i moved to seattle 2 years ago with no job, no family, no friends, and no money. it was quite the adventure, but one i wouldn't trade for anything. good luck! i'm excited to watch your journey. 😊
Good luck. My only advice as a native New Yorker is to keep yourself out of some of the sketchier areas. Don't go wandering around too late at night by yourself. We don't have insane crime here but there is a lot of crime of opportunity where you might get robbed or jumped if you aren't careful. Another thing is it's EXPENSIVE to live in NYC. Talking $1200 a month to rent a room in a decent place. Above all else, have fun and take it all in. I hope you get some good memories regardless!
One tip...also go to some of the quieter gay bars if there's any near your hostel. Go early when they first open before they get too busy. Befriend the bar staff, they know all their regulars. Ask them if they have any customers in the field of work you are looking into that they could introduce you to. Their knowledge of who's who in the community can help network you.
You're so brave!!! Your video popped up out of nowhere and it's funny, I related-ish as I recently moved all on my own to Thailand with no place to stay, no one I know etc, but I DID have a job lined up and even then I was shitting myself! Haha. Good luck in NY and good for you for venturing into the unknown. I am subscribing and look forward to seeing more of your journey.
Wow haha i couldn't imagine doing it in a different country where I don't speak a language so that's crazy!! I'm so happy to hear you made the move though. And thank you so much for your kind words!!
Hey!!!! YT algo brought me to you, too. So many of our LGBTQ ancestors, forefathers, founding queens, etc., etc. have done just the same as you!!! Whatever the reason you find yourself on this journey, I really wish you the best and am looking forward to your daily updates. Keep your chin up and don't stop swimming!!! Make sure you build in some way to be socially active. I notice you saying you don't really interact with folks out there, and that totally tracks for big city living. My suggestion is to get your way down to the gay parts of town - Greenwich Village, Hells Kitchen, Chelsea - and meet some folks, drink, hang out (be safe!!!). fr, not having any social interaction will k i l l you. Also, see if you can hit up any groups like New Alternatives NYC, that specialize in helping displaced gay youth good luck!!! See you tomorrow!!
For the immediate time being, you need a network. Given what you said in first video, if you want that path, there are lgbtq resources and even still Houses you may be able to connect with to help land on your feet.
good luck my friend, i have dreams of picking up my life and moving across country too. Living in a red state that is trying to take away my ability to get ID and healthcare (cause im trans) is exhausting. So i empathize with your position. Also 212 is the area code in Manhattan, so it's not just an azealia banks thing but what she was referencing. hahah.
damn that's rough :( i hope you'll be able to get out to a more supportive state soon. I bet it's a nightmare trying to navigating life as a trans in the south 😭 and ohhhhh that makes sense hahah thank you for the info!

@@attiredmani learned more about myself than i thought was possible. you're going to enjoy this adventure! i'm rooting for you! 😊🤙🏻

Just did the same thing. No savings, no money no nothing
Native all my life, rent is insane, you need to get lucky to find a connection that will give you decent accommodation.
yeah! I think i'm getting really lucky so far though. I'll update soon!
Real! I’m in my early-mid 30s and stuck with my parents because there’s just nowhere affordable, even tho I’ve been here my whole life.

I can't imagine myself living in a hostel like that, but I'm glad you found a place to stay. How much does it cost? Are your roommates nice?
it's 60$/night and roommates change every 2 days because they don't usually stay long haha. But they've mostly been respecful!
so boss ur in a shelter... gl, keep a weapon on you and keep your stuff near you at all times. gl on the interview tho
