Thanks for the wonderful video! I dropped the screw holding the pressure foot while cleaning out the bobbin case. I needed to know how to take another piece off of my baby lock so I could shake out the screw. It had fallen into that lower bottom area of the freearm cover. I removed it and Voila! I was able to get the screw out and put the machine back together. Thanks again!
I always remove the screws while all covers are still there. It only takes 1 screw to fall into the machine and you'll need to take it to the shop. I'm still not sure about blowing lint out. Besure the lint doesn't fly in to the machine never to be seen again. But, its a great video, Doug. I always enjoy them
I am so glad to learn that I should be doing some regular sewing on my machine instead of only using it for embroidery, which I do. I wish the dealers would tell us these things. We pay a lot of money for our machines and want them to last as long as possible. Thank you very much for your videos.
The dealers want you to bring yout machine to them because they are the pros & $. Keep in mind, too, if they break it, they fix it. If you break it somehow while cleaning it, your warranty is voided & you pay for the repair. Besides that, they do things like taking the front off to oil the machine - something we are not supposed to do.
Doug, you’re amazing. Thanks to you I just took D2 thru a nice cleaning and got it back together! Lol. Thanks sew much. It’s disappointing that our dealers don’t give any of this info when we purchase these wonderful machines. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for the details about replacement of the bobbin case! I'd cleaned mine and the hooking was not working (bobbin thread pulling up in large multi thread wads). After three full dismantling, checking everything, reinstalling and failing cycles I was ready to take it in. Since it's Sunday, thought I'd look for a video and found you. I've always gotten away with reinstalling the metal feed dog plate and the plastic bobbin cover plate in a single move. Didn't actually know I was supposed to do it in the order you show here. Took one last run through using your order and I'm sewing again! Thank you so much for sharing the step by step with explanation.
Thanks so much for this informative and easy to watch video! I had a thread lock near the bobbin and when I took off the plate the cutter was not in place. I can’t find how to replace it anywhere in my manual or the internet. Please help. I have a Baby Lock Aria.
The Elizabeth is designed differently, so there is nothing external that would need lubrication. You would need to have a Baby Lock technician remove the covers for a proper service.
Hello, and thanks for the very informative and helpful video. I bought a Crescendo about a year ago when I was living in the U.S. I have since moved to Spain and I am struggling to find a service center. I would like to book it in for its first annual service. I assumed Baby Lock sewing machines were sold worldwide and that I would have no problem having it serviced once I moved. From what I can gather, it seems that Baby Lock sergers are quite popular here but not the sewing machines. I was wondering if, as an alternative, I should seek out a Brother technician as I believe Brother has an identical machine to the Crescendo in its range. Are you able to offer any help or advice? I am kinda kicking myself because I sold my Bernina machine and kept the Baby Lock (I much prefer the Crescendo) when I left the US only to discover that there are many Bernina service centre over here. Any advice would be much appreciated - thanks.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. I didn't know you could use an air gun. Can you use it on the upper thread path? Right now I'm having an issue with my Solaris. It keeps telling me to check and rethread upper thread. I cleaned it all out and changed the needle but it still keeps telling me to check the upper thread. I'm wondering if there's lint on the sensor and if I could blow it off.
Hey Doug new to your site! Would you have any idea why the needle thread is unthreading when using the cutter on the machine. It is happening on two of my baby locks. Thanks
Thank you. Good info. Never was cautioned to also sew with my combo D2. Makes sense. Hoping to find some info on which Bobbin case, etc., to use so I can do that. Thanks again.
Hi Doug, I am planning to retire from teaching in a couple of years from now and I would love to train and work part-time as a sewing machine technician. How would I go about training to do this?
Doug I have a Brother PR 1000e and we think the hoop sensor might be going bad. Very upsetting since we just had it in for annual maintenance and this was not detected. Someone said it’s a simple part to install. I found the part online but is there a video somewhere about the installation? I googled but can only find the hoop calibration.
Hi. I have a Baby Lock Esante Ese machine. I am in need of 2 tension rollers. Are there any tension rollers available that would fit my Baby Lock Esante Ese? Thanks
is there a video to open the side up ? I hate it that there's no side door to clean in there. I've had thread caught and just worked with it until it broke :( I know .. BAD GIRL but I'm in the middle of a project and can't lose time with it in the shop That's my one peve with Babylock .. my Janome Horizon I can open up the side
Most lubrication would need to be done by a Baby Lock trained Technician, as all covers need to be removed. We recommend a Visit to the retailer on a yearly basis.
Doug, I did something really stupid. I have a babylock destiny while using the straight stitch I kept getting a error message to check upper threading, so after several times I decided to remove the faceplate to investigate, on the threader assemble I saw what looked like the thread that I was using wrap around a pulley so I snipped it after I did it I knew I did something wrong. I pulled on it and out came a think rubbery wire gray in color with what it looks like tiny beads in a loop. Doug how badly have I done and does this sounds like a costly repair?
I am looking for babylock spirit help. Problem, Machine will sew fine for about 25 seconds. There will be a thump/bang and about 2 stitches more the thread will be broken along some 4" of thread yanked unspools from the spool.. Removing the hoop and flip over shoes some nesting happen. I'm guessing the auto tensioner snaps tight for a split second as the tensioner arm pulls the thread tight enough to break. IDEAS please2 year old machine and getting closer to the scrap yard. Wife is in tears as she use all her saving to buy this embroidery machine only to make some crafts.
Kelle, you can magnetize a screwdriver tip quite easily by rubbing it against a magnet. It actually helps quite a bit when you are working with tiny screws.
Hi Doug...I own a Solaris and from time to time I have thread that nests and gets stuck in the tension discs, usually around position three.. I really don't want to have to take my machine in for service when this happens as I know if I had some instruction, and being very careful, I could remove that thread myself. Is this something you have any instruction on? I know Babylock does not want home sewers necessarily doing this, but realistically I think it makes sense as it happens enough to make it worthwhile to learn this small piece of service myself. CAn you help?
Hi Claire, make sure your upper thread is in the take up lever correctly. If you continue to have issues with thread nests, please contact our Product Support team here: babylock.com/support/contact
Gary, our machines don't have an oil reservoir like some commercial machines have, instead, the metal that is used is impregnated with oil that releases when the machine heats up while sewing. So, to keep your machine in good working order you should use it!
Thank you for this video! I called Baby Lock today and they recommended that I search for you on RUclips. I’m sewing glad I found you!

