@Katie I also love this movie and I cry when I watch it because it's a sad movie. A little girl named Molly loses her father and the Unown being psychic feel Molly's pain and sorrow so they create Entai to be her father to protect her. The Unown and Entai are not the villain. That dude is brilliant. Remaking Mewtwo Strikes Back was almost completely pointless - they didn't even bother to have Mewtwo Mega Evolve to differentiate it from the classic movie - but Dan Green's voice acting single handedly saved that film from being a total waste of time. The arrogance and distain in his voice as he delivered lines like "Use Seismic Toss" really captured Mewtwo's disgust for "inferior" Pokemon.
There is one aspect that I think gets overlooked with the unknown going berserk. They were granting Molly's wishes, and she did wish that she wouldn't ever leave, but when she decided to leave and face reality, there becomes an obvious contradiction between the wish and reality she asked for and her desire at the end creating the climax. Once the unknown were calmed down, they understood and thus they released her father.
I never had cable TV when I was younger and later I only was able to watch toonami, but with the newer ad and was still sent back even though I never watched that one
This was my favorite Pokémon movie as a kid. And I still enjoy it today. My most favorite scene is when Entei calls out Molly’s name right before he defeats the Unown.
Ngl, the one thing I appreciate with this movie is how nobody blames Molly for everything that happened. @@fatuusdottore Well yeah lol. I'm just mentioning it since nowadays a lot of content *doesn't* take that kind of thing into consideration (i.e Miraculous Ladybug). So seeing that in this movie just feels refreshing.
I agree. Molly May have unintentionally caused some harm especially to the surrounding field and town outside of the crystal tower that the Unown created but she was also a very lonely child whose only companion was her father who suddenly disappeared one day. That would be hard for any child to deal with and all Molly wanted was a parent to love her. As a young child, she had no idea that you can’t just take any woman and make her love you and see you as her own child. You can have her become a mother figure who will look out for you and support you over time but you can’t produce the love a mother has for her own child and have it be the same. Molly was too young to understand life and what is to be expected from it. She is probably the most tragic characters in the movies right after Coco.
@@nathancruz9172 Did you know, Dan Green, the voice of Entei, had ever voiced Leo(Kimba) the White Lion from the Tezuka Movie named Jungle Emperor Leo(1997).
This is easily the best of the Pokemon films. As there's no cartoon villain, this means the story is carried by the writing. Not something you see every day in a feature length toy commercial. Entei fills the role of well meaning zealot, but unlike so many other english adaptions with such characters he's written CONSISTENTLY, rather than his motives and goals changing two or three times through the same movie. And unlike all other 'this pokemon isn't evil, just misunderstood' it doesn't come across as a forced twist, since again, they're written CONSISTENTLY!
When I was little I hate Mollie and Delia for a while because of this movie. I didn't understand that Entei literally kidnapped her and instead I thought that Delia abandoned Ash on purpose. I lost my mom at a young age so the whole idea of Ash being abandoned really got to me. Glad I rewatched it years later and fixed that misconception.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I genuinely can’t imagine how that must have felt. I could get why seeing Delia go to help Molly and walk away from Ash like that would be really difficult to see. Sorry to get sappy out of nowhere but I hope that you’re doing ok.
An amazing but scary movie I still have shivers even thinking about him putting a spell on Delia, and her lifeless body falling limp onto his back as a husk.Creepy stuff man. So underrated.
I kinda agree. For me the first three pokemon movies were legit, they gave me the greatest feels as a kid. Lucario and the mystery of Mew is also awesome. It's among the top 4 best pokemon movies, along the first 3 movies. The music alone was freaking awesome.
I have this movie still and I have always lived it. The music is fantastic and the fantastical crystal structures are gorgeous. In the commentary, they noted that these crystals are an homage to Crystal Version, which debuted around the time of the movie's release. And since Crystal is my favorite Pokémon game, I love this movie even more. Watching this made me really nostalgic.
THIS is one of my favorite films. its about a little girl who loses her father having to be raised by animals who has to use her own moral senses to help others who she wronged because of her child needs. its about dealing with adoption. its about dealing with loss. it stands out as a glorious testament to the understanding of child psychology.
