Used in forestry mainly the tongs and hooks. Hook is used to roll logs over. I use tongs sometimes on arb jobs when I’m working on the ground they do make life easier.
Hi James, I think the hook is just to make it easier in moving logs about, i have one of them sharpeners and i find it spot on to use and makes a good job, been a really good video and a nice giveaway 💪👍
Love the videos James, and those sunglasses. The drag hook is mainly for dragging logs around and can be used to lift medium length logs with a 2nd or the tongs.
Great video I recommend Hexa chain for anyone new to filing chain its pretty hard to go wrong. I use it when in the woods so easy to touch up. I wish they also made it .325. Pfred also makes the same three in the filling guide again great for the novice.
@@MachineryNation The Hexa chain needs a special file to sharpen it. Only thing that the new Hexa is easier to charpen but too expensive for a lot of usage.
I need to sharpen my saws. I'd be interested in the vid you said comparing that type of sharpener before I get one. I feel they would save a lot of time like you said. Thanks in advance.
Nice bit of fun with the chainsaw 👍. I'm not a fan of those 2in1 chain sharpeners but have been looking at 1 for the ¼ pitch chain stuff, just wish they were cheaper 😲
Them sunglasses actually suited you . Brilliant video again . I only ever used the chain sharpener once however I could not use it correctly so pay some one to do it
I’m so new to this industry but I’m fully hooked into this now and way! I’m watching every video that comes out and seeing tools I’ve never seen or heard of and it’s incredible! Why haven’t I seen anyone with the log grabber?????? It’s awesome
I have used the hook and tongs on longer lengths of wood IE stakes and bars hook in one end and tongs so far up for lifting can carrying them into place
Cramer have a 3.4kw 82v max 72v nominal battery saw that runs an 18 or 20" .325" 0.50" Oregon bar and chain. It's roughly as powerful as a 560xp ms362 or ps6100 / ea6100 ! Really Interesting peice of kit ! I'll also add @ 3.4kw it's .4kw more power than the msa300. I will say keep your eye on Cramer if you want to see bigger battery saws 😜🤫
@@theautisticarborist6846 I'm sure they have, but id still rather the noise alone of a petrol saw. Don't get me wrong, battery are the future and engines are going away whether we like it or not, unfortunately
@@PatHiggins-Mayo aye they have there place the battery saws, domestic arb work with a place to charge or an inverter in the truck, they are ideal, less noise, no fuel / exhaust emissions and easier to communicate + the instant start for top handles, especially when doing reductions and tip work. @@theautisticarborist6846 yup, exactly right. I only use a saw for my own domestic work so i presume my next one will be electric. Ill hang on to my Stihl ms171 as long as i can 😊😊

I almost bought some Stihl glasses like that to go with my Stihl baseball cap, imagine the number of fanboy comments that would draw. Handy little tool that sharpener, do they do anything like it for reciprocating hedge-cutters?
Hi Team , greetings from Australia, love your work, always entertaining & I might even learn something. I think the hook is to carry a six pack of beer in one hand while you carry your chainsaw in the other. Cheers Kev. 🍻
Completely unrelated but if you happen to remember what type of paint you used on the bolens husky video from 2 years ago I would greatly appreciate it. I really want to use that yellow goldish paint as well but can’t find the original code or colour
I can’t remember what the RAL code was. I’ve still got some left in my paint cupboard. If you email me contact@machinery-nation.com I will remember to look for you. Also I’m selling the Bolens if you are interested.
@@MachineryNation The oil pump is designed to pump oil with chain going forwards. And the pump is plastic and easily breaks like that. Was taught that at college 20+ years ago and always stood by that
The log hook is a very handy cant hook for rolling a log to finish up a cut. Stick one in your wedge pouch and it's always there.
Nice, I will give it a go 👍🏼

Great tools to help out on the timber work
First time watcher/subscriber. I'm a fellow STIHL man myself. I use the MS 70
Nice bit of work on that Ash. That big cut on the fence post was defo a sketchy one.. well handled .. Will be getting a pair of those tongs on order

That saw ran super super sweet - the four-stroking went away right when the saw started working - nice video James & Co
Thanks Clause! It was running sweet 👌🏽
A true Stihl fanboy needs them shades!! 😎
Nice One James handy accessories Have a good weekend Thanks again
We use this hook for moving big plants and trees with root ball.

