You all might find the Traditional Chinese Sword League interesting, yearly beginners & open full contact swordplay tournaments in America & Europe using full weight wooden weapons (no plastic swords). The next open will be October 2, 2010 in Washington, DC.
It depends on whether you can understand the essence & principles behind the movement or not. Sometimes the movement may be flowery, but it's the lessons behind it that's important.

I heard that master Cheng learned these techniques from his teacher who gained them from a Japanese Shinkage-ryu sword scroll. Is this accurate?