Glad someone made this video. It needs to blow up because I’m so annoyed that they haven’t made movies with more adult themes like this one. This was my favorite movie growing up. I made my teacher play it for our class in like 3rd grade. I tried to get so many people to watch it.
It's not your headcannon, its literally facts lol. Unown are never meant to be alone, reason why they are so weak in the games. They are meant to be in large groups, to access their full power. Now if only they have an ability similar to wishiwashi...
It's just a fact how the first 3 movies are the best ones, as they actually, are more then just a pokemon anime/game, made into movies, they just go that bit further. It has more story, emotional load, and it isn't just a generic legendary thing. They are actually movies, stories with there own rights. Which (at least till Pokemon I Choose you movie came out, 21th if I am right) is so much better then the other movies, I still enjoyed them. But, compared to the first 3, they were kinda dull. (Certainly around the black and white arc, the movies just became bad fillers).
Well to be fair the fourth and fifth also feel like actual movies in the same sense. Especially the fifth with the Latios dying in the end And the Lucario movie is just beautiful in its own right
@@ΑΡΙΣΤΟΤΕΛΗΣΛΑΧΑΝΟΠΟΥΛΟΣ Yeah, movie 5 only complaint i had was the duration of the movie, but other than that, it was good. Movies,1,2,3,4,5,8 and the Sinnoh trilogy were personally the best that had more of a story than just showcasing the new legendary or pokemon that's coming in the next generation (a trend which was started in Movie 5) unfortunetly some movies and especially the ones after 4rth generation were really bad or felt like fillers from a regular episode, they really didn't add any meaning and felt soulless (looking at you Hoopa movie).
@@crisrey0799 The Hoenn movies were also particularly weak with the exception of the Lucario movie But yeah, after gen 4 I too felt disillusioned with the movies since they did feel like filler to me
Unown are pretty weak on their own, but absolute powerhouses when several come together. I’m surprised GameFreak hasn’t made an Unown form where you can combine the 28 Unown into one Pokemon that has Legendary stats, knows more than one move and has a powerful signature move. I can just imagine it just being all the Unown circling around a single point similar to this movie. Unown deserves way more recognition than the games give them, especially when the games has entire areas dedicated to catching them.
It's been too long since I saw this movie last, but even this brief synopsis has put a lump in my throat that child me never really felt watching this movie over and over again. Molly's story is surprising emotional.
There is one thing I wished was different - a few Unown had stayed behind simply to keep Entei around, but at reduced power, and had to actually regain his power to that of a 'normal' Entei, but he'd still have his mind and ability to speak. And he'd more aware of his actions and their impact, instead of just doing anything she wanted. But he'd have made an excellent extra father. Him defeating the Unown and going away makes me cry every single time.
They should give Unown an ability similar to Wisiwashi, gathering various Unown allows them to unleash their true power and to have real psiquic moves.
I always thought the Unown act as a catalyst to each other - the more there are the stronger their powers become. They're so weak in the games because they're so few and far between so they only have these weak pathetic powers, but in the anime / movies there's always a crap load of them so their powers are much more potent. That's just how I always saw them anyway.
Yes. They are letter, their true power comes from forming words and sentences. They are somewhat implied to be the letters through which reality is written.
I remember this movie and how freaking disturbing the concept of reality being rewritten completely on the fly by the Unown based on the whims of a child who didn’t know any better really was. It kinda reminds me of the Twilight Zone movie where that one kid was completely terrorizing his own family with his ability to do whatever he felt like to them at a given moment, but with the help of the social worker was able to change for the better.
I adore the fan theory that the unknown or something like the basic building blocks for the Pokémon world. Worlds or shaped by words. This idea is even somewhat used again in the heart gold and soul silver games, where Arceus will create legendary for you with the help of the unknown.
Fun fact: in the American and Australian releases of Pokemon 3, Professor Hale comes back before Ash and Co leave Molly's mansion, but in the Japanese version, he returns only right before the end credits start. We also NEVER find out where Molly's mother was all that time or how she comes back during the end credits.
