I love how they think that showing people die in gruesome ways automatically makes it more “mature” 😂 like there’s different approaches to being “mature” really
the opposite happens as well. Like puss in boots last wish. It's childish animated movie, yet the story is deep and deals with fear of our own mortality.
HEHEHEHEHE we got Netflix's show out of trending! OINK OINK OINK -Cancel Pigs *one day later* Netflix avatar the last airbender is number one in trending again REEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! - Cancel Pigs
@@sunbleachedangelWell, even judging mainly by profit, The Lion Kind 2019 made around 1.6 bilion with a roughly 200 milion budget, making for around 8 times the production cost. The original made a billion from a 45 milion budget, not even taking in the changes adjusted with inflation. Around 20 times more than the production cost. Can you see the difference?
For real though! And they never needed to "make it more adult" when there were adults that already liked the show. My mom loved watching it with my brother and I growing up. She even went with my brother to see the movie that shall not be named and even SHE was upset and disappointed.
@@joshbuoy8661Yeah, I think I'd probably reword OP's point to. "The cartoon made little kids feel like they were being treated like adults, the live action makes adults feel like they are being treated like children."
Showing the deaths didn’t impact or add any depth to franchise at all, it just screams "we showed the nomads getting burned to death look how more edgy and mature we are"
Meanwhile the implications of the cartoon are actually more intense, because Gyatso died in a room full of DEAD firenation soldiers. Let's just think about that for a bit and remember that usually, if you win a battle, you bury your dead back home. Those dudes were abandoned to die in what I am only assuming, was the largest pure vacuum Gyatso could make. No air in their lungs, no air to burn, struggling to overpower an old man physically while he choked them all out, including himself. Sozen looked sick as hell in that live action, but I'll take the subtle haunting question of the source material over that hands down.
It honestly made me so uncomfortable because it felt like they were taking morbid enjoyment in showing a genocide. Like it was them patting themselves on the back for being so gritty and dark. I especially hated watching Gyatso die defending children because that means that he died failing to save the lives of the air nomad children. They would’ve been slaughtered right after. I get that “that’s realistic!” or “it’s showing the horrors of war!” but it just felt like an ego-stroking edgelord decision and one I am personally not a fan of. I don’t need to see the tragedy to feel its impact. I think it works better to have Aang wake up 100 years later with no knowledge of the actual day’s events and to just see the remnants and feel that emptiness and loss. To him, only a few days had passed, and everything changed.
And I think the way monk gyatso is tells he probably defeated the fire nation soldiers, but died of his wounds, wich, to me, makes it so much more tragic, they didn't even burn him to death, he just sat down waiting ti die, knowing the others fled or died
@@mikefisher4051 I can't even say Sozin looked impressive. If its about raw power output then Ozai's column of flame was far more impressive. If its about technique... him vs Gyatso ws yet another laser clash trope moment. The live action's air nomad genocide scene has no reason to exist.
@@stroud9811This Videos title is the same ol (you can't adapt Avatar) if people had that mindset when adapting The Lord Of The Rings trilogy those movies would have never been made! Blame the person/production/vfx artists/writers responsible for adapting the source material not the source material!
@@theechidna2916I'm not a fan of LOTR but even I know that those movies are incredibly well made and are detailed and impactful and have changed and inspired many things about fantasy. Avatar the original show did the same, the original source material is a work of love and passion, of course there's flaws in both but the quality of the experience 100% makes up for any small flaws. The fact that those LOTR movies and the original Avatar series are so well received and loved even today is just a testament to how good they really are. The Live Action Avatar series on the other hand is wrong in almost every regard, it can't even really be compared to the original because it's a completely different thing, same as the movie although nowhere near as awful. The Live Action series unlike the LOTR and original Avatar series, will not be fondly remembered for almost Two decades after its showcase on screen and will either only be remembered for how badly it did or will be forgotten in under a Year.
One thing you didn't mention that literally made my jaw drop when I was watching the Netflix show was that Aang just says he wants to go on a little flight to clear his head, vs the original where Aang is so afraid of being the Avatar that he decides to run away. It may seem trivial, but it's a MASSIVE change to his inner turmoil. Not to mention that effing spirit world Gyatso literally absolves him of all guilt later in the show. Smh
It also removes a big part of the main characters agency. Instead of Aang CHOOSING to run off and suffer the consequences, it makes the whole thing just feel like happenstance. Aang can't be at fault if he just wanted to clear his head. Even if his agency showed him to be selfish...that's a good thing! That's a complex character! It shows that aang understood that responsibility and was SCARED. Which makes it all the more satisfying when he does accept himself!
yeah and honestly this confuses me because in the remake they treat him like a coward when he didn’t really run away scared this time. he legit was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, for some reason. such a random detail to change and takes away from aang’s journey
I also don’t fully understand why people are mad at Aang for disappearing…i feel like it would have seemed like the Avatar got killed along with the other airbenders. In the original, it never seemed to me like the comet was the same day that Aang ran away… which makes sense that the airbenders would have been searching for Aang and word getting out that the Avatar ran away.
@@chrysalis46 Like I can imagine him being a new king and going through a hard time, becoming resentful about his duty, "this would never happen if Aang is still around and he just disappeared but I still have to be here dealing with a war" type of thing. But then he realized he couldn't blame Aang at all, who in his assumption died in the genocide when they were just kids. Then as he got older he wisened up, while also becoming the King Bumi we saw in the og, instead of resenting Aang after decades of his friend's supposed death.
I love that Bumi was just so happy to see Aang again 100 years later in the original show. He didn’t resent his friend for leaving, Bumi probably feared Aang died with the other Airbenders.
He showed his love the only way he knew best, by trapping his friends and threatening to kill them and him and forcing him to take on normally deadly and incredibly difficult tasks.
The fact they just fucking tell Aang that the air nomads were killed off is criminal. Seeing it at the southern air temple in the original is devastating, both for Aang and the audience. The line “I really am the last air bender” holds so much weight to it.
To make the "Southern Air Temple" adaptation worse, what Katara does say to Aang after he exits the Avatar State is some generic tripe about how trauma happens to make you strong. It's so absolutely insulting to Katara's character, she would never say that. That sounds like something Jet might say to Katara, maybe she'd even momentarily believe it hearing it from him, but it's not something that Katara would think and worse SAY TO AANG IN HIS MOMENT OF VULNERABILITY. "It's okay that everyone you love is dead because you're so STRONG now." It's awful.