Thank you for recommending this video Doug! It's a good one 🙂
This is SO HELPFUL! Now I know (I hope!) how to clean out my D2 that has been eating embroidery projects!
Doug, I love your workbench segments! You provide such great information!!!

Way to go Nancy ! I'm glad the video was helpful for you. Happy Stitching :)
Thank you for the fantastic lesson and video for the basic maintenance. I love my machine and appreciate these videos.
Thank you for this one segment. I clean the machine but have not removed the little cover.😂😂
Great video, hood things to know.
Thank you.
Thanks Doug! I learned something new.

Good show Doug!!!! I use your RUclipss as an introduction to my Machine Anatomy class.
Hi Doug, your videos are great. Do you have one on how to set up the cap embroidery hoop on the Valiant 10 needle?

Thanks for your response. Sewed classes require a membership in Love of Knowledge which I do not have. Bummer.
Thanks for the info. One suggestion, please turn off the “music” after the intro - very distracting.
Thank you ,I learned so useful things
Can you please make a video on oiling your babylock Elizabeth? Hard to find videos as she is discontinued 😢
The Elizabeth is designed differently, so there is nothing external that would need lubrication. You would need to have a Baby Lock technician remove the covers for a proper service.

Very useful information, thorough explanations. Love my Baby Lock Accord!
I have the destiny two and I was not aware of needle plate sensor feature
Really appreciate these videos. This was very informative. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Hi Cyn, Doug has another video where he discusses the bobbin case. Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/-kGG2OOvFyw/видео.html
Thanks so much! Great video tutorial!!
Hi Doug, I am planning to retire from teaching in a couple of years from now and I would love to train and work part-time as a sewing machine technician. How would I go about training to do this?
Karl,
I would talk to your local Baby Lock retailer, maybe they can assist you.

I'm sorry Lorraine, but those roller are no longer available..
Do you recommend cleaning the feed dogs? My feed dogs look pretty dust and dirty.
Yes, removing the needle plate and cleaning in between the teeth on the feeds dogs are also important.
Thank you, Doug!!

Yes Kelle, I do have my screwdriver tip magnetized.

ANOTHER VIDEO STATES BABY LOCK MACHINES ARE SELF OILING I HAVE NEW MACHINE MODEL BLJY IS THERE A OIL RESERVIOR
