I bought 82 acres in the Ozarks earlier this year and I have a ton of trees to cut and split. Been wondering how many chains I will be going through before winter. This company looks like it's gonna be my new favorite! 😊

I like the idea of having a few of these more cost effective chains on hand for doing trail maintenance, and other work where the chain is more likely to catch a piece of hidden metal or a rock, etc. As always, thank you for the amazing content. It has been a pleasure to watch you and Tiffany develop your homestead over the years.

I like the point you make about a "sacrificial chain" for "dirty cuts". Damaging a cheap chain is less painful! Still (Sthil), they may be a great value if they hold up over time and take the sharping as you use them. *Questions would be:* How much stretch over time? How fast they wear away with regular sharpening? It appears that when sharp, performance is similar to the name brand expensive chains, as you have shown. At the very least having the choice to use "My good chain" or "My cheap chain" for specific types of cuts is a no brainer!! Great video! 🙂

Great comparison vid! I have to say that the raker height on the Stihl chain seems more appropriate to the tooth allowing for no engine bog. The other chains may cut better after a few sharpenings and their heights even out...the rakers are just a little too short outta the box allowing too deep of a cut. For the price difference a great buy and perfect for average homeowner 👍💜💜💜

I always like to use the Stihl chains for my saw just because I have used them a lot and they have always given me great results and long life. That being said I do really like the idea of not ruining them by hitting something when I know I have a fairly high risk of there being debris in the wood.

I'm sure the Hipa chains are great based off these numbers, but I'm willing to bet the Stihl chains last a lot longer. It's hard to get tough steel that also holds an edge, so most companies making cutting edges use a softer steel. Another great video as always.

I generally buy genuine Stihl chains for my saw, but those alternative chains you tried would be good in situations where you are cutting in less than optimal conditions such with muddy logs, multiple contacts with the ground or wood known to have potential fencing or nails embedded within it. Great comparison between the two chains. Another fantastic video.

yeah, that's what i'm interested in too.
Do the cheap chains become dull after 20 cuts, etc..
A lot of the time cheap tools work great when brand new, they just become useless after 10-20% of use compared to a good tool.
I recently got a cheap 45cc 20" chainsaw and am wondering how much better it would perform with a high quality chain vs the cheap china chain it came with.

Been using stihl and Oregon. Don’t really notice a difference in bars or chains. Started trying Oregon once I saw actual timber companies using them in their stihl saws. Probably dropped close to 100 trees on our property since we bought it 7 years ago, so the chainsaw has had plenty of use.

Cool video as always..But Like a lot of other folks i started running saws from a young age (maybe 7-8yo) and i was always told if your going to run a saw your going to half to know how to keep them good and sharp and away i went..Now Looking Back i see how valuable and Kinda Rare Skill set that is Today..same with sharping a pocket knife by hand or a garden hoe or axe.. all are what ya call acquired skills and can take decades to master so the sooner ya start the better ..lol.

I like that idea, buying some cheap chance to cut through nasty stuff, kind of some disposables. I’ve got a couple hedges to take out and some stumps to cut down and poke some holes in so I can burn them out. Instead of using a good channel, just get a couple of these. I can’t believe they sell them for five dollars, I couldn’t even get the metal to make something like this for that come up you probably can’t even get chains sharpened for five bucks anymore. Lol
I haven’t seen my chainsaw in five years because it’s been in storage and I didn’t need one at the last three houses. I know my mom let a handyman try to use it and he couldn’t get it started and I’m sure he left fuel in there so I don’t know what I’m gonna be dealing with but I’m guessing it’s going to need some work.😅😂
