After Everton and Fulham, I do think that Chelsea have actually had one of the worst transfer windows. They have again brought in so many players for overinflated fees, some of which don’t even make the match day squad. Despite getting rid of some deadwood, they could have still done a lot better. Losing Hudson-Odoi for as little as £3M when Bayern Munich were looking at paying more than 20 times that amount just a few years ago is unacceptable.
Chelsea's issues are going to be deeper and remain a problem a lot longer than most are realizing. Having a flop with 7 years of contract left are either going to mean taking massive, massive losses, or not being able to move them on at all. Chelsea should not be allowed to run their club like this - it's a financial timebomb.
As well as the new signings at Spurs, Udogie coming in from his loan at Udinese and looking like he's played in the PL his entire career has been a big boost. Defence has been turned from a big weakness to a strength, albeit one lacking experienced depth at CB.
@@AmardeepKiro-m6c should’ve specified experienced depth. Wtf we gonna do if romero or vdv get injured put Phillips there 😭honestly rather him than dier
As a Spurs fan our best signing was no doubt Ange, none of these players would be anywhere near as fun or good without him. He revived Bissouma, Porro, Romero, Son and Kulusevski after Conte tormented them all of last season, brought Udogie into the fray after his loan spell and coached him into a very different role. Credit to the Levy/club aswell who basically pushed for the sale of Kane and the move to sign players aged 17-25 and in doing so found it easier to play the football we Spurs fans should see week in week out. Again I'm well aware it's early and this season is one very much for transition but all I expect from Spurs is entertainment and a genuine attempt at winning every game and now we've finally got that after 5 or so years of awful management.
@@bg22757 yeah, But the difference is that Nuno was playing terrible footbal that did not suit the players, for example Sanchez was always defender that played attacling football, he was signed by poch and then had to endure 4 years of dead football, no wonder he got worse, thats why Spurs like Ange already more cuz he makes the playstyle look exciting to watch, and gives atleast some hope to the club
@@bg22757 if you're comparing nuno with ange shows how much you know about football. Nuno narrowly got 3 wins out of 3 getting 1-0 wins and then lost 4-0 in his 4th game
Everton fan here. You've got to judge it on where we were versus where we are. Up front we went from a toothless Maupay, and a crocked DCL to: Beto (not amazing but a good price for 6-12 goals a season), Danjuma (looks good quality, who cares what happened at Spurs) a promising Chermiti, a crocked DCL. That's a pretty significant improvement in depth and quality. We did sell Cannon and Simms, but neither were likely to feature much. Verdict: Moderate improvement. On the wings we were really light with just Townsend, Gray, and McNeil. We're still pretty light now, but letting Townsend go was probably for the best, and statistics suggest that Harrison is way better than he gets credit for should be among our key players once he gets fit and integrated. Verdict: Small improvement. In central midfield we kept Onana, Doucore, Gueye, and Garner. That's a solid unit. We only lost Davies, who has arguably regressed since he first broke though. We also sold Iwobi in the last year of his contact and somehow recouped most of the fee. Trust me when I say most Everton fans would have expected closer to £10M rather than the £20M we got. Verdict: No meaningful change. In the fullback areas we were light before and we remain light. Coleman is a legend but is well over the hill. Mykolenko is below average for the prem. Patterson is decent. To that mix we added Young, who is a decent option to add more depth. Honestly though, our fullback positions are so weak I would rather cut our losses and move Patterson into a back 3. Verdict: No meaningful change. Defence: Our central defence has been another area of chronic weakness, especially whenever Keane plays. Losing Mina is sad, but in all honesty his injury record is shocking and his wages are high. Holgate going out on loan is no loss. The big plus for us is the return of Branthwaite who is that rare combination of speedy, aggressive, tall, and powerful. A beautiful young defender. Verdict: Small improvement. Goalkeeper: Pickford is and was the undisputed king of his position, and the release of Begovic and Iversen make no difference. Verdict: No change. That I think is a very fair rating our how we did. As you can see, every key area has either stayed put or improved . Will it be enough to keep us in the Prem? Not sure. I'd give us 60% to stay up, 40% to go down. But the idea that this is better than Wolves losing almost all of their defenders and selling the heart of their midfield is laughable. You've got to grade things on a curve, and I think Everton have slashed wages, raised funds, deepened the squad, and added goals to the side. That's why there are so many Everton fans double-taking on this video. We're not saying we're good. We're not even saying we'll survive. But it's a damn sight a more sensible window than we've seen in a while. I'd take this over at least the last 5 summer windows. Maybe even further back then that.
@@Charlie81-16 where was there any complaining in that ? Can you read fella 😅 ? If anything this was for a change being positive when it comes to Everton
@@Charlie81-16 Ok will do. Thanks for the encouragement. I wasn't sure about continuing to cry, but you put those doubts to rest. Now, with your blessing, I'll keep doing it.
As a Liverpool fan, I'm honestly quite pleased with their business, although the Salah issue still looms. If the complaint over the years has been the midfield, the midfield looks instantly much better. The front line doesn't need attention (unless Salah leaves, though I think they'd be fine without, still). They needed a CB, perhaps, but they're playing Jarrell Quansah in the absence of a new one, and he hasn't put a foot wrong. Szoboszlai and Mac Allister feel like such excellent signings... rank them where you'd like, but I'm happy.