I don't really get why some writers think that having every character being cynical and depressed is a way to be more "mature" and "real". When in reality, it only serves to make everything so drained of life to the point where it becomes "I'm 14 and this is deep" territory.
It's because they've been taught that the majority of their American audience lacks media comprehension so they dumbed it down for the majority. They don't understand the value of making something that would last the test of time.
It sure didn't need modernizing, but if it never needed a live action adaptation in the first place, I'm not going to bother. Not only is the mindset of "live action is more mature and less childish" insufferable, they literally spoon feed everything to the audience and explaining how they should feel.
@@zaadus112Aang makes like 2 waves and a wirlpool in Book 1 in the show. Its not at all an issue to skip that untill book 2. Christ what are you guys cry babys.
No they didn't forget. They literally told us outright, and even had him fly around without a glider because I guess he's just so powerful that he literally defied the rules and logic of airbending
And like they didn’t really save that much time when you look at the actual numbers. Like about 40 minutes. If they had done the first season exactly but removed two of the “filler” episodes (if you think of any of the episodes as filler), then they would have the same amount of filming and acting. More locations and characters would be needed, but then again why do we need a 1:1 recreation of the show when the show is already there and amazing
I think this is the part in the live action that upset me for most. In the cartoon the whole gaang goes in the cave and then we get the small spark of Aang and Katara's love when it's implied that they kiss and the light shows them the way out. In the live action they were like "cave of two lovers huh? ehh whatever we'll just send the brother and sister in there. Family love is the same thing as romantic love, right?" So stupid.
They were afraid of implying any romantic relation of Aang and Katara … obviously due to the age difference. But they completely failed at developing or showing us any chemistry between Katara, Aang, and Sokka…we rarely saw the 3 together on screen for more than 5 mins….
@@Lixx143V I really don't see why the age would be such a big problem, since romance in this show is maximum a kiss on the cheek, the kiss on the lips came much later. What is so wrong about kissing? It's not like they are gonna get naked and have sex every 5 minutes like in any other shows
The netflix show is number 1 in trending with the expected views. It is not a failure at all. Your bubble here on the internet is just a loud minority.
@@RK-cj4oc Imagine if the creators of Netflix avatar actually put this budget into something new that could possibly rival the Og show? Nah, let’s just do the bare minimum. Also, I expect another remake of Avatar in 10 years!
There's a famous interview clip of Mark Hamill saying that one of the main reasons he voiced Firelord Ozai was beacuase the show never talked down to the auidence inspite of it being a "kids show".... Think it's fair to say Mark Hamill would never have voiced Ozai if this was the script
You know the best thing about LA Avatar? Everyone and their mom stepping up to highlight how great the OG is and making videos about it. Keep that sweet juicy Avatar content coming, baby 😂
lol yeah, the other day i watched all 8 eps of the live-action show, and now i'm watching the original again because watching the live-action crap made me miss the original lol
Not me binging the original show this week and when not watching the show, watching RUclips videos on the show haha. I’m 30 now and watched the OG when I was 26. It’s now my favorite show ever made
I just wish people would get that animation is a medium and not a genre. It's really telling how people always wish for animated films and shows to be adapted into live action but it is never the other way around.
My mom fundamentally cannot empathize with cartoon characters. She's well educated, has definitely analysed books and their themes, but slap a cartoon face on it? Nope, no feeling. These kinds of people exist and are why a LOT of movies get things dumbed down. It's tragic.
@@WhatIsMyPorpoiseit makes me so mad because that view and feeling around animatione is definitely culturally taught-not innate to a person. my dad is similar, it sucks as an artist who cares so much about animation as a medium
The new Scott Pilgrim is a reimagining, not an adaptation. Imo the live action was fantastic, though not (neccessarily) because of the live action aspect.
My favorite line was when Iroh was telling the crewmate the story of Zuko's banishment and when he tells him that Ozai sent Zuko away with division 41, the guy says "wait, but we're division 41" I couldnt stop laughing. They spelled it out AND had a character say it.
I get it makes a nice link with the crew but in the animated show they didn't even state that they were the same people he argued for cause he didn't need to, any soldier would have heard that story and felt immediate respect for zuko. While I like that they are it feels like it was a bit of fanservice sort of thing to draw attention away from any flaws
It was like they were saying DO YOU GET THAT ZUKO IS ACTUALLY GOOD? DO YOU GET IT? ARE YOU SURE? Maybe we should add another scene about how Zuko HAS to capture Aang to earn his father’s love, maybe he can say that DIRECTLY to Aang, that way they’ll definitely get it It was so painful
I swear it's a beautiful scenario, but they mucked it up with what you mentioned, as well as a full monologue explaining it's themes not even 10 seconds after the crux of the moment hit smh.
Honestly I never made that connection in the original, but they could have done that naturally. Like some higher up fire nation guy calling back (some of) the troops and (some of) them refusing, saying they fight for Zuko, without telling why. Then you could clearly show them when Zuko stands up for them in the past, without giving them dialogue, to make the connection. It can be clear without being spelled out!
Iroh is the personified spirit of the series in the original show. He's a lighthearted, wise, and caring man The way they wrote him in the Netflix series just saddens me
Some people like LA Iroh but tbh I just couldn’t connect with him. Maybe it was the writing of the dialogue, but it felt so stiff to me. He didn’t feel like Iroh to me. I missed Iroh’s jolliness, his levity. That was part of what made him so complex in the cartoon. He used to be a bad man, a general who fought and killed in the name of the Fire Nation’s colonization. But now he’s a jolly, wise, enlightened soul who loved his nephew as his own and is playing the long game to not only guide and support his nephew’s redemption, but contribute to saving the world and restoring balance and redeeming himself, too. There was also a moment I disliked in episode 1 where Zuko is training and Iroh praises him, when the equivalent in the cartoon is Zuko being too volatile and angry and Iroh giving him a teachable moment about how fire comes from the breath, not the muscle/power, and tells him to run the drill again. It’s a moment that shows Zuko’s hot-headedness and Iroh’s wise, firm instruction very well, but the LA completely upturns it and just….doesn’t understand.
I've seen a lot of people praise the scene of his son's funeral. But I think they rushed to show it too soon. In the og the the leaves of the vine scene hits too hard because Iroh is presented as this silly, wise, kindhearted yet powerful old man that serves as a guide to the mc's. He stands out from all the cold-heart fire nation soldiers. So when that scene plays out you see one of the sweetest chatacters in tv crying while also understanding he went through a lot to be the kind hearted man he is.
