People keep asking me why wear a TOPS Knives shirt. I like them too! I have an LT Shirt too, but that would look like a paid commercial or something. The Gauntlet is supposed to be free of bias. Everyone knows I EDC LT Wright. No need to spread it on so thick.
Next time I review a TOPS, I'll wear my LT shirt. To make it fair. Honestly? I didn't even notice myself until I was almost done editing the video.
You can't please everyone. Someone from the peanut gallery will always make a smart remark, warranted or not.
I've owned this knife about six months now and it is a absolute joy to use I wouldn't trade it for the world
Have one in saber grind and absolutely love it
STOP PRESS: Local Man Turns Running Shoe Into Flip Flop!
Another outstanding video, Chris. Wow, what a knife. Total functional simplicity. Good ergonomics; killer edge; what's not to like. Even with the sick Aussie dollar I'll be wishing this one is under the Christmas tree. BTW so glad to see Rick Lindsey's fire steel showering a cascade of sparks there. Rick's making one for me now; can't wait!
Good work!
Cool knife. I can't wait to play with this one. I like large knives.
Every time I am looking at a knife a PM101 review magically pops up! I was just looking at this and its little brother the woodland trail minutes ago and decided to check my youtube. The same thing happened when I was looking at the GNS.
As always, great review and keep up the good work.
I was very surprised to see this knife pop up on this channel. I saw a picture of an old Blind Horse Knives produced Forest Trails, and this knife has been on my mind for a few months. It looks like a fantastic knife.
I wonder if L.T. would be willing to make one custom with a 6 inch blade 3/16 thick out of O1. That would probably be my ideal multipurpose woods knife.
🤣 feather sticking with a dope soundtrack 🤙
This knife looks perfect for me btw
dont think you can get anything better for the money than lt wright right now
Got to love LT's knives.
Thx Chris, nice review. That knife looks like a super nice knife. I was not aware of this knife. And I did not know LT was making large knives. Thx again.
Jerry
Very nice knife. Wow that spine throws some sparks ha ha. They make a sharp knife wow.
Probably one of my favorite videos so far, great knife, and your hilarious, plus the feather stick soundtrack haha
When I'm dreaming my perfect survival situation this is the knife on my side. It's a beauty but my SCHF 42 is filling this void for a lot less. Nice job!
Just from seeing that knife for the first time, I really want to have one almost immediately!
A beautiful knife like all that is made by LT Wright.
That's one awesome sheath!
11:10 LOL'd at the Red Bull comment! Great video as always, Chris.
CHRIS ,, which would be better for a primary knife for xlarge hands. An LT sospes, or the LT Forest trail???
Very impressed with this knife! I know this is a lil older video but I just recently was able to buy this blade in Saber grind and in polished green canvas micarta handles and I couldn’t be more impressed with this knife! The ergos are crazy comfortable and the blade design is perfect IMHO. I tend to lean with saber grinds and this knife came razor sharp and the spine is awesome to throw sparks! I was also impressed with the kydex sheath from LT.Thanx Chris!!
Do you still have the Forest trail? Would you place it up with your top 3 top 5 belt knives?
@@greekveteran2715 unfortunately I sold it a year ago and I regret it! I’m actually looking to buy another saber grind Forest Trail right now. Its Absolutely one of my all time favorite belt Knives.
@@mr.delacruz559 It looks like the perfect belt knife! It was that,Survive knives GSO4.7 or the TRC Mille Cuori. Where I live,I could only get the TRC but I always eyeball thee Forest Trail, hoping I can get it someday!
@@greekveteran2715 those are excellent knives on their own. What sets the forest trail apart is the handle. It’s the list comfortable /ergonomic handle I’ve ever used. Knife connection has forest trails in stock right now in 3V. Hope I helped. Have a great weekend!
@@mr.delacruz559 Thanks man,I really appreciate it! I don't think I"ll resist getting it! Thanks again!
Very well done.
This knife seems a little bit out of LTs comfort zone as it seems like a larger version of his medium sized knives. It's a beautiful knife though. I just think for instance the BK2 has a small/medium knife feel/look and the BK7 even has a large knife feel/look. Just what I get from this initial video. Look forward to the rest of the gauntlet.
He's got big stuff. Just not everyone knows about them...
That is a sweet knife, looks like just the right size as you mentioned. Batoning it did very well. That hardwood is tough stuff bro. If that is hurting your hand thru that knot, you know that would be where it would fail, if it was going to. Alot of tension is going thru the entire blade, great job on the batoning. Loved the sound track with feather sticking and I agree, it is far better with music haha. Spine is certainly sharp. Looks like a sweet knife man.HAHA sneaker massacre lol great vid man.I'm looking forward to testing this knife bro, looks sweet man, thanks again.
Nice review and yes a knife like that is terrific out of box. My only concerns are that A-2 steel is kinda hard to sharpen and I would prefer a handle with out a "crows beak", that is straight ; got to say all your reviews are to the point , you know you don't repeat yourself like some others do. Nice tip on the strop you made also.
The Mongo Scaaty Crafter is an even beefier knife made by LT Wright, which is also on my "Must Have" list.
awesome knife as always good review
I want one so bad but there out of stock sadness
I've got a review of the simbad sword on my channel!
Chris the link for the gauntlets website is either dead or incorrect. Having trouble finding it otherwise.