Surprised Liverpool are so low when you consider we went into the window needing to address the midfield, and have replaced injury prone Henderson/Fabinho/Keita/Ox with Szobo/Macalister/Gravenberch/Endo for 90m net - Szobo and Macalister especially who already look like they’ve been in the team for years. If we’d signed Lavia instead of Endo our window would’ve been just about perfect (with how Quansah has played pre season/first few games I think it’s fair to afford him a chance to show he can contribute instead of signing a new 3rd choice this window) Not fully sure how Newcastle who signed Tonali, two teenage fullbacks for 30m each and replaced ASM with Harvey Barnes had a better window lol
@buzz5020 I mean, I think Newcastle did well, and pragmatically. But they've appeared to be regressing as a team. But yeah, people are saying Liverpool have fewer bodies than before so that's why it's not good enough, but Keita, Ox, and Carvalho had like 50 appearances between the 3 of them across all comps, and that includes subs, and only Carvalho made any impact. Fabinho was being benched as long as Bajectic was fit, and Hendo was clearly playing a farewell tour, Mac and Szobo would have kept him out of most games this year.
@@buzz5020we still needed one more specialist DM and a CB. I know Klopp said Gravenberch is multi functional midfielder but both Nagelsmann and Tuchel have failed at making him a number 6.
@@roccaflocca4312 don’t get me wrong I think Newcastle haven’t done poorly this window - I just think 60m on 2 young fullbacks (again, both look promising but aren’t the finished product) and swapping ASM for Harvey Barnes alone would be considered a poor window, so I’m struggling to see how signing Tonali meant they had one of the better windows. I also think Newcastle overall have bought very smart since the takeover, but for a champions league team with endless pockets I’m not convinced they’ve had an overly good window, let alone better than Liverpool who have nearly fully rebuilt their midfield
@@VoltronKnight don’t disagree at all with the DM, Lavia would’ve been perfect tbh, but I think signing Endo (giving Bajcetic a chance to show he deserves to be considered) is making the best of a bad situation. If it doesn’t work out - FSG have already shown their hand that they have an extra 50m they’re prepared to spend. On CB - If anything I’d have preferred a RB tbh. Quansah looks very promising and deserves a run in the team to also show he has it. If not - all it means is we’ve missed the boat temporarily to sign a 3rd choice CB. Again not ideal, but worth the risk
Forest saw 34 players depart and 13 arrive. The Summer was quiet till the last few days but that was planned with new signings mostly arriving on Transfer Deadline day. The most high profile is Ibrahim Sangare signed for a bargain £30m from PSV, The club also signed Divock Origi on loan from AC Milan (with an option to buy for around 6m Euros)
As long as one of the defenders we've signed gets McKenna or Worrall onto the bench and off the back line, I will be over the moon. They've been poor to start the season. Boly can't do it all himself.
@@arizz620 He has said when NFFC came in for him it was Easy to switch and so far he has grabbed the chance to be a NO1 and is so far looking good. A calm GOALKEEPER and it is slightly weird to have the NO1&NO2 for the USMNT at NFFC
Arguably, the worst business Man Utd did this summer was not finding a way to sell the players ten Hag doesnt use. The fact that Magiure, McTominay, Sancho, & Van de Beek all didn't receive transfers - arguably moves United needed to pursue Osimhen - is damning.
Ten Hag still needs McTominay and Sancho for squad depth. Those other two though, not sure at all. Van de Beek has zero market value left and Maguire...
@@FFTV-Lemmyforest left it so late I started deadline day saying their business had been awful and checked my phone late that night to see u had signed like 7 players who were are decent first teamers especially cho who I would’ve taken at West Ham for his price any day
@FFTV-Lemmy Yeah, I was disappointed he didn't mention Sangaré! Definitely an oversight on his part. Certainly think we had a better window than Liverpool & Brentford, in context, as well. Although there'll be some hits & misses, we haven't overpaid for anyone (including Sangaré, when you think how the DM market has been this summer) and we have numerous potential bargains on our hands, when you look at the age profiles & their ceilings. Think we did a much better job on outgoings than he realised as well. 28 players have been released, sold, or loaned out. Plus, we got a good price for Johnson & used it to improve the squad as a whole. It's bittersweet, but don't think we'll miss him that much, as long as the team step up to fill in his goals; & Elanga looks like the ideal replacement, tbf. Still, I take his point on the bloated squad & the valuation of the Wood deal (even though that was actually struck in January & only technically went through this summer).
@georgemesser3262 I agree we did leave it all down to deadline day which was concerning! That and the Chris Wood deal definitely move us down from the top spots for deadline deals, but being bottom half and below Brentford & Luton seemed harsh 😅
How do you feel about Forest having 5 GKs on the roster? As an American I was excited about Turner becoming the new #1, but then they signed Vlachodimos and I'm not sure what to think. Plus, I'm not sure what's up with Horvath, who's been a capable backup for the National Team and was a key part in Luton's promotion and yet is stuck in 3rd or maybe even 4th on Forest's depth chart.