@@Francisco-bu9ewI sympathise with this idea but I approach it with the same way I approach the idea people say of Ozai being shown too soon. For long time fans, that moment is never going to hit a second time. You've already experienced it, you know it's coming. I don't think I'd have enjoyed Iroh's backstory reveal anymore if they pretended even longer like I didn't already know it. I can't imagine a huge number of people who've seen the show never saw the animated series.
I’m willing to take a “remaster” at this point. Upscaling the cartoon to 4k is all I ask. They’ll just ruin this franchise in other forms of adaptation
I would love to see some of the canon comics animated with modern tech. That would be so cool assuming they get the og storyboarders back (or at least people with equivalent talent. They need that marital arts choreography!)
I rewatched the cartoon and oof, the jagged lines of the characters from the first few eps were really hard to ignore. A remaster is definitely much more needed than whatever the hell netflix cooked up.
Yesss ATLA with the quality of Korra would be so good. ATLA is just as HQ but they couldn't export it as smoothly back then. Give me the 'blueray release', cowards!!
I think some tvs have built in AI to upscale resolutions but they're usually pricey oleds. Also i think netflix's is in 4k if you have the premium subscription.
Imo Avatar can be properly adapted, the problem is that the people working on these adaptations don’t care enough, lack imagination, or don’t understand what made the original series so great.
Tbh i am not a fan of recreating masterpieces. I would be much more of a fan if this was just a continuation or an adaptation of kyoshi novels for example. The second would be better. Because tbh the ending in atla was kind of disappointing and rushed, and any continuation wouldn't worth it to be made. And yes i am gonna say something controversial, but metalbending makes the show unbalanced from that point after, because it makes the non benders irrelevant and the earthbenders very OP. In atla non benders with some ingenuity and weapons could deal with most benders, but in korra for example everyone except earthbenders is weak in comparison. The comics are kinda dumb and somewhat off character. The only character the comics really developed well was ozai. So in conclusion whatever they are to make it better be something out of some book or some modification of the comics since the original stands very well on it's own. Except the ending.
The saddest part for me is that there are people out there who think that Netflix live action was good. Not “enjoyable” but “good”. I found one video arguing that the live action was good and the whole video was about how the guy “enjoyed” it despite shortcomings. I guess the definition of “good” these days is, “not as bad as the Shyamalan ATLA”. The copium is hard.
i think people calling it "good" is a volatile mixture of low expectations, dubious familiarity with the source material, and riding a high road they've paved for themselves
Tastes and colours... I get why some people could like that. Just like how some people like fast food or korean music. We all know it is shyte, but some will still like it and it is fine, that s how the world is.
Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean other people can't find it to be great. I grew up watching the series, and binged it with my fiance last year; I thoroughly enjoyed the Netflix version. While generally no remake is as good as its source, you also can't expect a 1:1 copy. Sure, some things were weird and different, but overall the Netflix series has fans that it deserves. Saying that people shouldn't be allowed to consider it good as their opinion is what sets apart people who can appreciate new things and people who don't give chances.
@@SciffyTheJiffy i ve seen no one asking for 1:1 adaptation. But when some character arcs are butchered, changing the core of the story (aang coming to term with his guilt and responsabilities, sokka understanding the bigger world and questionning his beliefs, katara dealing with grief and bending etc...) Once all the character progression is taken out, there s just an empty shell left, not an "adaptation". But the visuals are okay, so at least there is some shiny things...
I discovered ATLA in elementary school while season 2 was still airing, and, after I talked his ear off about it, my supportive dad watched it with me. He still adores this show just as much as I do, and has many times reflected that, “when you first mentioned it I was thinking it was just another cartoon but the more you talked about it, and especially once I saw it, I knew it was incredibly special.” When a 40 year old man and a 7 year old kid love something equally as much, it’s a huge testament to how universal and well-executed the media must be. The original is truly irreplaceable.
Similar with me. My brothers' kids watched the show with my brother. Then they visited my house, and I started watching it with them. It worked for a dad, kids, and a college student because it's a good, well written, show appropriate for any of them.
I love this. I was watching it on tv when it came out and my uncle was walking around behind me and I could feel him stop to check it out every few minutes until he finally ended up on the couch watching it with me and he continued to watch all the new episodes with me. He’d be jumping off the couch hollering about how cool the show was and is definitely still a huge fan. The original show brought people together.
I honestly thought it was still really cool seeing this world in live action. I would’ve loved if they told an original story if they really wanted to make a live action avatar show instead of retelling something that was already done perfectly
Right, for all the shots that really needed a retake, the overall art direction was stunning and felt like an awesome recreation guided by a genuine love for the og show. But if they wanted to tell a more “adult”, visceral version of the story, they could’ve just given us a Kyoshi miniseries and then there’d be no direct comparison to an original show to highlight any huge flaws it might have.
I think this style of story writing is a symptom of the impatient society we’ve developed in the last few years. There’s no time to be curious, to be bored, to have questions to ponder… we want everything, everywhere, all at once. The live action show feeds the audience exactly what we “need”, but it’s not as mentally stimulating as it requires no real thought.
I always try to see the development of society through a positive lense, but with the animated movie slog from the highest brands in Hollywood, and even more with the rise of AI generated images, I can't say I disagree. The amount of 5 second videos captioned 'wait for it' are so telling. People really need to be humbled. Maybe we should all be forced to cook a meal that takes all day to make but tastes like nothing else and gets shared with your loved ones, or something.
I like to compare it to "old life" back in early 2000s and before. When you had question that your parents didnt have answer to, either you go to library(if its work hours) and spend time there sesrching for answer, or you literally wait for next day to ask your teacher or friends or whoever. Nowadays its 3 clicks on phone and 0 patience
We need to quit blaming audiences for this. It's mostly the economics of streaming + filmmaking rn. They take these enormous financial gambles & if it doesn't have an audience by the 8th episode they kill it + move on bc they can write it off & they need numbers for shareholders 4x a year. The style of storytelling in popular film + TV/digital these days is focus group-honed to reach the largest potential audience, & everything as explicit/fast/spectacle as possible bc they assume you're watching with another screen open, like your phone or laptop --- this is what people keep calling "dumbed down" but it's a strategy to keep people watching without losing the storyline if they dick around online at the same time. Which is what the focus groups tell these megacorporations people tell them they are doing while watching shows. It's anti-art, these giant companies demand a massive blockbuster once a quarter & there's no room in the market for several medium or small niche shows with niche audiences people can grow alongside with instead, just huge IPs + "product + content" being milked by huge companies who won't make shows that aren't huge bc they only invest huge money now & see a return within a year. It's sad bc we had an explosion of creativity when the streaming model was trying to prove it was better than TV then all these companies cannibalized each other & turned streaming into the same model as superhero blockbusters. It'll change. Support US anti-trust legislation if you want it to change faster. People are sick of it but the executives don't see a way out; they are locked to their wheel. Break up the big companies so smaller productions get made more, so you have films/shows from artists, not only executives.
