    I ate a lot of dandelion as a kid. My mother didn't have very much money, but she looked after myself and my brother very well. We would go hunting for 'lawn salad'. It had things like dandelion, purple clover flowers, and other bits and pieces we found. It's a fond memory from my childhood.

      @user-bq1vm4xe2h hi! sorry for the late reply. all you need to do is put some on a pan and keep rolling them around until the color has darkened and they're fragrant. it's kind of like roasting nuts, but when you're roasting dandelion roots, DONT use any oil. just plain in the pan and you'll get the nice toasty flavor in the tea.

    • @Nik-kz5gp
      @Nik-kz5gp Год назад +5

      @user-bq1vm4xe2h also you can toast a larger batch and store it for later so you don't have to toast a tiny bit everytime you want a cup. hope this helps, and enjoy!

      This reply was posted a year ago, so I doubt you will read this, but heres some things I always keep a lookout for;
      -red clovers, flowers and leaves are edible, they have a pinkish-red flower. Dont confuse with white clovers which have a toxic white flower.
      -hairy bittercress, stems, leaves, and seeds are edible. In the spring, when you touch the seed pods the seeds will shoot out of them. They taste a bit like peppers.
      -rose hips, you can eat them raw if you take the hairs out, or you can make a jam, bread, etc
      -wild strawberries, they have a yellow flower, mock strawberries (which have a white flower) are also edible but taste slightly worse
      -wild onions, their leaves feel more like a succulent then grass, and smell like onions, the bulbs and leaves are edible. Dont confuse with death camas.
      -pine needles and pine cones, you can make a tea with pine needles or a jam with pine cones, just make sure you know what species is in your area cause some are poisonous
