- We walk in a straight line across the length of our 8 hectare (19.5 acre) property in rural Sweden, showing what we already did and talking about what we plan do to with it.

If your property once was a farm, please think about and make sure, If you are allowed to plant trees on the pastures, that we're in the past for animals.

Why trees?, need more meadows for bees and other insects.
That "strawberry" (jordgubbar) is wild strawberry (smultron). It's from them (partially) modern strawberrys is cultivated.

@@annicaesplund6613 to make a video in Swedish? I speak the language but I see no reason to make RUclips videos speaking it. Just like I don't make videos in Dutch anymore.
7:22 - Tomato plants don't need insect pollinators. Each flower pollinates itself when "shaken" by the wind. So if there is no wind (as in your case), you should just manually "shake" the flowers by gently tapping each flower cluster a few times with your fingers, then they pollinate quite easily.
You live in a beautiful location. I know it is a lot of work, but it feels so peaceful.

If you have all year-round water in that stream a future project could be making a pond for crayfish. In August/September Swedish people love to have crayfish parties. You have a nice property and when it come to the stairs I think it turned out nice.

Looks like you should have some prime access to wild berries and mushrooms, and it's been a good year for them so far. Wouldn't be surprised if you have kantareller, trattkantareller and various kinds of soppar there, as well as plenty of lingon and blueberries. Love the vids, very inspirational!
@@KyroDragon we're definitely OK for berries (hallon, blåbär, lingon) but haven't seen that many kantareller yet. We'll need to take walks in some other places to see if we can find some. We might be good for soppar and tickor though.
@@Tom_Brouwers kantareller ontop of toast is an absolute delicacy which i recommend you to try, mister brouwers

@@edinguy9585 maybe at some point but not anytime soon. Our neighbours have chickens and we buy eggs from them so that's convenient 😊

The area you pointers out as garden on the photo doesn’t count as garden when it come to Allemansrätten, only the part around the buildings count as garden.
@@ingegerdandersson6963 it's just a video thumbnail, not evidence for a court case 😁😜. Everyone is welcome to pick berries and mushroom on our property off course. I didn't mean to indicate this is a private garden and we don't have any fences so you're absolutely right 😊

Have you considered solar and batteries? It's kind of cheap now in Sweden and you could be entitled to tax write-off on the installation, if you're paying taxes in Sweden!
@@henrikparksjo7980 tack så mycket! We have considered it and got a quote for solar but that was only for grid connected panels that wouldn't work if the power fails. An off grid system would be much more expensive and not interesting for now.

This is actually a very small property which the owners left to survive somewhere else. What are you going to live off?

Oh and by the way. The previous owner lives a 5 min drive from us. Met him again on our road yesterday and had a friendly chat. Lovely guy and very much still lives in the village.

@@Gorgina3003 kort antwoord: voor een breder publiek. Het lange antwoord is dat we zijn begonnen voor vrienden en familie in Nederland met de video's, maar we hebben hier nu ook vrienden en buren die geen Nederlands spreken. En gezien het ook wordt bekeken door een breder internet publiek, is Engels dan een logische keuze.
Ik hoop niet dat het hierdoor moeilijker te volgen is voor jullie, maar hopelijk is het hierdoor wel duidelijk.

Ik begrijp dat jullie trots zijn maar ga dit nou niet allemaal online gooien. Straks woon je weer tussen de Nederlanders met hun klompjes aan de muur. In Canada heb je ook al hele Ned. boeren dorpen. Ik heb al 25 jaar ervaring in Zweden. Wil je rust, houdt het dan voor jezelf en doe je dingetje en geniet. Succes!
@@rapalaron6348ach, het gros van de nederlanders woont in een (grote) stad en is helemaal niet in staat om de ‘gemakken’ (of juist ongemakken, het is maar hoe je het bekijkt) op te geven en zo te gaan wonen zoals zij hier in een mooie omgeving.
Het zal niet zo’n vaart lopen. Volgens het cbs vertrokken er in 2022 11.000 mensen met een NL achtergrond uit NL. Deze zullen niet allemaal de buren worden van Tom ;-)

@@Janduin45 I mean, they look like smultron and taste like smultron, so pretty sure.
@@Tom_Brouwers Yeah you are probably correct. I'm located quite a bit further north where smultron isn't as common and åkerbär is much more common which made me think it might be that, but since you are "down there" it probably is smultron.

Ik begrijp dat jullie trots zijn maar ga alles nou niet online gooien. Je verpest het niet alleen voor jezelf maat ook voor een ander. Zweden is al lang niet meer wat het ooit was door de migratie politiek en straks zit je ook nog eens tussen de Nederlanders met klopjes naast hun voordeur en de Duitsers. Ik heb al 25 jaar ervaring in Zweden en heb heel veel zien veranderen. Geniet van je rust zo lang het nog kan en doe je eigen dingetje.....succes!
@@rapalaron6348 bedankt voor je mening maar als je al 25 jaar ervaring hebt in Zweden (op de camping denk ik dan?) had je misschien wel wat van hun gastvrijheid overgenomen.
Wij zijn hier hartelijk verwelkomd door onze Zweedse buren, maar ook door onze Duitse en Belgische buren. En wij zullen hetzelfde doen voor onze nieuwe buren, onafhankelijk waar ze vandaan komen.
Ik hou het graag positief, maar ik snap dat je als je iets moois hebt, je het wilt behouden. Maar iets moois delen met een ander maakt het toch juist mooier, niet lelijker? Bovendien blijft het hier echt wel mooi en rustig, ook als hier voornamelijk niet-Zweden wonen.
@@Tom_Brouwers Ik woon al bijna 25 jaar permanent in Zweden. Als vakantie/camping ganger leer je niet veel over de mensen, de Zweedse mentaliteit, regels en wetten en hoe alles gaat in een land en had dan ook geen commentaar gegeven omdat je gewoon geen ervaring hebt. Ik houdt het ook graag positief maar ben niet naïef. Je blind staren op de mooie omgeving, ruimte, natuur en de rode huisjes met de witte raampjes is de fout van veel mensen.
