Real talk? This movie is fucking GORGEOUS. I still say it's the most beautiful Pokemon movie. I swear I could slap some of these still frames into some frames and people would see it as art. Because it is art.
"It would only entertain fans" the critics said, I actually really dislike Pokemon, I think the first movie is pretentious and the second extremely bland and something you would find in any freaking anime (and the imagery was akin to a effortless Disney Direct to Video movie), but I was forced to watch the third one by my little brother and I was honestly surprised at how decent it turned out. Sure, it has some flaws but the animation was way better than the first two (especially the second one) and Molly's struggle has actually a lot of little details that as a psychology student I find really fascinating. Even the fact her parents end up alive don't hurt the message in my eyes because she learnt to not be so overtly emotionally dependant on them and hopefully she will now try to take on the outside world and play with real people instead of fantasies.
Man as a little girl whos dad had died and felt a whole lot of grief and loneliness in a weird way that i couldn't understand at that age I was obsessed with this movie and found it really really comforting!
Honestly this film is so underrated, it rlly captures the wonders and desires of being a kid and explored issues like neglection and loneliness and how these emotions can impact kids especially. Not to mention the soundtrack is just phenomenal
Aurum ash wants to be a pokemon Master Red and the others wants to win the league, and only capture pokemons the anime is more epic for watch and enjoy the experience

I loved all three of the sinnoh trilogy when I was a kid, but looking back now, the giratina and arceus movie were honestly kind of underwhelming. The human villains in both of the latter two movies all kinda sucked (which tbh, the Pokémon movies have never done human villains well) Rise of darkrai honestly outshined both of its sequels.

My goodness! Pokémon 3 and the one with Lucario are the only movies I remember watching when they first came out. I remember telling my sibling about Pokémon 3 that all I can remember is that Entei was this girl’s father. So glad to see someone else who loves this movie as much as me! This was probably my fave pokemon movie as a kid, and it hit me so hard with feels. This is just a really depressing and kinda traumatic movie when you think about it, although they manage to keep it light and fun enough that it's still rated G for kids. I absolutely loved Entei and the whole wish-granting Unown thing lol. Thank goodness at the end Molly gets her dad (and apparently her mom?) back.
It is heavily implied in the games that the Unknown are the building blocks that Areceus (Pokemon god) used to make the universe. They ARE the fabric of spacetime soooo yeah they can make whatever the hell they want. Pretty scary for the power of the universe to be in the hands of a grieving five year old.
During my childhood there used to be this video rental store. It had a few rules, one of them being you can only rent 2 movies. Well I used to rent this movie every week for like, a year and the owner just let me rent it as a third film. Thanks owner, where ever you are.
Cartoon Network showed this movie a lot compared to the other ones so I did see this one the most on TV and it has become one of my favorite. Plus I LOVE the Pikachu short that started this film. I loved the city setting, the Pichu Brothers, and the overall cuteness of it.
Every movie was incredible. Each one was very emotional, with someone’s life on the line, and every movie had an incredible plot for a videogame/tv show movie. My favorites easily were both the Mewtwo movies, Pokémon 2000, Genesect but only because Mewtwo Y, and probably more I don’t remember because I haven’t amerced myself in Pokémon for at least a year

very perfect cell 213 I would've agreed with you if you were talking about how they are really bad at battles and such, but you literally said they're completely meaningless, which they are not. The ruins in Johto and all the people researching there expand on Unown's lore, and in the gen 4 games there's an unused event where Arceus uses the Unown to bend reality and give you another legendary Pokemon. The games aren't exclusively about battles, there's lore just like the movies

You know, when I was around 4 I thought my dad was dead as he left for Malaysia for 3 months. Yet when he calls my home afterwards (they're divorced) and asks if I want to stay over his place I literally said "no, too late. I already have plans for a sleepover with my friend." I gave no reaction to my thought of him being dead and to him being not dead. I was a weird kid.

Yeah Pokemon 3 was definitely different and I loved it. It was raw, violent and told a fascinating story

You know, when I was around 4 I thought my dad was dead as he left for Malaysia for 3 months. Yet when he calls my home afterwards (they're divorced) and asks if I want to stay over his place I literally said "no, too late. I already have plans for a sleepover with my friend." I gave no reaction to my thought of him being dead and to him being not dead. I was a weird kid.