I watched this show when it first aired and I'll forever be grateful that Mike and Bryan trusted my little 6 year old brain to piece together their story without explaining it to me. I think they were willing to risk children not understanding the show in service of telling a good story. The writers of the new show think i'm a brain dead idiot who cant understand a story without having my hand held the whole time
Fr. These videos are about movies and shows that are coming out right now and right now we’re in an age of sequels and adaptations (which are most often pretty bad). So having negative videos about bad movies and shows is completely understandable. And it’ll only make it more fun when a good movie or TV show comes out :)
it doesn’t need adapted, it doesn’t need remade, it’s not a video game on a dead console that hasn’t been sold in 30 years, it’s not some inaccessible silent film from an era long past, it’s perfectly capable of telling its story on its own,
Art shouldn't be made only because it's needed. That's a corporate mindset. The original show wasn't even needed. If someone one day ACTUALLY has a real vision for a live action ATLA they should make it as a piece of art, because art isn't needed.
@@mr.iiconic these remakes in and of themselves are a corporate mindset. they are not often made as art for the sake of it. theyre made off of very popular things that a lot of people have a lot of nostalgia for because itll make whoevers making it a lot of money. if that werent the case itd be a different story, but given all the shit disneys done, i dont believe it is. they dont care about making good retellings. they never have.
@@bumbabees you may be correct. I didn't mean to argue in favour that the show IS a passion project, but saying we don't "need" a piece of art is bad a mindset to have.
“Feeling more cartoonish than the actual cartoon” sums it up really well. Unfortunately, some people think this level of writing works…They don’t seem to understand how the animated show is more wholesome it can never be rewritten or rebooted cuz it’s so full of connectivity throughout the show. If the animation was so complicated for them, it means that they’re not able to understand a cartoon that they still claim to be only for kids….. (Even I know those words are very contradicting cuz it really doesn’t make sense)
I really don’t understand why the show runner thought the animated series was not mature enough. This show introduces its child audience to the idea of an entire people and culture being destroyed in its earliest episodes.I was 10 when I learned the basic definition of genocide and it was from a cartoon.I understood it because the writing of this show respected me enough to explain it.
They should've made a Kyoshi series instead. Expand the worlbuilding, show the consequences of Kyoshi actions as the Avatar such as the militarization of the fire nation etc. It would fit the Game of Thrones aesthetic they wanted to make. It could've been something new and unique... but they went the lazy way lol
@@leaffinite2001 Right!? We should all create a community where fans write their own stories using those characters we love be it screenplays, comics, shortfilms etc
It's more than that. There's a myth going around that they're about the same length but this isn't taking into account that every episode of atla og had less than 30 seconds of credits in total across 20 episodes in the season, making for about 10 minutes of credits. The Netflix shows has an insane 6 or so minutes of credits per episode, creating a total of 48 minutes of credits. That's 38 less minutes added into it, plus the 20 you mentioned to make 58 and it's practically an entire hour less. The Netflix show should have been 13 episodes.
I’m so tired of all these live-action remakes. It seems like Hollywood execs think animation can’t be taken seriously. “So if we take this really good story from animation and put it in live-action it’ll be even better!!!” But in reality they’re robbing the art of some of the magic that made it special.
Well, since Avatar Studios has been teasing an animated film set after the events of ATLA with everyone as adults, I think it's time to see more of what animation is capable of from the people who know how to write the characters.

I think remaking animated shows into live action series is also a symptom of a really big problem in hollywood: IP farming. There's a significant lack of original movies and TV shows nowadays, esp with companies like Disney relying on live action adaptations so they can milk it dry with new toys and merchandise. I feel like something similar to that is happening with this series :( Also forever gonna be gagged at the fact the original creators of ATLA left this disappointment of a show 💀

One of my favorite lines from the OG show is when Aang in being captured and lead into the fire navy ship, and just before the door closes, he tells Katara "take care of Appa for me until I get back." Like, Aang is literally being captured by the fire nation, but doesn't see it as a big deal at all. Not only does he not take his situation seriously, but he knows he's not gonna be captured for long.
I got 2 episodes in, i was just so mad at how badly they did the environment of the water tribe. And as someone who loves costumes, its not fair how bad katara and sokkas were. And suki! When she wipes off her makeup to reveal a full face of makeup 😂
@dikhed1983 Blame entitled (and also bad) writers who want to make Avatar their own story, instead of honoring the work of someone who is much better at their job than they are.
@aithjawcraig9876 I think there was a lack of care in a lot of the production. I wouldn't be surprised if the studio interfered in the writing, and gave the set design and costume creators less time or a smaller budget than they needed. ☹️
There were just so many baffling choices made in the Netflix Series. Why introduce Azula and her gang when we already have enough villians to follow with both Zuko and Zhao? Why essentially swap Zuko and Azula's backstory and make Azula the underdog? Why cut out almost all of the group bonding between the main group? It makes every interaction where their friendship comes up feel incredibly forced. Why make Zhao a bumbling moron when he would've been a perfectly serviceable villian if you just left his character alone? Why change the way the airbenders were killed? Is it really so unbelievable for the biggest military power at the time to execute a four pronged attack? Why combine the Omashu, Jet, and Northern Air Temple stories? They don't mesh well together at all. Why make Bumi a spiteful dick? Why make Katara a master waterbender from the beginning? It was the driving force for a lot of character development in the original and removing it makes her character the blandest in the show by far. The "I see you've found a master," moment between Katara and Zuko just doesn't work since Katara has just always been that good. Why gut the Hei Bai arc and add all the random nonsense about the Face Stealer. Why change the backstory of the moon and ocean spirits so that they never gave up their imortality to live on earth. Why make it so that Aang can only use his spirit powers at specific shrines? If you liked the adaptation, good for you. It's at least better than the movie. But it is an inferior product to the cartoon in almost every way. No wonder the original creators left the project.
