    I replaced the old dinky O2 pump on my starting ship with TURBOULTRA air pump I scavenged. 30 minutes later I started suffocating and couldn't figure out what the problem was. Maybe my helmet was malfunctioning? Was it low level of O2 in the tank? Was my hull leaking? After about 10 min of dying repeatedly, I realized you have to manually turn on the pump. 10/10 game.

      You need to wire it to the O2 sensor by clicking on one of the screws on the control bord (upper right hand cornner) than click on the O2 alarm and set the turbo pump to automatic and hit the turbo button

    Theres also a blue "Supplies" trade station just to the left of the airlock at OKLG. You can see it in the video several times. A lot of the items Splat says hes unable to find can be bought there (charging stations, batteries, tools, etc). They should always be available for purchase, though that are expensive.

    Since Splatt seems to forget it exists, the Supplies kiosk next to the airlock at K-LEG sells things like tools, batteries, battery chargers, EVA suits, basic supplies, etc. Its cheaper to get them elsewhere, but it is an option. Also, as others have mentioned in the comments, there is the gig economy to earn a bit of money, although one does need money to take those jobs, and other jobs are... rather expensive, let us just say.

    Love this game. When I started playing, my character started to have some mild pain. I couldn´t figure out what exactly caused this, so I just procured and took some pain meds. Did not really help. The med station didn´t come up with any issues either. So what was causing this pain? Well, it turns out I put on my shoes wrong, so left shoe on right foot and vise versa... that's it, that's what caused the mild discomfort. That´s the level of detail you have to deal with in this game ^^

    This game is wonderful. Had 3 characters that I just kind of flubbed initially, and after my first “successful” scrapping run ran out of ship battery like 10km off kleg station. Cue panicked uneducated retrofitting for over an hour just to slot in a new battery I’d salvaged and leave room for my nav console. Then spent another 5 or 6 hours accommodating the new battery properly and expanding. My brain hurts 10 out of 10

    There are 3 very annoying things in this game:
    1- is that the sleep and some "debuffs" take real life hours if not days of time to heal even with fast forward at max speed, like, you get sleepy and even after sleeping for a few in game days it will still not go away
    2- is the "map orientation", you can "permanently" flip the map top to bottom if you board or take a ship "wrong"
    3- you can get rammed by npcs when parked, it will send you flying at usually double or even triple the speed one usually cruises, some times you don't notice it until you are too far to get back and, there's no a way to completely stop your ship, you are always moving, drifting, you always risk to slowly slip too far if you stop to check you ship when not docked to kleg

    • @j.kronos8418
      @j.kronos8418 10 месяцев назад +37

      1 - it's been a few months since i played the game last time or checked their discord, there might be a fix for this (or not).
      2 - it's not about boarding the ship wrong or something, it's just how the game is made, basically, when the ship was build in the editor, the way it's airlock is facing is what changes the map orientation, if the airlock is facing up, other ships and stations will be oriented upwards as well, if it's down other ships/stations will be oriented downwards, it's the same for left or right as well.
      3 - in the docking menu, you can click the bottom left screw of the screen, it will open up a debug tool to help you dock with anything in the system, just find what you want to dock with and click, just remember to let go of whatever your docking with at the moment, it's not a fix for this problem, i know the devs are working on this one as well, but it's a tool to help you in case this happens.

      Its really not that difficult of a game. Get some tools, fix your ship, repair the hull, get a space suit and helmet, get some oxygen, buy a license, then go around disassembling everything, take the items to the base and sell them. Lather, rinse, repeat. Its only difficult in the very beginning when you dont have an oxygen suit. If you wander around long enough you will find the suits, helmets, and equipment around the stations. Trying to venture through space in a rusted bucket without any way to breath if the ship gets hit by a meteor is an issue. You wont have time to repair the hull before you run out of oxygen without a suit. Otherwise once you have a suit the game is SUPER easy and then the grind becomes all to real. In a short time you will have a decent ship, tons of money, and nothing to do with it.

    I wish they'd combine this game's mechanics with an abandoned game called Landinar , it would be awesome. The reason that game came to mind was due to the similar POV and the fact that you can build out your ship equipment (though not as detailed as this).

    • @SeedlingNL
      @SeedlingNL 9 месяцев назад +3

      There's also Hardspace : Shipbreaker. It's a 3d salvaging game where you dismantle ships to pay back a 'loan' of 1.2 billion credits... (the fee the company charged you for transit from Earth to orbit when you accepted the job). The ships are delivered to your bay, so no exploring, but you get to pick which ship you want to dismantle (and you can keep it in your bay if a single shift is not enough... some of those ships are quite massive...

