** Plot
After taking part in a teleport malfunction, letting aliens from a planet called Xen into the Black Mesa research facility, Dr. Gordon Freeman escapes and is coerced into working for an unscrupulous government agent known only as the G Man. Placed into stasis by the G Man, Dr. Freeeman awakens on a train heading for a massive European city known only as City 17. An alien empire called the Combine watches over an army of human minions that occupy Earth and enslave its populace, devouring its resources. And sitting within the massive fortress called the Citadel that controls the oppression is none other than Gordon Freeman's old administrator, Dr. Wallace Breen. Uniting with his old acquaintances from the Black Mesa research facility, Dr. Freeman finds himself the one free man of Earth with the fate of humanity resting on his shoulders.

The thing I love about the citadel is that its cold and sterile, and everything inside is practical and has a functional purpose, and yet its still an amazing work of art.
I love how you get a grand tour of the interior, howd they come up with all these great ideas?
Valve knows how to service its audience with a proper saturation of story, environment and immersion.

Wow, Freeman managed all that despite having not slept in three days and without having eaten or drank anything in around twenty years (unless he's been sipping some of that grimy water in which he's been swimming), all with a Ph.D. in theoretical physics and no combat training. What a trooper.

Well he was frozen for those 20 years. And it was only 2 days (start day, Ravenholm night, prison-war day). He was frozen teleported for a week, so there's that

I realise I was in the minority, but I was disappointed by HL2 when I played it back in '04. Having watched this Longplay through from start to finish and having thoroughly enjoyed it I feel HL2 makes a better film than game! Thanks for posting and changing my opinion of HL2.
