😃!! Thank you for the great video and all the kind words Splat (and from so many of you here in the comments). We're hyped to get this game out there for everyone who loves games with this kind of depth and breadth of options. Lots more content to come, and for sure lots of quality-of-life improvements like the menu rolling out in EA. You know us; the update train is just getting started! Thank you for being such a long-time part of our journey.
@ That's us! Star Traders is one of our favorite series. Very excited about the possibilities of a new Star Traders game at some point incorporating all the new skills we've used developing Cyber Knights.
For anyone wondering why he mentions harebrained schemes in the title It’s because Paradox layed off a significant portion of the staff at Harebrained during the summer, with an unconfirmed report listing it as high as 80% of the staff
Indeed, Lamplighters League was a huge commercial failure and big economic loss for Paradox. For that game specifically, I dont really know what they were going for but it looks so boring and uninspiring that it feels like the failure was clear since long back. In any case, I too was hoping for a BT2 but now its more likely the studio will be closed down entirely. Maybe the IP can move on to some other studio or developer somehow, I dunno what restrictions is put on it? Or if I can dream a little, maybe Paradox can put togehter an A-team of their Grand Strategy developers and give us a Battletech game with the genes of Crusader Kings.
@@-Markus- What are you talking about? Lamplighters League came just few days ago, and its on Game Pass. What was expected it will sell 13 million copies on steam like Cyberpunk ?! The studios are just getting stupid lately. Looking for any excuse to butcher whole teams.
I feel really bad for Harebrained. Wanted battletech 2 and still dont think any crpg had a companion storyline as good as Glory's from Shadowrun Dragonfall. Hope the devs that were laid off find good opportunities elsewhere
I completely forgot they were working on this game! I played the hell out of their original Cyber Knights game on Mobile, and was super hyped when I heard they were working on this one. Thanks for covering this, and reminding me about it!

Absolutely loved Star Traders so I backed this on kickstarter, most likely won't dive too deeply into it during early access but will be spending lots of time on it as it gets close to release.
And the setting was an interesting twist on Dune lore, that was the main selling point for ST:F for me, the world that was underneath it all and the way it all moved around you, so even if the story and its gameplay were pretty 'chosen one'-ish in nature, it still made you feel like a cog in the machine. It made the moments when you and your crew actually were the only ones able to do something hit that much better.
Points in their favor : - They have an official wiki created, which I think shows how they value doing things properly. - They have opened a mods Steam Workshop in the past in response to popular demand.

So it's like if the Solasta artists made a Shadowrun game. Not necessarily a bad thing but needs the gurpy back chatter between the characters in the cut scenes.
I feel like the whole Cyberpunk genre is fairly well-represented, but I miss the magic. That's the one thing that always made Shadowrun stand out from something like the Cyberpunk universe. Magic, spirits, weird creatures, strange races, all as a kind of counterbalance to the heavy tech and consumer dystopia. Still, this looks great, and I'm sure I'll check it out.
Their old mobile game "Cyber Knights Elite" is one of the better cyberpunk mobile RPGs. Gave me serious "SNES Shadowrun" feels when I was playing it back in the day. It's weird for me to see mobile games on a PC, but in this instance I'm down with it. I originally got started watching Splattercat back when he was playing the tabletop Shadowrun with Aavak and Steejo and all them. Good times.
I may be wrong, but rolling for initiative all the time seems like a pain, the game looks interesting though. I hope we start seeing more cyberpunk styled games like this from the industry as a whole
Manipulating the initiative is an important part of the tactics in this game. You have ways to increase your initiative and decrease the guards' initiative. imho from a year in the alpha test.
I love tres Brothers. They're like the David A. Prior of hanged. David would famously watch movies, get inspired and then make his own version. Deadly Prey is like bad (but hilariously so) First Blood. It's like the Tres Brithers wanted to do Warhammer or Shadowrun but didn't want to secure licensing and with their own spin. They're very dedicated devs.
Their games are all based on their own homebrewed tabletop rules. Each game series have their own distinct lore and history that melds a lot of influences together, just like other IPs do. I recommend trying their games out. Have a great day.
Yes, you can go hot, if you want. But this is Cyberpunk. You got hot, you go dead. Keep stealth as long as you possibly can, but keep formations to be able to go hot when you have to. And yes, in Cyberpunk and Shadowrun, the GM sets things up that no job will ever go smooth. If it's a Milk Run, renew your DocWagon contract and bring extra ammo.

Stealth games try to give the player leeway and tools. A stealth game where the AI has too much awareness would be too hard for most people. The guards can have a reaction time, like they take a turn to react to something they saw. And if they see a glimpse of something, it builds up a general awareness instead of leading to an instant shootout. I don't like it when it's too dumbed down either, like when guards resume their patrols and calm down, or when you can run past the nose of a guard or wave a gun in front of a camera with a slap on the wrist. A more hardcore choice could be that guards escalate slowly, but once they're at a certain level they don't step down. I don't know if these guys have hearing. Sometimes the guards are given a hearing bubble in addition to their vision cone. They might not see a robot with a gun, but they hear and turn around if it shoots. Then you can give the player options for staying silent. Sometimes a dude would try to get you with a crossbow in Shadowrun because it was even more quiet than a silenced pistol. The mission prep sounds fun. It sounds like you can send Hackerman there to figure out security systems in advance.