crazy how a show that came out in 2005 was way ahead of its time and any attempts to make it "modernized" or having different adaptation just falls apart, it really shows you how perfect the show is
I hated it, honestly. Its not like you have to adapt frame by frame in order to be good BUT the essential themes/arcs of the OG must be maintained and yet they couldn't even do that. Just imagine how incredible it would've been if Netflix's huge budget was used to re-animate a 2004 cartoon with 2024 technology (like Arcane and Blue Eye Samurai levels! -or even build up on Korra's) and it would be much easier to perfect it even more. But no, it had to be live freaking action... PS: I will be sending this video to every single person i was blasting with a text version of the comparison between the first episodes lol. Like fr the changes are in vital points, they even cut Aang replaying to Zuko "and you are just a teenager". Anyway, thanks Nick.
A shot for shot, line for line adaptation seems pretty pointless to me since it would just be a slightly worse looking product due to the limits of reality. In general I would say avatar didn't need any kind of adaptation of the main story whatsoever I mean in terms of problems the show has what? A few bad episodes and that one turtle plot point at the end? Does that warrant a new show? There are a few more scenes with azula? Does that really need a new show rather than some tie in comic or the such?
@@saviorbobI don't really understand the mentality that we should only tell stories that NEED to be told. Stories should be told that someone wants to tell, regardless of what's needed. I just feel like, y'know, we never needed avatar in the first place, it wasn't mandated by a studio, it was made because someone had a vision. If someone one day has a true vision for a live action ATLA, they should make it. Good art was never needed in the first place, y'know?
@@mr.iiconicI would say there's a difference between an original work and an adaptation. If it's going to profit off the name it can pay the price of comparison.
The moment I saw the article about the original writters quiting I knew this was going to be a big mess. Not only they saw the mess building up, they knew there wouldn't be any salvation for the project.
NGL they are overrated. Avatar was never just 2 guys, it was hundreds of impassioned animators and writers that you and nobody ever give the time of day for creating some of the greatest parts of the show. We should not hedge our every thought on what they do.
them starting w the backstory is the most illogical and most boring way they couldve ever started the show like it feels liek theyre just changing it to change it cuz its already PERFECT😭
Yeah, the first episode should’ve been the second one to give time to breathe and have some form of mystery about who this boy is and what happened according to AANG and not the plot. It would’ve been better to start with Sokka’s and Katara’s family in the southern tribe and their daily life, let Katara be herself and argue with Sokka from time to time then him goofing off not taking her seriously because he is a «warrior ». AND then they go fishing because food is lacking in the village because without enough men, they go through periods of famine. THEN Sokka pisses Katara off one more time and she gets off on him about her responsibilities since their parents are gone and she hates his disrespect. That breaks the iceberg. But it’s AANG who takes time to retell how he learned that he was the Avatar and don’t know where he is and wants to go back home. That’s when Katara tells him that there’s no «home » and she’s deeply sorry and maybe they have an emotional moment together. While we the spectators get through some of episode 1 moments with Gyatso and the fire Nation attack. They mixed up things in such a weird way that I would say 90% of the scenes where Aang talks about being the Avatar and his duty should’ve been deleted. Maybe replace them with Zuko search of the Avatar from the moment he was banished and how anger built up into him to the point of being a villain. But no, they did this mess.
One thing people have mentioned is that people are angrier about Aang disappearing, but Aang is less culpable for disappearing - in the cartoon, Aang actively ran away from his responsibilities, and while people are bitter about it generally, they understand that he’s here now pretty quickly. Meanwhile, live action Aang just needed to “clear his head” when he got caught in the storm, while people like Bumi and Sokka are actively angry about Aang disappearing. Why? Lol
This is literally ChatGPT. Anyone who's played around in ChatGPT with long form storytelling knows the damn thing doesn't have an imagination and expositions everything through dialogue via pulling from wikis.
Why did Aang go into the avatar state at the southern air temple? Because he still had hope his people were around, and seeing Gyatsos skeleton confirmed they’re all gone. IMO he should have gone into the avatar state when Gran Gran told him they’re all dead, or at least have had a much more extreme reaction. He didn’t even cry or really anything. Just hours ago in his point of view he was with all his friends, and then he’s woken up and told they’re all gone.
I watched Avatar during covid, and despite knowing it was a kids' show and never watching it while it was airing, it still left a big impact on me. You mentioned One Piece and its live-action adaptation, which is kind of interesting. One of One Piece's, and Oda's biggest strengths when it comes to his storytelling and character development is his mastery over "show, don't tell", which seemed to transition over to the live-action somewhat; they show character development with their actions and expressions, just like the original series (albeit there's less time for character development since there's only 8 episodes and limited time). Yet with Avatar, they couldn't, or more likely didn't want to do that, despite the fact that Netflix already showed that they CAN do it.
The worst change by far is the absolute character assassination that has taken place against Katara. When I showed my friend the original show for the first time earlier this year, they remarked that a lot of people would call the show woke garbage if it came out today because of how Katara is written. This is, of course, because she's very opinionated and strong on her own and is prone to blow up on people and has snark to her. That's what makes her interesting and likable. How is she portrayed in the live action show? Let me use the most telling example: how she handles Pakku. In the live action, she goes to argue with Pakku and gives up pretty easily and looks defeated. She then complains to Aang, who actually weirdly takes Pakku's side. After this she goes to Sokka, a MAN, who has to tell her to go fight Pakku. In the original show, she constantly argues against it. When it gets too far, she decides herself to go fight Pakku, AGAINST the advice of the men in the group. She talks shit and then fights him and it's badass because we see her get mistreated and she chooses to fight for herself. The showrunners made a big deal about removing the Sokka sexism arc, but honestly the show is MORE misogynistic. Katara's character is no longer strong and fun and likeable, she is a character that is now written blandly in an effort to not piss off the type of men who get mad when fictional women are too outspoken.
I absolutely agree and have said this. By avoiding Sokka’s sexism, the show itself just is extremely sexist. Katara is reduced to a passive woman that needs the confirmation, opinions, and guidance of her male counterparts. In the Netflix version, Aang teaches her water bending, when that is the complete opposite of the OG show. In the OG one, Katara asks Aang for help, but he admits he knows nothing about it. Then they learn together, but with Katara being more passionate about water bending, she then teaches Aang. The fact that they made her a total pleb in the live action is heart breaking and a horrible shame to such a powerful female character.