Man, I have so much nostalgia for the first three Pokemon movies. I had all three of them on VHS back in the early 2000s when I was a kid. My grandparens had The First Movie while I had 2000 and 3 at my house. My older brother and I used to watch them a lot. I miss the old days, man. No shitty job, no bills to pay, no responsibilities. Just Kids WB, classic Cartoon Network, Toon Disney/Disney Channel, PS1/GameCube/PS2/GameBoy Advance games, Bionicles, trading card games and comic books (superhero & Calvin & Hobbes). Also you can laugh if you want but I had a crush on Lisa when I was little lol.
I loved this movie, one of the best out there. The opening theme was so much fun/good. Actually one of my favorites. But the movie was, so, it was more then a kids movie. It was, emotional and just different then the anime. It was about lonelyness, that hurts because back then I was truly lonely. Still am, but have friends now. Also the moment Entei died (or however ya call it), was the first time I felt emotions in animation. Great movie and I miss it so much.
I only. remember this movie cuz fake enteinwas so damn badass he became my favorite beast and wish his moveset had more references to his movie versions. And that I AM NO ILLUSION line is just the best delivery
This is my favourite Pokémon movie the scene with the Unowns just had hit different Molly just wanted back his dad. The Unowns just give her what she want. We even get why he became Entei, and it is because her dad played Entei for her and that's her strongest memory about him in that moment. It is all so good
Honestly this might be my favourite movie alongside 2000 and Heroes.. Its a really unique plot and has always stuck out to me as really melancholy rather than the "Ash bumps into legendary" plotline which I feel plagued a few of the newer movies. Also I love that Molly isn't a villain and neither are the Unown. This movie shows pure trauma and anguish of a young girl, which can be understood beneath the upbeat Pokemon exterior. The sympathy I feel is earned rather than either pikachu or ash being seemingly dead for a few seconds to replicate the first movie where it actually had effect. I also don't know why this movie isn't talked about more as its really great, it had some amazing fight scenes too where each of the three Ash, Misty and Brock got the limelight in battle- we barely see that in the show let alone a movie with more limited time! Oh yea and that remix of Pokemon Johto Journey's theme is pure fire, can't stop listening to it!
As a child with Dissociative Identity Disorder who WAS orphaned at the same age as Molly my alters used this movie as fuel when I saw this movie in theaters and it FUCKED me up. My main protectors functioned much like Entei. In fact he took on all characters who used dan greens voice at the time period of that 90s/2000s after that 😭💀 I'm just NOW unpacking this over 20 years later. WTF.
I love this movie so much. It was the last Pokémon movie I watched with my dad in theaters before he passed away. Seeing Molly call Entei papa always chokes me up because I know what it’s like to lose a father. It’s probably why Entei is my favorite legendary Pokémon 🥹❤️
I re-watched this movie constantly as a child and I LOVED it! Rewatching on Pokémon TV on the switch a few days ago was so fun. I appreciate going back to it.
The movie is actually one of the biggest insults if you look up what happened behind the scenes. It's one of those cases of censorship that really hit me hard. Takeshi Shudō was the chief writer of the original Pokemon Anime and the sole writer of the first 3 films, which the dubs consistently butchered but that's besides the point. When he received the screenplay of the film, they had made a rather massive change to the story, it's about Spencer's Wife and Molly's Mother. The woman at the end of the film who comes home was only revealed to be his wife and her mother in the screenplay as it wasn't expressly stated in the film. He mentioned that Hideki Sonoda (co-writer of the Film and various episodes of the anime) "had fundamentally misunderstood the point behind his screenplay, stating that had his own mother been alive and he been in Molly's shoes, he would have never abducted another person's mother.". This was one of the reasons he retired from the Pokemon franchise, mind you this was the last film he ever worked, while the last anime he worked on was 3 years prior to his death in 2010. There was.. A lot of changes in the film in the dub, actually it made it far worse. Like Brock's dialogue during the battle, he was actually trying to teach her a lesson about growth through his experiences with Pokemon Breeding, but instead the dub turns it into another "ha ha funny guy brock, rocky rock rock". There's a lot of other things that were changed, but I'd highly recommend people check the Bulbapedia entry regarding the film, it honestly makes me look at the film VERY differently now as an adult. What was once a rather unique and mature take for a Pokemon film, apparently had a better version in the Japanese that was bastardized. I honestly believe that Takeshi put a lot of himself into the original screenplay and his own experiences with loss and grief. The fact that corporate came down and basically changed it behind his back like that is just disgusting.