Alfie, as always a great video... putting the mighty Hatters in fourth, you have captured the sentiment of my club. To quote our CEO “we are not going to go all Billy big bollocks” end quote. We are here for the money, a huge proportion of the ridiculous amount of riches is going on our infrastructure, progressing the youth set up, and of course paying for our new stadium. Unlike most modern stadiums, it’s not a concrete bowl on an industrial estate out of town, it’s right in our town centre, it has stands of different sizes which are as close to the pitch as they can be (West Ham take note) This season’s money secures our future, we will never spend recklessly and the so called expert pundits just don’t get us ( Crooks, Shearer, Lineker etc) ( Thogden is not an expert , so he doesn’t count, unless you include self publicity) Keep up your excellent work, and good luck to the Tigers, until next year of course, when we will be back in the Championship, or will we???? 🤔🧡🧡🎩🎩
Yes but you have bought players that I would have expected a promotion chasing championship team to sign - I think Luton could have used the loan market more to get better quality at centre back and midfield
Spurs fan, think the only thing that could have made our transfer window better would be keeping Kane (or at least not letting him leave in such a negative manner) and being able to shift more of the deadwood. But I’m thrilled that the new boys have settled in so well. Still too early to say anything about Johnson but Maddison and Van de Ven have made big impacts. And despite the shaky start against Brentford Vicario looks like a bargain at 20M. Not expecting us to finish higher than 6th, if any of our starting XI get injured we are screwed, but promising starts. Still doesn’t forgive spending 60M on Richarlison last season, and he looks just as bad this season. Guy can’t finish anything
@@yidarmy2323 With the players they have now, they’ll be experiencing a new feel. I know it seems odd seeing someone say Kane was holding Spurs back but honestly I think both will do better now that they’ve separated
Spurs were too reliant on Kane. He scored half of our goals last season. Yh the playing style is much better, but now instead of concentrating on Kane the rest of the team has to step up and score goals. Which i believe will make the whole squad better
He went abroad instead of joining a direct rival in the Prem and got you 100 mil with 1 year left on his contract. Would you rather he walk out on a free next summer? He literally left in the best way possible and you're calling it a negative.
With Burnley, the worry is not because they have lost 3 games against better opposition. It's because they are shipping a lot of goals at home in a way that feels avoidable. I think that only the Man City scoreline is acceptable. Conceding 3 goals at home to Villa, and 5 to Spurs, due to a stubborn highline rather than a more pragmatic approach, must be annoying to Burnley fans.
I think one of the bigger things not being talked about is how Chelsea are following the same model that has killed so many other clubs in the past. I personally think they have too much money and might be “too big to fail”, but using massive amounts of money to signs tons of players on long term deals has resulted in so many other clubs losing control of their finances and going down. People forget that they almost dissolved once in the 1980s, and if they don’t keep up a high standard of performance for the next 5-7 years and keep missing out on European football, there is a non-zero chance that they could find themselves in trouble again. Rangers, Derby County, Leeds, etc. all followed the formula of spending too much on players and then not being able to sustain the success needed to pay for that initial investment.
Very harsh on Everton, but understandable if you're not following the club. I think getting £32m from Iwobi (who was alright but doesn't fit in Dyche's system) and Gray (Who wanted out and has 1 good game in 7) when they're in the last years of their contract is exceptional by our admittedly low standards. Beto has started well, as has Danjuma. With Harrison we have a PL proven right winger who had better numbers than Iwobi last season. The table looks bad but we're playing pretty well (villa game aside) even despite horrible luck and a lot of injuries to key players.
@RoyMatzem Genuinely the mood is optimistic. Because we know the difference, we started reasonably well last season but our underlying numbers were horrible. This time it’s the opposite. We’ve had comfortably better XG in each game bar Villa while playing a completely makeshift attack. We’re not gonna finish top half, but the feeling is we should avoid relegation given the way the team is playing.
Man U getting Mount is probably one of the strangest signings I’ve seen. I don’t see how they thought adding him to a midfield of Bruno and Casimero would balance things
I renew my petition for you to include international subtitles for your videos. I volunteer for Spanish, but just having them would be great for me and my football loving non-English speaking family.
~1.27% of corners result in goals as a whole but West Ham have already scored 3-4 from corners this season with Ward-Prowse taking them; devastating from set pieces is proving to be an understatement
I would have given Spurs transfer window a literal 10/10 if they brought in a backup CB. Sucks that they didn't but they will probably prioritize it in January. Meanwhile we are playing exciting football and our starting 11 looks great. Overall very decent window.
I think Liverpool deserves being top 5 because all their signings were good. Don't understimate Endo, I think he will be great. And most of all: only spent 117 million for 4 players!!! MacAllister cost only 40 million !!!
i think Nkunku will be a game changer for Chelsea when fit, he is an elite level centre forward and with that midfield 3 behind him could have a very good season
if you want to see how to run an actual sports club look at Bayern, no debts, world class facilities, success on and off the pitch and simply the most important, consistency
Ask any Everton fan and they'll tell you selling Iwobi is good business. Based on what we've seen so far this season Iwobi simply doesn't necessarily fit in the team any better than Dwight McNeil or Jack Harrison and was 100% leaving on a free at the end of next season. Stats will tell you that he's been our most creative player last couple of seasons but stats won't tell you his decision making in the final third is average at best and how much he slowed down our attacks. Fast breaks might keep us up, Iwobi definitely wouldn't've.