    • @TheAzrai
      @TheAzrai 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@SeedlingNL I saw that, but the reviews painted it as rather shallow in terms of variation. Basically it was pure repetition after you've seen the few ships that are available. Maybe it's received lots of content patches since then.

    • @michajagielski8381
      @michajagielski8381 6 месяцев назад +1

      Idk why people praise Duskers so much, its very barebones. It also was a mistake to rely on keyboard commands as controls. Seems like a neat idea for the first few hours, but it really restricts what can happen during your runs, because in principle you cant react quickly in a complex manner, like you would with mouse control. So the challenges the game generates for you have to accomodate that.

  • @firefliesandsnow
    @firefliesandsnow 10 месяцев назад +4

    Great game. Daunting at first, but it has a pretty simple meta: find a good looking ship, strip it, buy it at KLEG commercial, fill it up with nice stuff (especially a reactor, heavy water, He3, batteries, etc.), then sell it for something like 3-10x what you paid for it. Last time I played there wasn't much more to do than that, but that was a minor version ago. Salvaging is super satisfying, and so I would often just start a new game to get back into it. Going to jump in again....
    Also, you can buy batteries and stuff in the "supplies" kiosk, which is left of your ship in KLEG.

    Just tried this game for the first time!
    First derelict I docked with had a pirate in it, who attacked me on sight. After a brief scuffle, I managed to go back into my ship, grabbing a knife I picked up from the starting station. Ended up repeatedly stabbing the pirate to death. After catching my breath, I decided to just grab a oxygen pump from the ship and scadoodle. Taking off my helmet, I heard the nav com beep. Was getting target locked by local security, and now there's a arrest warrant on me...
    This game is awesome! :D

    I think one of the tips I'd most include for people just starting out who don't have EVA suits yet is to make your first stop on any ship the battery room. If those batteries have charge, there's a good chance you can get the power back on, which means the air pumps will start working and you can pressurize the ship. Which means no more pressure suit juggling. Just don't accidentally cut a hole into hard vacuum by removing a wall, floor, or door tile keeping the air in. (If you remove the tile air doesn't 'escape' so much as 'disappears entirely' since the game registers that room as 'outside' now.)

    I'll have to check this out. I've been looking for a space salvage/looting game that clicks with me. If I could make my own it'd be like Sea of Thieves+ Hardspace: Shipbreaker. SoT in terms of exploration, ship control, and POI/derelict discovery, with the amount of environmental control of a shipbreaker when you're actually at a derelict. Plus having loot/salvage that could be used to upgrade your ship on top of selling it.
    This seems to tick a lot of those boxes, if a bit on the hardcore side of things.

    If you people look at the loot prices on the wiki, don't, they are not accurate, they are based on the "good" prices that the "smuggler" offers but those prices in game fluctuate, some times are worse than the company offer, for more accurate "static" loot selling price, look at what the "salvage company" offers and only sell to the "smugglers" when they offer more than the company

    I've been watching this game for at least a year, I love the concept but it's just so buggy I can't play it for more than a few days before rage-quitting. It seems like every few hours my whole crew will spontaneously suffocate, no hull breaches, plenty of O2 and CO2... One trigger is that if you uninstall a door the game registers hull breach even though there's still a floor and walls in the position.

    For anyone wondering, you can fix the pressure suit if you have the knowledge of how to do so.
    In fact, you can fix literally everything.
    The Supplies bench next to the dock has tools, food, water, clothes etc. etc.
    Theres so much splat didnt cover, i guess because there's a hell of a lot to cover for one guy.
    I do however, think the combat system is shite and needs to be implemented properly. Falling over for absolutely no reason is one of the most incensing things ive encountered.
    Apart from that, lots of potential.

      The combat system for Neo Scavenger was one of the best "text game" combat systems I've ever seen. So, the developer knows what he's doing. He'll get it right, and then some, for sure.

    Use the supply Kiosque close to your airlock to buy tools.. they have all of them even EVA suits.
    You can't just take derelicts.. you have to buy them from dealer in commercial district if you want
    to fix them up to use and/or sell it.
    Also you have to buy a new transponder for any derelict you buy if you want to use it and sell it.
    KLEG will not allow a unregistered i.e. "no transponder" ship to dock, and you will get in trouble
    with the LEO's if using it.