Shudo had also never actually EXPLAINED that he wrote it from the perspective of Molly's mother having died. He expected everyone to just sort of KNOW that, somehow. But I think it still works.
One thing that me and many others have found intriguing about this movie is the book of legendaries. Many have made theories on what legendaries the book is depicting, however I personally believe that the book is depiciting legendaries that we have never seen and will never see. Many try to say certain pages are symbolic representations of certain creatures (however one page alone has two entirely separate theories on it) some pages outright show the legends. This makes me think that most of the other pages are just things designed specifically for this movie only
If I was good at drawing and if I started animation I would possibly make my own take on this adding more lore and depth to this movie while keeping the dark tones of the original intact.
It is certainly one of the best movies in the franchise, right up there alongside the first movie in terms of impact it had. Also, it gave Unown the treatment the main series and the Mystery Dungeon games neglected completely, presenting them as these mysterious entities that carry a potentially reality-altering powers. The only problem I had with it was the same as with most other movies: I just didn't like Ash as the main protagonist, and the dub made this problem arguably worse. Combine the voice acting of the english dub with one of the most clunky languages in the world with long words and sentences, and you'll get... the finnish dub.
There was also that episode in the johto series with Ash's Larvitar where they encountered an Unown and it showed them Larvitar's perspective for people and what it went through.
@@ΑΡΙΣΤΟΤΕΛΗΣΛΑΧΑΝΟΠΟΥΛΟΣ I love that event. Where you get a egg of one of the 3 sinnoh legends. I have an Arceus that can do it. I mostly pick Dialga.
Charizard only managed to land ONE attack on Entei throughout the entire fight, and it barely phased him. That Fire Spin surrounding the tower Entei was standing on and finally engulfing him would have been terrifying against most opponents but Entei shrugged it off like nothing. Meanwhile, Pikachu managed to land two attacks and the second one actually hurt. You can see Entei visibly wince in pain when the second attack hits him. Presumably, Pikachu switched from Thunderbolt to the more powerful Thunder because Entei literally leapt straight through his first attack without flinching.
The only problem I have with this movie is its ending, where both Molly’s father and mother show up. The Japanese supplementary material reveals that Molly’s mother was sick in the hospital during the events of the movie, which to me at least makes Molly’s reasoning for having Entei kidnap Ash’s mother to be her replacement far less understandable, and Molly becomes far less sympathetic as a result. Granted, the ending with Molly’s mother and that whole rejigging was added in pretty much at the last minute. The original writer, Takeshi Shudo, wanted Molly’s mother dead before the events of the movie took place, and then another writer, Hideki Sonoda (who would go on to write a majority of the later Pokémon movies) took over when Shudo was unable to continue working on the movie, and changed the ending. I don’t want to say the ending retroactively ruins the movie, but it definitely makes Molly come off as a worse character, at least in my opinion. Other than that, the video was great, and I agree with pretty much everything else you said.
I was seriously wondering about this a few weeks ago and perplexed. Thanks. Yeah, I'm just going to ignore that explanation then and headcanon that Mom was lost to something much worse and Dad managed to save her from it.
It actually makes sense when you think about it from the unowns perspective. Molly wants her mommy, the unown want to grant her wish and by extension want to avoid the wish backfiring somehow. So instead of grabbing her actual mother who is sick and that removing them may cause their health to worsen and may cause molly to lose her mother in the process, they grab Delia instead who is a mother and has a connection to molly and is healthy. As they essentially sidestep the wish's actual intent, just like they did with Entei and her actual father. The main reason molly's actual mother and father come back is because they are still trying to fulfill her wishes, of wanting to be with her actual mother and father. As that is her primary wishes. As if you want to think about it more deeply, the unown could have simply just expelled her father from their dimension, but they didn't. Which is why they are antagonistic to not only Ash but also to Molly herself.
That’s the case in the Dub, but not the Japanese version. Admittedly, the Dub’s rewrite keeps Molly sympathetic, and makes the mother’s reappearance alongside Spencer less ‘out-of-the-blue’ and coincidental than the Japanese version.