Agreed. Iwobi takes it upon himself to be the creative force in the side, but he's a below average one in all honesty. There is a lot of opportunity cost in the low odds chances he takes on. Fair if he was winning enough of them. But he wasn't. Honestly thought he's go for half that.
25:50 Can't believe I'm saying this, but Spurs have the greatest chance among the Big 6 to launch a title race with Man City, followed by Arsenal and Liverpool. Man Utd and Chelsea are both jokes
I'd actually put Liverpool above Arsenal right now. But yes, that looks like the likely top 4 at this rate. Man Utd look worse than last season so far and Chelsea look... barely better, and they finished 12th.
they are too weak defensively and compact fast team will destroy them. they are fun to watch and have amazing style but definitively not title contender
Forgot to include Newcastle United for the bottlers along with Chelsea and Manchester United. They lost 3 games in a row since 5-1 colossal win over Aston Villa.
Evertonian here. I'm ok with you putting us dead last if you take into account our absolute waste of 600M over the past five years with absolutely nothing to show for it. This season however, we actually did some good business within our budgetary constraints (brought on by ourselves or course.) I'd say if there was one flaw, it was not bringing in another quality CB to replace Michael Keane or back up Jarrad Branthwaite. Other than that, we filled the holes we needed to and improved our squad from what we had last season. Keep up the great work, love the vids.
Brentford fan here... Whilst I would say that the players we've signed throughout the summer window were good signings - Collins and Flekken for example already proving fantastic! It has, I think, been a bit disappointing especially through lack of signings in attack - Whilst Mbuemo and Wissa on their day can be possible one of if not the best attacking duo in the Prem - their finishing at times times can be off (Mbuemo already missing 2 sitters this season alone ALREADY!) and has cost us 2 wins that we could have EASILY had over Tottenham and Bournemouth. With our multiple attempts to sign Johnson failing to come through (due to all but 2 people in Forrest deciding that we a mid-table rival for them 😂) as well as the last minute decision for Bakayoko deciding to stay at PSV (due to him wanting to play in the UCL) despite the club accepting a significant bid for him. ...and in the last minute panic not having an additional attacker due to not having Toney until Jan. Phil Giles I feel just panicked and went 'oooooohhh f*ck - um, quick just sign Maupay back - f*ck it' even though he hasn't done ANYTHING for Everton and was just ok for Brighton (from what I saw) just sums up the sh*t show that is the second half of our transfer window Early on - my hopes were high: - 3rd season in the Prem - great finish last season (with a European spot this season) - 2 (3) great signings really early on the Window giving me hope that we could secure a big signing in attack. but no... with about 2 (or 3) days to go it was looking bright - PSV had agreed a bid for Bakayoko and Johnson was still on the cards (kind of) with other options like Ekitike also a possibility. then in less than 12 hrs it all went to sh*t: - Johnson --> Spurs - Ekitike staying at PSG -Bakayoko staying at PSV (for UCL) thus, overall I am frustrated at the window. Whilst happy with the signings of Schade, Flekken and Collins - I am disappointed we couldn't bag a decent replacement for Toney (for until Jan. at least) (oh don't worry at least we signed 5 or 6 B team players! 😂) and I can only hope Maupay will be a success although I am not sure - not tall or strong and I don't think he'll fit out style of play but we'll see I guess (btw well done if you read all of this! I appreciate it lol!)
American Everton fan, yeah. To me the worst thing was the consistent selling of assets and reduction of wages to help with the FFP rules, selling young players like Cannon who could develop into something and proven useful with a squad that perennially has amongst the most injuries while being already threadbare. As has been told, "you can't change your team" once selected, but seriously wondering if I can file for a season-long loan to a better run "also-ran". At least until adults are back in charge of the club.
As a Newcastle fan I’m surprised you’ve ranked us this high. Tonali looks to be a good signing, if a bit expensive. And I’m happy with Barnes, Hall and Livramento. However if we’re going to be serious about playing in Europe and qualifying again for next season I think we need more squad depth (especially in central defence and on the right wing) and I do wish we had a central midfielder who was a more dedicated defensive midfielder to allow whatever combination of Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton and Willock to progress further up the pitch.
I would be interested to see Eddie Howe switch up his tactics or formation to get the best out of the players we have. Perhaps the last three losses and the international break can give him some time to rethink some of the moving pieces
don’t agree with wolves, sasa kalajdzic missed practically all of last season with injury and will be like a new signing, already kicking off with a couple of goals.
In the context of whether we improved enough to finish higher than 3rd, our ranking is fair but Utd has actually done quite good business re: addressing squad issues in general. Not getting decent fees for players does remain an issue but I'm not bothered about that too much.
💥Pep = Usually has the great starting formation then he makes mistakes with his changes. 💥Klopp = Usually starts with the wrong formation, then makes brilliant changes to fix things. 💥 7Hag = Usually starts with the wrong formation then does changes that make it even worse.
