.
@@Mindphaser1 Nova launcher isn't optimized for foldable phones.
@pkpnyt4711 this video is about the S23 Ultra which is not a foldable phone so your comment has no relevance.

Android and OneUi are way more complete than iOS. Samsung needs to a better marketing and also we need non biased reviewers.
After a little more than a decade in the iOS ecosystem ive switched to the Fold 5. Very refreshing and rocking it every single day now not wishing for the 15 Pro even after watching Keynote. I'm switching from Samsung to iOS for the first time since the iPhone 6s.
I've had folds, I've had ultras. Time for a change.
I would never downgrade to Samsung
I went from the iphone 13 pro to the reg s23 , and even that phone was a night and day experience! It was so good that I complexly changed ecosystems! Complete change to samsung!
True s23 reg I real love it
Hey me too, same switch! I love the phone, feels faster and more intelligent.
True s23 is monster....and think of ecosystem what samsung provides TV, Refrigerator everything they make in electronic world literally

As someone who has used both, you come to appreciate both phones. I wish more people were so closed-minded and gave change a try. It goes both ways.
You mean open minded right?
How does Apple not have such a convenient feature on their phone is crazy to me.
you can start training that, you can activate gestures in android settings.. back is a simple swipe from the left side
I think you should give it a try. I use both ios and android. Both have cons and pros. It is good to experience
Started using the gesture bar on my galaxy a54 three days ago and i dont know if i can go back. The three buttons are obviously a lot more comfortable and more responsive but the gesture bar is smooth and elegant looking.

I was planning to buy 15 pro max but I don't see the point of buying it cause it won't feel any different from the last iPhone. BTW Samsung Labs is great too. I still love my iPad and MBP but I don't see the point of using iPhone anymore at least for now.

And the Poco cornes with a fast charger in the box!

S23 Ultra is fantastic no matter what
For anyone who have stuck to a single platform for a long time, I suggest at taking a leap to the other side of the garden (even if its just for a short stint) at least once - you’ll never know which suits your needs or preferences more unless you try.
I feel like i am too much of an android power user but for anyone who doesn't fully customize how their phone functions either is great.
Meh.

We samsung fan boys are proud of you 😅👏❤️
This video is so well written and the hooks and editing are brilliant. Well done. A great piece of work
Honestly one of the best videos i have personally ever seen in my life about the android experience and Samsung's One UI,i have had Android my entire life at this point, and might switch to IOS in the Future just to see what it is like and mainly because they Finally added USB-C to the mix
appletip: dont use cable
1) buy any magsafe stand or gopro mount and glue magsafe to it
2) buy smart electric socket
3) set up automatization shortcuts on iPhone
for me it turns socket on:
- if battery drops below 60%
- when I get home
- if battery drops below 5% (as failsafe)
When to turn it off:
- when I leave home
- when battery is at 80%
- when battery is at 100%
also set it up so you wont have to be on same wifi to run shortcuts on ur smart home - for example use Homepod mini as hub device.
Xeet lol! Worst rebranding ever! Elon is a very silly man
Here in the US we have multiple phone stores that can fix your phone same day that's certified by Samsung
bruuuuh thats CLUTCH
Android actually have Nearby Share, it's just not as familiar as Airdrop
Then again, quick share or nearby share are just as amazing to use. Just need someone with another samsung
@@farlyblitzkriegactually works great and it's compatible with windows as well, you just need to download a quickshare client to the pc

@@iAfroTechwhich tech RUclipsr you watching lol, you have to change your bubble
Things I like about this phone are -
1. Superfast charging
2. Cameras
3.Display.
4. Customisability.
Planning to do this too, but im scared since I've read some blogs about samsung screens. 😢
But yeah..noone will upgrade anymore after buying that i assume.
so they keep pumping little dumb improvements for 500% the price
who the fck needs 200mp cameras...whats next 500mp camera? so i can shoot the pores on someone face?
They know demn well what the consumer wants
battery life and memory and lower price

The more shatter resistant they make the glass, the less scratch resistant it is.
Finally, someone gets it!! It's one or the other! With Sapphire, it's super scratch-resistant but it's more shatter prone.
Yes like gorilla 3 is better in scratch resistant but it shatters quickly and vice versa for gorilla 5.....
In my POV It's better to have shatter resistance because youre gonna use tempered glass anyway and a case .....

I also miss some of the apps that are not available for iOS. I have contemplated moving back to Android and your video gives me great hope. Thank you.
Totally agree with you re: swipe texting accuracy. It's efficiency compared to Android is WAY OFF. So frustrating!

Ok then.

I can see myself hanging onto it for a few more yrs if it fails to degrade.

i really don't switch. i use both so i could enjoy both worlds.
Is s23 ultra a little too big for pocket?
@@acemenace7710 depends on your size boss..
Dude this video rules, looks beautiful and felt really well structured. Appreciate your perspective on this.
you gotta make a desk setup guide. I love how your desk looks lol

For me, the reason why I can not leave Android/One UI is that I know it inside out, and the monthly updates make it better and better. ❤
Monthly update? Why, bad software? My 1+5T never updated, almost 5 years now, works fine. But 8T forced update now its slower.

Could you tell me why the samsung watch can't come close to the apple watch? Thank you
I'm feeling the exact same pain.
@@NateBurnss I see. Thank you for that info.
There are some days that apple seems to have the upper hand, but in most cases, I wish my work would consider switching to Android based devices.

At all.

The fact that there are people who are willing to risk paying $500 just to get a better feel instead of using screen protector and case baffles me
I like to raw dog my phone as well
Are you talking about Iphones? Because I've dropped all my Samsung phones I ever had and nothing ever cracked, full on concrete, sand, pebbles, the shower floor, in water🤣
@bellyrubs Nah, I only raw dog Samsungs.
I am using the S23 Ultra over 6 months now and this phone is just the best, and the camera is awesome!
That would go against apple controlling the whole experience. That day would never come.
Apple doesnt want you to customize.. theyre gimmick is "user friendly" not in depth customization like samsung
Apple will add another 500$ saying now iPhone is customisable and overall price will be more than 2k
The way you balanced the colors in the video kind of makes you look like an oompa loompa which is a pretty cool effect.
Using the pixel right now and I am never going back to iPhone.
thank you so much, i'll change to Samsung next year for the first time and I'm very excited!!
man the video quality you provide .subed you
I have a 15 pro max personal phone and a S23 Ultra for my work phone.
I strongly recommend Z Fold 4 and 5. Screen size ratio dramatically changed since Fold 4.
WE ANDROID PEOPLE DEMAND SOCIAL MEDIA COMPANIES TO OPTIMIZE THEIR APPS PROPERLY. it just not fair 🤷
I use both iPhone 15 pro max and galaxy s23 ultra … they both have their pros and cons but once you have both it makes you love both platforms
Best comment, peoble doesnt realized that because 90 percent of them are fanboys of multimillion Dollar brands.
I am a life long android user and I love both iPhone and android. I watch the keynotes and releases of both, my preference is just android. I am fascinated with falling down the rabbit hole of customizations, different and quirky apps to try and use. We all win as both platforms evolve and borrow from one another.
Stop addressing it as an android instead of Samsung its Samsung eco system, not android. Android is an operating system
Man, I'm already 45 seconds on the video and made me wanna sub+like, great approach 👍
lol you just nailed it bro... perfect review of android for all the apple fansss around who are still stuck in the 80's tech... :)
About a year ago switched from iPhone 12pro max to s22ultra and I 100% agree with you andriod is a breath of air it's amazing in so many ways