Wrong. We don't hate strong female characters, we hate bad strong female characters. That is a big difference. In the original Katara was strong and talented, but she was flawed and that is was made her a good character. Even though she was talented we still saw her struggle with bending due to her anger problems and impatiance. In Netflix adaptation however we only stratch the surface of Katara's complexity. 2 years ago House of Dragons came out and there are strong and complex female characters, but I didn't saw any complains. How so? Please for the love of god stop with these stupid takes.
@antigua2728 Honestly I still see people make dumb comments about shows and films being "woke" over non white or female characters who are written perfectly fine. You see how people constantly talk about how everything is "political" nowadays, despite tons of shows being political in the past, even more so. Avatar is an example of one of them.
@@BratzRockAngels I see them too, but most of the time they have valid critique. Don't get me wrong, misogyny is bad, but don't confuse genuine critique with misogyny or racism. Of course there are bad apples in this basket too. I just don't understand why we can have Fire Nation burning people alive, screaming and shit, but Sokka can't be sexist for a while? Oh that is the moment of crossing the line? Really? If you don't see anything wrong with that then yeah...
i love these reviews because i am so bad at putting my emotions and toughts into words. so i just end up drowning in my emotions while people tell me it's just a show. thank you for putting into words the emotions i couldnt
What blows me away is that the mistakes of the LA version are just amateur mistakes. The original is a masterclass on how to deliver a dense fantasy without rushing or overwhelming the audience with proper names & exposition. The LA feels like someone trying to tell you about the OG show.
The way the show is shot really puts the viewer at a distance. Everything is framed with a long focal lens and a blurry background (hiding the flatness of the volume studio used on set). So every character has a close up every 5 seconds but it feels like we're watching them from afar, with binoculars. It's so rare to see a shot where they are all in frame and in focus that they never feel like a group, even less a family. It looks like someone watched a few youtube videos on how to make a shot look cinematic but never learned a single thing about composition or editing.
Netflix made me realize that bending will just never look as good in live action as it can in animation. The netflix show had good effects and everything but it was still leagues below the animation sequences. You have so much more freedom in stylization of how the elements can look and move and how the benders can move. You can have more interesting exaggerated poses. Live action is forced to adhere to more real world physics and I just don't think the best live action bending will ever look nearly as breathtaking as the best animated bending
They are trying to appease an audience that refuses to watch animation. pretentious people that measure their maturity by insulting animation as a childish medium. They probably believe Ghibli films can be ‘improved’ upon by having a live action treatment. Some things work BECAUSE of animation. Suspension of disbelief, physical humour, fantasy and surrealism lends itself to animation. I would be forever more charmed by Peter rabbit in 2d animation vs anyone animating a real rabbits lips to move or giving me a James cordon cg bunny. Will I be more impressed by spirited away if instead of an animated dragon or giant baby I get to see them rendered in cgi? Like…no. The animation and closely referenced to real life martial arts combines with the bending was so beautifully mastered in the cartoon with atla. Sifu kisu even mentioned some of the movements were just too difficult at times so in certain key frames one person would hold up another to get it. It is heightened reality.
@@surette2012Didn't know that about Sifu Kisu but it makes perfect sense. They use the medium to stretch reality to a point where gravity and physics still exist but these people are clearly doing things people can't do. And that allows them to get so imaginative and really push the fights to be so dynamic. And then even if you get the best martial artists on earth to do it in live action it'd look cool sure but then the elements are a factor too. I was just rewatching the Zuko v Azula agni kai and the way the fire moves, and crashes and billows and evaporates and glows is so beautiful to watch. In live action, firstly idk that you'd have the exact same granular control that you have in 2D animation and also that is not how fire looks or moves. I know what fire looks like, what it does, you couldn't make it look that artistic and gorgeous in live action because it still has to look like it belongs in the real world. I think there's just no way around it, live action is a lesser medium for element bending
@@pianist150 I agree. The transition to live action means you are asking the audience to stretch their belief to the max. You are now challenging them to believe what is real life fire vs sfx fire. With animation we give more artistic licence. In animation we believe we are seeing a kid flying and bending, with live action our brains know we are seeing a kid on a wire or a cgi person. Not to say live action and fantasy can’t join to make great content. Like with Hook: I know Robin William’s isn’t flying or it’s green screen, but I’m not a stick in the mud and as long as emotional beats and storytelling is strong and immersive I’m here for the ride. Anyway, I’m so amazed with sifu kisu that I’m convinced he could do all those crazy moves. to be fair, he suffered from injuries at times and they couldn’t always get him to do some crazy poses and movements. He would hold up Bryan and it’s rather funny to see those frames. I believe in the opening for Korra the last pose of aang air bending was a bit of a stretch so he just held Bryan so he could balance to do it. Bending involves people being pushed up by energy and elements and leaping 30 feet in the air so of course the reality is heightened and sadly our reality won’t let us recreate that without help.
They honestly could make it better than what they've shown but they're so stuck at making it as realistic as possible when they could just make it more magical. Make it have shape, make it move less like realistic water, and make it move like a thicker water or any other viscous liquid then make it realistic when it actually hits something. Even make it glow a little or have a different shift in color when it's being bended. They opted for realistic water with realistic textures. They could make other types of bending cooler but they opted for martial arts with a little bit of bending here and there. They can't even combine the two when essentially bending is martial arts with "magic"
This show felt like someone watched all of those "movie clips" on RUclips and tried to recreate the story based on those 2 minut slices without context. The most obvious sign of this was the moment when Katara fought Zuko in the Northern Water Tribe. Zuko says: "You've found a Master". In the original it made sense, it was after Katara trained with Paku after his change of heart. (A good arc, with a good message btw) In the Netflix version, Paku never agreed to teach her. She just mysteriously gained all of those skills. They've changed most of those great lessons. They're been given a perfect "women power" story, with Katara/Paku and Sokka/Suki, but they went with a modern dumb "all women show up with dramatic music". Even though it had no sense in the context they created. Those women had no fighting experience, but apparently they can now fight...
Ian Ousley was a really good Sokka imo. He sounds like him, looks like him (minus the skin tone) and when the script allows it, acts like him. Too bad the script was awful.
