** Plot
The game's events take place immediately after those in Half-Life 2, in and around war-torn City 17. Episode One follows scientist Gordon Freeman and his companion Alyx Vance as they fight in humanity's continuing struggle against the transhuman race known as the Combine. When the story begins, Gordon wakes up outside the enemy's base of operations, the Citadel, after being left unconscious from the concluding events of Half-Life 2. During the course of the game, Gordon travels with Alyx as they attempt to evacuate the city.

Alyx can be a little corny, but she makes up for it by being genuinely useful. She converts rollermines, opens gates, has infinite ammo, shoots what you shine light on, even snipes for you. And you don't have to worry about holding her hand or protecting her! Best companion ever.
I'm sure Gordon is still with her.

I didnt play both episode one and two because I dont buy expansion pack back then. The story is still good. I watched the end of the longplay and boy it keeps me going for more. Keep up the good work.
I was unable to play this game but you let me watch it like a movie. I'm a real fan of the Half-Life Saga, so a big thank to "JonL" ! (and "Cubex55" for putting it on youtube).
Wish I could use the gravity gun to move my furniture :/

@Porly62 I always do my best to hide the little interruptions, but the Source engine's HDR makes it difficult. At some points you can still notice sudden light variations. One example can be seen at 02:24:44

@hudsonvalleyguy313 Nobody forces you to watch that long. If you don't want, then I guess longplays are just not for you. And you COULD watch bits of it at a time, after all this is youtube and not some one time only show. =)
As for the duration - You have to contact youtube and get them to let you have much longer than standard videos. I am not sure what exactly is required to be allowed to have 2h+ long videos on your channel but I guess someone here will know.

But that is just episode 2, team fortress 2 and portal
RPGs have different endings based on your decision , other games have fixed endings . I hate ME 3 ending and EA but comparing that to FPS doesn't make sense . Not every game needs to be same , different devs have different ways to tell the story , like them for different reasons .

No the episodes are kinda like expansion packs or dlc. They use the same mechanics but are completely new story and level design wise. They're as good as half life 2 and definitely worth playing. I've only played half life 2 and episode 1 but I'm going to play episode 2 soon. They're also cannon and completely necessary for the full half life story.
