Hi Marie, I grew up with my Grandma making this roast for Sunday dinner….brings back such precious memories! My son in law is a big guy from Ireland, a former rugby player that would love this roast! Thanks for the reminder! 💕
Hi Pam! Love this story! Sunday is a great day for a slow cooked pot roast! Oh I can so imagine your son in law loving this one! How special 😊 Hugs, Marie
This looks so good and delicious! What a way to honor your mom. Congratulations on 100,000! I see a lot of cooks that are unfortunately at a million subscribers and they aren’t near your caliber as a cook and a person! You’re amazingly sweet and such a joy to watch! ❤❤❤
Hi Becky! Thank you so much for watching and for the kind note ❤️ I really appreciate the encouragement … maybe someday I will get to a million too! Big hugs, Marie
Hi Joan! This is so great to hear, thank you 😊 I really appreciate the positive feedback! Thank you for watching and for taking time to leave such a sweet note ❤️, Marie
I’m from San Antonio also so how great to find your channel. Thought I’d share : I make my pot roast like yours but when I don’t use the wine I started adding a small can of green chili peppers. It really gives the roast a bit of “San Antonio, “ flavors but not the heat . Just wanted to share. I’m 76 & my hubs is 78 & you have taught us so much about pie making. Natural teacher!
This recipe looks so good Marie! I usually make my pot roast in a crockpot for 6 hours or so but your suggestion of oven baking and noodles sounds great too. I do braise it on both sides as you did but keep my carrots/celery/potatoes mostly whole. What a great fall meal and save some for Coco Puff..
Hi Sue! Coco puff definitely had some nice treats from this meal 😊 I’ll have to try this in the crockpot - it’s been a while since I’ve used it! Thanks so much for watching and taking time to leave a note ❤️, Marie
My mom also made delicious pot roast suppers, usually on Sundays. She put potatoes in hers. It is definitely a favorite memory for me too. Comfort food! Thank you sharing your mom’s version.
Ooh...first to comment! :) have a great week, Marie!! Our friend has offered us an Elk roast so I will use that for this recipe. I've never had Elk but he said it's less gamey than Venison or Moose...which we enjoy both.
Hi! Yay! Thanks for the note! Hope you have a great week, too! Today I’m working on a really fun technique for a chocolate tart … can’t wait to share it! ❤️, Marie
I have been craving a pot roast lately and now that the weather is cooler (November) THIS recipe will be my choice! I am retired and always eat healthy by doing ALL my own cooking (never fast food). I just recently found your site and subscribed immediately... thank you so much!
Hi Marie!! I use Bota Box wines as well. They have a great flavor, and I believe they have won some awards even! I love the flavor. Love your channel. It's fun to see someone who is in TX as well. Have a great week, looking forward your next video! Blessings!
My Mom always used rump roast for her pot roast, I do too. I’m going to try your recipe because it looks amazing! I’ve never put mushrooms in my pot roast, but I’m definitely going to do that. Thank you so much for this recipe! I’m a newcomer to your channel and I’m looking forward to more videos.
Hi Cathy! Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here 😊 Thanks for the tip on rump roast! I’m excited for you to try the recipe with the mushrooms - keep me posted! Big hugs, Marie
Thanks for the suggestion! I do like the oven on a cold Saturday when I have all the time in the world to just let it roast away … but slow cooker would be helpful during the week! Thanks again, Marie
Hi Lisa! I know what you mean 😊 I love the variation of texture and color from the oven. But slow cookers and instant pot are nice in a pinch! Hugs, Marie
Love the recipe and will definitely try it when we get cool weather or will use my crock pot. As I live in Texas also; I try not to use my oven in the summer. For me summer is toaster oven/air fryer only. Love your recipes, watching always leaves me hungry.
Hi Marie, I chanced upon your videos a week ago and I am addicted to them! You are a gem! Love this pot roast recipe. Is it possible to make this in instant pot after browning the meat? If yes, how do we do it?
Oh my goodness! Those of us stuck on a low sodium diet are living a life of misery, that’s all I can say! I try to adjust different recipes that I see and make it low salt, but I wouldn’t even attempt this delicious meal minus salt, so I’m up a creek again! 😢 Great recipe though Marie for the rest of the gang!👍🏼
Hi Kimberly! The brand is CeraStone and I actually borrowed it from my dad so I’m not sure where he got it and I don’t have any details about it unfortunately 😬 Sorry about that. When I google it, it comes up as available in Canada? There are lots of other good Dutch ovens though! Let me know if you need help finding one. Hugs, Marie
Good morning I so glad I seeing you.on again i live in Tennessee we had bad floods power been out for over week i thank God back on praying our water be on soon to lot bridges have collapse like for awhile felt like stuck on island couldn't go anywhere. some bridges open now lot people lost home and barns so many people still missing . Looks delicious hope you have wonderful weekend
Hi Robin! Sorry about that- had to run get the kids from school 🤪 I’ll have it up this evening. Thanks for watching and also for your patience. It’s just me running the whole channel so often a little behind 😘 Hugs, Marie
@@marieskitchen I have lots of patience and I admire you for all of your hard work on top of taking care of your family. It’s too hot to leave the oven on for four hours anyway so I have another couple of weeks before I can make your recipe. It sounds delicious, pretty much the way I make mine and my mom made hers (of course because it’s her recipe😄) lately I sear it like you do in my Ninja crockpot and just cook it in there all day on low. I’ve never put mushrooms in it before but I love them so I will try that for sure!
I've been making my roasts in my Instant Pot for a couple of years now & they're good but this video reminded me that nothing beats a good old fashioned pot roast from the oven. Thanks 😊
Hi Joann! It’s 13 inches across and about 3 1/2 inches deep. It’s a unique size. I wish I had a link for you but I think my dad found this one on discount at Homegoods. Thanks for watching, Marie

Awe I wish your mom could see how you’ve grown on your channel ! I’m sure she’s looking down and how proud she must be of you !!
Hi Cindy! Thanks for watching and for your note 🥰 I miss her everyday. Thank you for your kind, encouraging words. Big hugs, Marie

In a slow cooker it will turned out very tender to, and you don't have to use the oven, thats my thoughts ! thanks for sharing !

I use a rump roast. Chuck roast such as you used is not a cut readily available here.

I always add some butter in with the oil….

I lightly flour my meat before searing it. Seems to add a little something to it.

I must be old because I do pretty much all that you do but I never measure, I just eyeball it.
Eyeballing is great! Some people prefer measurements though, so I include those as well 😊 Tryin to please everybody lol
No Rosemary please
Hi Cathy! Sounds good! Thanks for watching ❤️, Marie
You need the fat if you want the taste!
Good point!
I noticed you didn't use potato's, is there a reason for that?