First video of yours I've watched in a while and i must commend you on cutting down your intro to 1 min 49 seconds. Used to be a solid 5 mins at least back in the day. Good video from what I've seen/heard so far
For all the people saying they don't understand Chelsea's signings, or Chelsea's signings don't make sense or how will they all play. GK - Sanchez, Bettenelli, Petrovic LB - Chillwell, Cucu CB - Disasi, Badiashile, Silva, Colwill, (Fofana out for season, Chalobah to be sold) RB - James, Gusto CM - Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia, Gallagher, CAM - Nkunku, Chuky RW - Palmer, Madueke LW - Sterling, Mudryk ST - Jackson, Broja That's a squad of 23, including some of the youngsters such as Maatsen, Lesley, Burstow and Humphries and you have a normal premier league squad
I have big hsv vibes about Everton . Former big club that didn’t reach the top for some time so they spend money till they got no more . Then 3-4 years with nearly a relegation with completely other option about the club from the Owner .
I agree on man united being so low. Overpaid for hoijlund and mount, didn't get in enough players and didn't sell enough deadwood. And why did we sign Evans!!!
I think for newcastle selling Saint-maxamin is a huge mistake but obviously I don’t know but he’s very different from Harvey Barnes and could have been useful for rotation especially with a European season coming along
As a Fulham fan, I couldn't agree more with our ranking. I'm happy with Bassey, I think Iwobi, Jiminez (As a plan B) and Castagne will be useful but the fact we haven't replaced Mitrovic at all speaks volumes of where we're going as a club. We had all summer to find a good replacement yet we did nothing.
Brighton did just make one misstake. They loand the best german forward to Stuttgart, which has provided them with 9 goals and 2 assists in 11 matches.
Judging Chelsea 14th is fairly ridiculous. You have to view it in terms of the project they are mounting, including the players that are exiting the club. Hall is also a loan deal, with the obligation to buy which is likely but still certainly not a done deal by any means. If anything they used this window as a corrective to previous failures, shame regarding some injuries that I think has resulted in their slow start. I think we will see if their youth project can get into the top 4 this season, it would be a push but they just need a few results and nkunku to return.
Arsenal needed to bring in another Central defender and Striker. Would love to see them get Ivan Toney in January. A different player from Nkeitah would is still a solid backup to Jesus. Obv word around Arsenal is that they will go for Ferguson next summer.
I'm surprised how high Luton has finished. They are showing 0 attempt to survive in the PL. They would have a chance to break Derby's record. However it is still a good squad for the championship if they manage to keep all of their players
People are being far too reactionary regarding United's window considering their poor start to the season. They signed a ball playing keeper who's an upgrade on De Gea and knows Ten Hg well, a Champions League winning England international for 55 mil in today's market is great business, Amrabat is a great addition on the cheap and Hojlund whilst overpriced and a risk has serious potential and all the makings of a top striker.
@@jadend2074 Guy was Chelsea's best player two seasons in a row and won a Champions League. How many UCL winning English internationals are you getting for 25 mil? Only kids on Twitter who don't actually watch games would say that he's a bad player. Two of the best managers in the world in Klopp and Tuchel wanted him as well. Do you know more than them? You're clearly have an agenda. Any player takes time to adjust to a new club and style of play. He's been in pretty much every England squad so idk what you're on about. Hojlund was injured and has played like 20 minutes so far, he has potential. Onana is one of the best ball playing keepers in Europe and was crucial in Inter getting to the Champions league final. You're clueless so just shut up. Either way there's no point in judging transfers after two weeks.
I think Chelsea's business will turn out to be the best in 5 years provided Boehly and Co. stick to the plan. Sanchez will be the gatekeeper as #1 until one of the two young former MLS keepers take over. You then have James and Gusto as RBs, Chilwell and Cucurella as LBs, Fofana and Disasi as RCBs, Colwill and Badiashile as LCBs, a double pivot made up of Enzo, Caiciado, Lavia, Gallagher, and Ugo, CAMs Nkunku and Chukwuemeka, wingers Mudryk, Palmer, Maduake, and Maatsen (long term I think hes a winger), and Jackson and Broja up front. If that team stays and plays together for the next 5 years only a handful of those players will even be 30 and then you sprikle in the countless wonderkids if someone leaves (or sell them on).
FINALLY! Someone with common sense to see that spending nearly 500 million euros and still not boasting even a top 4 squad in the league is criminal. Everybody was hyping Chelsea and labeling them a 'dark horse' coming into the season. They don't have a single world class player despite spending 1.4 billion euros in a year. I can see them easily finishing 6th or 7th. Behind the obvious Arsenal, City, & Liverpool, as well as Spurs, who lets not forget also don't have European football which is a huge factor in many's overvexpectation of Chelsea. I would also be very surprised if they finished above Brighton, Newcastle or even Man Utd.
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 543) I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored. If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
As Chelsea Fan how high we are Able to Finish will determine our Transfer window and how effective it was.. they Can Go a Lil higher than 14th in my opinion because the Transfers out was Very good with the Exception of Mendy, Kante and Mount leaving Prematurely, Experience in Midfield is Needed and we are going to struggle for some Portions of this.. But our Midfield Recruiting was Fantastic and once they adapt to each other's style of play we can Have, one of the Best Midfields of All time.. So I'll judge the window in Full at the End of the Season anything 7th or Higher is A good Season because of the Aggressive way the Club has Gone about Rebuilding, Experience mix with Youth was the Better Way to go they Choose youth Predominantly which takes 1-3 seasons before Consistency can be established to win Big trophies.. I See us Trophiesless this season and possibly The next, until the team builds chemistry and its own experience..