@phillnyetheplaylistguy3759 it's that thing new shows and movies have had for the past couple of years whereby the clothes don't look like clothes but got this weird clean look that reminds of you of cosplay and not something rough and lived in like the Lord of Rings or Pirates of the Caribbean costumes were.
@@-N0V4- I think you may have just fallen into the trap of hyperreality. You've seen so many desaturated, dirty and worn down clothes in fiction, that you think that's how it was in the past. However, oftentimes these are exaggerations. People wore durable, brightly coloured clothes in the past and regularly cleaned them!
They should just focus on making animated projects, at this point I don't think that live action is even necessary. Recently they've been teasing an animated film set after the events of ATLA with everyone as adults, and I'm way more hyped for that than I ever was for this show.
Showing the attack on the Air Nomads was a big mistake in my opinion. In the original there is the mid season reveal of Sozin's Comet. Then the rest of the series the audience is left to wonder just HOW powerful fire benders are under the comet. The live action reveals the answer before the audience even knows it's a question, and the answer is like 50% stronger than regular fire bending lmao
I was confused when Monk Gyatso, the best airbender in the world, was defeated so easily. We knew he would eventually die esp during the comet, but they made him seem more like a feeble old man
Also, the live action's potrayal of Sozin's Comet is...underwhelming, in a way? It's not the same kind of terrifying power with Ozai scorching entire fields worth of land in seconds. Without the previous context of how strong firebending usually is, the live action just makes the airbenders feel weak. But nooo... we had to have a 'cool' action scene of a genocide happening.
I'd say there was no difference; in the finale regular infantry's basic attacks were explosions and high pressure flamethrowers, then you had Ozai who could torch a cul-de-sac with one move. Not seeing the airbender genocide, then watching Ozai's opening strike during the comet, and putting two and two together, along with the haunting music really tells you all you need to know about the horror of what went down. Show, don't tell. And they did it while never showing what happened.
And just to add to this - imo it was way more terrifying/impressive when the Fire Nation pulled off a simultaneous genocide event in 4 separate locations instead of putting all of the airbenders together at once
@@mekannatarry1929 The firebending we see from Ozai at the series finale would have nuked the entire Air Temple in a single blast. The firebending we see at the beginning of Netflix Avatar doesn't even look any different from regular firebending in the original show.
I'm so glad that someone who deeply cares about ATLA, someone who I was able to know gets what makes the animation so incredibly impactful and near perfection was inspired to talk about this, even if it feels like ripping apart the adaptation. Because it means people still haven't forgotten what makes good storytelling. And we can't all be sold on low effort and nostalgia. And it's ok to have passion for keeping good stories around. Happy you felt the passion for this. Hope you are doing well.
It seems that they don’t understand that bending has to be channeled through actual martial art movements. So many of these clips are just a person straining with their hands out.
The craziest thing about this is that there's an interview out there with Gordon Cormier (Aang) names by MEMORY each of the martial arts the bendings are each based on. These actors know their shit and are being held back.
hey man, glad to see you're doing well. also thanks for the video! ik it's not easy to go back into video making right away but I just wanted to say I'm grateful for your content
You know? Even though is so water down and disconnected of the original, the general public is eating this series as if the original wasn't that great. Or even saying is so faithful, just because is better than the previous movie. They love it, The show is a success, so Netflix does not have motivation to make the show better if renwed. bummer.
Honestly, comparing the live action to the original kinda detracts from how AWFUL the writing actually is Like, when I was watching it I couldn't stop thinking "Damn, this is not as good as the original", but then I actually stopped to think about it for a minute and... it's not that this show is "not as good" as the original, it's just BAD on its own. The writing is attrocious, there's sooo much exposition and everything feels souless and devoid of life. The show literally shows you a genocide but it's more concerned about making it look cool with lots of action, and it just feels so meaningless. You wanted to portray that scene so badly and for what? Cool airbenders fighting with cool fire benders? And the end of the first episode too, it was just "we gotta show this cool scene where aang gets angry!" while removing all the emotional weight of such scene. I swear to god, it feels like something a highschooler would write.
Literally somebody came for me for nitpicking and being ‘not objective’ because nostalgia apparently causes people to not be fair in reviewing new adaptions. On its own it’s still uninspiring. If someone never watched the og the takeaway isn’t ‘omg best show ever!’ (Unless they are a tween making an edit of jet on TikTok) If anything they were impressed with the world because it’s novel to them and that’s where the admiration ended. The writing, reveals, chronological order, exposition, erasure of natural reveals, mystique and characters make for a dry and out of it experience. It doesn’t hold us in suspense, it basically outlined everything that would happen. It’s really condescending for people to think we should blindly like something and if not we’re incapable of fun or accepting new things. I was even playing devil’s advocate for this new show, i latched onto the things I liked to remain hopeful. I like zuko’s actor I liked the small additions to the 41st division, I liked the effects and omashu looked good, the critters looked good. I even defended azula’s characterization. I agree she shouldn’t be shown in s1, but her sycophantic and unstable need for perfection and daddy’s loyalty and love is within bounds of her character. Their BIG mistake is again, the chronological choice to reveal all that in s1 and destroying her charisma, presence and aura that she had in her s2 introduction. The show is not high on the rewatch list, though. I hate how media literacy is now and attention spans, it seems they curated a show to avoid bad faith interpretations so they kept it dry and safe and stripped characters down.
the craziest thing is that in the live action, aang never ran away. he just went for a casual bison ride to 'clear his head.' and intended to even come back. but its like they forgot he did that. he never once tried to explain "i didn't run!"
@@justincruz5720 One month? Nobody would notice lol. Just clickbait. Back in the day we would post "bump" in hopes of giving it some life and catching views.
Wow, it really robs the weight of Aang's despair and rage upon finding his friend and honored master dead at the hands of firebenders. It's a flawless, gut-wrenching bit of environmental storytelling that pretty obviously spells out what occurred there to anyone who spent just a little bit thinking about it. Gyatso is well and truly gone, Aang doesn't even have time to have these corny flashbacks thinking about him as he pretty much immediately breaks down. And robbing Katara and Sokka of the moment that solidifies their bond, being there for a loved one in the throughs of their agony.
