Everyone on the set has said: Randy Couture ("Toll Road", with the ear) is the actual toughest guy in this group. He was a six-time UFC cage-fighting champion in several weight classes.
Max, editor, here. Thanks for the suggestion. We will continue with the series, if this video does well. I want to see the girls' reactions to the rest of the movies. This first one is my favorite in the series, but I enjoy the sequels as well. I enjoyed part 4 at the theater last night, though it felt very different from the other movies. Still a lot of fun and I absolutely recommend it.
I tell you what, seeing this movie in theaters was an auditory experience. Especially Terry Crews's shotgun scene. Truly felt like I was on the receiving end of it.
The Expendables franchise pulls together just about every male action hero ever. You get Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Arnold Schwartzeneger, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris you name it. 😅
Stallone was also part of the Rambo series. In my opinion, the first one called First Blood is the best in the series. However, the second installment called Rambo stayed atop the box office and broke many box office records at the time.
Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis started and ran the restaurant chain "Planet Hollywood" together. Schwarzenegger references this in "Last Action Hero" (1993)
Finally you've entered an action movie lover's dream come true in the making since the 1990s. One of the hardest films that Stallone has ever made as an action star and filmmaker. Right after Rocky Balboa (2006) and Rambo 4 (2008). Co-written and created by David Callaham:Godzilla (2014), Ant-Man (2015), Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings (2021), Spider-Man:Across The Spider Verse (2023). The cast, chemistry, filmmaking and action sequences are superb. So many homages to the action genre. If you can spot them out, you know what they mean. Part 2 and 3 are hot stuff. If you watching them all, strap on tight. Watch out for the debris and shrapnel.
17:07-17:15 Gunner is played by Dolph Lundgren. You may know him from movies such as: [A Movie you have not yet reacted to but I fully expect you will. Deleting here for spoiler prevention] Red Scorpion, Universal Soldier, Men of War, Johnny Mnemonic. He has quite a history 29:25-29:31 "Who sent you?" (asks the bald interogator) "Your hairdresser." (says the guy who just went through a bunch of your men, and happens to have a considerably nice head of hair, especially for his age.) 29:47-29:51 Hannah: "alright." Tori : "full clip." That, ladies, is what is commonly referred to as a mag dump. (Empty the entire magazine)
When I heard that’s Mel Gribson. I thought I heard funeral music playing and Toy running to you. Some great movies from some stars. Jet Li = Romeo Must Die, Cradle To The Grave, Unleashed. Jason Statham The Transporter Series, War, The Italian Job and Crank. Sylvester Stallone The Rambo series.
Thanks for all these recommendations! We already have reactions to The Transporter and The Italian Job on our Patreon. Unleashed is coming soon as well, as we're planning to cover most of Luc Besson's movies eventually.
Towards the end of the film when Stallone is fighting Stone Cold Steve Austin in the underground tunnel, there’s a part where Stone Cold is supposed to throw Stallone into a brick wall and he ended up getting pretty hurt and had to go to the E.R which of course halted filming for a little while.
You 2 girls are great! Check out Stallone in "Nighthawks! " The most underrated cop movie of all time! NYPD cop Deke DaSilva (Stallone) fights terrorism on American soil 20 years before 9-11-2001! Enjoy and God bless you two young ladies!
I love the Rocky series, but in a different way, because those are dramas, really. So it's not really fair to compare, I think. If I was to compare these to another Stallone franchise, it would be the Rambo films, which are fun action films. They're also very iconic. The Expendables movies are basically tributes to the action movies of the 1980s and 90s. Very fun, though. You girls should watch Jet Li's stuff, like Romeo Must Die, Kiss of the Dragon, and Unleashed. Jason Statham has some bangers, too. The Transporter, Crank, Homefront, and plenty plenty more. Nice reaction. 👍
Great action movie that brings together the most popular Hollywood action stars Stallone, Jasón Statham, Jet Li,Dolph Lundgren. Appearance of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis and liking Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Stone Cold, Scot Adkins and Mickey Rourke.
Even extending the cast in 2 and 3 with icons like Jean-Claude Van Damme, Westley Snipes, Chuck Norris (and a poor unnamed snake), Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson and Ronda Rousey
Have you girls seen Stallone's "Rambo" series? It's not as violent as the Expendables but Stallone's character as Rambo is quite similar to his character in this movie.
15:33 Stallone came up with this sequence on location. He didn't know that the plane had this compartment, until he saw someone else sitting there as the plane flew past. When he saw that he knew he needed to incorporate it in the film somehow.
What else Dolph Lundgren has been in (ranked): "Showdown in Little Tokyo" (1991) "The Punisher" (1989) "A View To a Kill" (1985) "Aquaman" (2018) "Universal Soldier" (1992) "Rocky IV" (1985) "Masters of the Universe" (1987)
Stallone legit broke his neck shooting the fight scene with Steve Austin. He finished shooting the movie and then had surgery, which included screwing a metal plate in his neck.
This was like the ultimate "guy movie." The expendables is essentially the same as the suicide squad. But in this, they're ex military instead of coerced criminals.
during the fight scene with sylvester stallone and stone cold steve austin when stallone was sent flying against a wall the scene went wrong and stallone ended up with a concussion and whiplash
It's absolutely worth watching the rest of the series. Great having several of the top action actors doing their thing in one film. Hope to see Mortal Kombat 1995 😉
MK reaction coming quite soon! The Expendables probably not. This video is not getting the attention it deserves, so it's unlikely to be worth a follow-up, at least for the foreseeable future.
9/10 Everything an Action Movie should be, times 2! Get ready to cheer. Be ready to laugh. Be ready to be amazed with wonderful, live action fighting scenes using everything from fists, to blades, to guns. I don't know how this movie avoided being cheesy, but darn it, it did! Mindless explosions? Not really. Excessive? Again, not really. I hate the sort of climax usually seen in an action movie where the pyrotechnics are the show. I want to see the actors/stunt-men doing their thing. I want to see people. I can see fireworks on the Fourth of July. (Though, trust me, there ARE fireworks in this movie, too.) The balancing of this many stars is incredible and pulled off remarkably well. When Sylvester Stallone made his final Rocky movie (Rocky Balboa), he said he did it as a "thank you" to the fans. Maybe that was the idea behind this one, too, though I heard a quote from somewhere that after seeing wimpy Tobey Maguire as "Spiderman" full of CGI and a stuffed/padded suit, he realized action heroes like himself were, well, expendable. This is fantasy baseball and fantasy rock-n-roll camp for adults all rolled into a wonderful action flick with enough of a plot to give the characters motivation for their action. A deep plot? Heck no. A predictable plot? Certainly. But trust me, if you thought you've seen it all before, you have yet to see "The Expendables." Thank you Mr. Stallone!
The expendable series are about bringing all the action stars together in a movie or series of movies rather. Btw you need to watch the Rambo series from first blood to last blood
Expecting the guy to get the girl? As Samuel Jackson once said in Kingsman, "Well, this ain't that kind of movie". Maybe a future watch for you two. Highly recommend. Great reaction.
We intended to do that. We pushed this one ahead in our schedule because our Internet went out and it was the only one on disc. Turned out well, since the new one is in theaters today. Are you seeing it?
@@RuntotheMoviesAwesome, so happy you're going to watch those soon. Definitely recommend you check out Inferno, which is a documentary on how Sly wrote and directed and starred in this Expendables movie. So cool.