This was the first pokemon movie VCD i owned back in the days, till date, it was still my favorite pokemon movie. Even as a kid, I really love the psychological perspective of this movie, Molly who loss both her parents, just feeling lonely, and reminisce on happy thoughts with her parents. Hoping everything was real till the last moment she finally accept reality "I want things real again". Like you can feel Molly emotions and psychological suffering from her loss. It's quite different from other pokemon movie where it's mostly bad guys attacked, oh no our new friend is dying, tries invoke sadness, miracle happens which had become predictable. This movie imo goes deeper psychologically.
I was playing the original silver when I saw this, and I remember hunting down as many unown as I can find until a friend said "Sorry, they suck." So instead I got a big fire doggo and called it a day. Waisted SOOOO many pokeballs....
I randomly decided to watch the first few Pokémon movies again a few years ago. I remember not caring for this one as much, but damn. On rewatch it was really compelling. The opening is a rough watch.
This still holds itself as my all-time favorite battle Ash's Charizard has ever taken part in. My boi flys all the way from the Characific Valley to come save Ash, then holds his own for a time against an entei made intentionally to be basically unstoppable.
You know, if I would have written the movie, I would have made the Unown King Creepypasta canon to the anime. Basically, the creepypasta is about a kid that played the Unown Radio in the Ruins of Alf at precisely 3 AM, while he had Mew, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Lugia, Suicune and Moltres in his party. Because 3 AM is the witching hour, the Legendaries died. What happened was that they were devoured by a monstrous mesh of Unowns known as the Unown King. It would have been interesting to see the Unown King in the movie since the Unown are essentially the Big Bad of the movie, having taken Molly's father away from her and then trapping her in a lotus-eater machine. Yes, Professor Oak claims that the Unown's action is Power incontinence, but when Molly tries to abandon them, they try to kill her, only to fail because of Entei's loyalty towards Molly. So I would have shown that, when Molly rejects the Unown's reality, their eyes would all turn red and they'd fuse all together to create the Unown King in order to force Molly into being the Unown King's puppet queen. But then, again, he'd have to face Entei first, leading to Entei's sacrifice that ultimately destroys the Unown King. Yes, I know the Unown King managed to kill Suicune in his pasta, but Molly wished for her Entei to be strong enough to protect her from any threat, and because the Unown didn't think that Molly would betray them, that included the Unown King. So, yeah, that's how I'd rewrite the movie.
I would like to some time, because it’s an interesting topic. Probably in March, though, cause win gonna wait on more full movie discussions until I see whatever Pokémon announces in February for the 25th anniversary.
This one is actually my favorite story quality wise. There are alot of bland and unmemorable pokemon movies after this one. And I feel like a lot of people rate the standout Lucarario and the mystery of mew by how dark it was at the end instead of by lucario’s arc, wich is the real focus of the movie. This is unfair because nearly every pokemon movie is dark in the ending. Always Ash dies or nearly dies, or everyone dies(mewtwo, Diancie, manaphy, Lucario, victini), a pokemon dies or almost dies(Latios, Celebi, Zoroark, Victini Arceus, or there’s a giant evil spirity kaiju(Celebi, Jirachi, Hoopa.)
We had this movie that focused on Entei. We had the Celebi movie that also featured Suicune (not to mention the Crystal Version). So I was kinda disappointed that Raikou didn't get some love
I watched it once as a kid and then never again because I didn't understand it. I should've watched it more often. There would've been a lot less escapism and depression if I had realized earlier that fleeting into soothing fantasy doesn't solve problems.
I feel like this movie is more relevant now with Paradox Pokemon, since when you think about it they are very similar to the illusion pokemon in this film. Both the unknown and the Terrastal phenomenon create growing crystals that take over everything around them, replacing the ground and plants with more crystals, ans they both make impossible things happen because of someone's wishes (the time machine, the AI, a pokemon changing type and arguably the paradox pokemon themselves). I think we'll get more information about this connection in the Indigo Disc, especially since we know there are paradox forms of the legendray beasts.
Right?! I’ve been noticing the parallels between this movie and Scarlet Violet (and DLC). This is random but Pokemon Crystal cartridge has Suicune on it (the legendary beast revealed and it was also the first one they showed the paradox form of) but a year later, they decided to debut Entei as the antagonist for the Pokemon 3 the movie? Why not Suicune? Either way, I’m excited to see what the Indigo Disk reveals!
