I ate a lot of dandelion as a kid. My mother didn't have very much money, but she looked after myself and my brother very well. We would go hunting for 'lawn salad'. It had things like dandelion, purple clover flowers, and other bits and pieces we found. It's a fond memory from my childhood.
Ohh! Thank you for sharing this 💖 It was probably better for your body than some of the processed foods that they have now! I bet you also have a strong immune system!
Your mother seems to be a sweet woman. bless her
Thats a fun, wonderful idea! My son is only a baby but I will do this with him when he grows. Thanks for sharing!
The Little purple “clovers” that taste a bit sour are actually wood sorrel I found that out a bit ago and thought it was interesting and it seems not many people know that
@@wafflelife6028 sorrel is such a tasty plant. Adds a nice lemony element to salads, it's one of my favourites for sure
if you toast the roots, it tastes like a mix between coffee and chocolate. absolutely amazing.
Oh wow nice! Thanks for this tip Nik! I'll have to give it a go!!
Sounds keto too,I’m in!☺️👍🏻⛲️🎉🌎
@user-bq1vm4xe2h hi! sorry for the late reply. all you need to do is put some on a pan and keep rolling them around until the color has darkened and they're fragrant. it's kind of like roasting nuts, but when you're roasting dandelion roots, DONT use any oil. just plain in the pan and you'll get the nice toasty flavor in the tea.
@user-bq1vm4xe2h also you can toast a larger batch and store it for later so you don't have to toast a tiny bit everytime you want a cup. hope this helps, and enjoy!
In the oven? How and how long?
Flower petals - tea leaves , jams/ ‘honey’ and fritters , wine/ mead , cake decorations , salad , infused oil , cough syrups
Stem and leaves - smoothies, pestos, salad, soups , sauteed greens , stir fry
Root - coffee ( cook until burnt looking gives the best flavour more cooked stronger the taste) , coco powder
Small buds not opened up - pickle capers
If you don’t want to eat it - soaps, salves, lip balms
Good for the liver and gallbladder, sickness, kidneys , can reduce belly fat and good for ANXIETY full of vitamins a/c/k and magnesium and great for dry skin🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌞🌞🌞 the wonder flower
Awesome!! Thanks for all that info!! 😄🌳💖
My family makes risotto with the petals, stir fry the leaves like spinach and even make the "pickle capers". Thank you for the other suggestions, I'll try something ❤
Thank you! Not all heroes wear capes
Bless u for sharing your dandelion knowledge.
You mean that you make soap out of dandelion too?
I steam the young dandelion leaves (greens) or saute the young greens in oil with garlic and add a bit of lemon juice and salt. Very healthy.
Oooh nice thats a neat idea!
That’s how my mother always cooked them &now I do
Dry out the roots put them in a coffee grinder, & make coffee. It's surprisingly good
I will try that this year!
I used the milk from the stem to treat my kids warts they would get on their fingers growing up.. I heard these flowers are good for the heart and liver.. Found out not long ago the round up the weed killing company are part of a pharmaceutical company that produce heart meds.
Hi Hayley! Oh wow nice! That's a great tip for warts!
I didn't know this home remedy for warts, thanks!
Yes I am starting to see all the links;)
You should look up what drugs Bayer(they own RoundUp weedkiller) owns and produces. From make up chemicals to heroin to aspirin. Also RoundUp was recently found to be carcinogenic.. god only knows what they’re up too.
Just beware that dandelion is a diuretic and don’t consume too much right before bed. The French call it “pissenlit” for a reason!
Great advice! Thank you for sharing 😊😂
The Scottish call them “pee the beds “
All jokes aside, isnt the French name "dent de lion"? "Dandelion" is a French loanword
@@MSKofAlexandria
That’s the one that got borrowed into English, but apparently not the one the French currently use themselves.
😂yes it does!!
I love how you say flowers.
It's the best ❤
Flowhers! 😄
@@notionbonsai it still the the best. I say it too..... well, American xD
Your accent is lovely. I want you to narrate my life. Also I didn’t know you could make tea from dandelions, I’ll have to try that
Aw thank you Nikki! Just make sure it's from a clean and pesticide free area ✨️😄
I like that. I sometime tease Adam about his accent ( “putting the tree into a new pat”, “chapping some dandelion root” ) but the truth is we love accents, and the Irish lilt is one of the nicest.
@@TheBonsaiGarden it’s like musical speaking. From Dublin to Derry, I melt at the Irish accents. (Except the thick Kerry ones I don’t understand 😝)
Also - try make the tea on 55-60 celsius. Youll keep more of the good stuff in it. Thats the warmth you would prefer when you drink it anyway 👍
Thanks for the tip!
My family is from Sicily and sautéed dandelions using garlic, salt, and a few red pepper flakes, and EVOO was always a popular side dish at meal time in our home.
Excellent diversification in the content mate. Keep on top of it, really loving everything you're posting ❤️
Thanks very much Tom! 😊
Your videos are so lovely and calming :)
🤗
Dandelion greens are so good.
You are absolutely right!!
Where did you get the tea pot from ? Good Info
