    People keep asking me why wear a TOPS Knives shirt. I like them too! I have an LT Shirt too, but that would look like a paid commercial or something. The Gauntlet is supposed to be free of bias. Everyone knows I EDC LT Wright. No need to spread it on so thick.
    Next time I review a TOPS, I'll wear my LT shirt. To make it fair. Honestly? I didn't even notice myself until I was almost done editing the video.

    STOP PRESS: Local Man Turns Running Shoe Into Flip Flop!
    Another outstanding video, Chris. Wow, what a knife. Total functional simplicity. Good ergonomics; killer edge; what's not to like. Even with the sick Aussie dollar I'll be wishing this one is under the Christmas tree. BTW so glad to see Rick Lindsey's fire steel showering a cascade of sparks there. Rick's making one for me now; can't wait!
    Good work!

    Every time I am looking at a knife a PM101 review magically pops up! I was just looking at this and its little brother the woodland trail minutes ago and decided to check my youtube. The same thing happened when I was looking at the GNS.
    As always, great review and keep up the good work.

    I was very surprised to see this knife pop up on this channel. I saw a picture of an old Blind Horse Knives produced Forest Trails, and this knife has been on my mind for a few months. It looks like a fantastic knife.
    I wonder if L.T. would be willing to make one custom with a 6 inch blade 3/16 thick out of O1. That would probably be my ideal multipurpose woods knife.

    Very impressed with this knife! I know this is a lil older video but I just recently was able to buy this blade in Saber grind and in polished green canvas micarta handles and I couldn’t be more impressed with this knife! The ergos are crazy comfortable and the blade design is perfect IMHO. I tend to lean with saber grinds and this knife came razor sharp and the spine is awesome to throw sparks! I was also impressed with the kydex sheath from LT.Thanx Chris!!

    This knife seems a little bit out of LTs comfort zone as it seems like a larger version of his medium sized knives. It's a beautiful knife though. I just think for instance the BK2 has a small/medium knife feel/look and the BK7 even has a large knife feel/look. Just what I get from this initial video. Look forward to the rest of the gauntlet.

    That is a sweet knife, looks like just the right size as you mentioned. Batoning it did very well. That hardwood is tough stuff bro. If that is hurting your hand thru that knot, you know that would be where it would fail, if it was going to. Alot of tension is going thru the entire blade, great job on the batoning. Loved the sound track with feather sticking and I agree, it is far better with music haha. Spine is certainly sharp. Looks like a sweet knife man.HAHA sneaker massacre lol great vid man.I'm looking forward to testing this knife bro, looks sweet man, thanks again.

    Nice review and yes a knife like that is terrific out of box. My only concerns are that A-2 steel is kinda hard to sharpen and I would prefer a handle with out a "crows beak", that is straight ; got to say all your reviews are to the point , you know you don't repeat yourself like some others do. Nice tip on the strop you made also.

    Good Review, the LT Knives looks so nice. The LT Wright Knives looks neat to me and I don't mind the price but if I'm paying top dollar for a knife especially a "big" knife I'd prefer 1/4 inch thick blades or at least 3/16ths. Most of the LT knives just seem too thin, which makes them not good for light chopping and or batoning. I wished LT would get into making some BIG knives, preferably around 7 inches, with thicker steels. Dream knife would be a BK7 that's 1/4 thick without the thumb ramp lol

    • @preparedmind101
      @preparedmind101  9 лет назад +1

      Veritas Chevalier This one is 5/32's of LT heat-treated A2. That's plenty thick (the thickest he makes, to my knowledge)

    • @thelasthuntsmanoutdoors
      @thelasthuntsmanoutdoors 9 лет назад

      Yea and the steel is awesome and is just fine but just for shear chopping and batoning purposes it would be cool to see something uber thick, like a BK2 or Esee 5 from Lt wright in their badass A2 steel.

    • @preparedmind101

    LT makes a dam good knife but they are so high on prices ! i understand there is probably some overhead there but ive looked into the materials to make knives alot and have made a couple now by hand and i just dont see the justification for charging that much when the materials run 50-60 bucks for 1 knife!

    • @preparedmind101
      @preparedmind101  9 лет назад +4

      Materials are only half the making of a knife. Lot of man hours, skill, grinding, shaping, heat treat...if materials are that much your still getting a deal. Just having raw material is a LOOOONG way from a quality knife.

    • @kitcraft9516
      @kitcraft9516 9 лет назад +3

      PREPAREDMIND101 Not to mention tool and machine maintenance, utilities, insurance, advertisement etc.
      As far as price is concerned I find LT to be of lower cost than many of the semi-custom knives I look at. Just buying a nice leather or kydex sheath from another maker often times runs you half the cost of an LT knife that already comes with a quality sheath.
      As an aside, these reviews always hurt my wallet. :D

    What is it with knife reviewer's and the need to beat the crap out of a knife with a baton? If you found yourself in a real no BS survival situation and your only tool is that knife you better treat it like it's your new born baby, the only reason you would /should ever need to baton a knife would be to make a bow drill set!!

    • @preparedmind101
      @preparedmind101  9 лет назад +3

      You do it in testing so you know what it can handle. Any knife that can't handle batoning is worthless to me. There are plenty of reasons to baton. Pepping wet wood to burn, making a fire board (like you said), making trap components, etc.
      Over-batoning isn't being stupid, it's a knife reviewer/tester thing. We push the limits of the knife so you can feel completely confident within them.