Yes, I agree. It really does, we tried this in the Hexa video we created. Thank you 🥳
Definitely getting the 3in1 thought it was a gimmick to !
Very nice video 🙂 and some nice filework on the chain 😉
The hook is for moving small logs and brash
The sharpener is good for 1.4 pich chain
Brash yes! Hook it on and drag it out 👍🏼
James, I use the vice and the file/sharpener for years now, never sharpened it any faster. Those are the best.
Ideal, yeah they are a good combo!

100-% on the 1/4 inch stuff. As those little buggers are horrible to sharpen 👍🏼
Likewise with the 1/4 chain as the tiny round files flex so much
Those chain results surprised me
Me too! 🤩
Them sunglasses actually suited you . Brilliant video again . I only ever used the chain sharpener once however I could not use it correctly so pay some one to do it
Haha, it’s worth tying again, it’s really good! Ok cool, I might keep them then haha.
i have 3 different sizes of those sharpeners, they work great! the tongs look handy to, might have to look into those!
Awesome! Yes do!
Very impressed with the 3 in 1 chain sharpener.
Keep up the great work, your reviews are great
Hi MN I've been using the 3 in1 stihl sharpener for a few years great bit of kit 👍👍

Great vlog as always. I need to get the file.
Thanks

Great videos as always 😁 Love all the garden machine videoes you upload :)
Thank you
Oh god another saw I will have to buy from you. Like the ms400. But also may have to buy the echo 4310 prob just have to buy both.
Gonna get myself that sharpener!

😎22 ton splitter.. say no more

They use the hook for logs so when your putting the logs on the spliting machine of spliting block then its easier to put it on that way...
Ill be buying one of those files!
100% agree 👍🏼
Maybe the hook would be handy for unloading wood off a truck bed? Wouldn’t be without my tongs tho, defo worth getting a pair. ✌️
Yeah that’s true! Thank you.
Great content. There is no way a battery chainsaw will ever produce the power/efficiency as you showed here with your petrol saw 👍

Those 3in1 are great can be hard to get the old boys at work to use them but
I am still really surprised how good they are!
Hook V pickaroo comparison vid please 🙂
Great accessories
The pulp hooks are meant to be used in pairs to pick up short lengths of pulp wood, one hook in each end of the log.
Nice. Like the look of those glasses. Still waiting for my t-shirt as well 🤑I am wondering about the stihl procom stuff, need a new helmet. 👍
Draws will start next week in the community tab 👍🏼 ProCOM changes everything!
Maybe I will look into those sharpeners after all...
2 weeks ago I would of said probably stay with what you have.. now the east file all the way!
Nice work with the saw!
The sharpener!!!
I like the sharpener.
nice saw
Sun's out Stihl Sunny's out 😂
For sure!
Love the video.
Hi great video I find the 3 in 1 sharpener takes your rakers down too fast meaning you need newer chain faster .but any way great videos and content.
Great vid!

Comment? Oh go on then.

Oh yes yer we do 👌🤣🤣
You use the tongs and hook together. Tongs are used how you used them the hook goes into the end of the log, we called them pulp hooks
Awesome thank you, that makes sense now 👍🏼

So did I! But time wise this is awesome!
Hello
Good video
If you can’t hand file a saw don’t know if 400 the saw you should be using
Hi
Oh yes lol
Hahaha
How dooo
3/1 ??? Thougt it was 2/1. What is the 3rd??
You shouldn’t pull the chain backwards it damages the oil pump for lubricating the chain
Are you pulling my leg? Never heard that before.