The issue is, mate, that we cannot judge a transfer window by the end results because that will be analyzing a completely different thing (coaching, tactics, overall fitting into a system, non-injuries, squad building and depth, plus tons of intangibles, etc.). Maybe Alfie didn't made it clearer during the video because I've read many comments overlooking precisely this: he judged the transfer window taking very much into account the financial side, how much teams absorbed risk regarding to fees and wages, player's experience or youngness, the marging of profits, etc. In that regard, Chelsea made a really big bet and, as you said, the results will be tangible only in the long term, but you cannot judge a bet in high praise because... well, it is a bet, and how's Chelsea doing by now? As it is today, that transfer window was monetarily impressive but hugely risky even in the long term because of those weird ass contracts. Let's say that some of those players don't work in Poch's vision, what are they going to do? Sell them? To whom and for how much less? To the Saudi Prem? To immediate league rivals with probably better suiting systems for them to actually develop or perform at really high level? Yeah, you can't praise a bet that much.
The fact that average/slightly above average/young promising but unproven players are costing 50m+ is very worrying, I don’t see how this can go on. There isn’t an infinite amount of money, at some point this will break football.
Hello, Alfie. Can you make a video about what is going on with Malaysian football right now? With the senior national team are prepared for playing at Asian Cup in January next year, Johor Darul Takzim(JDT), one of Malaysia biggest football club are aim to achieve 9 time Malaysian Super League in row in this season. JDT also unbeaten in all the competition in this season and Malaysian under 17s squad are crash out in group stage on AFC Under-17 Asian Cup.
there's no interesting story there, though. You want to just to take a look at Malaysian football? Why? At least many other ideas have an interesting story, this one is just "hey can you take a look at my country's football"
As an arsenal fan, 8th is incredibly generous. Id say something more like 14th or 13th is appropriate, we’ve left ourselves woefully short in defence and attack.
@@craigbather6316signing Kai havertz full stop was a fucking disgrace. So many better options, how did spurs get maddison for 25 million cheaper? Ridiculous!
I think we should be lower due to havertz and raya is questionable. Do not agree we have left ourselves short in attack and def. My big disappointment is that arteta won’t give esr another try after what he did for the club 2 years ago. It is an absolute insult to sign a very mediocre Kai for massive fee and massive wages. Both inhibiting esrs development and getting paid a fraction of what Kai does. If I was esr I would of forced move to Villa. It is especially damning given vieria form , the fact we couldn’t persuade xhaka to stay one more season and we were helping Chelsea out of ffp whole. Glad we didn’t do esr for murdyk though. But even the fact we were prepared to spend so much on him in jan makes me still sceptical of mikels recruitment despite happily been proven wrong about the likes of ramsdale and white for exorbitant fees
Ansu Fathi is an absolute Surprise it is like a total WTF he has gone to Brighton that is a coup. Liverpool should have tried to sign him had they lost Salah eairler in the Window. Honestly Brighton are gonna be brilliant and Villa which as a West Brom Fan hurts.
I do think they've overall sold well, though; Getting Mount and Havertz shipped off for around 130 overall (i think?) is decent business.

I think Chelsea will go bankrupt and be relegated within 5 years.
As well as the new signings at Spurs, Udogie coming in from his loan at Udinese and looking like he's played in the PL his entire career has been a big boost. Defence has been turned from a big weakness to a strength, albeit one lacking experienced depth at CB.

Agree with every point made

Perfectly said
As a Liverpool fan, I'm honestly quite pleased with their business, although the Salah issue still looms.
If we’d signed Lavia instead of Endo our window would’ve been just about perfect (with how Quansah has played pre season/first few games I think it’s fair to afford him a chance to show he can contribute instead of signing a new 3rd choice this window)
Not fully sure how Newcastle who signed Tonali, two teenage fullbacks for 30m each and replaced ASM with Harvey Barnes had a better window lol

Ten Hag still needs McTominay and Sancho for squad depth. Those other two though, not sure at all. Van de Beek has zero market value left and Maguire...
Its easy enough saying get rid its who wants them like maguire rejected west ham and VDB rejected lorient you cant help it
As a Forest fan, I am excited to hear Alfie judge our mental deadline day.
So was I going into it, but shocked by both the ranking and the lack of mention of our marquee signing 😢
"Probably to Chelsea " was the icing on the cake on an already great video. 😅 Great job as always!
Unlike most modern stadiums, it’s not a concrete bowl on an industrial estate out of town, it’s right in our town centre, it has stands of different sizes which are as close to the pitch as they can be (West Ham take note)
This season’s money secures our future, we will never spend recklessly and the so called expert pundits just don’t get us ( Crooks, Shearer, Lineker etc) ( Thogden is not an expert , so he doesn’t count, unless you include self publicity)
Keep up your excellent work, and good luck to the Tigers, until next year of course, when we will be back in the Championship, or will we????
