Best knot out there in my opinion
The amount of time and practice attempts it takes pays off in the end
And remember this is mono to brain
Agreed. I still haven't mastered it though lol. When I'm on the water and have to put a new leader on I default back to the double uni.
@@basshoggfishingI tied the Alberto once and it worked but I only learned the FG by heart and refuse to use anything different until I master it
@@Valetic6the alberto isnt that much thicker. If im setting up at home, ill tie the fg. If i break off in the field, its getting retied with an alberto
@@iceman5117 me too dude it’s just too much lol and I use light line so some of my setups can’t use the fg cuz it just slips right out, I guess the leader is too light for the braid to bite into it. I fish pretty open small ponds so there’s no point in using thicker line
@@Valetic6 Ive used the fg on 6pb braid to 4lb leader without issue. It's just a bit harder to tie and you have to be careful cinching it down. Try using more wraps
I use the pinky tension method. I change directions on the half hitches.(one ove one under) and run it past the end of the leader so it tapers.
I do 2 half hitches and then a constrictor knot. If you dont know what a constrictor knot is, you should check it out, its an amazing knot!
hi guys
is the mono and beraid same says?
what is the best knot for small mono to connect large beraid?
I love this knot. Used uni- uni and it got stuck on my guides to the point it flung lures back mid cast, breaking lures and almost hitting people. Hate it. Tried the fg and will never tie anything again. Uni to uni is nice for spooling braid
I’ve been trying to watch every video I can to find the best knot to use connecting a leader to my main line. This one seemed like it would be the best option for going through the guides the easiest! You can definitely tell the FG knot is more slim and would allow for easy sliding down through the guides. Whereas other knots look like a balled up knot.
Make a shorter leader to avoid the double uni running through your guides pop. I plan to learn the FG but i feel like it takes too long to get it perfect and seamless as possible, and I'd rather just do the uni to get back on to fish if it happens to break while I'm out
The day the alberto knot i tie fails on me i would use the fg knot! Trully if your drag is set right you dont need the strongest knot. I can tie 20 albertos in the time it take me to tie one fg.
Use that knot anyday of the week
does ur alberto fly thru the guides as seamlessly as the fg
@@lukejones4191 it depend on how good ur knot is
@@lukejones4191 doesnt affect my casting distance at all doesnt catch on the guides. is a shorter knot and just a tiny bit thicker
Love the Alberto as well, but I tie all my leaders at FGs at home before fishing trips. If a. Leader breaks while fishing I tie an alberto.
I thought the half hitches were different to that. I'll try these ones next time.
Awesome videos! Keep them up, and I'll pass the word on....🏴☠️New subscriber just found this and probably the best example yet.

This just reminds me of my 8 year niece trying to tie a knot
I use it all the time, but with only one half hitch and rizzuto finish.
is the white string the braid and the blue is the mono/fluoro in this demonstration?
i just made tied that knot took me half an hour to understand and at the end my mono just slipped away in my hands and i just started fishing
Very good 👍🏻
I've been using this knot for 6374 years and wouldn't use any other.
Except that other one and those others!
BEST KNOT OF ALL TIME!
Nice song:)
artists, trying this with a string as soon as I see it to make a bracelet😅
Great animation. But ditch all those half hitches and finish with the rizzuto knot. Those half hitches are chunkier than the FG knot itself.
Thank you bos..👏👏👏
Thank you too!

i use the alberto. i have never had an alberto fail but i fish for bass with leaders: flouro seaguar or trilene mono 15lb-6lb and on 6lb the fg is useless doesnt hold fails everytime. on 10lb some times fails no matter how many twists 20+ . i bet fg is great on higher diameter pound test where the alberto be too thick. people That fish salt water 80lbs test line leaderd has more diameter and the coils have more meat to bite.. but fishing below 15lb test the alberto flies thru the guides just as well.
Half hitches ruin the fg knot and make it bulky. Rather than finishing the wraps and tying half hitches to secure it,skip the hitches and whip finish/rizutto
Thais is Theo SF knot but doing in another form, is same knot
Double uni knot is better imo. Way faster to tie and ive never had one slip
If you only fish for bass I guess it’s fine. Go do some proper fishing and it won’t cut it.
Yeah fuck all that, Alberto and done 10 seconds
Simple
2 hours
goofy shh string
Gimme more hand!
Video is too fast to keep up with, there are better tutorials out there.
Didn't cinch.
Kelamaan, mending albert knot
❤❤❤
Great knot ruined with half hitches.
Sick ass
This is not as low profile compared to a double uni...not worth the trouble
Wrong.
It goes through the guides easier and is stronger.

@@redtobertshateshandles Fished double uni for decades it hasn't let me down, what has let me down is the FG knots difficulty and aversion during windy conditions tying the dam thing.🤣 tis a good knot though.
