@@foroyardk There are many influences in this song, Faroese Folk being just one of them. Musically you still have to sit down and write this. It's an insanely difficult song to sing anywhere near the level she does. It's a work of genius really. It's credited as words and music by Eivor.
Faroese throat singing has been explained by vocal coach reactors in competent ways that I never could. I am also a fan of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra (check out their performance of The Good The Bad and The Ugly soundtrack!) I have previously only heard different performances of Trollabundin, usually with Eivor performing only with a drum that she holds. This was EPIC!

@@michaelnolan6951 No worries, man. You couldn't have known. Especially since she is borrowing from a lot of different singing techniques. It's all good. Just sayin', that it isn't native to us here. If you want something more native Faroese, search for Faroese chain dance and ballads.

from Wikipedia .. Around 900 AD, the language spoken in the Faroes was Old Norse, which Norse settlers had brought with them during the time of the settlement of Faroe Islands (landnám) that began in 825. However, many of the settlers were not from Scandinavia, but descendants of Norse settlers in the Irish Sea region. In addition, women from Norse Ireland, Orkney, or Shetland often married native Scandinavian men before settling in the Faroe Islands and Iceland. As a result, the Irish language has had some influence on both Faroese and Icelandic.
And everyone should remember that there were Vikings from the Scottish islands in the Faroe Islands 200 years before there were any Vikings in Iceland. Vikings did not come to Iceland until 200 years after Vikings settled in the Faroe Islands. The Nordic language changed little by little, the more the Vikings mixed with other nations, while the Faroe Islands were totally isolated without influence from anyone with their Viking language for many hundreds of years. So the Vikings who came to Iceland 200 years after the Faroe Islands were populated by Vikings did not have quite the same language as the Vikings on the Faroe Islands. The Vikings on the Faroe Islands spoke the old Nordic language unaffected by other languages from other countries. Therefore, people from Iceland and people from the Faroe Islands do not speak quite the same today, but they can understand each other if they talk and make an effort. People often say about Iceland that Icelanders are the last Vikings. That claim can be reversed if Icelanders first came to Iceland 200 years after Vikings came to the Faroe Islands with the Viking language, which was the old Viking language for 200 years before the Icelanders' language came into being, then the Faroes are the oldest Viking people left and the oldest Viking language there are in the world today. The bottom line is that Iceland is world-famous for its volcanoes. Most people do not know the Faroe Islands and therefore the Faroe Islands have gone under the radar of most people and thus the Viking language has also been preserved in the best manner. So the Faroese language is the most original Viking language today because the Faroese have preserved the language and are proud to have their unique language. And it is the old Viking language Eivør often sings and the old Viking language Eivør sings in the film series in all seasons and the film The Last Kingdom on Netflix.
So haunting. Eivor sets the stage for a Viking ritual. Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire Spellbound I am, I am The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood

'Galdr' is a Norse kind of magic (song). Odin is famous for knowing many galdrar. She sings about being spellbound by a galdramadr, meaning a wizard who sings galdr, which is a type of very high pitched magic song, otherwise mainly sung by women, since this magic was considered 'ergi' (unmanly). Men more often used rune magic (rungaldr). It was also used in Seidr magic to enchant the listener, or help what ever magic you were doing. And her spellbinding works, right? ;) I'm always spellbound by this song.
If you are interested then there is a brand new version of this song. It is from the celebratory concert for the Danish queen who is abdicating today (So the Kingdom of Denmark is in a bit of a royal overload at the moment). It is combined with a performance by the inuit artist Inuanima). The performance is as usual for Eivor different but incredible. ruclips.net/video/xuiWDrsW-po/видео.html You can seen Eivor in full concert costume but with her knighthood order (She was knighted by the Danish queen a few years ago)
this is taken from the symphonic viking voyage, the concert that i have reccomended a hundred times because it's so AWESOME! and i'm not sure if this one here or the one recorded in the norwegian mountains is my favourite. they are both very different. her throat singing in this version is really bad ass! tròdlabùndin eri eg eri eg // spellbound I am, I am galdramaður festi meg festi meg // the wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me tròdlabùndin djúpt í míni sál í míni sál // spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul Í hjartanum logar brennandi bál brennandi bál // in my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire tròdlabùndin eri eg eri eg // spellbound I am, I am galdramaður festi meg festi meg // the wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me tròdlabùndin inn í hjartarót í hjartarót // spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root eyga mítt festist har ið galdramaðurin stóð // my eyes gaze to where the wizard stood i really feel honoured that you appreciate my effort to promote my queen. ;) i think after this journey into her nordic vibes it's about time to discover some other sides of her: wake me up live at RTT - when she forgets for a few moments bo be human and sings her drummer into extasy gloomy sunday together with ginman after dark - an absolut phenomenal version of this legendary song. she looks sexy in suit and tie boxes or true love live recording from 2012 - her higher register is such a pleasure to hear truth live at studio bloch - very modern song without any tribal vibes or throat singing, just a banger slor london solo sessions - a song where i prefer the english version over the faroese, stripped down to her and a guitar the list is really endless! and i have some more artist you yet havn't heard about. one of them is this here: ruclips.net/video/vk76_iqw-Pc/видео.html
Dang, that NRK special has REALLY left a terrible mark. There is no Faroese word spelled tròdlabùndin... we use neither ò nor ù. The word is spelled Trøllabundin. Not blaming you but NRK. It's so sad that this has happened. Oh well...
So, I am glad to see people reacting to Faroese things. So, here goes. I have a few metal bands that you'd probably like, so I am just going to list them. But the first two will stand out and those are Týr and Hamradun. The others are SiC, Synarchy, and Hamferð.