Forever grateful to the kid in college who burned me a CD of the show because he loved it so much. I still think about him fondly even tho I never saw him again. 💙
Honestly, I'm so grateful to you, *24* *Frames* *of* *Nick.* After all my searching, I've finally found somebody that perfectly articulates how I feel about the Live Action. And I particularly love your take on King Bumi! It so disheartening hearing other people say that they kind of liked the change because it's more "realistic." But the whole point of King Bumi's character is to give Aang hope and inspire him to be a Free thinker, to not give into despair and to find answers to the problems he is dealing with by being creative, like Bumi had to during his reign as King over Omashu. Honestly, as I heard one RUclipsr put it, "Netflix's Live Action Avatar: The Last Airbender is the depressing reality of Adulthood."
Great explanation of the differences, people keep saying “you just love to hate” such a cop out for bad writing. They can’t even defend the show properly or say what makes it good, they say “just accept it at what it is” when it’s so disrespectful to the original.
Ironic how, in the lead-up to the release, everyone was speculating about how this live-action could go more in-depth on some of the details and realities of the world that were left out in the original, only for the actual thing to be a shallow and rushed story, not even half as deep as the original.
Slight nitpick, but i noticed in that Omashu intro scene, there's a package magically floating UP the delivery shute. the original show aang specifically says "they use earth bending to bring them up, and gravity to bring them down" showing on their way up they open the floors and close them almost like an elevator. Again this isn't a big deal but given how much fan service they attempt to smother us with to cover up their writing mishaps, I feel that scene alone gives a good idea of just how much they really pay attention to the why's and how's of the original source material.

Netflix’s Avatar Live Action Series was amazing, 9/1”
Showing the deaths didn’t impact or add any depth to franchise at all, it just screams "we showed the nomads getting burned to death look how more edgy and mature we are"
Yeah, it removes the focus from seeing Aang discover their remains later on, after we have already formed a strong connection to him as a character.

My favorite line was when Iroh was telling the crewmate the story of Zuko's banishment and when he tells him that Ozai sent Zuko away with division 41, the guy says "wait, but we're division 41"
I couldnt stop laughing.
Maybe we should add another scene about how Zuko HAS to capture Aang to earn his father’s love, maybe he can say that DIRECTLY to Aang, that way they’ll definitely get it
It was so painful
I swear it's a beautiful scenario, but they mucked it up with what you mentioned, as well as a full monologue explaining it's themes not even 10 seconds after the crux of the moment hit smh.
I noticed that soon. Disastrous way to sabotage your own scene.
He's a lighthearted, wise, and caring man
The way they wrote him in the Netflix series just saddens me
Some people like LA Iroh but tbh I just couldn’t connect with him.
A remaster is definitely much more needed than whatever the hell netflix cooked up.
yo now i need this, just a beat for beat repolishing
Yesss ATLA with the quality of Korra would be so good. ATLA is just as HQ but they couldn't export it as smoothly back then. Give me the 'blueray release', cowards!!
I think some tvs have built in AI to upscale resolutions but they're usually pricey oleds. Also i think netflix's is in 4k if you have the premium subscription.
Imo Avatar can be properly adapted, the problem is that the people working on these adaptations don’t care enough, lack imagination, or don’t understand what made the original series so great.
My vote is not understanding. There was certainly a lot of care that went into the LA show, it was just done very hamfistedly.
One piece worked
But do we really need an adaptation? What is the point, other than a cash grab?

EEAAO is the most refreshing movie in the last decades
I always try to see the development of society through a positive lense, but with the animated movie slog from the highest brands in Hollywood, and even more with the rise of AI generated images, I can't say I disagree. The amount of 5 second videos captioned 'wait for it' are so telling. People really need to be humbled.

They need female representation for feminism.

crazy how a show that came out in 2005 was way ahead of its time and any attempts to make it "modernized" or having different adaptation just falls apart, it really shows you how perfect the show is
I hated it, honestly.
I'D LOVE TO SEE AVATAR IN THE BLUE SAMURAI STYLE!!
Arcane level animation with a new true to the world story set before the Gaang would have been a dream come true honestly. So much potential there.
That was exactly when I gave up on this adaptation too
NGL they are overrated.
Why? Lol
Absolutely piss poor writing by people who have no business taking on this project who clearly don't understand the project they paid to make.
This is literally ChatGPT. Anyone who's played around in ChatGPT with long form storytelling knows the damn thing doesn't have an imagination and expositions everything through dialogue via pulling from wikis.
Taling into account how the writers had a strike I wouldn’t be shocked if it was really chat gpt
Happy to see you back
Hope you’re doing well
I watched Avatar during covid, and despite knowing it was a kids' show and never watching it while it was airing, it still left a big impact on me.
Nothing can compare to the soul the animated show had. It’s such a nostalgic thing for so many people, one of the greatest OAT.
you don't get to do that
The worst change by far is the absolute character assassination that has taken place against Katara.
Katara's character is no longer strong and fun and likeable, she is a character that is now written blandly in an effort to not piss off the type of men who get mad when fictional women are too outspoken.
no biased review unlike everyon else ruclips.net/video/19Ff7loX7Fs/видео.htmlsi=HgAnVzXG48BhYe3o
Fr
(A good arc, with a good message btw)
In the Netflix version, Paku never agreed to teach her.
The show had great actors. They just got screwed over by bad writing, mid choreography and really bad wardrobe
It makes me sad cause the cast is great
What'd the wardrobe do tho
People wore durable, brightly coloured clothes in the past and regularly cleaned them!
no, no, you don’t get to do that…
They should just focus on making animated projects, at this point I don't think that live action is even necessary.

The LA was the epitome of breaking the rule of "show Don't tell"
And that's the epitome of poor writing. The creators should be ashamed for many reasons
Which means the creators don't understand the amazing story they're telling. It breaks my heart. What a waste.

Much like the story it's lacking

Honestly, comparing the live action to the original kinda detracts from how AWFUL the writing actually is
Like, when I was watching it I couldn't stop thinking "Damn, this is not as good as the original", but then I actually stopped to think about it for a minute and... it's not that this show is "not as good" as the original, it's just BAD on its own.
@@surette2012azulas characterization was the worst part.

I'm glad your back man. I hope everything is going well and keep up the good work
Ironic how, in the lead-up to the release, everyone was speculating about how this live-action could go more in-depth on some of the details and realities of the world that were left out in the original, only for the actual thing to be a shallow and rushed story, not even half as deep as the original.
Absolutely true. The only thing added was Zuko/41st division plot disappointed. Hope they learn a lesson.
Good to see you again Nick, hope you're doing better, if not then dont over push yourself king