Sylvester Stallone is a genius Rambo Rocky and the Expendables are 3 of the greatest film series of all time
I love the expendables 1 2 and 3 and the ones that's coming out at the movies is part 4
Rocky franchise then Rambo franchise then The Expendables.
THE EXPENDABLES franchise is great

When Stallone said he wants to be President. The whole audience in the theater laughed.
Max, editor, here. I was one of those who laughed. It was a glorious moment.
Wow!
Wasn't that in the movie? I thought I saw that.
The guy with the cauliflower ears is Randy Couture. He was a UFC fighter and champion in the early 2000's.

if you guys like Jason Statham i highly suggest you watch Snatch and Lock stock and two smoking barrels!

Dolph first appearance is Rocky 4 and he also was the punisher
Stallone legit broke his neck shooting the fight scene with Steve Austin. He finished shooting the movie and then had surgery, which included screwing a metal plate in his neck.
Holy moly!!!
Gunner played by Dolphin Lundgren was in rocky 4 he was Ivan Drago that is why you thought he looked familiar. great reaction keep up the good work
Max, editor, here. They've not seen Rocky 4 yet. They will soon though.
In real life, Dolph Lundgren has a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Awesome!!
You gotta do the rest of the Expendables movies!
Except the godawful fourth one!!!
@tomcody2203 That bad, huh?
That "loud" gun that shoots 250 rounds a minute... is a SHOT GUN!! Each individual shot has a bunch of projectiles!
The waterboarding scene was real. Giselle volunteered to do the scene herself to add more realism to the event.
Holy moly! The scene does look very realistic.
Finally. Been waiting for you guys to get to this series.
Loved the Mr Hanky cameo
Awesome job! If you thought this movie was great, just wait until you see Expendables 2, easily the best one of the four.

The best action flick that unites legendary action heroes past and present. Watch the 2nd one, it is so much better.
This was like the ultimate "guy movie." The expendables is essentially the same as the suicide squad. But in this, they're ex military instead of coerced criminals.
I was still surprised the main bad guy Eric Roberts is the big brother of the actress Julia Roberts
If y'all enjoyed this one, then y'all will really enjoy the 2nd one. It's way better 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
Arnold was the governor at the time theu made the movie that is why he only has a cameo and he did it for free as a favor to stallone.
7:44 a little foreshadowing onto a later movie in the franchise I see😂
during the fight scene with sylvester stallone and stone cold steve austin when stallone was sent flying against a wall the scene went wrong and stallone ended up with a concussion and whiplash