The important part of the Unown's power is that they have to be in large enough groups to edit the world. In computing terms, Molly's cluster of unown are reprogramming the rest of them, resulting in her fantasy world expanding.
Agree with you! I’ve been thinking about this movie a lot lately and you hit all the points. It’s such a deep movie and like you, I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about it. Thanks for making this video and sharing your thoughts! Also, what do you think about the themes of this movie and the latest Pokémon Scarlet and Violet game (and DLC)? The parallels are a little uncanny!
This was actually my first Pokemon movie, and I wasn't even into the show at this time. I was a Digimon fan until this movie and shortly after, getting Pokemon Gold for Christmas. I can happily say my life was never the same after that- Pokemon continues to be one of my favorite worlds to this day!
Honestly unown could be an easy fix in the game. Give unown an secret ability that enhances it's base stats the more unown alphabet you have captured in-game. If you have A-Z then your unown is NO joke. Maybe give it a special Tapu style field visual whenever it's on the field? But make the field contain all the unowns floating around the background ? This also works rather well because the games...well,the older games, make you need HMs to reach sections where some unown alphabets can be caught anyway. Meaning you can't reach full power Unown til you have all you can actually reach certain locations.
I have an idea to make the Unown viable in the games. Maybe, if you have Unown captured, you keep one slot in your party open and instead occupied by some kind of 'Unown Key' or something that lets you harness their power. When using the slot in battle, the key would summon between 1 and 28 Unown from the PC (balanced by how many you have captured). The power of them would increase if you have more of them captured. Not too dissimilar to how Stored Power works: more = stronger. And if you have all 28 captured and in the PC, then you have a max powered Unown swarm sent out into battle. Then if they faint, the key will be disabled and can't be used again until you 'heal' it. Say with a key item or if that isn't balanced due to having unlimited healing, use actual revives on it. Like a normal mon in the slot.
Uhhm no pretty sure it's exactly [well not like *exactly* exactly] 20 years before wandavision mobie 3 came out in 2001 and wandavision came out in 2021
yo ma dude, nice vid!keep up the good work. @@izzy1356 miraculous ladybug is crap in my opinion it's a rip off of anime and it's horrible this is my opinion by the way
I love how this Entai really did care for Molly, to the point of letting his existence end… because that is what she wishes
Sometimes, Entei is similar to Simba from the lion 🦁 king.

This one was my favorite, it made the unown threatening and more of a mystery as to why their powers are so dubious
That’s good.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I genuinely can’t imagine how that must have felt. I could get why seeing Delia go to help Molly and walk away from Ash like that would be really difficult to see. Sorry to get sappy out of nowhere but I hope that you’re doing ok.
An amazing but scary movie
I still have shivers even thinking about him putting a spell on Delia, and her lifeless body falling limp onto his back as a husk.Creepy stuff man. So underrated.
After re-watching, I feel like this movie, over time, will become a cult classic moreso than Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and Pokemon Heroes.
they are all classics
This film is a masterpiece.
Unpopular opinion: lucario's movie is highly overrated.
@@Lusius8879 agreed

I always had the headcannon that unown are only powerful and have reality bending powers when they are in large numbers, but not by themselves
It's not your headcannon, its literally facts lol. Unown are never meant to be alone, reason why they are so weak in the games. They are meant to be in large groups, to access their full power. Now if only they have an ability similar to wishiwashi...
Well, one letter (Unown) doesn’t mean much at all. But when put together into words and sentences, the possibilities are infinite.
Yes, the first three films are the absolute best of the best.
@@fatuusdottore don't dis the fourth tho, it was really good too and was the only movie in my childhood that actually made me able to cry from a movie

@@crisrey0799 The Hoenn movies were also particularly weak with the exception of the Lucario movie

As a kid: Funny Japanese Animals fighting each other! This movie is so fun!
As an adult: Holy crap this is dark
Molly's dad getting trapped in the unknown dimension really fucked me up as a kid.
That movie's artwork is a masterpiece.
One of my favorites Pokémon movies
There is one thing I wished was different - a few Unown had stayed behind simply to keep Entei around, but at reduced power, and had to actually regain his power to that of a 'normal' Entei, but he'd still have his mind and ability to speak. And he'd more aware of his actions and their impact, instead of just doing anything she wanted. But he'd have made an excellent extra father.