And you are led to believe that the dandelion plant is a pesky weed, when in reality it is a wonderful plant with amazing health benefits. Love dandelion
Thank you. Where do I find the teapot?
does it lead to ginger hair?
If you pick these yellow dandelion flowers in your yard what exactly should you wash them in before you boil them?
CAN,T WAIT TO DO THIS!! ❤️❤️❤️
How much do you need to make a cup of the tea ?
What a beautiful presenter, a bit of topic I do realize ☺️
Hey thank you so much Gee! 😊
Question: can I dry them and put them away for later or do the flowers have to be put in a tea immediately? Will it keep it's taste?
Yes you can! They are best air-dried 🙂
@@notionbonsai Thank you, I heat dried it. But all the petals turned white - just like the dandelion looks in later season. Not sure if that's supposed to happen.
Is the stem good for anything? Also can I chop up the roots, and then just boil them into tea right away? I’m thinking putting some orange juice and lemon juice for a hint of citrus
The flowers have the highest amount of antioxidants. But yes it's all good 👍🤟✌️😊
Drying and toasting the roots can make a lovely "coffee." Boil them for 5 - 10 minutes or more. Add milk and sugar. YUM.
Best way to use these invasive species
I live in between the 2 houses that use pesticides to kill weeds. I never used any chemical on my lawn. I wonder if my dandelions grow on my side is safe to eat
Love dandelion tea!!
🤗
You can add lemon and honey
Yes for sure!
I've always wanted to learn how to forage and what to use wild plants for, dandelion seems like a perfect start! thank you~
Aw awesome! Good luck on your foraging Journey!
This reply was posted a year ago, so I doubt you will read this, but heres some things I always keep a lookout for;
-red clovers, flowers and leaves are edible, they have a pinkish-red flower. Dont confuse with white clovers which have a toxic white flower.
-hairy bittercress, stems, leaves, and seeds are edible. In the spring, when you touch the seed pods the seeds will shoot out of them. They taste a bit like peppers.
-rose hips, you can eat them raw if you take the hairs out, or you can make a jam, bread, etc
-wild strawberries, they have a yellow flower, mock strawberries (which have a white flower) are also edible but taste slightly worse
-wild onions, their leaves feel more like a succulent then grass, and smell like onions, the bulbs and leaves are edible. Dont confuse with death camas.
-pine needles and pine cones, you can make a tea with pine needles or a jam with pine cones, just make sure you know what species is in your area cause some are poisonous
Dandelion is curing many people of cancer. These little flowers are truly a gift from God
Shhhhhh, don't let the pharmaceutical companies hear you 😉
Shhhhh, don't let the "Jesus isnt real" bots hear you 😉
thank you so much!
😊😊
I ate this one too, but I will try this tea too.
Ah nice Victoria! 🙂
Excellent for heart health ❤
How so how u take
Today, I learned that dandelions are fleers and not weeds
😂😂😂
I bursted out laughing when I read this
How many did you use and how many glasses did you get?
Your so cool, love it Adam
Have you ever tried it Andy? 😊
@@notionbonsai no, but I’m going to now dude 👍👍👍
Woow ,that's interesting, would love to try this weekend... How does it taste ?!!
Make sure it's from a clean and pesticide free place! ✨️ It tastes nice! You can also sweeten with honey to your taste.. or even add green tea or dried hibiscus to make it even better 😄
looks good
Can you make a video on how to make dandilion coffee?
In Greece (other places too) we use mostly the green leaves. Boil them like spinach and eat them like a slad with salt and lemon olive oil. They are bitter and help you sleep better/reduce stomach acid. They make you feel cleansed and refreshed
Yes!In Albania we do the same.I love them😊.
@@GabrielaQepi Where in Albania? Is it only close to the sea or also middle and north? I wonder if it is people living in warm seaside places that know this
@@Mg00Christine I am from south, near to the sea but I think Dandelion is everywhere in Albania as I have seen people from different parts of the country cooking it.😊
Please good sir. I live tea. Green tea, hibiscus tea, dandelion, nettle so know that I mean it when I say I need to know where you got that kettle from
Its so delicious ❤❤❤
🤗
Should you wash the dandelions before hand or no??
I wash them yeah 🙂
Great content man! 👍
Thanks Rise!
I can see it helps to grow hair as well

You can add it to a salad or even fry it and make some salted greens 😄

Mercy that accent :)
Wild.
Why the hell do we remove these from lawns?
I hear dandelion is Bnifet 4 health. Specialy for cancer patients.👍❤
Side note, make sure they’re not picked from a yard that has pesticides and chemical fertilizers in it
@@Keithstrand2 great side note!
It’s mind boggling that not many people know this. We’ve only been doing this as humans for thousands of years.
🙂🌸
Thank you! I'm sure your awesome hair is the result of your eating style.
Wait isn’t that plant the most hated here in the US? Now I’m confused 😕
They’d rather sell it back to you in a half assed pull form, no one is to be trusted in America, docs or dentists
I found the root never gives up it's dirt.
'the flurrers'

Wow