In my opinion Spurs and Kane were holding each other back. Spurs will have more freedom and will progress well without Kane
@@yidarmy2323
With the players they have now, they’ll be experiencing a new feel.
What on earth was negative about the manner of Kane's departure?
With Burnley, the worry is not because they have lost 3 games against better opposition. It's because they are shipping a lot of goals at home in a way that feels avoidable. I think that only the Man City scoreline is acceptable. Conceding 3 goals at home to Villa, and 5 to Spurs, due to a stubborn highline rather than a more pragmatic approach, must be annoying to Burnley fans.
They lack creativity in midfield and a focal point upfront
this guy said ‘chelsea’s enormous squad’ as he put a picture of caicedos mum on the screen😭 never change
Really? From the outside seems the club is already relegated and planning next year championship

Harrison and Beto are great signings. Everton cannot possibly be last in this list.
Perfect for winding down before some sleep. I'm out of the loop with the rosters atm.
Man U getting Mount is probably one of the strangest signings I’ve seen. I don’t see how they thought adding him to a midfield of Bruno and Casimero would balance things

Very good, Hull dark horses for promotion. Please do the the Championship transfers rankings as well ( or am I nuts)!
it’s definitely possible maybe just a bit more strength in depth and then would be a favourite for it next season
Would love to see Hull back in the Prem!
Two signings of the season so far? Maddison and Ward-Prowse.
And Dominic Szoboszlai
Rice is also great (2 POTM and a clutch goal), but with such transfer fee that was kinda expected.
Dom, grave, mac, endo only cost 117m? Are you sure about that?
i think Nkunku will be a game changer for Chelsea when fit, he is an elite level centre forward and with that midfield 3 behind him could have a very good season
I agree losing him was a huge blow. this is a guy that Ive been saying PSG should have kept years ago

I will also add that I'm personally happy with our business of securing a 38 game a season striker and not selling Pickford/Branthwaite/Onana
Phil Giles I feel just panicked and went 'oooooohhh f*ck - um, quick just sign Maupay back - f*ck it'
even though he hasn't done ANYTHING for Everton and was just ok for Brighton (from what I saw) just sums up the sh*t show that is the second half of our transfer window
Early on - my hopes were high:
- 3rd season in the Prem
- great finish last season (with a European spot this season)
- 2 (3) great signings really early on the Window giving me hope that we could secure a big signing in attack.
but no...
with about 2 (or 3) days to go it was looking bright - PSV had agreed a bid for Bakayoko and Johnson was still on the cards (kind of) with other options like Ekitike also a possibility.
then in less than 12 hrs it all went to sh*t:
- Johnson --> Spurs
- Ekitike staying at PSG
-Bakayoko staying at PSV (for UCL)
thus, overall I am frustrated at the window. Whilst happy with the signings of Schade, Flekken and Collins - I am disappointed we couldn't bag a decent replacement for Toney (for until Jan. at least)
(oh don't worry at least we signed 5 or 6 B team players! 😂)
and I can only hope Maupay will be a success although I am not sure - not tall or strong and I don't think he'll fit out style of play but we'll see I guess
(btw well done if you read all of this! I appreciate it lol!)

To me the worst thing was the consistent selling of assets and reduction of wages to help with the FFP rules, selling young players like Cannon who could develop into something and proven useful with a squad that perennially has amongst the most injuries while being already threadbare.

GK - Sanchez, Bettenelli, Petrovic
LB - Chillwell, Cucu
CB - Disasi, Badiashile, Silva, Colwill, (Fofana out for season, Chalobah to be sold)
RB - James, Gusto
CM - Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia, Gallagher,
CAM - Nkunku, Chuky
RW - Palmer, Madueke
LW - Sterling, Mudryk
ST - Jackson, Broja
That's a squad of 23, including some of the youngsters such as Maatsen, Lesley, Burstow and Humphries and you have a normal premier league squad
I have big hsv vibes about Everton . Former big club that didn’t reach the top for some time so they spend money till they got no more . Then 3-4 years with nearly a relegation with completely other option about the club from the Owner .
Wolves fan here, mightily relived to see us outside the bottom three on your list 😅 Very accurate and measured assessment as usual
Good to hear the blades have a fighting chance. Looking forwards to having McAtee back!
I agree on man united being so low. Overpaid for hoijlund and mount, didn't get in enough players and didn't sell enough deadwood. And why did we sign Evans!!!
I can't believe I bought Callum Hudson-odoi as a star player who became 92 rated playing as Forrest back in fifa 19 and now he's actually at forrest
I think for newcastle selling Saint-maxamin is a huge mistake but obviously I don’t know but he’s very different from Harvey Barnes and could have been useful for rotation especially with a European season coming along
Really good video this mate, could you do top 20 European teams best signings of the transfer window summer 2023. Who has had the best ?
Didn't expect to see a John Prescott meme. This is why I'm here I guess.
You're welcome for Liam Delap, Alfie. Hoping City get better favour in future videos hahaha
10:15 smiling through the pain
As a Fulham fan, I couldn't agree more with our ranking. I'm happy with Bassey, I think Iwobi, Jiminez (As a plan B) and Castagne will be useful but the fact we haven't replaced Mitrovic at all speaks volumes of where we're going as a club. We had all summer to find a good replacement yet we did nothing.
