    I’ve had mine for over three years and everything about it, tip to tail and even the sheath have me convinced this is meant to last a lifetime. Possibly several lifetimes.

    I've been trying to get a SOSPES knife for a few years now!
    I guess LT is no longer making these most awesome Tarzan-type knives anymore, which is a real knife industry shame, in my opinion!
    People that are hopeful of purchasing a SOSPES need to let LT know it, and maybe he'll bring this beauty back into production for his fans.
    Just looking at a SOSPES knife makes me feel like knife fighting an alligator! ( I REALLY NEED A SOSPES!)

    This Deer season can you did a vid processing a Deer with the Genesis. I have a BHK Woodrafter which is very similar to the Genesis in design. I've been very curious as to the how well the blade design does on a Deer. It's nice to finally hear someone include hunting into the bushcraft conversation which is a huge part of Bushcraft and survival. Bushcraft as of late has devolved into making stick fires and building shelters and all but forgot hunting. Godspeed and thanks for the vid!

      ***** Thats because if you aren't already on a hunt, you're going to catch extreme amounts of flak if you're cutting up animals just to do a test video. Lots of crazies out there. I had someone report 35 pictures on my personal Facebook page of processing a hog in a class for graphic abuse of an animal.

    • @LetoAt77

      What's sad is those same hypocrites where probably all wearing leather shoes and eating hamburgers and hotdogs...Well hopefully someone from our community will be making a hunting video this season and just happen to be using a Genesis. As I said before I have a BHK Woodcrafter that's very similar in design, I haven't had a chance to process an animal or fish with it yet and am curious how it will perform, I always imagined something like a GNS, Jacklore etc with a different blade tip would perform better in that aspect. Thanks again gentlemen.

    I've seen old school butcher knives in this style. They are always described as "sticker" or "bleeder" knives. Old Hickory sells one called the "pig sticker" for example. Another one by Green River I believe calls the style a bleeder sort of knife for bleeding animals you have killed and hung up I suppose. it's because of the spear point obviously. These butchers also have the little finger guard, so with this style spear point knife they are in fact meant for a slight stabbing or sticking purpose as well as a general knife blade.. I think Kephart must have liked that style of butcher, and now the style is called "Kephart"

    This was a good knife review. Most that I have seen just baton and cut some feathers or even worse just hold a brand new knife over a table and talk like they know something about how well it works based on what they read online. Nice to see someone actually cut notches and discuss how the blade performs for these finer tasks.

    I’ve been using a rock strike technique where you put the char cloth next to the rock. Saw it on RUclips and it is in a position to catch more sparks. Do a search. May be something you want to try.

    William which handle do you prefer better, this one or the one on the Bushcrafter HC? They're similar knives in shape, but I don't know if that finger choil in the HC would be awkward for leverage vs a handle with no choil. I also like the scallops in the Genesis but the Genesis is more than twice the cost of the Bushcrafter HC... Thanks, great video as always. -Mike

    You have done some great reviews but I'd like to see some more direct comparisons so I can better understand which is the best knife for my needs. I am considering an LT Wright knife and would like to better understand the differences in their line. So far, you love the Bushcrafter, the Genesis, and the GNS, but haven't (that I have seen) specifically compared them. It doesn't have to be which is best, but just what the specific pros and cons and best uses are for each knife. I'd like you to comment on whether the extra money for the GNS and then the Genesis is worth it compared to the Bushcrafter. For a really complete review, include both the saber and scandi GNS (and compare them), and also the Gary Wines Bushcrafter. Then we'd have a clear idea of the merits of all the LT Wright bushcraft knives. Thank you.

  • @toegoth

    Do you prefer the genesis to the gns? I know they have different steels neither of which I have a lot of experience with so I was wondering which you would recommend for a bushcraft/survival knife cause I don't know which to buy. I'll eventually get both but I don't have the money at the moment.

    I've been trying different knife designs for half a century; and over the years, a few stood out as keepers, while most I don't even remember. Being a long time customer of Blind Horse Knives, I thought I owed it to L.T. Wright to try one of his products after he ventured out on his own. About two months before this video was released, I purchased the "One Foot In The Wild" Genesis. Surprisingly, I have never held a regular Genesis in my hand; but I have heard that the OFITW version's handle is beefier/thicker, perhaps because of the red liners incorporated with the black micarta scales. If this is true, it's absolutely perfect for my hands; in fact, it is so comfortable, that even after working with it in excess of four hours straight, my hands still had nary a blister or hot spots......... something that most reviews rarely mention (hand comfort after many hours of work). It's been over a year now, and I can say quite honestly, I've finally found "The One". For it's intended purpose, for my hands, this is the best knife I've ever used, and worth every dollar. This was a good video, with a damn good knife. L.T. Wright Knives is one of the best knife makers in the country, and they're sure to have a design that fits your hands, and your needs. If not, talk to them; they'll do their best to make it right, just for you.

  • @jeredsyn1964
    @jeredsyn1964 8 лет назад

    Will can you give me an idea of what would be better for me, a scandi or a flat grind. I know it depends on what you're going to use it for and at this point I don't do anything very technical like you were demonstrating but I want to. I guess I'm more like your partner Chris at this point, using big choppers to go out in the woods and make a mess. I guess the main thing at this point would be making a shelter like a lean-to or even a tee pee. And then of course getting a fire going and making some lunch, boiling water,cooking any meat like bacon on a stick. I get those Folgers coffee bags (like tea bags), they work out really well. So anything you could tell me between the two grinds would be helpful. Thanks Mike

    A knife is just a knife. It can't chop waf, or saw, or dig or pry. It's easy to turn that edge on a nail you dont see, or chip out the edge on a frozen knot, no mater what steel is used or who made it. I go with a Condor E tool ,modified to have a REAL saw edge, and a modified Crunch multitool, with a couple of saw blades to be held in the visegrip of the Crunch. No one belt knife is even 1/4 as capable as those 2 tools.

    I have an odd question. You obviously are very talented in bushcraft etc. So how can the viewer tell if the knife is good, or if what we see is more the expertise of the reviewer?

    • @preparedmind101
      @preparedmind101 9 лет назад +2

      Randy Chadwick Listen to what the reviewer tells you. Talent indicates experience. And you can't polish a turd. I know some say they can make any knife work, but when it's slicing easy feathers and doing all those tasks easy, you know it's good.

    Say Heah Will, Yeah, I hear you, we all have our preferences. I wish I would of got a couple more, I had a friend that use to make knives, He went by the name of G.E.K anyhow, He made me a Bushcraft Knife with a Choil since he knew I liked choils. I never ran out of blade lenght, even though it's a 4" blade, it's also a very thin edge, I would like to say a zero edge even though it's a 1/4" thick You would have to see it, It's a piece of art and he made it out of a saw blade. At that time saw blades were big deals. My knife is my Fav's although I have some nice bushcraft knives. So Yeah, I understand where your coming from when you said it's one of your Fav's or it is your Fav's. I mentioned this befire, But I'm also getting the Jessmuk and it should made a good Trio with my 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet and the Rough Rider I got in the Moose Pattern Sliojoint Pocket Knife. I don't mean to be funny, But yeah, I got that idea from Nessmuk, Have a Blessed, Healthy, Prisperous and Happy New Year. ,,, ,,,, ,,,,
