    I learned to do a muscle up like this. I don't like the way it looks. Now, I am working on a clean muscle up.

    The "knees up" part really made the difference for me. Just today I managed to get over the bar not for the first time, but without a huge swing of my legs, which my home pull-up bar doesn't allow because of the wall. That's why I never could do one at home till today. I am maybe on the weaker side of athletes, so I can't rely on a small kip and huge lats to do the rest, I am dependent on a strong upward push from my lower body. Less of a muscle up and more of a knee up. Thanks

    The resistance bands helped me so much just practicing for a week with bands without a week I was able to do a muscle up with the bands. The bands helped me with the transition and grip. I recorded my process on my channel with yt shorts. My form isn’t perfect but glad I was able to learn muscle ups finally

    So I have literally just got to the stage of the first (not correct) example with the ‘chicken wing’ muscle up. This video is a big help. Thanks man 👌🤘

    I've been practicing crossfit for 3 months now and last week i finally got my first "chicken wing" muscle up. After that I didn't let go and kept practicing. Now, a week after my first I can do a set of 10 singles in a row. I am working on stringing them together. My hardest challenge is the coming off the bar into a swing to get the next one. Sometimes i get it, most times i don't. But ill get there 💯

    Good explanation of a kipping muscle up / bar hip swing. Might be worth demonstrating a muscle up as well not using Kip to show how to progress from kipping to proper form which will improve technique, the look of it and strength. If all you want to do are CrossFit muscle ups then this is fine but after a while it’s nice to cut all the swinging and kipping out and really do a good muscle up.

      Training for max reps in a short period of time. I'm sure there are times where you do strict muscle up and build for strength. It's a different mentality and training for a different purpose. To each their own though for sure...

      @@ashliferris There is pretty clear difference between kip up and muscle up and this one is kip up :) Still not ez, most people can't do even single kip up.

    • @cdn1588
      @cdn1588 5 месяцев назад +1

      @ivayloivanov3744 I'd call it a kipping muscle up. I'd say the kipping part or kip up is the approach and or technique behind the movement. In this case getting yourself all the way up in a muscle up stance would qualify this as a kipping muscle up, kip muscle muscle up and so on. The end result is the muscle up. But yes, not everyone can perform even this version.

    What a mess. Sorry no hating here seriously, but I'm genuinely wondering what is the purpose of learning the muscle up in such a bad messy form. Why don't you take the time to slowly build the strength with some exercises that will lead to a clean, neat and strict healthy muscle up instead of relying on a huge swing and knee kipping. Lock your explosive pull ups to the chest, have your straight bar dips in check, use resistance bands to eliminate swinging and slowly build your way up. All I foresee here is back and shoulder destruction in the near future.

    Is not muscl'up....

  • @jiminal07
    @jiminal07 6 лет назад +15

    It's a kip up. Gymnasts use it to get over the bar using momentum instead of strength. It serves no purpose other than as a means to get over the bar and doesn't strengthen the appropriate muscles for a real muscle up. Arching you back insanely like that is also daft. To learn the muscle up movement you can use a slight swing but shouldn't arch your back like that. It releases tension from the abs and prevents scapula retraction which is essential for engagement of the back and transfer of back strength in dynamic movements like a muscle up. Go away crossfit.

      Althought not requiring the same strength as a strict muscle up this still requires strength mobility and agility to achieve it