Him defeating the Unown and going away makes me cry every single time.
You remind me of myself wanting the AI from Scarlet and Violet to come back.
What I remember from this movie:
"You. Are. MAMA!"
Same,I always liked the theory that explains that Arceus’ 1,000 arms are actually the Unown.

I loved rewatching my VHS copy of this movie as a kid ☺️
I still remember going to blockbuster to return the vhs copy
4:57 I didn't see it as QUIET that forced as since they were no longer feeding Molly's fantasies, all that power had nowhere to go.
I rewatched this cos I remembered liking it as a kid, the music when Misty battles Molly goes super hard
This is my favourite Pokémon movie the scene with the Unowns just had hit different
Molly just wanted back his dad.
This makes me think that most of the other pages are just things designed specifically for this movie only
Very much from the perspective of "the world is big and who knows what creatures live in it" it's definitely not supposed to foreshadowing at all
If I was good at drawing and if I started animation I would possibly make my own take on this adding more lore and depth to this movie while keeping the dark tones of the original intact.
Love these videos about the movies Bro hope they keep coming !
@@kirara2516 I recall seeing it somewhere, and it was actually a pretty good episode.
It also had one of Ash's better character moments in the series.

Yes! Please continue! I love your movie analyses.
This was honestly a great movie and it hits ya in the heart when Entei leaves
I actually wonder if Unown come from the same reality as the Ultra Beasts. Which explains how they're so powerful.
Remember when Pikachu was actually strong?
Thought her mom was dead or stolen by the Unown?
That’s the case in the Dub, but not the Japanese version. Admittedly, the Dub’s rewrite keeps Molly sympathetic, and makes the mother’s reappearance alongside Spencer less ‘out-of-the-blue’ and coincidental than the Japanese version.
Man, rewatching some of those scenes almost made me cry.

Loved the soundtrack, particularly the theme that plays when Ash takes back his mother.
Can you talk about the mirage master and his mirage pokemon
It got Legend of Thunder but that's classified as a special rather than a movie

Down to the artificial being (Entei/the AIs) sacrificing themselves to save everyone
I never knew this Pokémon 3 is darker than the first movie.
The thing about the unknown is that they are really weak individually but when theres a massive group of them working together they can alter reality
They fully unleashed Charizard’s potential in the fight against Unknown Entei seriously my favorite Pokémon movie and Fight scene 👍🏽
Nostalgia ride here I go
The important part of the Unown's power is that they have to be in large enough groups to edit the world.
In computing terms, Molly's cluster of unown are reprogramming the rest of them, resulting in her fantasy world expanding.
Now that you mention it, papa entei looks like he can cook a mean burger during Sunday bbqs 😂
My head canon is one unown is weak but a swarm of them is very powerful. It's more like a bee, hive mind thats only very deadly when large in numbers
I saw this movie when it first came out and I had a vague recollection of all the AMVs on old RUclips back in the day
Agree with you!
Molly and Arven would have a lot to talk about. Except Molly's parents returned...
This was actually my first Pokemon movie, and I wasn't even into the show at this time. I was a Digimon fan until this movie and shortly after, getting Pokemon Gold for Christmas. I can happily say my life was never the same after that- Pokemon continues to be one of my favorite worlds to this day!
This My favorite pokemon movie since I was little
I watched this movie multiple times in childhood
Honestly unown could be an easy fix in the game.
Give unown an secret ability that enhances it's base stats the more unown alphabet you have captured in-game. If you have A-Z then your unown is NO joke. Maybe give it a special Tapu style field visual whenever it's on the field? But make the field contain all the unowns floating around the background ?
This also works rather well because the games...well,the older games, make you need HMs to reach sections where some unown alphabets can be caught anyway. Meaning you can't reach full power Unown til you have all you can actually reach certain locations.
1:34 Papa Entie, the original Pokemon Daddy IM WEAK
I would say all the offscreen deaths in the first movie makes it darker than the third movie.
Genuinely an awesome movie. Rotten Tomatoes did it dirty.
Charizard vs Entei was great but it hurt us all when he lost 😂