Fixed. Typo
Please do a review on the Mongo Scaaty Crafter. I
Good Review, the LT Knives looks so nice. The LT Wright Knives looks neat to me and I don't mind the price but if I'm paying top dollar for a knife especially a "big" knife I'd prefer 1/4 inch thick blades or at least 3/16ths. Most of the LT knives just seem too thin, which makes them not good for light chopping and or batoning. I wished LT would get into making some BIG knives, preferably around 7 inches, with thicker steels. Dream knife would be a BK7 that's 1/4 thick without the thumb ramp lol
Veritas Chevalier This one is 5/32's of LT heat-treated A2. That's plenty thick (the thickest he makes, to my knowledge)
Yea and the steel is awesome and is just fine but just for shear chopping and batoning purposes it would be cool to see something uber thick, like a BK2 or Esee 5 from Lt wright in their badass A2 steel.
Hmmm....sounds about like what I'm going to pay him to make me. With the Jessmuk handle. But not at tall spine to edge as the BK7.
Hey Chris, great video. Could you recommend to me a mid sized fix blade knife that would be considered a one tool option because I only have funds for one knife, but it can be expensive, but not as much as the knife detailed above.
As usual, I enjoyed your review. I own a Genesis and small work horse. They are both good knives. The Forrest Trail seems to be comparable to Battle Horse's Scout Platoon or Highlander. ( both in O1 which I love) . What is your thoughts on Battle Horse?
Hey Chris, can you start doing videos each time a new alone episode comes out?
Can you review an adventure sworn knife?
Andrew
I Like Large Knives, and I can not lie!
What vape is that?
Question: Where do you get the "kiln dried" wood? A lumber mill? A local kiln? Just curious.
Good review. You've come far, Pilgrim.
Home Depot, Lowe's...take your pick.
Old post but how does this compare to a bark river bravo 1.25 LT?
Hey Chris do you have a Sillcock Key? If you do is it in your preps/EDC?
Chris I'm in the U.K. is it available for export brother??
You'd have to contact the knife connection on that. Not sure. I know LT ships international. I'm assuming they would.
what is the second choice after a MoraKnife ?
Off topic. But what kind of clip is that holding your istick 30w on your pocket? And where did u get it. Thanks
Do you Know if LT ships to Sweden
That looks like the adventure sworn mountanier
Shoe test on point! Pretty much how I dress a squirrel. Nice demo.
best edge test
Nice knife good review (like the red bull joke) keep the reviews coming
"Dont have any hair left" PREPAREDMIND101 A true knife lovers problem
No, you didn't say Jessica in this video... at least I didn't hear it.
What the hell Chris no fluffy shoe sticks, no 4 lace shoe trap and nothing of everyone's favourite the one shoe fire....oh it's about the knife oops sorry about that lmao, great job mate
My bad.
Saya minat vid awk Chris, tapi saya xapat UTK beli pisau² Tu,kerana duit mlsia terlalu banyak perlu saya kluarkan sdngkan NK mkn pon trpaksa jimat,so...bro kalau ada pisau yg u rasa boleh giveaway, plis sent me a knife Blade 7" up, or machete ,saya amat minat Thai land machete,yg anda pernah review satu masa..dan saya kan mereview kan apa yg anda bgi PD saya ke org² kampong saya utama sekali kawan² saya..teruskan usaha anda, may ur god bless u...chow!!!
how disappointing i waited the whole video for the arm shave and it didnt happen what a let down. nah im just messing that is a sweet knife but its an LT i have to save for nice knives it may make it on my wish list but getting my jessmuk is my top priority
I have to wait for the hair to grow back after the Worksharp video.
Lose the music
Make sure you don't waste it...always eat it after you skin it out!
LT makes a dam good knife but they are so high on prices ! i understand there is probably some overhead there but ive looked into the materials to make knives alot and have made a couple now by hand and i just dont see the justification for charging that much when the materials run 50-60 bucks for 1 knife!
Materials are only half the making of a knife. Lot of man hours, skill, grinding, shaping, heat treat...if materials are that much your still getting a deal. Just having raw material is a LOOOONG way from a quality knife.
PREPAREDMIND101 Not to mention tool and machine maintenance, utilities, insurance, advertisement etc.
As far as price is concerned I find LT to be of lower cost than many of the semi-custom knives I look at. Just buying a nice leather or kydex sheath from another maker often times runs you half the cost of an LT knife that already comes with a quality sheath.
As an aside, these reviews always hurt my wallet. :D
Getting a 250$ LT W knife and destroying it with a batan?? Never !
👍👊
feathersticking IS better with a cool soundtrack
Excellent knife though 😆
lol, you wear a TOPS shirt as you do a favorable review of an LT Wright knife…..
1st Comment! Woot!
What is it with knife reviewer's and the need to beat the crap out of a knife with a baton? If you found yourself in a real no BS survival situation and your only tool is that knife you better treat it like it's your new born baby, the only reason you would /should ever need to baton a knife would be to make a bow drill set!!
You do it in testing so you know what it can handle. Any knife that can't handle batoning is worthless to me. There are plenty of reasons to baton. Pepping wet wood to burn, making a fire board (like you said), making trap components, etc.
Over-batoning isn't being stupid, it's a knife reviewer/tester thing. We push the limits of the knife so you can feel completely confident within them.
bark river better
