First video that’s explained properly, well done sir
Awesome, for the break down in the end. Its the info I was looking for.
Finally! Someone shows it actually working! I wanted to see how often it updates the display.
Thank you. Love the graphic at the end. If someone wants an even more basic lesson there is this video = Save on your electric bill using this simple method
I just bought this one too from online. Thank you for the tutorial.
Thank you very thorough! :)
very simple explanation thankyou
Thanks for this.
Thank you this video. Very helpful for me
Excellent! Thank you.
My pleasure :)
The manual, if it can be called that, is garbage. Really appreciate this as I was almost set to return it. Thank you.
Ah, so glad it help you :), my pleasure!
This same looking product must be sold under 50 different names.
Very good info sir
Quick note: at 0:12 CDN the dollar sign is on the left and not on the right unless you're in Quebec. The rest of Canada is on the left. So you know.
2:57 It's kWh, not kilowatt (kW)! If you multiply watt by hour, the result is watthour (Wh), not watt. You pay for energy (kWh), not for power (W). It is a common misconception.
I thought when you added the cost into the device is calculated it for you? Why are there 2 cost sections but you can only alter the kWh cost?
Can this power meter be used to calculate the electricity cost over a period of time instead of having to manually calculate it? I guess it should since there is the function of adding the fixed cost of electricity in dollars per kw/h
The cost should show a running total on the first screen after you have set the cost per KWh. I don't know why it is not on that one as it is running. I have a similar one in the U.K. and only need to know how to take everything back to zero without using the reset button. I heard you push function and the up button, but that has no effect on mine.
So, if I connect a radio to this device, it can/will tell me how many amps the radio is using and also the voltage from the wall socket?
at least of video from where you bring 0.15?
I have one of these and trying to calculate cost of running my security camera HD.
Cost per KW is 35.70 AU
Says 5.808 kw consumed in 8 days.
Cost reads 207.3
After it reaches 99.99 the decimal point moves across to the 3rd digit so what is tbe cost ?
Have no idea what 207.3 is
I just tried this unit, and it seems it will be very useful. I was mainly trying to find out how much voltage drop I have at the end of a very long wire. I plugged the unit into the end of my circuit, and plugged nothing into the front, and it showed 115v, is that how you check the incoming voltage I'm interested in, or does the voltage mode on the unit only work for items plugged in the front of the unit?
If I wasn't clear, I'll try to reword my question. Thanks for any input.
Honestly I'm not an electrician, can't answer this sorry
i bought this socket power meter but its battery is low....
scren display is dim....reading is not visible....tell what type of cell i can use to change the cell...
further is it chargeable cells or not???
I pd $40 usd last month. Here's my confusion, aren't these supposed to display the cost?! What's the point then... I could just use a regular meter if I'm still going to have to do the calculation. Smh!
Does anyone know if it is modified sin wave inverter friendly ?
How do replace the battery ?
The units are not correct: (20 W * 8 Hrs)/(1000W/KW) = 0.16 KWH {"kilowatt-hours", NOT just kilowatts!}
Dosent the device calculate the cost once you know price per kilowatt from your bill ???
Can I use this to read the monthly usage of my aircon? Like submeter?
You can make some calculations. Maybe running it for full month to give you an idea.
What happens when you unplug the light fixture and plug it in again? Does it continue to accumulate the power usage?
If i remember correctly yes
@@AquaSplendor i think it reset the whole information stored in inside ?
My instructions say to install 3.6volt rechargeable battery before you use the unit. Took cover off and could not see where to put the battery. Does it need a battery? The display has numbers on it when I plug it into an outlet and no numbers when I take the unit out of an outlet.
No 😆
I opened my own today and it stopped working
So what is the purpose of enter the cost ($0.15)?
It doesn't appear to use the cost number. I've got one of these devices and I can't see how it calculates the cost you have incurred.
just a silly question. in UK we pay 38.80p KW . I set it up at the cost of 38.80 and after 1h was about 4£ which is too expensive ... do I need to set like 00.38 on display? thanks
Not familiar with Uk sorry
.0038 I would think
cents = pennies
2:20 is that cost in $ or just a generic value ?...
I thought the plug tells you how much it cost..
Does it have a backlight?
No
Can it be used for calculating overall consumption of an electric car ?
Not made for that.
I have a device like this, but its display is very dark, I can hardly see. Do you know what it can be?
Nan sorry, perhaps a bad connection inside of it?
@@AquaSplendor I already opened it to see it and apparently everything is normal, maybe it is some component that is bad. But I don't know what it can be.
What does the low and high mean?
It's the 2 extreme number of how much is consumed at certain point of time.
It seems that most of the cheap models from Amazon are calculating the watts incorrectly. Ohm's Law says that Watts = Amps x Volts. so if their Amp reading is correct at 0.33 and the Volts are 120 you get 120 x 0.33 = 39.6 Watts not 20 watts. It seems that they are somehow using a formula based on 220 v even though you are only getting 120 volts so basically you need to double the cost and the wattage to get the right answer.
The formula used is power = voltage x current x power factor (.5 in the video) I have an old meter and a couple of Tasmota flashed smart plugs that do it the same way.
I bought machine here in USA when i get in Turkey it’s not working because of their electricity are higher then what we use in USA is this ganna help me to reduce that power thank you
No
Hi, thanks for the video.
I just wondered if you have set the cost correctly. You entered it as 00-15 but I believe it should be entered as 15-00.
Can you please confirm.
Can't confirm been too long since I made this video.
@@AquaSplendor OK, thanks for replying.
I think if you set cost to 15:00 it would mean $15 per KWH or unit.
@@tonyfrewin4822 You’re right. I came to that conclusion after it appeared to cost £7 to boil the kettle 😂
Is that a light on back light for screen ?
Don't think so
it has a backlight ? (blue o white?)
White
@@AquaSplendor I don't see it. Do you have to switch it on somehow?
Can this device set monthly cost?
I don't think so, just take a Calculator
Regarding the Power Energy Meter, I hereby request the following information.
I know the meter has a battery.
My question is:
Does the consumption meter work even without the battery or with a dead battery?
Basically, it is to know if the battery is only used to store the data, e.g. the value of the KWh or on the contrary is it necessary for the operation and power supply of the display?
I intend to use the Energy Meter not to know the value of the cost of energy but to know the value of the Power, Voltage, Current Intensity (A) and Power Factor of the device that I connect to the meter.
So I don't care if the device runs on batteries alone and that I have to replace them when they run out.
Need to be plug
@@AquaSplendor the battery need to be plug ? Always inserted into the device?
@@AntonioBatista-hn6le I don't deal with the battery I just plug. I don't even remember about the battery to be honest been many years.
@@AquaSplendor And today the power meter device is still functional ?
@@AntonioBatista-hn6le Yes
Pretty complicated to find your usage costs.
timer wont work on mine
😕
not reliable type of tester, switch for a few days found arcing at the neutral line and failed.
in your experience is it accurate somehow?
Yes
@@AquaSplendor wow thank you for the info
It says install a battery....where to put it?
Idk, do you really need one??
@@AquaSplendor to store the data yes
Your math is incorrect for yearly average. Not every month has 30 days so your yearly average will be off
0.024 x 365 days=
$8.76
If we go on this path it will never end 🤣
Too bad the narrator did not include UNITS when doing his math.
P=IV so 20watt=0.33amp x 120volt...
It’s made in China so it is really high quality he says lol
Probably all your electronic devices you're using right now were made in China. They make utter garbage but they also make good stuff.
He said "don't expect high quality" not it is high quality!