I think origi would have suited Fulham
Still got Carlos Vinicius
"probably to chelsea" is the perfect sign-off
Alfie continues to hate on United, it’s okay his team wont be sniffing the prem anytime soon.
Brighton did just make one misstake. They loand the best german forward to Stuttgart, which has provided them with 9 goals and 2 assists in 11 matches.
Still hoping for that Austrian Wunderteam video 😇✌.
Alfie ranking Everton 20th like he doesn’t know Beto is the Portuguese Haaland.
Love the content, keep it up !
22:58 - I see what you did there 😅
Judging Chelsea 14th is fairly ridiculous.
They signed a ball playing keeper who's an upgrade on De Gea and knows Ten Hg well, a Champions League winning England international for 55 mil in today's market is great business, Amrabat is a great addition on the cheap and Hojlund whilst overpriced and a risk has serious potential and all the makings of a top striker.
nononono, mount is not worth 60m, he’s worth 25m
@@jadend2074 Guy was Chelsea's best player two seasons in a row and won a Champions League. How many UCL winning English internationals are you getting for 25 mil? This is a transfer market where Kalvin Philips cost 50 mil and Rice cost 105.
Mount had one bad season where he was mostly injured. Only kids on Twitter who don't actually watch games would say that he's a bad player. Two of the best managers in the world in Klopp and Tuchel wanted him as well. Do you know more than them?
Mount is a quality player and 55 million for an English player in today's market is cheap if anything.
@@areebsiddiqui758 he’s really not good, in the wolves game, he did nothing, he was as useless as a broken phone, how the hell can u say he’s a world class player when a club wanted him to leave? They clearly wanted him gone, if he was that good they would’ve kept him, u COULDVE gotten Brennan Johnson, a young exciting player who can play anywhere across the front line, but instead u got a Bruno Fernandez backup for 60m he’s not even getting picked for the englands national team (although it’s corrupted by the fact Southgate chose maguire) ur window was crap just accept it, Mount is overrated, u signed a haaland who got benched over a enslaved martial, a banana merchant in Onana, and Amrabat who u COULDVE got for less than 50% of the mount money, but u got him on loan smh, ur only chance of being in the UCL next year is dropping out of the champions league into europa and try to win it, Although ur not beating us seagulls
@@jadend2074 I'm a Chelsea fan you clown. Our owners messed up with Mount's contract. He was literally our best player for two years. He literally won us a Champions League but I guess he's a bad player cause some kids on twitter said so. We're just as bad now that he's left.
Imagine judging a player based off of one game.
Selling Philogene to Hull was the only option for Villa, he wanted to leave and he only had a single year left on his deal
I can't believe you missed Ibrahim Sangare to Forest.
we need a video on Forest's transfer deadline day deals
Liverpool should probably sell Salah if they get some wild offer as is being suggested, will suck in the ahort run but a great move long term
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 543)
I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
I'll refrain from making any judgements until at least halfway through the season, rather than off the back of 3 games.
Nice to see Luton town ranked fourth
💥FACT💥
City 🇦🇪 UAE has spent billions to win 9 premier league titles exactly like Everton😒
Neither of those teams have 9 PL titles
The fact that average/slightly above average/young promising but unproven players are costing 50m+ is very worrying, I don’t see how this can go on. There isn’t an infinite amount of money, at some point this will break football.
At least, Everton made some good signings, Wolves didnt spend much because the january window
Wolves being that high is insane
22:20 Just don't ask who the previous record-holder was.
Palatial double entendre.
No mention of Sangare to Forest XD
spurs had a class transfer window
Definitely, Vicario is class
Thank you Terry Tibbs junior.
No
No from me.
Unless there are huge numbers of viewers in Malaysia it's not going to happen because there's no interest in Malaysian football in the UK.
there's no interesting story there, though. You want to just to take a look at Malaysian football? Why? At least many other ideas have an interesting story, this one is just "hey can you take a look at my country's football"
Seems to be a lot of Alfies watching this channel
Indonesia and Vietnam have the strongest national teams in South East Asia right? I remember both were close from qualifying to the World Cup.
We sold Maupay. I think that puts us 1st
As an arsenal fan, 8th is incredibly generous. Id say something more like 14th or 13th is appropriate, we’ve left ourselves woefully short in defence and attack.
yeah and signing kai havertz when weve already got oddegard and fabio veria doesnt make any sense
@@craigbather6316signing Kai havertz full stop was a fucking disgrace. So many better options, how did spurs get maddison for 25 million cheaper? Ridiculous!
@@craigbather6316
Exactly, Rice was a good signing although extremely overpriced.
You are not a Arsenal fan.
How Arteta signed Kai over Maddison still baffles me. Maddsion would have been a huge improvemnet on Xhaka as an 8 .
While i don't disagree with your positiong for Nottingham Forest, you never mentioned the main signing of Sangare
I am more thinking about our ownership than our transfers. If glazers leave thats better than any transfer for me
This shows how attractive the PL is
ManU is wildly underrated in this list.
In December 2023, Manchester United's position LOOKS very right .
You done Nottingham dirty mate Sangare?? Coulda sworn all the top teams wanted him in January
