  • My "slightly" modified -97 Marauder with new self-made, unfinished 2" stainless steel pipes without any baffles.
    They say that loud pipes save lifes, but I honestly think I could kill someone with these.

    When fabricating the muffler is is simply muffler material and a flange or is it double walled like the original?
    Thanks

    wow ! very very nice. I veryuch appreciate how you did what you WANTED and its one of the most original and tasteful versions of a Marauder ive seen yet. I also have a 97 marauder I bought brand new 20 years ago. I did some stuff to it too. it has a meaty belt drive that I fitted myself from S 40 , parts. search " belt drive marauder " . still has original paint and engine. runs like a german clock. I love the belt .makes it a whole differnt bike. if u want ,ill share my build specs for u to do yours. total cost for job less than 300$. doing your own work. leave a comment on vid if you want to chat. im impressed with your work. you could do the belt mod. its not for idiots. btw , over 5000 miles on belt " prototype" and 0 problems. drive it hard too.

    Moriensta... Oliko kuinka hankalat tehä noi putket? Itellä ollu kans mieles, et jos vääntääs täysin suorat putket ens kesäksi. Minkä vuoden toi sun konehes on? Mulla mun mielestä takapytyn putki on hieman ylempänä kun tossa sulla.

    • @nostokurki847
      @nostokurki847  10 лет назад

      Ei mikään erityisen paha homma, olisiko 3h mennyt kaikkinensa. Suurin hankaluus oli löytää sopivat laipat, mutta 2" pakoputken laipoista sai tehtyä passelit. Pyörä on ensimmäistä vuosikertaa eli -97, alun perin takapytyn putki meni alakautta.

      No, none. A little bit longer on the choke when cold, and somewhat hotter exhaust at high rpm, so I think it was a little bit lean. But depends much on how you drive it.

    • @nostokurki847
      @nostokurki847  7 лет назад

      Made the flanges myself from 8mm thick steel plate. They aren't welded on, just act as a fasteners for stainless pipe pieces that fit to original exhaust o-rings -> nostokurki.1g.fi/kuvat/VZ800/putket/IMG_0285.JPG/full. That valve cover or "air cleaner" is a part of kids stainelss kitchen toy set from ikea, just made a bracket to hold it and punched a hole in the middle to screw it in.

    I have a 97 with Cobras... and while at idle or low throttle it isn't too bad, anywhere else, the damn thing is obnixious as hell... in many cases worse than the harleys with straight pipes... my Cobra drags do not have the adjustable baffles and it pisses of a lot of people... I am going to either sell the bike or see if I can find some decent used pipes that sound good but don't scream all the time... plus the cops now are enforcing the 96db limit on loud vehicles and I am sure this thing barks louder than 96db

    • @nostokurki847
      @nostokurki847  10 лет назад

      Yeah, short stroke makes this thing a quite rev monster, and also makes it sound really nasty when cruising. You could build baffles yourself, or make a lollipop silencer at the end of the pipes? See my other video about this bike, I built adjustable baffles for this bike, now I can leave home without pissing off my neighbours :)
